Requeriments for Web Dynpro for ABAP

Hi, people
I've got a little prob:
I'm triyng to use Web Dynpro with NW 6.40v, but it shows a pop up saiyng that it is not available for this version. I've read some manuals about WD and it appears to run only for WEB AS 7.0.
My question is: is this correct?
does it exist any patch?
Thanks.

Hi, see se80
WDA is not available in 6.40, only NW2004s

  • How to create the Dynamic UI element table in web dynpro in abap

    Hi All,
    Does anybody have reference note or teach me how to create dynamic UI element table in web dynpro in abap ?
    Regards,
    Luke

    HI LukeWong ,
    for creating any UI dynamically you shoul use their runtime class that always start with cl_wd_* ui element name*
    so for the Table UI element the runtime class is CL_WD_TABLE
    now reffer the below code for creating the Table UI dynamically
    METHOD wddomodifyview.
    DATA lr_table TYPE REF TO cl_wd_table.
    DATA lr_flow_data TYPE REF TO cl_wd_flow_data.
    DATA lr_container TYPE REF TO cl_wd_uielement_container.
    DATA lr_column_name TYPE REF TO cl_wd_table_column.
    DATA lr_text_view TYPE REF TO cl_wd_text_view.
    DATA lr_table_header TYPE REF TO cl_wd_caption.
    DATA lr_column_name_header TYPE REF TO cl_wd_caption.
    IF first_time EQ abap_true.
    lr_container ?= view->get_element( 'ROOTUIELEMENTCONTAINER' ).
    lr_table = cl_wd_table=>new_table(
    id = 'TBL_TABLE'
    bind_data_source = 'TABLE'
    design = cl_wd_table=>e_design-alternating
    visible_row_count = 3
    lr_flow_data = cl_wd_flow_data=>new_flow_data( element =
    lr_table ).
    lr_container->add_child( lr_table ).
    lr_column_name = cl_wd_table_column=>new_table_column(
    id = 'TBL_EXAMPLE_NAME'
    lr_table_header ?= cl_wd_caption=>new_caption( text = 'Table UI elem
    ent - example').
    lr_table->add_column( the_column = lr_column_name ).
    lr_table->set_header( lr_table_header ).
    lr_text_view = cl_wd_text_view=>new_text_view(
    id = 'TXV_NAME'
    bind_text = 'TABLE.NAME'
    lr_column_name_header ?= cl_wd_caption=>new_caption( text = 'Name').
    lr_column_name->set_table_cell_editor( the_table_cell_editor = lr_text_view).
    lr_column_name->set_header( lr_column_name_header ).
    ENDIF.
    ENDMETHOD.

  • Convert JAVA Web Dynpro to ABAP Web Dynpro application

    Hi,
    I was hoping someone could tell me if there is a way to port a JAVA Web Dynpro application to ABAP Web Dynpro. We have some JAVA WD apps that would now make more sense to have running on our ABAP system so we would like to convert them to ABAP WD apps.
    I know the theory is that WD is metadata/XML based so it should be possible to port the WD definition to ABAP and have the ABAP runtime generate the application again in ABAP. I expect that any custom code that is written in JAVA would need to be manually rewritten in ABAP - but it would be great if there was tool or method to at least port the majority of the application.
    Thanks in advance for your help,
    Simon

    Hi Simon
    You are correct in thinking that all WD apps are based on metadata, but unfortunately, the similarity between WD Java and WD ABAP is just a conceptual one, and no such tool exists to convert one to the other.
    In addition to this, there are certain implementation differences between ABAP and Java that mean you could not convert one to the other.  For instance, the whole concept of model objects does not exist in WD ABAP. Therefore, structural entities used in WD Java such as model components could not be tranlsated into anything that exists in ABAP, because the concept is redundant in the target language.
    Sorry about that, but Java and ABAP are sufficiently different beasts that such a tool is not possible.

  • BSP / Web-Dynpro (Java / Abap)  what to use in this case ?

    Hi all,
    i have some questions about all this BSP/Web-Dynpro stuff. We have an application (for health care written in Visual Studio) out there at our customers. Some of these customers are using SAP as their backend system. So we've writte some backend functionality (a cash processing, additional reports, a special invoice system etc.etc.) in Abap and Abap-Objects. Actually we are planing a new release for this backend stuff which is using the normal SAP Gui.
    Maybe we plan for the next release to convert our app to a Web based app and we discuss what SAP technology we should use for that.
    Here are my questions :
    - When and why should we use Web-Dynpro (Java) ?
    - Can't we use BSP ?
    - Is there any future for BSP ?
    - When will Web-Dynpro for ABAP be released (actually we are not a Java Shop so Abap is prefered)?
    Hope someone can answer my question.
    Greetings
    Henning

