REST API Url Query

This is a hypothetical situation to illustrate the problem. I realize that this could likely be solved another way.
There are 3 SharePoint Lists:
PersonList -
--Name
-- AddressLookupColumn
AddressList-
-- Address
-- AddressTypeLookupColumn
AddressTypeList-
-- AddressTypeName
Using the OData spec I can do something like:
http://mysite/_api/web/getByTitle('PersonList')/items?$select=Name,AddressLookupColumn/Address&$expand=AddressLookupColumn
That will give me Name and Address. What I need is the Name, Address, and Address Type.
I think should be able to do:
http://mysite/_api/web/getByTitle('PersonList')/items?$select=Name,AddressLookupColumn/Address,AddressLookupColumn/AddressTypeLookupColumn/AddressTypeName&$expand=AddressLookupColumn,AddressLookupColumn/AddressTypeLookupColumn
.. in order to get Name, Address, and AddressTypeName
Does SharePoint support that? If so, what am I doing wrong in my query?

Bulk expansion and selection of related items is not supported.

  • Use REST API to query contacts with a field updated since certain time?

    Hello,
    Using the REST API and trying to figure out how I can query for contacts that have had a field updated since a specified time. I've tried using the "lastUpdatedAt" arg, but to me it seems like I'm getting back contacts that maybe haven't had any data change, but were probably sent an email or something of that sort (so the updated at value was changed)
    Is there a way to query for contacts that have had fields change (Like subscriptions, address, title, etc) but exclude those contacts that only have their updated values changes because they were sent an email?
    Thanks!

    Hi Chris,
    lastUpdatedAt or "Date Modified" fields don't change when the contact is sent an email, but rather, when ANY field is modified on the contact record. You can certainly query for and export contacts that had their data touched in some way since a specified time, but it won't be on a per-field basis. There is effectively no field level change history or tracking. You can work around this with extra logic. First, you can get a snapshot of what the values were in the specific fields you want to track across your entire database.
    The next time you run an export using Date Modified, it will contain more records than you might care about, but you can filter offline for the ones you do care about by comparing their before and after values for the specific 'tracked' fields.

  • FILES REST API url to list specific folder content

    I need to retrieve the items/documents in a specific folder of our Office 365 hosted SharePoint site, but I always get an resource error. I'm trying to use the FILE REST API for this, documented here:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/office/office365/APi/files-rest-operations
    The url to the SharePoint site with the files is
    https://informationresourcemanager.sharepoint.com/irm/fido/1074/Forms/AllItems.aspx
    and according to the MSDN documents the call should be
    GET {base-url}/Files/{folder-id}/children
    and "base-url" should in the case of SharePoint be
    https://{tenant}.sharepoint.com/{site-path}/_api/v1.0
    Now, I've tried 10 different combinations without getting any good results, so I guess I'm doing something wrong with the base-url or the site-path. Is the correct base-url this for my site
    https://informationresourcemanager.sharepoint.com/irm/fido/_api/v1.0/
    or just
    https://informationresourcemanager.sharepoint.com/irm/_api/v1.0/
    /Johan

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to get all the content in a specific folder using Office 365 rest api.
    For the base url, it needs to specify the site collection name in the url. In my environment, I have a site collection called "ZhengyuGuo", so we can get all the file in such site collection like below firstly:
    https://xxx.sharepoint.com/sites/zhengyuGuo/_api/v1.0/files/
    Then you can get the content in a specific folder using the "getByPath" method like below, in my environment, I will get the all file contents in document library folder.
    https://xxx.sharepoint.com/sites/zhengyuGuo/_api/v1.0/files/getByPath('/')/children
    The json data return like the capture below:
    Thanks

  • REST API and best bets / query rules

    Is there a bug in this?  I can not get best bet results regardless of the query string.  For example, the following (according to MSDN documentation) should process the query rules and return a best bet.  But it doesnt.  Am I doing something
    wrong in the query?  It only seems to return ordinary results.  Performing the same search via Sharepoint's UI returns the best bet at the top.
    $.ajax({
    url: "http://myserver/sites/mysite/_api/search/query/?processbestbets=true&enablequeryrules=true&querytext='" + searchText + "'",
    type: 'GET',
    headers: {
    "accept": "application/json; odata=verbose"
    success: myCallback,
    error: function(data) {
    alert(data.responseXML.text);

    Hi Scott,
    With EnableQueryRules and ProcessBestBets set to true in the search rest api, we can get the promoted results(best bets) in SharePoint 2013.
    I recommend to type the search rest api URL in the browser directly and then check if the best bets are displayed at the top of the search results.
    It will not displayed inside the table for normal results.
    Please also make sure that the query text matches the query rule condition.

