Repository Update

Hi..
I am using 10.1.3.4 version obiee
When I update the repository it does not reflect in my dashboard page...
That is I have modified the 'Logical Column' calculation but it show the previous saved calculation.
I have stopped BI server and BI presentation server services before modify the repository..

Hi Kranthi,
Previously I have created the new calculated column with following condition
"case when table.Column =1000 then sum(value) else 0 end".
I inserted this column into my dashboard page and run this dashboard for year=2009 and period=3.
after that only I realized i need to do some changes in my created calculated column..
so i stopped all services related to BI and open the BI Administration in offline mode and i changed the same column like below
"case when table.Column =1000 then *sum(value)+1000* else 0 end".
after that i saved and check the Global Consistency and again i restart the services that related to BI
now i run the same dashboard page for the same prompt(year=2009 and period=3) it doesn't make any changes,
but i run the same dashboard page with different prompt(year=2008 and period=4) now it works successfully.
now again i run the same dashboard page for previous prompt(year=2009 and period=3) it again doesn't make any changes.
here i couldn't find where the problem was raised?
Thanks in Advance...

  • Applying 10.1.2.3 Metadata Repository update in 10.1.4.3 distributed IDM

Hi there, I seem to have a unique issue.
I have the following config of 10.1.4.3 IDM :
SSO in a separate Oracle home
OID in a separate Oracle home
DB (10.2.0.50) in a separte OH and metadata repository installed in this DB
and this is set up in ASR replication mode with other similer setup.
Task : Apply 10.1.2.3 OracleAS patchset.
    The story:
To be fully compliant according to Orcale we ned to apply 10.1.2.3 patch. This patch has two components - a software update and a Metadata Repository (MR) update.
I have applied software update to all the Oracle homes above (with the exception of DB ofcourse).
But to apply MR update I have to do it from a mid-tier OH that also has MR installed, I have none.
I tried installing MR update from SSO and OID oracle home but it would not allow me , I got this message :
The Metadata Repository Update cannot be run from the selected ORACLE_HOME.
The Update must be run from either an Identity Management with Metadata
    Repository installation ...
But we have no middle-tier using this MR, and from this metalik note, it seems applying MR update is not mandatory, only a desirable housekeeping execrcise . :
Understanding How AS 10g Patch Sets Update the AS Metadata Repository [ID 795143.1]
    Exract from that note :
    a. apply the binary update to each AS Oracle Home in the AS Farm.
    b. finally, if possible apply the MR update exactly once from any home that allows it to be run.
also from the same note :
Scenario 6: Applying the 10.1.2.3 AS patch set to a 10.1.4.3 Identity Management home.
The 10.1.2.3 AS patch set is a required patch set, as documented in :
Note: 465847.1 Oracle Identity Management 10g (10.1.4.0.1) Release Notes Addendum.
In this case, the MR Product schemas will not be directly accessed. It is however good practice/ housekeeping to apply the MR update in order to keep the MR in line with the binary patch sets.
    My question :
I am correct in my understanding that apply 10.1.2.3 software update only is neccessary, applying the MR update is only desirable house keeping and not mandatory ?
Would you say this is the correct assessment. if not how would you go about applying the MR update ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

  • TVUR + DFS-R Manage Repository - Update View doesn't display downloaded udpates

About 2-3 months ago our tvur started exhibiting some weird behavior and randomly stopped displaying udpates that are downloaded in the repository.  thininstaller will continue to install the updates but it makes it really difficult to manage the updates as you can't set them to active etc.
The xml file looks fine from what I can see but for whatever reason it just won't display the existing updates.  My previous fix was to set up the repositor from scratch, but that's a pain and I'd like to avoid downloading udpates again so they can replicate to our 20-30 sites.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Sir you are brilliant
for those running his checker tool.  Make sure you run it as a user with rights to the read and write to the repository.  It will check if you only have read, but it won't auto download the descriptors (if necessary).
Worked like a dream and my TVUR is working again.

Also , tried with Object Manager Parameter values set to 'false", but error still exists.
Could you pls guide me to solve this errror.

