Reset SAP* user in DB2 database

hi gurus,
Can anyone give me instructions or commands on how to reset sap* password in the database level? we are using db2 ver. 9 database. I am familiar how it is being done in oracle but one of our client is using DB2 and there, we encountered the problem.
Pls. advise.

First make sure that the parameter
login/no_automatic_user_sapstar is set to 0 (false)
otherwise you will not be able to login using SAP* by the default password "pass". So make this sure before carrying out the following activity:
Log on to the database with userid ora<sid> and
execute the following SQL:
delete from sap<SID>.usr02 where bname='sap*' and mandt='XXX';
commit;
Once this is done check the entry again in the table usr02.
Now try to log into the corresopnding client with user "sap*" and password "pass".
This is how you can reset SAP* user at the database level.

We are trying to install MDM with DB2 Database (10.1).

Now while granting the privileges to the user db2mdm we are facing below issues.

I know that we cannot assign authorization to the same user which is executing the command, but the question is what is the way around as we have tried creating users and then trying to assign authorization via them but it is failing.
I am not sure how this is going to work when the document is asking to do the same.

Have you tried to logon as a different user who belongs to the db2admns group and run the command again?
This should be very simple to fix.

Sorting Order for SAP Tables in DB2 database

Dear Experts -
ISSUE: When an ABAP program selects data from the DB into an internal
table, it is changing the way the data is sorted. In other words, the
internal table data is in a different sort order than what is in the
DB. It is not working this way in all other non-production systems
(DEV, QAS, SAX, etc).
Temporary solution for the programs that have been identified as
impacted: Use the ABAP Command 'sort' on the internal table.
Permanent solution needed : Since it is impossible to identify all
of the programs that will be impacted, we need PRD to work like DEV,
QAS, SAX, etc. when selecting data into internal tables. The data
should be in the same order as it is in the DB (sorted by the key).
ADDITIONAL INFO: DB2 storage disks crashed a day before. H/W team recovered everything. We are facing this only after the recovery.

can you please check in your code if the sql that is being sent has an order by clause .
Please let us know the SQL statements that is basically used to fill up the internal table.
When data is fetched from the database, it is not sorted always. Probably you had a clustered index on the tables and the clustering is not there now.

Saving Data in SAP and DB2 database

I have an SAP application in which 10 fields are there for the user to enter. Out this 10 fields i need to save 5 fields in SAP database and another 5 in DB2 database.Please help me how to achieve this.

Hi Jesse,
The Citadel database is not a relational database. It's highly optimized for storing lower-rate (non-waveform) channel-by-channel, or "trace" measurement data. Another option you can consider is using DSC and Citadel on the server then writing a utility to export the data from Citdael to an SQL database. --That would solve the problem of having to write a logger application from scratch. You would only have to write the relatively simple application to export the data from Citadel and import it into a relational database.
You could accomplish this two ways. First, DSC includes a set of VIs that will retrieve historical data from Ciatdel. You could use LabVIEW to parse this data and write it to a table in a relational database. Second, Citadel actually includes a locally accessible ODBC interface. (You can query Citadel using an SQL query from the local computer). You could query Citadel using this interface, then write the result to a table in a relational database.
To view Citadel in its native format or query a Citadel database using ODBC from a remote comptuer that comptuer would need to have a licensed DSC RTS installed.

SAP Org Chart: connection error in setting connection to DB2 database

Dear SAP Experts,
We have installed SAP staged installation of SAP OrgChart 2.0. We are not in the process of connecting to the DB2 database.
We encountered the following error as shown below when in the SAPExtractor configuration.
Destination Database Details
The extracted SAP tables will be saved in the specified database.
Connection Failed: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

We have already created a database named ExtractedData using the Console center of DB2. Can you help us to check what might caused this connection failure.

Hello Luke,
I have provided the connection details in Admin Console. I am currently doing the configuration for SAPExtractor under Destination Database details.
I used the following details:
Server Type: DB2
Server Name: UKDCASAP09
Initial Catalog: EXTDATA
User Name: db2nks
Password: ********
Upon test connection, we get a connection failure message:
Connection Failed: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
From the CDS.log, I got this error message:
ERROR: DataConnectionProcessor : createDB2NativeConnection : Source {IBM.Data.DB2}: Message {The type initializer for 'IBM.Data.DB2.DB2Connection' threw an exception.}
I am not sure if this has something to do with the DB2 set-up. I have checked that the instance we created is already running and connected using the db admin user "db2nks"

AS/400 db2 database asks signon to AS/400 prompt for USER ID and PASSWORD when BO report is refreshed by client users

I have created a report which is using AS/400 db2 database.Connection is setup in a universe and through Client Access ODBC driver.
Users are trying to connect AS/400 db2 system through ODBC(Client Access ODBC driver) and full client BO 6.5.
It asks for signon to AS/400 prompt for USER ID and PASSWORD when BO report is refreshed by users.
Is there any way i can avoid the USER ID and PASSWORD as it is not feasible to give database USER ID and PASSWORD to each users.

