Resizing Probs........

i have two probs both related to Resizing .
I am using a SpringLayout to resize my application.....
everything is working Fine.
Prob no 1 is that i am not able to fix the minimum size of the screen , the user can resize the screen to anyextent which ruins the GUi of the screen. Though i know i can trap the window resize event and if the size of the window is less then the size desired then change the size to the min preffered size ...but what i want is to STOp the user from even reducing the size from the desired size...
Second prob is the resize of the Controlls in side takes place when i stop resizing the window but i want resizing of the controll to take place with the resizing of the screen not when i am done with the resizing

Some of the skins have a minimum width requirements (the ones
with ALL components have a 270 pixels wide minimum setting). You
have to select a skin with a smaller width requirement such as any
using just the PlayMute controlls (min 96 pix wide).
Otherwise you'll have to create your own controller using the
components in the component library.

  • CardLayout Problems

    When switching cards using the show() method some of the contents of the card is not shown. On the card that has the problem I have a JSplitPane with two JScrollPane's in the JSplitPane. In the JScrollPane's I use a JPanel with the null layout. The contents of the JScrollPane do not appear. If I start the applet showing the card with the problem everything shows fine. If I start the applet showing another card and then switch to the card in question this is when the problem occurs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey thanks for the response, I never thought anyone would touch this >one. :) you rock.np, that's what the forum is here for. And after all I'm just TRYING to help...;)
    according to what you said it really seems to be a resizing prob, 'cause
    Have you ever tried starting the applet with the
    prob-card on top, switching to another one and then
    switching back? what happens, the card is still ok?Yes, and everything is fine. this speaks quite in it's favor....
    If the applet does not change size however, no matter what card you start it with, this (could) mean two things (assuming that it is, in fact, a resizing problem):
    first possibiliy: other components within the card are resized to their downside when sarting with the prob-causing card so that it has enough space, when starting with the 'standard'-one they are not scaled down not leaving place for the rpob-causing card.
    second: it has to do with the embedding in the html environment, I mean, the size of the area grantet to the applet is absolutely constant, and when starting with the prob-causer a bit of the applets'border is cut off, just like putting a picture frame over a too big photograph...
    As for the second (possible) case: try to alter the embedding settings, in order to leave enough space to the applet or someting...
    And for the first:...well, I know it's a vague advice but...try to remove ANY other items from the applet leaving just the cards, and play around with it....
    I'll post as soon as something more productive crosses my mind..(but that will be after the xmas vacation, I guess ;D
    btw.: ever tried to run the same applet in a tabbed pane instead of the card layout and see what happens?
    p.s:merry xmas, so long...

  • Problem with panel resize option

    Hi all,
    I am working on an application which i want to run on all the different resolutions. So, i searched the whole LV forum to get the solution for my problem.
    after going through many related discussions i found that one should develop the app in the min resolution which it should support and in the VI properties the option for panel resizing should be tick marked.
    i did exactly the same, but still couldn't get it worked for my application.
    i am developing my app on 1024*768 resolution. it runs fine on the same resolution if i don't tick mark the resizing option. but, when i tick mark the option and run the app on the same resolution, it crops some part from the bottom.
    I am attaching the picture of the interface when run with resizing option and without it.
    Pls look into the prob and let me know how can i make it work?
    Thanks,
    Ritesh

    For a GUI of this nature, there is no easy answer to this problem.  Search the forums for "large font" to get many examples of how people have solved this issue.  I usually bite the bullet and handle all resizing myself.  An example of this can be found here.
    Since you want to cover the entire workspace, you need to know what this is.  There are two VI server methods which will give you pieces of this information.  Display:All Monitors will give you the valid coordinates for all monitors attached to the computer.  Display: Primary Workspace will give you the useable workspace of the primary monitor.  This does not include the space used by the Windows taskbar (and, I assume, the GNOME, OS X, or KDE equivalents, but have not verified this), so is different from the area given by the first property.  You can fairly easily determine which display is the primary workspace by checking bounds, but do not assume that the taskbar is on bottom of the display when you do this.
    If you have problems finding information or something is not clear, let us know.