    Hi!
First of all, clear the cache by going to Java Control Panel -> Temporary Internet Files -> View...
    Delete everything from there;
    After, go to:
    http://<host>:<port>/dir/start/index.jsp
-> Administration -> Repository tab (do the same in Directory tab as
well) -> Java Web Start Administration -> click on "Re-initialization
and force-signing". (Notice that por PI 7.1X the option is "Restore Archives and
    Generate New Signature")
After, please try to access the tools again. Repeat the process if not
    worked in the first time.
Also ensure you use Java version 1.4.2 for XI 3.0/7.0 and version 1.5 for PI 7.1.
You may have to update to the latest java version in the website of SUN as well.
If nothing helped, then you may try redeploying the XITOOL component (use SDM for 3.0 and 7.0/ use JSPM for PI 7.1).

  • Brand New Update Retriever Repository, No Visible Updates

I've been using TVUR and System Update for over two years and, except for the temporary program cancellation, it's worked very well.
My TVUR workstation died and I've tried to recycle the old repository using another workstation (the files are on a file server).  But this hasn't worked out - the lack of machine associations after importing all 800 updates made the old, 16GB repository nearly worthless.
So I started over, with a new repository, running TVUR on the file server (Windows Server 2003 R2 x64).  It sets up quickly and retrieves updates, but only 40.  That's 7 machine types, 3 Windows OS's  (or 17 triplets) results in 40 updates... it seems a little low.
When I try Manage Repository\Update View, I see nothing.  No updates.  It doesn't matter what I select in the Filters.
The session directory shows tons of update information for each machine/OS/language triplet:

Is it even possible to build a new repository from scratch?
Or automatically gather the metadata for the old updates (which was lost with the dead TVUR workstation)?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Home Environment - How to set up Update Retriever (UR) and Thin Installer (TI) in a home environment

    Serenityvalley wrote:
You need to go to This Page and download just about everything on it -espeically the  System Update Deployment Guide and start reading.  It'll take you a few hours to learn what you need to do and implement it if you are familar with editing system registeries and you have some luck and everything goes well.
You do NOT need to edit registry, just use Thin Installer instead of System Update on the clients. And there is no need to wade thru the deployment guide if you are setting this up in a home environment for just one or two clients.
Edit: Note that Thin Installer does not run on Vista SP2 (neither does System Update.)
Here are the few simple things you have to do:
    1. Download Update Retriever (UR) and Thin Installer (TI) from here.
    2. Install UR on one pc and TI on all clients you want to keep updated. UR installs into the Start -- All Programs -- Thinkvantage folder, TI installs into c:\program files\thininstaller.
    3. To initialize Update Retriever:
    a) specify the download folder, pick a place all clients can access. Create a new folder, TI will be confused if there is other stuff in it.
    b) change the settings to Severity -- Optional (assuming you want to see critical, recommended and optional downloads in the list), License -- Do not display and Status -- Active. After clicking next you enter the machine type, the op system and its language for each client you need to keep updated. Note that unless you change status to active everything will download as "test" and thus not be installed by the Thin Installer.
    4. Run the download, about 1 - 1.5GB for the first type, opsys and language combination  and an additional 0.5 - 1GB for each additional type depending on amount of overlap. You can be selective what you download but if you are an average home user -- just download all the items for your type/opsys/language combination(s) -- Thin Installer is a stripped down version of System Update and will decide what to install on the individual client. This is a one-time download, next time you run Update Retriever it will just download new drivers.
    5. To initialize TI on each client, copy the program from the Program Files directory and paste a shortcut to the desktop. Then rightclick on the shortcut and choose Properties, and in the target field of the shortcut tab after "C:\Program Files\ThinInstaller\ThinInstaller.exe" add the following: -repository your_UR_download_directory.
    6. Run the Thin installer on each client, it will perform exactly as System Update did, down to making the same mistakes that System Update did.
    7. As the date is getting close when Windows Update will start distributing Vista SP2 you may want to consider using Microsoft's SPBlockerTools preventing SP2 installation for up to 12 months.
    8. Debugging Tips
TI ending with message An error occurred while gathering user information is reported when running under Vista SP2 -- TI will not run in SP2.
Getting TI to "see" the database downloaded by UR is the main problem. If TI ends with a message saying corrupt or not found database you probably made a spelling mistake in the directory specified in the -repository parameter. If TI ends with a message saying no applicable packages to install it can mean a number of things:
    a) If you are unused to modifying the parameters in a shortcut you may have added -repository to the second field in the shortcut tab instead of the top field labeled Target, the two fields look very similar or you just made a typo in "-repository".
    b) Open UR again and first choose Modify settings on the left and double check that the directory there is the same directory you specified in -repository. Then choose Manage repository -- Update view and double check that all packages have status Active. If they don't it's not necessary to download again, just select all and hit the modify button to change status from Test to Active.
    c) In C:\Program Files\ThinInstaller\logs there are update logs from TI. Open one using Notepad and in edit menu search for the string
    Message: 'Share name' to use:
This will tell you in which directory TI is searching for the updates. If it can't find a -repository parameter it uses an empty default databse
    d) If you used System Update regularly up to when it stopped working on April 1 and if you have an older model with not so many new driver updates it may actually happen that there are no new updates for your machine (even though you downloaded a lot.) Go to here and enter all fields except model to see what Lenovo shipped after April 1. (Don't click on driver matrices, staying on the downloads and drivers pages will give you a list in chronological order with the ones after April 1 at the top.)  Also  be aware that the database UR downloads from is at least 2 weeks behind when the drivers first become available on the web. Right now, the only new download in the database  applicable to most notebooks after April 1 is the Access Connections 5.22 driver. To check what release you have installed open Access Connections and go to help.
I just did a clean install of a Vista64 system on my T500 and after installing the first few drivers manually (including drivers for harddisk and ethernet) let Thin Installer install the remaining 36 items for me. The only item left to fix was the known bug in the Ricoh 4 in 1 card driver SU installation. (For a clean install you need to run TI or SU more than once, it doesn't find all drivers the first time.)

