Repost: FontMetrics getMaxAdvance returns a large value

I am trying to use the getMaxAdvance method of the FontMetrics class and it returns a value that's really large for my font.
It returns 36, while the char 'W' returns a 17.
What character would return such a big value?
I would think that W or M would be the widest characters.

There could be some wacky characters in there. Who knows. I usually just get the width of the 'W' character in the font and use that.

    I am trying to return the largest value in a linked list (10) in this case.  when I do it withour recurrsion it works ok, but when I try it with recurrsion it dies.  The logic seems ok to me, cannot figure why it dies.

    Initially I had the above, it return only 1 that was the reason for puting the loop.You don't seem to understand recursion or variable scope.
    int large = 0;large is a different variable inside each instance of the method.
    So when you get back up to the value 1 from the recursive calls its just comparing 1 to 0
    Here's a solution...
         public static int Largest(Node top){
              if(top.next != null){
                   if(Largest(top.next) > top.num)
                        return Largest(top.next);}
              return top.num;

  • Save Large Value example & FCKeditor

    Hi,
    I have been trying to use code from example application 'Save Large Value' with FCKeditor. It doesn't work for me.
    So how make that code to work with FCKeditor text area?
    Your suggestions are really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vladimir

    Carl, thanks!
    I have been trying to use fckEditor API. At first I modified doSubmit because in my page this function should be called at the end of clob_SubmitReturn.
    I added three lines. But in spite of the fix the next page that is retrieved after submit returns an error 'Value param too long'
    function doSubmit(r){
    var oEditor = FCKeditorAPI.GetInstance('P1001_SOURCE') ;
    oEditor.SetHTML('');
    oEditor.UpdateLinkedField();
    $x('P1001_SOURCE').value = '';
    flowSelectAll();
    document.wwv_flow.p_request.value = r;
    document.wwv_flow.submit();
    Any ideas, suggestions?
    Thanks,

  • Request.getParameter("checkbox") Returns only one value

    Hello Friends,
    I have a very urgent problem on live site. I moved my project from jrun2.3.3 to Jrun 3.1 and I was using multiple select and checkboxes.
    With Jrun3.1 if you select multiple select or multiple checkboxes it returns only one value instead of all the values.
    Any help is hightly appreciated.

    If multiple checkboxes have the same name, when selected and submitted, it will pass all values. But you will need to access those using getParameterValues("checkboxname") not getParameter("checkboxname"). The same goes for select elements.
    Perhaps it was a bug in JRun 2.3.3 that allowed you to reference all parameter values using just the getParameter("xxx") method.

  • Error: Expression must not return a multiline value

    Hi all,
    I am doing a file to file scenario. My input file has more than one record. I have to validate for each of these records and send back the erroneous records in a file to the source folder.
    I am using BPM for this. In my BPM, i have some multiline container elements. When i try to activate my BPM, i am getting an error saying: <b>Expression must not return a multiline value.</b>
    Can anybody tell me why this error is coming? Also i want to know what type of mapping i have to do to split my source file.
    Regards,
    Divija.

    "Can anybody tell me why this error is coming? Also i want to know what type of mapping i have to do to split my source file."
    Go through the following blogs which give step-bystep approach for split mapping using BPM:-
    1. /people/sudharshan.aravamudan/blog/2005/12/01/illustration-of-multi-mapping-and-message-split-using-bpm-in-sap-exchange-infrastructure
    2. /people/narendra.jain/blog/2005/12/30/various-multi-mappings-and-optimizing-their-implementation-in-integration-processes-bpm-in-xi
    Also, you might want to look at this, where a BPM is not required..i think you can avoid a BPM altogether if you have very little validation..

