Resizing the flash application dynamically...
Is it possible to change the size of the flash application so
it takes up more or less space? Mainly in the realm of making it
taller vs. shorter vertically, and thus the size of the webpage
that holds that flash application will also change. Generally, the
page that contains it will be of less size than the app itself and
thus the size of the page will depend on the app. Can one resize an
app and how so?
My research on the web leads me to believe it's not possible
to resize the flash application once it's loaded on the user's
browser. I found one page with a cheat that requires a ton of code
and counts as a kludge. There must be some other way though.

Is the DA view in the console application dynamically updated?
Hi
Is the DiagramView on Distributed Applications in the console application, updated automatically if a new event occur, or does it just show the-point-in-time status when we right-clicked a system from the DA list and chose DiagramView?
If its not auto-refreshed, is there another option, besides the WebConsole, to achive this?
Env.: OpsManager 2012R2
Thanks.
/PeterHi
Fixed it myself by creating a vbs-script that refreshes the console view every N milliseconds.
A created a scheduled task that start the script when the server is started
This way, I don't have to run the Web Console to achieve this functionality.
set shell = wscript.CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
While 1 = 1
Window = "The heading of your view"
shell.appActivate(Window)
wscript.sleep(30000)
shell.SendKeys "{F5}"

The Signals can be variables such as "1/2/3/4" . The signals

I'm looking for a little help with a dynamic Flash
application I am building with ColdFusion integrated. I need the
Flash to load and interact with a SQL Server database as quickly as
possible as the user interacts with the Flash application. I have
done research and thought that Flash Remoting was the way to go
especially when using ColdFusion with Flash, but I am experiencing
a lot of lag time when a user tries to load more data.
So I'm looking for some advice on what is the fastest/best
way to pass data back and forth between Flash and ColdFusion.
Currently I am using Flash Remoting via ColdFusion web services
(first time using this), but again with the lag time I am receiving
I am thinking maybe my old way of using LoadVars would be faster? I
am also open to any other means to pass data from ColdFusion/SQL
database to Flash that exist. I am just looking for the quickest
way for my customers to interact with the Flash piece.
Thanks for all your help!Also would like to note that internet explorer does not have this problem, I would prefer to figure out why this is happening and resolve it as I hate IE.

Link to Flash application from PDF not working on a Mac
I'm creating a PDF using Acrobat. I have 2 links that should open up a separate Flash application. When I try clicking on them in Adobe Reader on a Mac, I get an error message saying "could not find an application to open the file 'xxxxx'. I can navigate to the file directly in a finder window, and the Flash application opens up just fine. I also created a PC version of this same PDF that points to Flash executables, and those links work fine as well. Any ideas any one? Thanks in advance!

Can Apple fix to quicly ?
I believe I'm not the only one concern by this big issue; Flash platform is widely used over the world thus I want to believe that Apple is taking into account that big issue and will sort that out very quickly !
Thank you
CheersHi,
I have the same issue, but only with Flash Player debug version (version 14.0.0.145 and also 15.0.0.152).
When installing the non-debug player, I am able to input text into textfields.
I also hope this will be fixed soon. -
Flash application missing from CS3 Design Premium disk,OSX?
Does anyone know if the Flash application is missing from the CS3 Design Premium disk,OSX? I installed all the programs a while ago and never opened the Flash program. Now, when I do, I can't open the application. There are other folders for Flash, but no application. It seems that it is missing. I tried to reinstall it from the original disk, but the installation is interrupted by a message that asks that the Fireworks CS4 disk be inserted. I had downloaded a trial Fireworks CS4, but do not have a disk. I uninstalled Fireworks ( according to adobe's instructions) and tried to install Flash again, but keep getting the same 'Fireworks CS4 disk be inserted' message. Does anyone know anything about this? Any help would be appreciated!
Yes, you unisntall the whole suite. It only uninstalls the programs, any user data and configuration is unaffected. If you wanan back it up, regardless, check your Users:You:Preferences:Adobe and Users:You:Documents folders and copy the stuff there toi a safe location.