  • Resizing partition for windows

    Hi everyone, so yeah, resizing my /home partition so I can fit windows onto my hard drive.
    I have my main HDD, sda1 has my root files '/' and sda2 has my /home
    I've backed up /home to an external but I'm a little uncertain of what to do next. I was planning on using cfdisk to format /home and create a smaller one, then create an ntfs partition. Can I do all of this inside of cfdisk? (only used this once when I was installing arch).
    Then what about grub? Do I have to do anything special for that?
    I've looked around a little and can't find anything similar to my situation, sorry if I've missed something obvious! Thanks folks

    you don't have to delete the partition,
    you can resize it (if not with cfdisk - with partition editor - like gparted).
    you have to add windows to grub (manualy or with os-prober).
    and i think all these are in the wiki.

  • Howto fit content without resizing?

    Is it possible to make a bitmap constantly align to the upper-left of its frame - but not having the bitmap resize?

    No prob, Kasper. The bit about an "override" is this: InDesign allows for creation of "styles" that make formatting of text and objects faster & easier to control than doing everything manually. So if you go to Window -> Styles -> Object Styles, you'll see a Basic Graphics Frame and a Basic Text Frame. You can create as many object styles as you want, with as many or as few features (fill? stroke? drop shadow? transparency?) as you like, and then apply them all at once with one click. Frame Fitting Options just happens to be one of the many object parameters you can control with an Object Style.
    Of course, if you want to diverge from your style a bit, you can manually tweak whatever you want. If you've applied manual formatting to an object that you set up with an Object STyle, then a little plus symbol appears next to the style name when you've selected it, indicating that you've overridden the style definition with some manual formatting.
    So, feel free to continue using Frame FItting Options manually. But if you are dealing with a large number of objects, and your mouse-clicking muscle is tired from the number of clicks you need to go through per object to set it up the way you want (direct select tool -> right click on object -> navigate to Frame Fitting Options -> make selections in dropdown and reference proxy -> hit OK), just be aware of this other way of styling objects (select object -> select object style) exists.
    Also, when your client says "I love it! But can you make all 1,200 images hug the lower left instead of the upper left?" you can do it in five clicks, instead of 6000 clicks.

  • Make the default probes smarter

    Custom probes are great, however unlike the default probes you do not always have them with you...so why not just make the default probes just a tad smarter?  - The array probe e.g. should not just show a single cell - it should by default show at least some of them (1*10 for 1D, 10*10 if 2D etc. e.g.), have it's scrollbars visible and be resizable?  You could add some core information about the array, like it's size e.g. in an indicator on the top as well....and perhaps have a pull-down menu for the display format. Keep it general and simple of course, but a bit more convenient than today's probe.   - The string probe should also be resizable and have a control that let's you switch the display format. - etc.

    We have reached a point of "minimum return on investment" for custom probes. Although there are still plenty of tweaks that could be made to the probes for individual data types, the request for improved probe functionality is but one request among a sea of requests from our users, and it is generally better for R&D to focus on the items that cannot be done by our users rather than by popularizing customizations that can be done by users. This is a constant problem for a wide range of LabVIEW features, custom probes being only one of many. As LV's existing feature list gets longer, R&D faces a constant struggle between introduction of new features (which is what drives short-term sales and upgrades), incremental improvements of existing features (which drives the perception of stability and usability and thus long-term sales and upgrades), and tuning LV for various niche customers (which drives both long and short-term).  On the custom probes front, I would suggest that instead of posting a request for R&D to improve the custom probes that instead you post individual VIs that you would like to see us ship as default custom probes. These VIs should be free from any intellectual property restrictions (read the Terms of Use [linked at bottom of page] for details about VIs that you post). Then the community can kudos individual custom probes. Collecting popular VIs and shipping them with LV is a more productive use of our time than trying to guess what the most useful customizations are and trying to ship them, hoping that the beta feedback is enough to let us know whether we got it right or not.  If you do start posting these, in order that we can identify all the ideas that are specifically new custom probes for us to evaluate, consider using the convention of naming your idea "New Custom Probe: XYZ.vi"  or "New Custom Probe: XYZ.llb" (the second for times when you have a whole batch of custom probes in a single idea... they should generally be on related data types or else be posted as separate ideas). If you take this route, I think you'll have a lot more success both at getting R&D to pick up the idea AND at getting custom probes added that you actualy find useful.  Just to be clear: I'm not saying R&D has no responsibility for improving the probes. We do. But our attention over time becomes more and more divided, and having the community post the VIs themselves rather than us developing those VIs is more likely to be a successful strategy in the short run than waiting for enough issues to pile up such that it becomes a top priority worthy of allocating an R&D developer to the project.