Did you change status from test to active in UR before downloading? If not you can change the downloaded items in the manage repository menu.
Assuming the items you did download were not already installed on your client with TI it should work.

  • How to download the Solaris 11.2 latest SRU in order to update the local repo offline

    Hello,
I am not able to find the SRU patchset to download in order to update the local repo offline. Any idea.

These are actually in zipped archive format rather than ISO. You will probably want the install guide patch that includes the script that will help apply the incremental SRU repo on top of an existing local repository:
    https://updates.oracle.com/Orion/PatchDetails/process_form?patch_num=20845983
All the SRUs are documented in this MOS page, along with the SRU READMEs:

  • Repository changes in online mode in HA environment

    Hello,
Is it possible to make changes to the rpd in online mode within a highly available (horizontally scaled on two virtual hosts, Host1 and Host2) OBIEE 11g environment without disrupting users? Here's what currently happens in my environment, and I believe this is the expected behavior:
    1) Open repository in online mode via Admin tool (connects to Host1, which is the master BI server).
    2) Make an update and save it.
    3) Some users will see the updates right away, some won't. The ones who see it right away are connected to the BI Server on Host1, those who don't see it are connected on Host2 at that particular moment. If the user keeps hitting refresh, sometimes the user sees the updates and other times does not (it depends on which host is used each time user refreshes browser).
    4) Restart BI Server process on Host2.
    5) Now everyone running a request on Host2 during the restart will get an error. They hit refresh, the error goes away because they are taken to Host1 now.
    6) Once the BI Server on Host2 comes back online, all users will see the update made in Step 2.
Our problem is we want to have a HA environment but we also want to make several repository updates throughout the day in online mode without causing a disruption to our users. I don't currently see a way to do this without causing disruptions. Does anyone else have this challenge and if so, how do you manage it?

How to check the error and solve this error.
    Please Suggest.
    Thanks

    Hi Pappu,
Right Click on the repository and try Verify -> Repair option. Also unload other repositories for time being and try to load the newly unarchived repository. This type of error occurs due to several reasons like Some Errors present in the repository itself or due to less disk space etc.