  • Visual Studio Integrate REST Api - WIQL request returns status 400 (Bad Request)

    Hi,
    I'm attempting to submit a WIQL (Work Item Query Language) request to the Visual Studio Online REST api but receiving a status code 400 (Bad Request).
    I'm using the sample request of the first example "Run a query" of the reference documentation listed here: http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/integrate/reference/reference-vso-work-item-wiql-vsi
    I've taken the sample request: https://fabrikam.visualstudio.com/DefaultCollection/Fabrikam-Fiber-Git/_apis/wit/wiql?api-version=1.0-preview.2 and substituted "fabrikam" with our account and "Fabrikam-Fiber-Git" with our team project
    name.
    I've used the exact same query listed for the sample request:
      "query": "Select [System.WorkItemType],[System.Title],[System.State],[Microsoft.VSTS.Scheduling.Effort],[System.IterationPath] FROM WorkItemLinks WHERE Source.[System.WorkItemType] IN GROUP 'Microsoft.RequirementCategory' AND Target.[System.WorkItemType]
    IN GROUP 'Microsoft.RequirementCategory' AND Target.[System.State] IN ('New','Approved','Committed') AND [System.Links.LinkType] = 'System.LinkTypes.Hierarchy-Forward' ORDER BY [Microsoft.VSTS.Common.BacklogPriority] ASC,[System.Id] ASC MODE (Recursive, ReturnMatchingChildren)"
    Couple of things that I've tried:
    1. I've tried both "api-version=1.0-preview.2" and "api-version=1.0-preview.1"
    2. I've left out the project name from the request url: Based on the query format listed in the example "https://{account}.visualstudio.com/defaultcollection/[{project}/]_apis/wit/wiql?api-version={version}" I'm assuming that the wrapping of the
    project section in the url in square brackets ([{project}/]) indicates that this section is optional.
    3. I've tried a simpler query:
     "query": "Select [System.WorkItemType],[System.Title],[System.State],[Microsoft.VSTS.Scheduling.Effort],[System.IterationPath], [Microsoft.VSTS.Common.BacklogPriority] From WorkItems"
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Morné

  • How to use search REST api to get custom managed property data for anonymous user?

    I am trying build a public portal with anonymous access and i am trying to read some
    content from custom managed property using search REST api in sharepoint 2013. I have tried to enable all possible attributes of the managed prop. Like searchable,queryable,safe etc. also i am including queryparametertemplate in my REST api search query. But
    still i am not able to retrieve the managed prop. For an anonymous user. The same query returns the value if i am logged in.
    Any Help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh
    Thanks, Rakesh

    Hi Rakesh,
    To enable anonymous Search REST queries, we need to create queryparametertemplate.xml and upload it to the correct library in SharePoint.
    From your description I can know that you have created the file, then I recommend to check the things below:
    Please use “QueryTemplatePropertiesUrl” instead of “queryparametertemplate” in the Search REST API query as following: &QueryTemplatePropertiesUrl='spfile://webroot/queryparametertemplate.xml'.
    Make sure that the Query Properties you need have been added to the QueryProperties element in the queryparametertemplate.xml file.
    Make sure that the query parameters you need have been added to the WhiteList element in the
    queryparametertemplate.xml file. For example, if you want to use Refiners in the REST API, then the Refiners should be added to the
    WhiteList element in the queryparametertemplate.xml file as following:
    <a:string>Refiners</a:string>.
    You can also debug setting properties in anonymous Search Rest queries following the link below:

  • Im using CloverETL to connec to SharePoint using REST API.

    my team is trying to get the List items in SharePoint using REST api. we are using the CloverETL tool using the REST api URL of the list and the credentials in SharePoint which has full control. Below is the rest command that we used.
    /_api/web/lists/getbytitle('title of list')/items
    when viewing this URL on the same Internet explorer with a user log on to sharepoint the XML of the list is successfully showing. but when we try to load it on the CloverETL tool using the same SharePoint credentials it says access is denied. Also when viewing
    the URL to a browser with no other SharePoint sites open it also says access is denied.

    how is the webapp configured, as far as authentication?

    Hi All,
    I am getting authentication error while consuming the Webcenter REST API url http://webcenter.us.oracle.com/rest/api/resourceIndex.In Jdeveloper (URL Datacontrol)
    So please help me where to Provide the authentication details.
    Thanks.