  • Unique Image/MC Resize Help Needed

    Hi, I'm trying to achieve an effect, I'm hoping someone can
    help me with.
    I want an image to fill the entire screen of a browser window
    & automatically resize to fill the window area no matter the
    size of the browser; here is the exact effect I'm looking for:
    http://www.thewreckers.com/
    You'll notice that if you resize the browser window on the x
    axis, the image gets smaller, but if you resize on the y axis, the
    image
    stays the current size and only moves up and down, keeping
    the blonde singer's eyes centered on the page.
    I'm not a scripter, so exact syntax or even better, a sample
    FLA would be amazing!
    The only complaint I have about the sample is on Safari, the
    browser scroll bars show up.
    Also, how can I lock objects to the corners like the URL
    example?
    Thanks in advance for any solutions you might have.
    P.S. I'm using Flash 8, not CS3
    C

    I've sorted the crop ration for a 3:2 image but resulting in a much smaller image.
    Could you give me the details? How much smaller? What size is it? What else did you change other than the aspect ratio?
    I then then tried a 16:9 ratio which is much better
    Details please? What is better? (And why try this if you need 3:2??)
    seem to have run into a similar prob in that calculations say for a 40 x 20 I'll need 6,000 x 12,000 but lr4 will only ouutput 6,000 by 10,667.
    You are repeating your initial mistake. Images cropped to 16:9 aspect ratio cannot export to a 3:2 aspect ratio. Only images cropped to a 3:2 aspect ratio will export to a 3:2 aspect ratio.

  • My apps dance open and close on their own in my IPad 2 what can be the prob? I have already restored

    I got the charger flex or pin changed and now the apps dance on the screen, photos open and zoom in, then out, the other apps open and close. I have already restored the device with Itunes and prob is still there. What can be the problem? Any suggestion will be welcome. Thank you

    THANKS for your prompt reply  Bluetooth is off in my laptop and IPhone.. and in fact the reset is the only thing that can make it back to normal. But for a lil while. I wonder if it is the touch, or the home botton... both things are very expensive to replace, so I wouldn't like to spend $$ and continue having the prob.....

  • Resized animated gif ImageIcon not working properly with JButton etc.

