Reports JSP Error

hi
i can install oracle 9i as rel 2 on windows 2000 server. i have a problem on report test running. when i running test jst report it gaves me the following error

couple comments:
1. are you using jdev 902 that is shipped in ids or standalone jdev? the reports integration (which includes running a reports jsp from within jdev) currently only works with jdev in ids.
2. assuming you're using jdev in ids, do you have a reports server called 'myserver' started up somewhere on your network? if not, (and again, assuming you're using ids) you can either
a) startup the reports server in ids for testing purposes (see the tech note "How to Execute Oracle9iAS Reports Services from Oracle9iDS" in the "getting started" - http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/whitepapers/index.html - and this will create a server called: rep_<hostname> so just use that instead of 'myserver' )
or
b) use a reports server in 9ias - again, they're typically called 'rep_<hostname>' so you can specify that, or startup another reports server and call it 'myserver'

I've a web application archive file (war) which i m deploying to the web using OEM. The war file consists of many JSPs. Among those JSPs i have one Report JSP, which i m calling from another JSP which is like a parameter form for the report JSP. When i call the report JSP, it gave me the following error,

The report tag in the report JSP is as follows,

The report server is up and running and so is the database. This report JSP was generated from the reports builder and the opened in JDeveloper environment,in the war file project. It was then compiled and a war file was created. Surprisingly this report JSP works fine when i run my webapplication from the embedded OC4J instance for JDeveloper, but when i try to run it from the 9iAS server i get the above mentioned error. The deployment of the war file to the server is successful and the other JSPs work fine, only the reports JSP is not working. Do i need to have some settings for running the reports JSP, please advise.

Can you please help me in deploying jdeveloper (9.0.3.1)war file to 9iAS release 1, when I try to run, none of the jsp's execute, I get java OutOf Memory error, I also think that there may be some version compatibility between jdev jdk and 9iAS jdk.

Error deploying oracle report JSPs in Jdeveloper.

Hi,
I am trying to deploy and run a report created using oracle Report tool(comes with oracle 10g developer suite). I did the below steps.
1. I created a web layout report in oracle reports tool.
2. Open Jdeveloper (which comes in developer suite).
3. Create a new project in Jdeveloper. selected to create new "report component" from new. Copied my oracle report to this jsp page.(Report run time was automatically added to the libraries of the project created)
4. Run using embedded oc4j and report was successfully run.
5. Created a deployment profile for WAR. Created a war successfully. Then created an EAR.
6. Right click deployment profile and configured standalone oc4j connected(connection1). Tested the connection. The test connection was success.
7. Then right clicked the deployement profile and clicked deploy to connection1.
8. The EAR file was deployed but in the standalone OC4J, it is showing few errors.

Dear All
Just to share the solution of the problem.
We restarted the XServer which is on the other machine then Oracle 9i AS Middle Tiere and Infra. Once we restarted the XServer machine, and restarted the reports server , every thing back to normal.

Jsp trial - nitrox reports tiles error

Hi,
I just downloaded the nitrox trial version to use with Eclipse 3.0.1. I have a project that makes use of Java Server Faces and Tiles (an ibm sample from http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-jsf2/). To gain access to Tiles, I use the struts.jar and struts-el.jar libraries. I don't, however, use struts (i.e. there is no struts-config.xml).
I can build and execute the code under Tomcat 5.0.25 and it works fine.
The problem
Nitrox, however, reports the following error with index.jsp in the Eclipse Problems tab at the bottom of the screen:
"The tile ".index" cannot be found in the Struts tiles config files for this module."
I suspect that tiles-def.xml is not being found. If I rename tiles-def.xml to tiles-def-mod.xml, I still get the same index.jsp error.
Any idea why Nitrox is reporting this error?
Details
1. Tomcat-5.0\conf\server.xml has this line:

I folowed your suggestions and added the struts stuff to my web.xml and placed an empty struts-config.xml under WEB-INF. I'm still receiving the same Nitrox error messages.
I intentionally removed the end bracket and changed the <struts-config> tag to <struts-config. Nitrox picked this up and reported the error.
When I made the same change to <tiles-definitions in the tiles-defs.xml file, Nitrox did not pick up the error.

Hi Simon,
Looking at the exception, it seems the machine is so slow that it could not give enough time for the report engines to start up can also result in this exception.
Please try the following :
Increase the callbacktimeout parameter for the report server. In server conf file that increase the callbacktimeout parameter for the report server from 1 minute (60000 milliseconds) to 3 minutes(180000 milliseconds)

Ultrasearch Create Web Source gives JSP Error

9iAS V2, including all patches from the Patch CD.
Create Web Source: Step 4. To add a path, instructions are "To specify path rules, you must first add the host to the path rule list. Then, click on the "Edit" icon to include or exclude specific paths for that host".
I can add the host to the list, but when I click on Edit I get the error

Bug, installation failure, or what? Can't find anything on Metalink. Can others do this successfully on 9.0.2?

No one report this error before.
From the error, looks like the compiled servlet class is malformated.
Can you please delete this class file, and render the page again to see whether it helps ?

REP-6102 opening reports jsp

Hi all,
I am running Reports 9.0.2.0.3 under Win2k and developing JSP reports.
Everything went fine until this morning I tried re-opening a report Jsp I was working on.
I got a "REP-6102" error stating "failed to start XML parser".
After agreeing to the message, Windows takes over and says "rwbuilder.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows." and of course the program is terminated.
I'm clueless -- I worked on this report for two days with no trouble. I didn't install anything new on my machine. Other JSP reports open, no errors.
The only difference between the "problem" report and the others is its size -- it's rather large.
Does anybody have some hint?