    Hi.
    You need to add Authentication to your REST requests. Using Oracle WebCenter Portal REST APIs - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.6.3)
    From my experience, I always used REST API from a REST Java Wrapper done by a mate: Oracle Webcenter Portal &amp;amp; Content Tips: Using WebCenter REST API from Java
    - Samples snippet of authentication:
    When executing code inside of the domain use OIT:
    b64EncodedToken = WCSecurityUtility.issueTrustServiceSecurityToken();
    String auth = "OIT " + b64EncodedToken;
    connection.setRequestProperty(AUTH_PROPERTY, auth);
    When executing code for testing in your JUnit or outside, use directly BASIC authentication:
    String userpass = "weblogic:weblogic1";
    BASE64Encoder encoder = new BASE64Encoder();
    b64EncodedToken = encoder.encode(userpass.getBytes());
    String auth = "Basic " + b64EncodedToken;
    Create a DataControl manually create an instance of the connection depending of the environment.
    Take a look in the official documentation and in the blog entry links.

    Is there any REST API from yammer which enables us to delete Yammer groups. We would just have to pass groupid(s) to the rest api url and my yammer groups should get deleted.
    I tried googling but could not find any. except these: https://www.yammer.com/api/v1/group_memberships.json?group_id=:4309911 which just deletes user from a group. Is there any rest api to delete the group itself ?

  • Query a document library using Search Rest API

    How can we search for a specific document library using SharePoint Search through Rest API? We have a couple of document libraries which have thousands of documents with its relevant metadata information stored. We need to create an app to search through
    these document libraries and display the document and its metadata. Can someone point me in the right direction?
    V

    Taking what Shakir said you would substitute queryText with a managed property query (KQL) to query against metadata from the Document library. So if your document library has a Owner column then you would either create or use an existing managed property
    defined in the Search Schema. So your query may look like this:
    https://<site URL>/_api/search/query?querytext='(owner:smith)+AND+(path:<library url>)'

  • Mapping and querying Custom Objects for a Contact with REST Api

    Hello All,
    We are hoping to get some details on managing DataCard set through REST APIs. Our implementation goal is to create Contacts and add Custom object for each Contact, or to be precise, add a DataCard Set for each Contact.
    At the moment, to associate a DataCard Set (or Custom Object) to an existing contact, we are supplying following custom object fields during creation of Custom Object:
    new CustomObjectField
                                                                    name = "MappedEntityType",
                                                                    dataType = Enum.GetName(typeof(DataType), DataType.numeric),
                                                                    type = "CustomObjectField",
                                                                    defaultValue = "0"
                                                             new CustomObjectField
                                                                    name = "MappedEntityID",
                                                                    dataType = Enum.GetName(typeof(DataType), DataType.numeric),
                                                                    type = "CustomObjectField",
                                                                    defaultValue = "<ContactId>"
    Is this the correct approach? This is Based on the information provided here: http://topliners.eloqua.com/community/code_it/blog/2012/05/31/eloqua-api-how-to-mapping-a-data-card-to-an-entity.
    Would the REST API allow us to query the CustomObjects using the MappedEntityId value for later updates? If so, any pointers on how we approach that?
    Thanks in ad.

    Either the MappedEntityID field is not available or I do it wrong, Eloqua is ignoring the field and does not map the custom record with the unique Contact ID

  • Can't do a query with REST api

    Hi
    Having discovered that using the standard SOAP API is like poking yourself in the eye with a sharp stick, I'm trying to use the REST API. Initially, I've been trying to exercise it via the POSTMAN extension on Chrome. But I'm having no joy.
    I can use the ID call to get the URLs, so I know my authentication is OK. But all other calls just give me:
    403 XSRF Protection Failure
    An example of a call I am trying is:
    https://secure.eloqua.com/API/REST/1.0/data/contacts?search=[email protected]&count=1
    I can't find any reference anywhere to this 403 error.
    Help!
    Thanks
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
    It sounds like you're client (web browser) might have stored credentials for Eloqua, most likely in the cookie collection. If you try clearing your cookies and run the API request again with basic authentication, it should work.
    Hope this helps and please let us know if you need more information.
    Thanks,
    Fred

  • Data Centers URL through Rest API

    Hi All,
    Below is the set of question:
    Is hitting the API https://login.eloqua.com/id is the only way to get the endpoint specific to User?
    Does the endpoint remains same every time or it changes?
    Suppose I have purchased the license. The license is valid for 10 user. Do the endpoints will differ for the 10 users?
    Awaiting your response.
    Thanks in advance.