    The problem is that when I resize an ImageIcon representing an animated gif and place it on a Jbutton, JToggelButton or JLabel, in some cases the image does not show or does not animate. More precicely, depending on the specific image file, the image shows always, most of the time or sometimes. Images which are susceptible to not showing often do not animate when showing. Moving over or clicking with the mouse on the AbstractButton instance while the frame is supposed to updated causes the image to disappear (even when viewing the non-animating image that sometimes appears). No errors are thrown.
    Here some example code: (compiled with Java 6.0 compliance)
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Test
         public static void main(String[] args)
              new Test();
         static final int  IMAGES        = 3;
         JButton[]           buttons       = new JButton[IMAGES];
         JButton             toggleButton  = new JButton("Toggle scaling");
         boolean            doScale       = true;
         public Test()
              JFrame f = new JFrame();
              f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
              JPanel p = new JPanel(new GridLayout(1, IMAGES));
              for (int i = 0; i < IMAGES; i++)
                   p.add(this.buttons[i] = new JButton());
              f.add(p, BorderLayout.CENTER);
              f.add(this.toggleButton, BorderLayout.SOUTH);
              this.toggleButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
                   @Override
                   public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
                        Test.this.refresh();
              f.setSize(600, 300);
              f.setVisible(true);
              this.refresh();
         public void refresh()
              this.doScale = !this.doScale;
              for (int i = 0; i < IMAGES; i++)
                   ImageIcon image = new ImageIcon(i + ".gif");
                   if (this.doScale)
                        image = new ImageIcon(image.getImage().getScaledInstance(180, 180, Image.SCALE_AREA_AVERAGING));
                   image.setImageObserver(this.buttons);
                   this.buttons[i].setIcon(image);
                   this.buttons[i].setSelectedIcon(image);
                   this.buttons[i].setDisabledIcon(image);
                   this.buttons[i].setDisabledSelectedIcon(image);
                   this.buttons[i].setRolloverIcon(image);
                   this.buttons[i].setRolloverSelectedIcon(image);
                   this.buttons[i].setPressedIcon(image);
    Download the gif images here:
    http://djmadz.com/zombie/0.gif
    http://djmadz.com/zombie/1.gif
    http://djmadz.com/zombie/2.gif
    When you press the "Toggle scaling"button it switches between unresized (properly working) and resized instances of three of my gif images. Notice that the left image almost never appears, the middle image always, and the right image most of the time. The right image seems to (almost) never animate. When you click on the left image (when visble) it disappears only when the backend is updating the animation (between those two frames with a long delay)
    Why are the original ImageIcon and the resized ImageIcon behaving differently? Are they differently organized internally?
    Is there any chance my way of resizing might be wrong?

    It does work, however I refuse to use SCALE_REPLICATE for my application because resizing images is butt ugly, whether scaling up or down. Could there be a clue in the rescaling implementations, which I can override?
    Maybe is there a way that I can check if an image is a multi-frame animation and set the scaling algorithm accordingly?

  • How can I get just the text to resize, rather than the entire web page?

    I used to be able to re-size just text on a webpage by typing Ctrl + +. Today, the entire webpage re-sizes, and when I move to another page it reverts. (I see this mostly in Facebook.). Why did this change, and can I go back to having just the text re-size?

  • How can I implement a status bar at the bottom of a resizable application?

    Hello all,
    I am a JavaFx newbie and I am implementing an application (a Sokoban game), with a menu at the top of the frame and a gaming area covering the rest of the frame. To support the game, I have to load images at certain positions in the gaming area.
    The game also includes a level editor with another menubar and where images are set to other positions.
    I implemented this in another view, swiching from the game mode to the level editor mode and vice versa is just done by setting the other view visible. Up to now this works, here the important statements building these details:
    Group root = new Group();
    gameView = new Group(); // for gaming mode
    le_view = new Group()   // for level editor mode
    MenuBar gameMenubar = new MenuBar();
    Menu menuGame = new Menu(bundle.getString("MenuGame"));
    ... building the menu items and menues ...
    gameView.getChildren().add(gameMenubar);
    ImageView buildingView[][] = new ImageView[22][22];
    for (nCol = 0; nCol < 22; nCol++) {
        for (nRow = 0; nRow < 22; nRow++) {
            buildingView[nCol][nRow] = new ImageView();
            buildingView[nCol][nRow].setX(nCol * 26 + 5);
            buildingView[nCol][nRow].setY(nRow * 26 + 40);
            gameView.getChildren().add(buildingView[nCol][nRow]);
    gameView.setVisible(true);
    root.getChildren().add(gameView);
    ... same stuff to build the le_view ...
    le_View.setVisible(false);
    root.getChildren().add(le_View);
    Scene scene = new Scene(root, 800, 600, Color.CORNSILK); Now I want to introduce a status bar at the bottom of the frame, which of course has to follow the bottom of the frame, if it is resized. And of course the menu and the status bar should not grow vertically, if the height of the frame is increased.
    The implementation seems to be easy with StackPane for the frame and one BorderPane for each mode.
    For the first step I only tried implementing the game mode with only one BorderPane (just setting the menu, the gaming area and the status bar each into a HBox and setting these three HBoxes at the top, into the center and at the bottom). I also tried this via GridPane and via VBox; I always get any erroneous behaviour:
    Either the menubar is visible, but the menus do not pop up the menu items, or the anchor point of the menu and of gaming area are set 100 pixels left of the left frame border and move into the frame when the frame width is increased, or the menu is set 20 pixels below the top of the frame, or HBox with the menu grows when the frame height is increased, so that the anchor point of the gaming area moves down.
    Can you describe me a correct construction of such a frame? Thanks in advance.
    Best regards
    Gerhard