How to unlock DDIC & SAP* user in 000 client-Sybase database

Dear Experts,
Accidentally DDIC and SAP* user in 000 client has locked. We are using SYBASE ASE database. I know how to unlock user in other database (eg:update <sid>.USR02 set UFLAG = 0 where BNAME = '<user id>'' and mandt = <clinet number>;).
what is the equal query in Sybase.

Please try below commands
Login to Sybase ASE database using
isql -Usa -S<SID> ( it will prompt for password)
use <DBSID>
To check the account status
select UFLAG from USR02 where BNAME ='SAP*' and MANDT='000'
go
To unlock the account
update USR02 set UFLAG=0 where BNAME='SAP*' and MANDT='000'
go
You may add schema owner SAPSR3.USR02 in the query if above query does not work.

i need your help in how to Reset SAP GUI passwords for number of users one time, as we have non-SAP users, only ESS users that they are currently using Portal ESS, but we need to reset thier GUI passwords so that they will not be accessing the GUI.

You can also create an ABAP program which can be used to do a mass user password change.
Here are the functions that will do what you need
SUSR_GENERATE_PASSWORD - Generates a Password. Use this function only if you want to do random passwords. Otherwise you can upload your own password.
BAPI_USER_CHANGE - You can use this BAPI to change just the password of a user
Here is an example of some abap code. There may be some syntax errors and possible other issues. I just typed this out and didnt check it. You upload a comma delimited file which is the username,password. If the password field is blank the program will generate its own. Hope this helps

While doing the sap installation please avoid using special character in password. Use the simple password like password123.
One more thing is that also cross check the password policy from your os admin, like complexity lenth etc. If its there then tell him to temporary disable the policy.

Reset or Clear SAP user context by external RFC caller program

Hello,
I have a SAP system with performance problems due to a SAP user context starts using a lot of memory.
This user context comes from an External RFC caller program written in Delphi and which uses the SAP RFC SDK provided by SAPGUI 6.40: SAP Automation library, SAPFuntionsOCX, I mean, using methods in the object "SAPFunctions" in SAPFunctionsOCX in file "wdtfuncU.ocx", in SAPGUI directory.
Everytime we have performance problems, this RFC SAP user context is using near 1400 Mb of extended memory, although there is a lot of free physical RAM memory available, there are free dialog processes and CPU load is low (no more than 30%).
This performance problem is solved by closing the external program (written in Delphi) which connects to SAP via RFC.
This external program works for the warehouse management and connects to SAP several times per minute. Due to connection performance and the high frequency with which this external program must connect to SAP, the connection to SAP is not closed after each call to RFC SAP function modules.
The extended memory used by this SAP RFC user is growing along time. I detected, using ST03 transaction, that these user sessions have always the same transaction code hash, I mean, although the external programs call the same SAP RFC funcion modules several times (¡¡¡ always clearing the variables at the beginning and at the end of de ABAP code, with ABAP commands like REFRESH and FREE ¡¡¡¡) the technical transaction code is the same and I suppose the user context (in extended memory) is not deleted.
I think it is better than the external program close the context memory (similar to "/n" okcode in SAPGUI).
But we don't want to close the connection, because the external program connects to SAP with a high frequency, and the logon process is expensive.
Is there any way to send something similar to "/n" (end of transaction) from the external program? Is there any command in the SAP RFC SDK library (SAPFuntionsOCX or something similar?
I cannot find any method to do that in the object "SAPFunctions" in SAPFunctionsOCX in file "wdtfuncU.ocx", in SAPGUI directory.

The external program only calls a certain SAP function module periodically and we want to free the user context between calls without logging off. This is the same, very similar, as if we called that function from SAPGUI and we used "/n" in SAPGUI between calls.

I don't know if this will solve your problem, but you may be using MF 'RFC_CONNECTION_CLOSE' between each call of you RFC function.