Problems playing video within flash application on windows 7
Hello, I am trying to debug a problem with a stand-alone flash player application. I have been given some educational content that has been packaged as an adobe flash player application for windows.
This program has embedded mp4 files. I can see the files on disk also and I can play them fine with every video player on my PC.
However when I play the videos inside the flash application they video sticks, replaying the first frame over and over (the audio continues fine). I don't think this is a problem with the adobe application because it works fine on several other machines.
This seems to be an issue with one specific machine (windows 7) and how it interacts with this application.
The properties tab on the abobe player exe shows a version of 11.4 r402.
I have tried to research this online and also on these forums but all advice seems targeted at the players for browsers, and this is something different. I am not sure how it is produced, I think perhaps by some adobe packaging product the provider is using.
I also realize this may be the wrong forum but it was the best match I could find.
Any tips and pointers greatly appreciated!
thanks
JamesAny ideas here? Even a suggestion for a better forum would be great.
I am really confused that the videos play fine with media players I have but not within the adobe player app.
Any suggestions? -
How can I load flash ads dynamically? ASP, but probably the same in PHP
I have a flash advert that will run on a website for one month. At the end of the month the advert will change to another flash advert. I am trying to achieve this by way of entering the name of the flash file into a database so my client doesn't have to hand code the change, but I am struggling to get the way I thought would work to actually work and would like some advice on how to do it.
The way I am doing it is to take the code created by DW's insert flash action, and I am then changing the path (in all four instances) from:
_dataimages/_rightbanner/test2/Untitled1.swf
to have it served dynamically like this:
_dataimages/_rightbanner/<%=(rs_bannerright.Fields.Item("fld_image") .Value)%>.swf
This isn't working though!
Are there any other ways I can achieve this? Is there any tutorials out there I can learn from?
I have tried server side includes too, but still no joy.
Any advice on what is going wrong for me, or any suggestions or examples on how to dynamically change from one flash file to totally different one would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Mat
[Moved to Dreamweaver Application Development forum by moderator]How can I create multiple versions of a video within the same project?
You can't. You make separate projects using the same or different clips, segments, transitions, titles, etc. You can even duplicate the first project and then modify/make the desired changes in the duplicated project. Each project can then be burned as a different DVD or as different titles on the same DVD if there is enough room. -
AIR Intrinsic Classes-Tried and Proven Approach to building AIR applications in the Flash CS3 IDE
Hi everyone,
For all of you out there who would like to develop AIR
applications
from the Flash CS3 IDE but aren't sure how to get those pesky
intrinsic
classes working, I have a technique that you can work with to
create
your classes and make fully functional AIR applications.
First of all, those solutions out there that list
"intrinsic" functions
in their class definitions won't work. That keyword has been
taken out
and simply won't work. The "native" keyword also doesn't work
because
Flash will reject it. The solution is to do dynamic name
resolution at
runtime to get all the classes you need.
Here's a sample class that returns references to the "File",
"FileStream", and "FileMode" classes:
package com.adobe{
import flash.utils.*;
import flash.display.*;
public class AIR extends MovieClip {
public static function get File():Class {
try {
var classRef:*=getDefinitionByName('flash.filesystem.File');
} catch (err:ReferenceError) {
return (null);
}//catch
return (classRef);
}//get File
public static function get FileMode():Class {
try {
var
classRef:*=getDefinitionByName('flash.filesystem.FileMode');
} catch (err:ReferenceError) {
return (null);
}//catch
return (classRef);
}//get FileMode
public static function get FileStream():Class {
try {
var
classRef:*=getDefinitionByName('flash.filesystem.FileStream');
} catch (err:ReferenceError) {
return (null);
}//catch
return (classRef);
}//get FileStream
}//AIR class
}//com.adobe package
I've defined the package as com.adobe but you can call it
whatever you
like. You do, however, need to import "flash.utils.*" because
this
package contains the "getDefinitionByName" method. Here I'm
also
extending the MovieClip class so that I can use the extending
class
(shown next) as the main Document class in the Flash IDE.
Again, this is
entirely up to you. If you have another type of class that
will extend
this one, you can have this one extend Sprite, Math, or
whatever else
you need (or nothing if it's all the same to you).
Now, in the extending class, the Document class of the FLA,
here's the
class that extends and uses it:
package {
import com.adobe.AIR;
public class airtest extends AIR{
public function airtest() {
var field:TextField=new TextField();
field.autoSize='left';
this.addChild(field);
field.text="Fileobject="+File;
}//constructor
}//airtest class
}//package
Here I'm just showing that the class actually exists but not
doing much
with it.
If you run this in the Flash IDE, the text field will show
"File
object=null". This is because in the IDE, there really is no
File
object, it only exists when the SWF is running within the
Integrated
Runtime. However, when you run the SWF as an AIR application
(using the
adl.exe utility that comes with the SDK, for example), the
text field
will now show: "File object=[object File]". Using this
reference, you
can use all of the File methods directly (have a look here
for all of
them:
http://livedocs.adobe.com/labs/flex/3/langref/flash/filesystem/File.html).
For example, you can call:
var appResource:File=File.applicationResourceDirectory;
This particular method is static so you don't need an
instance. If you
do (such as when Flash tells you the property isn't static),
simply
create an instance like this:
var fileInstace:File=new File();
fileInstance.someMethod('abc'); //just an example...read the
reference
for actual function calls
Because the getter function in the AIR class returns a Class
reference,
it allows you to perform all of these actions directly as
though the
File class is part of the built in class structure (which in
the
runtime, it is!).
Using this technique, you can create references to literally
*ALL* of
the AIR classes and use them to build your AIR application.
The beauty
of this technique is its brevity. When you define the class
reference,
all of the methods and properties are automatically
associated with it
so you don't need reams of code to define each and every
item.
There's a bit more that can be done with this AIR class to
make it
friendlier and I'll be extending mine until all the AIR
classes are
available. If anyone's interested, feel free to drop me a
line or drop
by my site at
http://www.baynewmedia.com
where I'll be posting the
completed class. I may also make it into a component if
there's enough
interest. To all of you who knew all this already, I hope I
didn't waste
your time.
Happy coding,
PatrickWow, you're right. The content simply doesn't show up at all.
No
JavaScript or HTML parsing errors, apparently. But no IE7
content.
I'll definitely have to look into that. In the meantime, try
FireFox :)
I'm trying to develop a panel to output AIR applications from
within the
Flash IDE. GSkinner has one but I haven't been able to get it
to work
successfully. Mine has exported an AIR app already so that's
a step in
the right direction but JSFL is a tricky beast, especially
when trying
to integrate it using MMExecute strings.
But, if you can, create AIR applications by hand. I haven't
yet seen an
application that allows you to change every single option
like you can
when you update the application.xml file yourself. Also, it's
a great
fallback skill to have.
Let me know if you need some assistance with AIR exports.
Once you've
done it a couple of times, it becomes pretty straightforward.