    Hello Gerhard,
    Glad the code helped, thanks for a fun layout exercise.
    For the draft code I just pulled an icon off the internet over a http connection.
    If you haven't done so already place any icons and graphics you need local to your project, so that resource lookups like:
    Image img = new Image("http://www.julepstudios.com/images/close-icon.png");become
    Image img = new Image("close-icon.png");then performance may improve.
    Another possible reason for your performance problem could be that when you use a vbox, the vbox content can overflow the area of the borderpane center and might be sitting on top of the menu pane, making you unable to click the menu (which is what happens to me when I try that with the draft program with the vbox wrapping mod, then resize the scene to make it smaller). This was a trick which caught me and the reason that I used a Group originally rather than a vbox. I found a vbox still works but you need to tweak things a bit. The trick I saw was that the order in which you add stuff to the borderpane is important. The borderpane acts like a stack where the last thing added floats over the top of everything else if you size the scene small enough. For your project you want the menu on top always, so it always needs to be the last thing added to the borderpane, but when you swap in the level pane for the game pane, then back out again, the game pane can end up on top of the menu which makes the menu seem like you can't click it (only when the scene is sized small enough). It was quite a subtle bug which took me a little while to work out what was happening. For me the solution was to add just one vbox to the center of the border, and then swap the game pane and the level editor in and out of the vbox, that way the center of the layout always stayed behind the menu bar and the status bar.
    I added some revisions to reflect the comments above and placed some comments in the code to note what was changed and why.
    public class SampleGameLayoutRevised extends Application {
      public static void main(String[] args) { Application.launch(args); }
      public void start(Stage stage) throws Exception {
        final BorderPane gameLayout = new BorderPane();
        final Group gameView = new Group();
        final MenuBar gameMenubar = new MenuBar();
        final Menu gameMenu = new Menu("Mode");
        final VBox centerView = new VBox();
        centerView.setStyle("-fx-background-color: darkgreen");  // we set a background color on the center view to check if it overwrites the game menu.
        MenuItem playGameMenu = new MenuItem("Play Game");
        MenuItem levelEditMenu = new MenuItem("Edit Levels");
        gameMenu.getItems().add(playGameMenu);
        gameMenu.getItems().add(levelEditMenu);
        gameMenubar.getMenus().add(gameMenu);
        final StackPane levelEditView = new StackPane();
        levelEditView.getChildren().add(new Text("Level Editor"));
        ImageView buildingView[][] = new ImageView[22][22];
        Image img = new Image("http://www.julepstudios.com/images/close-icon.png");  // use of http here is just for example, instead use an image resource from your project files.
        for (int nCol = 0; nCol < 22; nCol++) {
          for (int nRow = 0; nRow < 22; nRow++) {
            ImageView imgView = new ImageView(img);
            imgView.setScaleX(0.5);
            imgView.setScaleY(0.5);
            buildingView[nCol][nRow] = imgView;
            buildingView[nCol][nRow].setX(nCol * 20 + 5);
            buildingView[nCol][nRow].setY(nRow * 20 + 40);
            gameView.getChildren().add(buildingView[nCol][nRow]);
        final VBox statusBar = new VBox();
        final Text statusText = new Text("Playing Game");
        statusBar.getChildren().add(statusText);
        statusBar.setStyle("-fx-background-color: cornsilk"); // we set a background color on the status bar,
                                                              // because we can't rely on the scene background color
                                                              // because, if the scene is sized small, the status bar will start to overlay the game view
                                                              // and if we don't explicitly set the statusBar background the center view will start
                                                              // to bleed through the transparent background of the statusBar.
        gameLayout.setCenter(centerView); // we add the centerview first and we never change it, instead we put it's changeable contents in a vbox and change out the vbox content.
        gameLayout.setBottom(statusBar);
        gameLayout.setTop(gameMenubar);   // note the game layout is the last thing added to the borderpane so it will always stay on top if the border pane is resized.
        playGameMenu.setOnAction(new EventHandler<ActionEvent>() {
          public void handle(ActionEvent event) {
            centerView.getChildren().clear();  // here we perform a centerview vbox content swap.
            centerView.getChildren().add(gameView);
            statusText.setText("Playing Game");
        levelEditMenu.setOnAction(new EventHandler<ActionEvent>() {
          public void handle(ActionEvent event) {
            centerView.getChildren().clear();  // here we perform a centerview vbox content swap.
            centerView.getChildren().add(levelEditView);
            statusText.setText("Editing Level");
        playGameMenu.fire();
        Scene scene = new Scene(gameLayout, 800, 600, Color.CORNSILK);
        stage.setScene(scene);
        stage.show();
    }Other than that I am not sure of a reason for the slowdown you are seeing. In my experience JavaFX has been quick and responsive for the tasks I have been using it for. Admittedly, I just use if for a bunch of small trial projects, but I've never seen it unresponsive for a minute.