When you use DB2 SQL flavor, the ADF BC use the oracle.jbo.server.DB2SQLBuilderImpl class as an SQLBuilder. This class determines the JDBC driver class name as follows:
1) If the JBO configuration parameter jbo.sql92.JdbcDriverClass in not empty, then the JDBC driver class name is taken from there;
2) If the jbo.sql92JdbcDriverClass parameter is empty, then:
<ul><li>If the JDBC URL starts with "jdbc:db2://", then com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver
<li>If the JDBC URL starts with "jdbc:oracle:db2", then com.oracle.ias.jdbc.db2.DB2Driver
<li>If the JDBC URL starts with "jdbc:datadirect:db2", then com.ddtek.jdbc.db2.DB2Driver
<li>Otherwise, COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver</ul>
(Have a look at the source of the method DB2SQLBuilderImpl.getJDBCDriverClassName(String url) for more details).
It is seen from the log in your first post that the parameter jbo.sql92.JdbcDriverClass is empty. As far as your JDBC URL starts with neither of the prefixes specified above (e.g. your URL starts with "jdbc:as400://"), then you should specify the necessary JDBC driver class in the JBO configuration parameter jbo.sql92.JdbcDriverClass. (You can specify it in the AM configuration parameters or in adf-config.xml).

No users available ; no database client tool

Hi,
during a system copy we are stuck due to the fact that we can not logon to the 4.6C system. SAP is up-and-running without errors.
The database runs on the IBM Mainframe with zOS with DB V8. The SAP application server runs on AIX. Since it is a older version it runs with the ICLI-client as interface for connection between SAP and DB2; not DB2Connect.
The problems are multiple
we can not apply a new saplicense to the system (not even a temp license), because we get saplicense connection errors.

We have no high privileged users on the system (they now can not login, because of license problems). Furthermore no password of SAPStar.
A way to go would be to delete the sapstar-user in the database. The problem is that we can not find the tool to connect to the database. This installation works with the ICLI-client, so if we use DB2Connect (db2) we also get the message that ICLI-server is use. So connecting here is not possible.

You can get into DB from the SYSTEM Z side using spufi and DB2 commands.
Find a DBA they should be able to get information .

Online DB2 database Copy via backup/restore

I have to perform an online database copy of our SAP which is running on DB2, but I do not want to use the SAPinst method
I just want to perform it through the backup/restore method as I always do with oracle databases

Follow the below step db2 nackup restore activity.
1). Perform full offline or online backup of source system
2). Go to cd /sapmnt/SSID/exe and run the below script
brdb6brt -bm RETRIEVE -es –replace SourceSID=TargetSID,db2SourceSID=db2TargetSID,/db2/SourceSID=/db2/TargetSID
3). Above Generate the script copy the Target System.
4). Offline PRD (Target System) Backup Images copy to Source Path (Any One Path)
5). Stop SAP System only DB2 must be Started.
6). Start the db2 backup redirect restored in Quality System
7). before run the script below activity must be finished.
Make Changes to the restore script
Go to script path
1). Replace Source SID (XXX) with Target SID (XXX)
2). Change the backup location
3). User (source db2sid) USING (Source db2sid Password)
USER db2xxx USING XXX(Password)
8). Restoring Database
Log in db2sid (db2sid) User
Go to backup & script Path
9). Run the below Script
db2 -tvf <script.scr> for exp. db2 -tvf xxx_NODE0000.scr
After successfully restore backup below command run
10). First Check Roll Forward Status
Open DB with the below command
db2 rollforward db <TargetSID> query status – check status of DB
db2 rollforward db <TargetSID> complete
11). Once the copy is complete we can check below parameter and make corrections as per your preprocessing
Db2 list tablespaces show detail (To check tablespaces)
parameter automatic storage & re-sized YES
Check the Archive log (LOGARCHMATH1) path
Log in db2sid & run the below command for change the db2 LOGARCHMATH1 Parameter value.
After successfully change the parameter restart the db2 database
12). Perform below step before the Start SAP System
13). Create SAP connects user using
PATH :- /usr/sap/SID/SYS/global
scdb6up create <connect user password> <sidadm password>
above command will update entry in /sapmnt/SID/global/dscdb6.conf

How to save data in DB2 database

Hi All,
I have an SAP webdynpro application in which 10 fields are there for the user to enter. Out this 10 fields i need to save 5 fields in SAP database and another 5 in DB2 database.Please help me how to achieve this.

Am I right that your requirement is to save some fields into the SAP DB2 database and to save the other fields
to an external DB2 database.
For that you have to setup the connection with transaction DBCO (tabel DBCON),