  • UpdateRetriever + System Update

    Hi all,
I have been using sccm, thininstaller and updateretriever a while now. Thing what I have discovered is that Lenovo System Update always find newer drivers than update retriever. sometimes ur cant even find all the needed drivers.
Is there a way to import these (systemupdate drivers) to updateretriever database? If I try to import updates which system update has found ur cant find those drivers.
I use thininstaller with sccm osd ts and update this repository with update retriever.
    thanks in advance jarmo

Are you using the latest Update Retriever?  It should be version 4.2 and can be downloaded here:  http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkvantage_en/updateretriever402-2011-07-27.exe
The package you mentioned is the WiFi Driver for Intel Cards (For Windows XP 32bit) and it shows up fine for me with Update Retriever.  Of course, once I download it to my repository and search again, it does not show in the search results. Can you verify that you do not already have it in your repository by going to Manage repository -> Update view?

  • OracleAS Metadata Repository

    Hi Everyone,
I inherited a system that is currently OAS 10.1.2.2 and looking into applying 10.1.2.3 patchset. I am reading about applying the 10.1.2.3 metadata Repository update. I was wondering if there is a way to determine if 10.1.2.2 metadata Repository update has been applied? I tried ldapsearch command but it returns nothing. Any ideas?
    Thank you.
    Troy

    You may wanna note that,
    - This patchset 3 10.1.2.3 does not require portal 10.1.4. This patch set brings up your OAS components to 10.1.2.3 version from 10.1.2.0.2 level.
    - For those who are using portal 10.1.2.0.2 version, this patch set upgrades it to 10.1.2.3 as well - when they apply it on the portal repository.
    - For those users whose portal version is 10.1.4.0.0, it upgrades it to 10.1.4.2 version - when they apply it on its portal repository.
    - Metadata Repository upgrade is required in each case.
    - It has been a standard practice from Oracle Support to ask you to upgrade to the latest supported version of that release number - for almost all of your problems. For 10g Release 2, 10123 and for portal 10142 are the latest supported versions which you get after this upgrade.
Therefore, for all of your problems regarding any component on your OAS or on portal, Oracle Support would recommend highly to first get up to the latest supported version. Then they will recommend individual patches or fixes on top of it.
    hope that helps!

How I can enable audit in NG zone, I want to enable audit logs with syslog service. as enabled and configured on Global Zone.

I'm not sure why Ur looking for /etc/system in zones..
now in soalris 10u10 /soalrs 11..you can configure the kernel parameters as application/user specific
you can use projadd command to add the resources like shared memory
if you want add the parameters as global you can use
    zonecfg
you can refer this doc what parameters u can add to zone with zonecfg

  • Patching Grid Control OMS and Agent to 10.2.0.5 issue

    Oracle 11gR1 RHEL5 - Grid Control 10.2.0.5
    Hi All,
I have been stuck on this issue for over a month (was relying on Oracle supports help and they just would not reply) and I can't figure it out. Basically, what happened is that my 10.2.0.5 patch set failed partiallty when I was applying it to the OMS. Here is what is going on right now:
    Database Repository (EMREP) - 11gR1 (11.1.0.6) - /opt/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1
    OMS - 10.2.0.5 - /opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/grid_1/oms10g
    Agent - 10.2.0.5 - /opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/grid_1/agent10g
When I was almost done with the 10.2.0.5 patch on the OMS, OUI gave me the following error:
SEVERE: OUI-25031:Some of the configuration assistants failed. It is strongly recommended that you retry the configuration
assistants at this time. Not successfully running any "Recommended" assistants
means your system will not be correctly configured.
*1. Check the Details panel on the Configuration Assistant Screen to see the errors resulting in the*
    failures.
*2. Fix the errors causing these failures.*
*3. Select the failed assistants and click the 'Retry' button to retry them*
When I checked the logs I found the following messages (Here is a part of it...I think before it started to fail):
    Finished deleting the above files...
INFO: Configuration assistant "OMS Oneoff Patch Application" succeeded
    INFO: Command = oracle.sysman.emcp.oms.RepositoryPatchUpgrade -verbose
Repository Upgrade is failed with errors. Restore the database, rectify the errors and retry the install.
    For more details :
-For configuration issues, look at the log files present in following location:
    /opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/grid_1/oms10g/cfgtoollogs/cfgfw
-For repository failures, look at the log files
    /opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/grid_1/oms10g/sysman/log/emrepmgr.log.10.