  • In Windows 8.1, the Thunderbird window keeps resizing

    I have a new Transformer T100A laptop, running Windows 8.1 Pro. I run Thunderbird in desktop mode. The height of the Thunderbird window keeps getting small, while the width remains the same. I usually have my folder mails in the top pane, and the open message in the bottom pane. When I open Thunderbird, it often, but not always, comes up with such a short window that I can't see any of the open message at all, and only a few lines of the messages in the folder. This happens often even when I haven't closed Thunderbird, but the computer has gone into battery saving mode. This is not a huge problem, but it's annoying to have to resize the window almost every time I use Thunderbird.

  • How resize pictures in table on PAGES 5.2?

    The new version 5.2 was be optmized for import image in table, but how resize these pictures in table?

    DO NOT use Pages 5.2.    Use Keynote or Numbers.  The latest versions of these apps are stable.  Pages 5.2 nothing but trouble.
    Here is what I do with my art, which must be perfect for commercial printing and other purposes.
    Export the page with your table and art out as a PDF.  Then bring the PDF into Adobe Illustator and make any changes you need to get the art looing exactly like what you want.  Save the art from AI ouit to PDF.  AI creates bullet proof PDF files.  Then drag the clean PDF back into Pages.
    One reason AI is the preferred route is that Adobe comlpliant PDF files  are the standard in the commercial printing industry.  These days, all files going to commercial printers must be in clean PDF format.  As you would expect, there are some excellent apps for pre-flighint PDF files.
    The final reason for using PDF for art is that your illustrations will move cleanly into iBook Author for iBooks and apps for creating international standard ePubs and Amazon MOBI files.

  • Prob in decode function

    hi iam having prob with the following decode function
    declare
    c varchar2(20);
    begin
    select decode(deptno,
         10, 'accounting',
         20,'Research',
         30 ,'sales',
         40,'operations','UNKNOWN') into c from dept where loc='DALLAS';
    dbms_output.put_line('DEPARTMENT in DALLAS'||c);
    select decode(deptno,
         10, 'accounting',
         20,'Research',
         30 ,'sales',
         40,'operations','UNKNOWN') into c from dept where loc='INDIA';
    dbms_output.put_line('DEPARTMENT IN INDIA'||c);
    end;
    iam getting no_data_found exception which is reasonable..but what happened to 'unknown' clause in decode function.
    thank u
    rajiv