    If you don't mind, I am going to terminate discussion of Web Dynpro ABAP here. It is not that I want to, but we are in a difficult position with this development, and can not really discuss it too much.
    But, let me first make a few (last) comments:
    (*) BSP is available since WebAS 610 (which is now nearly at the end of its lifetime). WebAS 620 is the main platform out there, with NW04 (WebAS 640) now shipping, and the next product is inevitably coming. If you keep in mind that SAP supports each release at least 7 years, and we will be shipping BSP in an upcoming release, you can see that with BSP you are not going to left stranded for many years to come.
    (*) Web Dynpro Java is out and shipping. A very nice development environment. You can build nice things with it.
    (*) Web Dynpro ABAP: it will become a very nice product as well. We should know :). But, it will definitely not ship on NW04 platform. Which unfortunately means the next great NW shipment (both naming and date is not available).
    From our experience, most people seem to make their decisions based on the available Java versus ABAP skills in the shop. However, the other factor to look at is also "pixel perfect" rendering. Only with BSP can you influence the rendering. Web Dynpro is more a development platform for business applications, and as such they must conform to the designated model/concepts, etc.

  • Calling java web dynpro from ABAP

    Hi!!
    I have a double problem!
    First I want to call a java web dynpro application from ABAP. I managed to do it using :
    call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>execute
      exporting
        document = url
      exceptions
        others   = 1.
    Where url is the java application url with parameters. It's working...
    ...but here comes the second problem : i need SSO So first solution is not sufficent.
    Can anybody help?

    Ok looking for the solution i figure out that it won't be possible anyway, i need a first log to the portal in order to issue a logon ticket before any attempt of SSO authentication.

  • Why not "Web Dynpro *with* ABAP"?

    As a newbie I found "Web Dynpro for ABAP" to be confusing.  Any ideas why its worded that way?  Just curious.

    Hi,
    because it's a programming <u>model</u> created <u>for</u> abap programming.
    If you look at the true content of webdynpro you come out at:
    declarative programming of all the navigation, ui, datadisplay and gathering, without
    writing the code, but letting the code to be generated.
    so it's a concept build for abap,
    not with abap (although the classes and interfaces are)

  • Java Web dynpro with ABAP Clients?

    Morning,
    We have a situation where we would like to use a Java Web dynpro with multiple ABAP backend data sources. This is for autorization as well as data. We are not using Enterprise Portal.
    We've created a pair of system Jcos and mapped them to the Web dynpro via the URL. This works and the correct data from the correct Client is retrieved depending on which pair of Jcos we define in the URL.
    The problem we are having is that we are only able to logon using the ABAP Client defined in the ume....master.client parameter.
    Is there a way to achieve this (again without EP) either in the system configuration or programatically in the web dynpro?
    tia
    Cheers,
    Mitch

    Hello,
    Thanks for the updates. Actually my query is we have a SCM 5.0 system which has a java stack in it. But now we are going to upgrade it  to SCM  7.0. -  Is SCM 7.0 has a java stack ?
    If it doesn't have , can we upgrade SCM 5.0 to  SCM 7.0 without Java Stack ? Is it posssible to upgrade without Java Stack or not ?
    Is it possible that  we can convert Java Stuff into ABAP web dyn pro ? If yes , how shall we can achieve it ? If not, how shall we proceed in an alternate way ?
    Thanks for your help  in advance.

  • How to create Variants in Web Dynpro using ABAP

    Can anyone please tell how to create and save variants in a Web DynPro application using ABAP.
    Also state the steps involved in saving and loading the variants.

    hi,
    For calender control, there is Date Navigator under "complex tab". You can just click and drag it and provide calender control.
    One more easy way is to create a input field. In the context, create a node and attribute of type "D"(which means DATE). And bind the context to your input field under "values" in property window. While running the program, you will see an calender attached to lt on the input field.

  • Accessing a R/3 Workflow workitem directly using Web Dynpro Java/ABAP

    Hi,
    I have a requirement for which I am not sure what will be the correct forum to post. But I guess it involves Portal / Web Dynpro so I started from here.
    You can guide me to correct path as we move forward.
    Current Scenario:-
    There is a work-flow prepared in SAP R/3 system which triggers a mail to user with a link to Portal UWL. In UWL, user may select the task and click on it to execute.
    Scenario to be developed:-
    Instead of link in email to UWL, link should directly navigate to work-item in Work-flow.
    Any idea how this can be done?
    Thanks and regards,
    Amey Mogare

    I could make use of a standard SAP Transaction iView.
    Location in portal catalogue:-
    Content Provided by sap --> End User Content --> Standard Portal Users --> iviews --> com.sap.nw.bc.uwl.iviews --> uwl launch sap transaction
    Here is the example:-