  • FM returns wrong total value for Limit type PO's

    Hi all,
    I am working on SRM 5.0 (SP13) ECS.
    I have implemented the BADI "BBP_WFL_APPROVAL_BADI" for determining the Approvers for PO whenevr a PO is changed.If the diference between the Old PO value and new PO value is > 1000 and the approval text field(custom text under "Documents" link) is set to "YES",then the WF approval is required and the approvers are determined.
    The above logic works fine for the Standard type PO's where the difference between the old value and new value is determined using FM "BBP_PD_PO_GETDETAIL"  by passing the GUID (for the change version and the active vesion) obtained at runtime in the BADI.
    However for the limit type PO's,whenevr I change the total value for the Limit item,I see that the FM "BBP_PD_PO_GETDETAIL" doesnt return the changed value but  always returns blank!
    Bcause I need to check bth the values i.e. Custom text set to "YES" as well as Total value diff ,I cant use the start conditions in tcode SWB_COND.ALso I need to fetch the approvers based on the price diff so I need this value at runtime in the BADI using the FM "BBP_PD_PO_GETDETAIL".
    Please advise why the FM is not returning the changed values for the Limit type PO and is there any other way(other table/FM) to get the changed value at runtime for the LIMIT type PO.
    Thanks for your time.
    Edited by: Rads1234 on Nov 18, 2010 4:39 AM

    Thanks for the rpely.
    Yes.I am using the GUID available at runtime in the  BADI "BBP_WFL_APPROV_BADI" which is the current change version GUID.I tried using that GUID to get the data from both FM as well as CDHDR and CDPOS tables.
    I think this is something related to LImit type PO because for Standard type PO's the FM returns the corretc changed value (as in the screen) for the change version GUID.I fail to understand why the changed values are shwon on the screen but are not stored anywhere in the system before actually ordering the PO!

  • Function to return the Entry Value based on Assignment, Element and Date

    Hi Guys,
    Is there a function that returns the Entry Value for the Assignment Element, based on the Assignment Number, Element Name, Entry Segment and the End of Period date?
    Example:
    ==============
    Input Parameters:
    Employee: Iana
    Assignment Num: 123
    Element: D480
    Element Entry: Fund Name
    Output Parameter:
    Element Entry Value: MLC Super Fund
    Thanks,

    For element entry values you can use:
    select petf.element_name, nvl(peevf.screen_entry_value,0) screen_entry_value
    from
    pay_element_entries_f peef, pay_element_types_f petf,
    pay_element_entry_values_f peevf, pay_input_values_f pivf,
    per_all_assignments_f paaf
    where petf.element_type_id = peef.element_type_id

  • AJAX - How do we check if the response text returns a null value

    Hello,
    Could someone please help me with this issue?
    I am trying to disable a select box based on my responseText value.
    I need to check if my responseText is a null and disable my select if it is a null.
    Here is my code:
    if (xmlHttp.readyState==4)
              if(xmlHttp.status==200)
              var getVal = xmlHttp.responseText;
              alert(getVal); //MY ALERT SHOWS A NULL
              if(getVal == null) //but my null comparison fails
              document.all[ajaxBean.ajaxId2].disabled = true;               var valarray=getVal.split(",");
    else
                   for (var i=0; i < valarray.length;++i)
         var valarrayinner = valarray.split("|");               addOption(document.getElementById("secondBox"), valarrayinner[1], valarrayinner[0]);
    could someone tell me if its the right way to check for null value in responseText? or an alternative way to do the same
    Your help is appreciated!
    Thanks
    Priya

    Hello,
    Thank you for your promt response...I tried doing them as well. but nothing seems to work.
    It returns a length value of 1. It appears to be strange. I even tried to catch the null and set some junk text. When i try to check for the returned text again it returns a false.
    I dont know if this is the way responseText works. I tried setting a form variable but it doesnt do that too. Is there a specific way to check for the values in returned responseText?
    Thanks
    Priya

  • AudiCLip.play should return a boolean value

    Java Experts,
    looks like it's a bug in java, the audioClip.play method should return a boolean value indicating whether it was able to play the clip or not. Because sometimes the method doesn't play anything. Right now the method plays asynchronously that may be the reason that it returns a void. Thoughts???

    i agree with you..i also encountered this problem sometimes the play method doesn't play and the programmer has no clue to figure this out programmetically...Looks like this problem has no solution..where are java experts in this forum??

  • Bug? using MAX() function on char(1) column returns something larger

    details:
    -- we have a complex nested query, where we are essentially returning the max() value into a variable
    -- the max() function is being used on a char(1) column
    -- where MAX() is part of an inner select, we have started getting
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    errors.
    SELECT MAX(X) INTO var FROM ... works in 9i and 10g
    SELECT X INTO var FROM (SELECT MAX(X) X FROM ... worked in 9i, does not work in 10g!
    -- We never had problems with the code until upgrading to 10g release 2.
    -- the Solution is to cast the final value with TO_CHAR(). The cast MUST be done at the outer most point of the select:

    SELECT X INTO var FROM (SELECT TO_CHAR(MAX(X)) X FROM ... causes an error!