    /opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/grid_1/oms10g/sysman/log/emrepmgr.log.10.2.0.5.0.errors
-If not able to identify the repository issues, contact ORACLE Support.
-After the Repository issues are rectified and upgraded successfully, execute the below runConfig command to run remaining config tools.
Goto /opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/grid_1/oms10g/oui/bin directory and run below command.

  • Compton, Openbox and Catalyst 14

    Hi.
I'm new with Arch Linux, Openbox and Compton, so...
I install compton and after that ATI driver... when I do that...the screen freeze and I can't see what I type/click, but if I kill the process (CTRL+ATL+F2, ps aux, kill -9...), everything is back again.
I use the Vi0L0's catalyst, and the compton.conf you can see below.
How can I fix that, for enable transparency, shadow and of course: Steam.
    # Backend
    # Backend to use: "xrender" or "glx".
    # GLX backend is typically much faster but depends on a sane driver.
    backend = "glx";
    # GLX backend
    glx-no-stencil = true;
    # GLX backend: Copy unmodified regions from front buffer instead of redrawing them all.
    # My tests with nvidia-drivers show a 10% decrease in performance when the whole screen is modified,
    # but a 20% increase when only 1/4 is.
    # My tests on nouveau show terrible slowdown.
    # Useful with --glx-swap-method, as well.
    glx-copy-from-front = false;
    # GLX backend: Use MESA_copy_sub_buffer to do partial screen update.
    # My tests on nouveau shows a 200% performance boost when only 1/4 of the screen is updated.
    # May break VSync and is not available on some drivers.
    # Overrides --glx-copy-from-front.
    # glx-use-copysubbuffermesa = true;
    # GLX backend: Avoid rebinding pixmap on window damage.
    # Probably could improve performance on rapid window content changes, but is known to break things on some drivers (LLVMpipe).
    # Recommended if it works.
    # glx-no-rebind-pixmap = true;
    # GLX backend: GLX buffer swap method we assume.
    # Could be undefined (0), copy (1), exchange (2), 3-6, or buffer-age (-1).
    # undefined is the slowest and the safest, and the default value.
    # copy is fastest, but may fail on some drivers,
    # 2-6 are gradually slower but safer (6 is still faster than 0).
    # Usually, double buffer means 2, triple buffer means 3.
    # buffer-age means auto-detect using GLX_EXT_buffer_age, supported by some drivers.
    # Useless with --glx-use-copysubbuffermesa.
    # Partially breaks --resize-damage.
    # Defaults to undefined.

Does not actually control paint timing, only buffer swap is affected, so it doesn’t have the effect of --sw-opti unlike other methods. Experimental.

I install that (from the arch wiki):
Once you have added some Catalyst repository, update pacman's database and install these packages (see #Tools for more information):
    - catalyst-hook
    - catalyst-utils
    - catalyst-libgl
    - opencl-catalyst - optional, needed for OpenCL support
    - lib32-catalyst-utils - optional, needed for 32-bit OpenGL support on 64-bit systems
    - lib32-catalyst-libgl - optional, needed for 32-bit OpenGL support on 64-bit systems
    - lib32-opencl-catalyst - optional, needed for 32-bit OpenCL support on 64-bit systems
    So... after that I get:
    - Videos in browser (firefox/chrome/chromium) freeze in fullscreen
    - Resize windows is slowly
    - Teamviewer stop working
    - Record screen stop working
    - Sometimes I can't see what I'm typing... but after kill compton, everything appears
I try using default compton.conf and "no" compton.conf... same problem.
    Sorry for my english