  • Starting existing workflow from web dynpro application (ABAP)

    Hi experts,
        I am working on web dynpro application from which when I click on a button an existing workflow should trigger. This will be used in portal replacing existing iview with jsp. I did lot of reading on SDN maybe too much that I am confused how to get started. Here is what I have currently.
    We have an existing workflow that sends an approval email to manager when ever some unit information changes. In current functionality, workflow is triggered by event which is linked to workflow in transaction "swetypv". We defined scenario in "qisrscenario" that contains all elements to populate workflow container. The methods to get data into workflow container, send email etc are all written in business object methods. We have a class that implements standard SAP BADI "IF_EX_QISR1"(IF_EX_QISR1~SCENARIO_PROCESS_USER_COMMAND method) that probably has all logic. In current functionality when the workflow gets created it sends notification number back to portal jsp page that triggered the workflow on button click. Users look at notification number in iqs23 for workflow log, PCR form data etc. and I need that functionality too. Now I am confused where I should start so that I can use ew web dynpro applciation instead of jsp iview but want all the functionality that we currently have. How can I start workflow and get notification number back to web dynpro so that I can display that to user? The approving manager goes to UWL to approve, reject the workitem and workflow then finishes.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Mithun

  • RE:Web dynpro in ABAP

    Hi all,
    What is the use of component controller,custom controller and interface controller.In wht senarios we use them.Also please explain about its visibility with other components..
    Regards,
    Alex.

    hi
    What is the use of component controller,custom controller and interface controller.In wht senarios we use them
    Component controller
    There is only one component controller per Web Dynpro component. This is a global controller, visible to all other controllers. The component controller drives the functionality of the entire component. This controller has no visual interface. The lifetime of the component controller equals the lifetime of the component. When starting a Web Dynpro application, the component controller is instantiated by the Web Dynpro runtime
    Custom controllers
    Custom controllers are optional. They have to be defined at design time and can be used to encapsulate sub-functions of the component controller. Multiple custom controllers can be defined in a component. Custom controllers are instantiated automatically by the Web Dynpro framework and the instantiation order is undefined; therefore, the coding in a custom controller should make no assumptions about the existence of any other custom controller. The instantiation of a custom controller is delayed until the first method of the controller is called. Custom controller instances cannot be deleted explicitly.
    Interface Controller
    The interface controller is used for cross-component communication. It defines the controller part of the interface of a Web Dynpro component. The interface controller itself does not contain any implementation.
    For the interface controller of a Web Dynpro controller, the methods are implemented in the related component controller.
    For the interface controller of a component interface definition, the implementation is performed in the component controller of the embedding component.

  • Search help in Web Dynpro in ABAP

    Hi,
    I am starting with WD for ABAP (NW04s). I am using PA0022 table as model and displaying these values on the view. By default most of the fields like country, education centre, Faculty, Branch, Score come with an F4 option. But the value displayed in these fields are always key fields(Numeric), which would not make any sense for the end user. Now I would like the Text/Descriptions to be displayed against each field.

  • Showing Image in Web Dynpro using ABAP

    Hi All,
    I am new to Web Dynpro ABAP , basically my requirement is to show a image , could any one please tell me the steps to do that , i have already uploaded the image in application server using T-code smw0 , and in the layout i have taken the element IMAGE.
    I have also made the context node as Image and under that i have made three attributes named as :-
    IMAGE (Context Node)
    source (Attibute type string)
    tooltip (Attribute type string)
    visible (Attribute type WDUI_VISIBILITY)
    In the WDDOINIT  method i have written the following code.
    DATA:
    context_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,
    context_elem TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element,
    stru_image TYPE if_image_view=>element_image.
    fill structure with values
    stru_image-source = 'abc.gif'.
    stru_image-tooltip = 'Image Tooltip!!'.
    stru_image-visible = '02'. "=visible
    navigate to <IMAGE> via lead selection
    context_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = `IMAGE` ).
    get element via lead selection
    context_elem = context_node->get_element( ).
    bind structure to context element image
    CALL METHOD context_elem->set_static_attributes
    EXPORTING
    static_attributes = stru_image.
    But I am getting the error if_image_view does not exist.
    Please help me and guide me if I am proceeding in a wrong way.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Rachit Khanna

    Hi ,
    Its very simple ....
    Dont use any transaction to upload image.
    right click on component and select
    create->mime_object->import
    suppose ur image is on desktop...
    So select the path of desktop select the image and click ok.
    U will see an MIMEs named folder in ur component and under which u will have ur image.
    now add image element into UI and there u will have source name property ...just write the name of ur image file and test ur application.
    U can see the image in output..
    (Also there are different properties of image element to set the position and other things)
    any queries ..feel free to ask
    regards