    There is an easier workaround than yours. Try
    ALTER TABLE sql_bug_test MODIFY (z VARCHAR2(1));That seems to eliminate the problem on my instance.

  • How to select the larger value of column?

    I would like a cell value (here E8) to be for example: (max $E$1:E7) + B8. Where all previous E column values were find the same calculation except for E1 that is a simple number and not a calculation? It does not work. It give the result for E1 + B8. The larger value should be E7. So the correct result should be E7 + B8 but if there is no value in E7 I want it to choose the larger number of the E column so far. Does some one can help me?

    Hi Frederic,
    If I understand "Where all previous E column values were find the same calculation except for E1", you want each cell, starting at E2 to contain this formula.
    E2: =MAX($E$1:E1)+B2          E8: =MAX($E$1:E7)+B8
    If that's the case, then "there is no value in E7" would never occur, and, unless the value of Bn were negative, the maximum value in column E would always be the one immediately above the formula.
    In that case, this simpler formula would produce the same result:
    E2: =E1 + B2                        E8: =E7 + B8

  • Return with zero value

    Dear All
    Plz see below comments of Sujay.. can any one tell me is there any other sollution for that? plz note, while i am trying to use 501 MVT with ZSPR there is no FI doccument generated but if i use ROH material, then fi doc generated with value.. why and how it is happening?
    plz advice
    Subject: Re: maintaining spares returned
    Message: As per your mentioned specification what i see is  material type ZSPR is a valuated material, so in that case if you doing reverse movement 202 wrt 201 then it should cancel the effect of 10.00 RS, which the system is doing correctly.
    Now coming to your question if you want to return the material to your respective store without any valuation, then why don't you do 501 movement.
    BR

    thanks for clarification.
    however it will not change the answer in general.
    return from user departments are usually done with 202 movement, 501 is usually used for receipts from external vendors without having a PO.
    In any case the movements will be valuated with the price in the material master, if the material type is quantity and value managed.
    There is only one option to return at zero value: make the field fo external valuation in the movement optional, and try then to enter a zero manually while executing the movement. This will post the movement with no value and reduce the MAP of the material accordingly.
    But this is pretty dangerous as you will not really have a control about the use of this field, any user can enter any value and will effect the material prices.

  • How to pass a large value to a parameter of a service

    Hi Everyone,
    I need to execute service GET_SEARCH_RESULTS and want to provide values to its parameter QueryText. I am calling the service in the following manner:
    http://localhost/idc/idcplg?IdcService=GET_SEARCH_RESULTS&QueryText=<$keyTagID$>&ftx=&AdvSearch=True&SortField=xAvgRating&ResultCount=5
    hence passing <$keyTagID$> to QueryText. Now in my case, this variable <$keyTagID$> is becoming very large consequently making the whole of above URL very big. Its crossing the permissible limit of 2038 characters by Internet Explorer. Thus error 'URL too large' comes when I am executing the service.
    Please suggest me how to execute the service 'GET_SEARCH_RESULTS', so that I can provide a large value to the parameter QueryText. I thought of making use IdocScript function 'executeService', but so far as I know this function accepts only one argument which is service name. Thus how to provide values to parameters of a service with 'executeService' function?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ashish Gupta

    Hi,
    To send large arguments over HTTP you have to post them, basically setting up a form similar to this:
    <form action="<$HttpCgiPath$>" method="POST">
    <input type="hidden" name="IdcService" value="GET_SEARCH_RESULTS"/>
    <input type="hidden" name="QueryText" value="<$keyTagId$>"/>
    <input type="hidden" name="ftx" value=""/>
    <input type="hidden" name="AdvSearch" value="True"/>
    <input type="hidden" name="SortField" value="xAvgRating"/>
    <input type="hidden" name="ResultCount" value="5"/>
    <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit"/>
    </form>
    I'm not sure how much that helps if your users are currently just clicking a link. You could hide the form somewhere and have your link execute a javascript function which then posts the form.