Changing the custom XML for a flash chart dynamically
Hello
I am wondering if anyone has found a way to change the custom XML
for a flash chart dynamically.
For instance.
On the www.anychart.com website their is a gallery with charts.
I have studied one called "2Dlinetimechart. It has hours on the X-axis.
When I view the XML for this chart.
I found this enrty
- <block color="0x0080C0" border_color="0x0080C0" name="Sales dept.">
<set value="0" argument="0" name="00:00" />
<set value="1" argument="0" name="01:00" />
It uses the tag value to set the position on the X-axis. But the tag name to set the labels on the X-axis.
I have not found a way to do this in application express 3.0.
Therefore I wonder if I can change to XML dynamically, and build my own block based on the input I have.
Or even build a chart, based on a xml that I create first then sends to the object that renders the chart.
Hope this makes sence ?
Ulf
PS this is related to my question about
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1887210?
using dates on the x-axis.
But would by nice to know a general method to rebuild the xml-file dynamically so I can change the chart within the limits of the xml-definition.String value = ResultSet.getObject("myfield").toString();
String opvalue = "15";
<OPTION Value=15 <%=((opvalue.equals(value))?"selected":"")%>> -
Can I embed the Flash Document preview on my Flex Application
Hi I am creating a Flex application utilizing acrobat document sharing, and I was wondering if I could have it display a preview of my documents very similar to http://share.acrobat.com/adc/.
I notice that you can embed flash on webpage by the use of this viewer https://share.acrobat.com/adc/flex/mpt.swf, and I tried loading it and appending necessary variables to it, it works but I cannot resize the viewer. I'm not sure if Im doing it wrong or its just the viewer not compatible at all.
Thanks, I really appreciate if anyone could point me on the right direction.I'm sorry, but at present this isn't something that we support. We didn't build the viewer with the intent of allowing others to use it in flex.

How do I stop iPhone Safari from dynamically resizing the visual viewport?
Sorry I post this here, but I couldn't access the developer forums (no error given, it just keeps returning me to this page https://developer.apple.com/devforums/) I'm not even sure wether that's been moved here and it's just the redirection non working.
I need to Stop iPhone Safari from dynamically resizing the visual viewport, or in other words, to stop it from trying to "fit" the layout into the viewport.
Why?
Because any recalculation javascript does on absolutely positioned elements makes the whole site super IRRESPONSIVE.
I don't know wether the issue is the element going out the already-set layout viewport (which triggers the page resizing to fit the visual viewport) or just the calculations being made constantly, but I can stop the calculations from happening when not "touching" the screen, but I need a way to stop the page resizing.
I tried setting the viewport width to 1040px, as my layout width, and it fixed the header's width being narrower than the body (or shifted left?), but the whole page is still resized with every motion-frame (one every 3 seconds, due to overloading the redrawing engine)
Is there a way to prevent that?No, that link doesn't solve it. It just says the same is found everywhere online.
There's probably no way to do it, as per their way they "accidentally" omitted the oposite case: the page being wider than 980. They only mention what to do if the site is narrower. Something I learned is big companies (with reputation management) could let you run in circles for years no answer rather than telling you something is not possible.
I'm the developer (can't access the dev forums, don't know why) and I DID setup the viewport, scale and other properties but none of them stopped from re-fitting the new re-sized layout in the viewport. They just ensure the "initial" view.
I think the feature I'm looking for must be achieved with some JavaScript function targeting Safari-proprietary variable/property… if even possible.
I just had to make things never reaching the edge until somebody contributes something useful -