An update. I worked around the problem by making a copy of the Jsp, opening it (curiously, no errors) and regenerating the data model. Now I can open and close it freely.
The mystery remains though. Why in the world should RW have trouble opening a file, and none with a sheer copy of the same file..?

Reporting Services Error after Interactive sorting and drill down in pps

Hi
i have a report that has a drill down option that shows all workgroups within a specific parent group and an interactive sorting ass well on both columns parent group & workgroup
This is displayed in pps combined with a SharePoint
---the problem is that after sorting the parent group column by name i then press the drill through icon (+) next to it hopping to see all workgroups related to each parent group
- but instead
i receive this Reporting Services Error :
The value for parameter 'SortItem' is not specified. It is either missing from the function call, or it is set to null. (rsMissingParameter) Get

If I don't press the sorting and just drill through it works fine. the sorting itself also works fine.

I am unable to reproduce the issue in my test environment. How did you add the drilldown feature? Were you doing that by setting visibility of the column or of the group? Please ensure to add the drilldown functionality by set the visibility of the workgroup
from the Grouping Pane in the Report Designer.
How did you add the Interactive Sorting on the headers of the two columns? Based on the drilldown functionality, the Interactive Sorting on the second column doesn’t work. So, you can move the Interactive Sorting on the second column. When configuring the
Interactive sorting on the first column, you should set the parent group to sort, and sort by the field that the parent group groups by.

EPSON Workforce 310 "scanner reported an error" when using document feeder

I'm having trouble using my EPSON Workforce 310 printer/scanner with my new MacBook Pro (late 2012, 2.5 GHz i5, OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2).
Using the flatbed I can scan without a problem. But when I try to use the document feeder, I get the following error right after I click Scan and before the scanner has done anything (at least I don't hear anything moving inside the EPSON):

An error occured during scanning
The EPSON's display doesn't show any error or special message.
This is repeated whether I use Image Capture, Preview's Import from Scanner, or the printer's native app (PrinterProxy, the one that shows up in the doc whenever the printer is printing or scanning).
I have no problem doing the scanning from my old iMac (2006, 2GHz Core Duo, Snow Leopard). After scanning to the MacBook fails I can walk over to the iMac and scan from there without problem and without resetting anything on the EPSON.
The EPSON is connected the home network via ethernet to a Time Capsule. Both computers are connected to the network via WiFi.

My wife's iMac with 10.6.6 stopped working with her Epson 2480 Photo scanner. Get the error message "SCANNER reported an error. An error has occurred during scanning" I am trying to use it from the Image Capture App or from the print/fax option in Settings which opens Image Capture. I ran the uninstall program and then reinstalled the ICA 13969 .dmg but get the same error. Not sure what else I can do.

Problem with Deploying a Report (JSP) on AS

I have created my report using Report Builder on the PC(Oracle 10G). After jsp file was created, I tried to put it on the Oracle AS (on Unix) for everyone to see it. And I don't know where to put it exactly.
I know the HTTP Server is running fine. But somehow my directory structure for the web server looks like this
ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/htdocs
Meaning that if I put a regular HTML in htdocs above, I could see it in a browser.
According to docs, my report should go under /reports/jsp and that should be under the web server home directory and it's not
But there are no /reports subdirectory under htdocs. There is a /reports subdirectory under ORACLE_HOME...
What else needs to be running?
Is there something wrong. How do you fix that?
Any good examples would be appreciated.
How can I redfine my web server home directory?

You can start by running the test report that is installed with iAS. Just run the following URL first :
http://machine.domain:PORT
where PORT is your mid tier Apache's LISTEN port. Then follow the links :

if you will run the test.jsp here, you would get the URL :
http://server.domain:PORT/reports/examples/Tools/test.jsp?....
this "reports/examples/Tools" is relative you your $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_BI_Forms/applications

5.0 won't work - extensions message is "localized string not found". When I force it to try to load a new window it shows a gray screen with the bookmarks on top then immediately closes and wants to report the error. Has been this way since 5.0 came out.

I first tried downloading Safari when the 5.0 update came out last year. When I choose the app in the dock, I get the blue top bar (Safari, File, etc) but nothing else loads. I uninstalled the app and tried again several times, but no success. For over a year now I've used Firefox as a result. Today I thought I'd try again, but same results. When I choose "new window" in the file menu, I get a small gray window with my bookmarks on top, then in a few seconds, the app quits unexpectedly and the report an error screen appears. I've unchecked all the languages in the information area for the app, cleared all history, cookies, and cache. Still the extensions tab in the preferences area has "LOCALIZED STRING NOT FOUND" in 4 places. It won't show what that means when I click the "?". Will I ever be able to use Safari again?

What is the application doing?
Iu2019m guessing you have a windows service application and you're trying to launch a UI (ie the viewer control) from the application or print using the vieweru2019s printing functionality programmatically(?).
If this is a Windows Service running under the local system account, then follow the instructions in the error message. (ie, bring up the properties of the service, go to the logon tab and check the checkbox that says u201CAllow service to interact with desktopu201D.   At least that should allow whatever popup is trying to come up display properly.