    DECODE only works on rows returned from the database. If there are no rows, DECODE has nothing to work on.
    Consider:
    SQL> SELECT DECODE(dummy, 'X', 'Found a row', 'No row')
      2  FROM dual;
    DECODE(DUMM
    Found a row
    SQL> SELECT DECODE(dummy, 'X', 'Found a row', 'No row')
      2  FROM dual
      3  WHERE 1=2;
    no rows selectedIf you want to have c contain UNKNOWN when there are no rows returned, you need to do something more like:
    DECLARE
    c VARCHAR2(20);
    BEGIN
       BEGIN
          SELECT DECODE(deptno, 10, 'accounting',
                                20,'Research',
                                30 ,'sales',
                                40,'operations','UNKNOWN')
          INTO c
          FROM dept
          WHERE loc='DALLAS';
       EXCEPTION
          c := 'UNKNOWN';
       END;
       DBMS_OUTPUT.Put_Line('DEPARTMENT in DALLAS'||c);
       BEGIN
          SELECT DECODE(deptno, 10, 'accounting',
                                20,'Research',
                                30 ,'sales',
                                40,'operations','UNKNOWN')
          INTO c
          FROM dept
          WHERE loc='INDIA';
       EXCEPTION
          c := 'UNKNOWN';
       END;
       DBMS_OUTPUT.Put_Line('DEPARTMENT IN INDIA'||c);
    END;HTH

  • ISE 1.2 - Multiple NICs/Load Balancing for DHCP Probe

    Hello guys
    Just prepping an ISE 1.2 patch 8 setup in our organization. I am going for the virtual appliances with multiple NICs. It will be a distributed deployment with 4 x PSNs behind a load balancer and there is no requirement for wireless or guest user at the moment. I've got 2 points I will like to get some guidance on:
    Our DC has a dedicated mgmt network and I plan to IP the gig0 interface of the PANs, MNTs and PSNs from this subnet. All device admin, clustering, config replication, etc will be over this interface. However, RADIUS/probe/other user traffic to the ISE PSNs will be over the gig1 interface which will be addressed from another L3 network. Is this a supported configuration in ISE?
    I intend to use the DHCP probe as part of device profiling and will ideally like to have just an additional ip helper to add to our switch SVI config. Also, it will appear that WLCs can only be configured for 2 DHCP servers for a given network so another consideration for when we bringing our WLAN in scope. We however use ACE load balancers within our DC and from what I have read, they do not support DHCP load balancing. Are there any workarounds to using the DHCP probe with multiple PSNs without having to add each node as an ip helper/DHCP server on the NADs?
    Thanks in advance
    Sayre

    Hello Sayre-
    For Question #1:
    Management is restricted to GigabitEthernet 0 and that cannot be changed so you should be good there
    You can configure Radius and Profiling to be enabled on other interfaces
    Even though you are not using guest services yet, you can dedicate an interface just for that. As a result, you can separate guest traffic completely from your production network
    Take a look at this link for more info:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/1-2/installation_guide/ise_ig/ise_app_c-ports.html
    For Question #2
    If you are using a Cisco WLC and running code 7.4 and newer you don't need to mess with the IP helper configurations.
    The controller can be configured to act as a collector for client profiling and interact with the DHCP thread along with the RADIUS accounting task that is running on the controller. The controller receives a copy of the DHCP request packet sent from the DHCP thread and parses the DHCP packet for two options:
    –Option 12—HostName of the client
    –Option 60—The Vendor Class Identifier
    After this information is gathered from the DHCP_REQUEST packet, a message is formed by the controller with these option fields and is sent to the RADIUS accounting thread, which is in turn transmitted to the ISE in the form of an interim accounting message.
    Both DHCP and HTTP profiling settings are located under the "Advanced" configuration tab in the WLC
    On the other hand, you can also use Anycast for profiling. You can check out some of Cisco Live's sessions for more info on that. Here is one that is from a couple of years (There are more recent ones that are available as well):

    I hope this helps!
