Restart looses all CFM pages

I'm at a losss here. We upgraded from 6.1 to 7.02 via the
download install and applying CD key (Window 2003 SP2). Everytime
we upgrade part one goes ok and then we musty run the Administrator
program, if it does complete (50%) of time nad we get to the end of
migration, then CFM pages will work until we need to make a change
and restart the service, once that happens all CFM pages fail to
load (page not found) and we get NULL 500 on the Administrator
page. The only way to recover is a uninstall and reinstall. We've
even taken to rebooting a couple times, still once we make a change
(a legit change as it runs fine in our test server) and restart the
service, it's pooched. I'm pretty sure even if we reboot the server
we'll loose it. I tried applying hotfix one and hotfix two for
7.02, they broke everything right off the bat, so we've given up on
those.
Not even a restart of the App service can bring back the CFM
pages, there is something horribly wrong in there when a reboot
kills your CFM pages and no errors that I know whjere to look to
see why it is happening.

Do you know what's causing this?
(I'll be installing a full version of MX 7 this afternoon if
nothing works, probably have to completely uninstall CFMX 6.1 first
and do a registry clean to be sure)

But if iit won't stay open, then it's quitting unexpectedly which is the same as a crash.
There has to be a reason for that which a crash report should reveal.

Can't open any cfm pages

I installed a trial version of ColdFusion MX , to work
through some tutorials from a book on E-learning.
It installed OK. But I now want to access the Index page in
order to add a New Data Source, and it won't open! It says it
doesn't recognise the file extension (cfm). My computer is saying
that all cfm pages are "Homesite+" files. (I had Homesite before,
but uninstalled it).
Is there any way out of this? It would be a shame not to be
able to try out the product.

No, I'm afraid that doesn't work. If I try and go through the
Start-Programs menu, I just get a blank page. If I type the address
in the browser, I get an error (page not available). I can see all
the files on my hard drive, and i can open any other file type
(html, css) through the browser, but not the cfm files. If I look
in the root folder, I can see all the files listed, but my system
won't open any of them. I saw an earlier posting that said I needed
to change configuration mappings in IIS for coldfusion files (check
'Check file exists' box) but that made no difference. I'm stumped.
I'm using Windows XP Pro with IIS(5.1) if that's any
help.

And it is only a problem if you want a blank first screen. Personally, it would drive me nuts always having to swipe over one page to get to my apps - the only time I unlock my iPhone is to use it or run an app, so no, I have no need nor desire to have a first screen with no icons at all.
But, if they'd put it in as an option so people like yourself can also have what they want, that's fine too So send them your feedback (they actually do listen - iOS 5 includes a number of things people have been asking for on these forums, like being able to delete individual entries from the call history, inproved alerts/notifications, being able to opt out of all the location based data they collect,...).

How to make a variable global to use in all of my cfm page?

I have a problem with the variables.
i need to use a variable " loginrecord" in all of my cfm pages, its created in my login.cfm and the value of this needed in other page and maybe i need to change it .
in ASP simply we can use SESSION to make a variable global , is there any way in coldfusion ?
also in ASP we have a command SESSION.SESSIONID , so return the unique number from browser and we can se it as a security check for each one of people login to our site and each one is seperate random and unique number , is there any similar in coldfusion ?

the reason at the moment i stock with this command is i need to have login information available in all the pages to check the security. the good point i had in ASP is SESSION.SESSIONID , it make a unique number base on browser and i can check it if user loged in or no , or if loged in is the same user or other user . i couldnt find same command in coldfusion , and now i use <cflogin> but if i can find the way to have a browser session it help me in other part of my program.
i start coldfusion new ( near a month ) i have some book and Lynda DVDs, also online sources , and in this priod i re developed one of my program from ASP to coldfusion and its work. i am happy of this and help me to develop better and faster . in compare the coldfusion developed one realy is 40% original development in size and 50% faster . i have good background of ASP in last 8 years include MCSD and developed many program for a small and big companies. but i wanna to continue with coldfusion because i found it more helpfull than ASP specialy in FLASH development .

Problems indexing .cfm page

I have a page at www.salleboise.com/contact.cfm that I am
trying to index on
a internal search program. The program won't read that
particular file, but
will index other .cfm files just fine. I don't see anything
that would
prevent the file from being read, but what I'm being told by
the support for
the search software is that this particular page is only
responding to IE
requests, not generic requests.

I use a program called Zoom to create a internal search of my
site.
Zoom has its own index tool, and will index most of my .cfm
pages, but won't
do the one in question because (based on what their support
says) it only
reponds to IE or FF browser, not a generic GET command.
Hopefully that makes more sense??

.cfm pages won't display on CF10 on Windows server 2008

I have a new VPS setup that has CF10 running on a Windows 2008 box. My site is setup in IIS and I can navigate to any root folder in browser. That's because the root folder(s) recognizes index.cfm as a default page. However, any time I click a link or manually enter a URL string that contains ".cfm" (even on index.cfm pages that display without the actual full path written out) it throws a 404 error. Has anyone else run into this? I know the site is running correctly because like I said, if you enter the following URL: http://www.kyndoutdoors.com/ it will display correctly. However, if you enter http://www.kyndoutdoors.com/index.cfm it will error. HELP!

The wildcard handler handles urls without filenames (http://www.kyndoutdoors.com/), and that appears to be working. However, the specific IIS handler mappings for "*.cfm" does not appear to be. You might try using the ColdFusion Web Server Configuration Tool (WSConfig) to remove the IIS connectors (then restart IIS), and then re-add the connectors.
Another thought: were your IIS sites added to IIS after ColdFusion was installed and configured for IIS? If so, the connectors appear to not be propogating forward for new sites. I've seen this behavior before with ColdFusion 9 and IIS 7.5, but CF10 seems to handle this better. Again, removing and re-adding the connectors seems to resolve these situations for me.
EDIT:
Hmmm. 404 errror actually makes me think this may be a file permissions issue. What account is the ColdFusion service running as? Make sure that account has permissions to the folder containing your website(s).

You can a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
From here you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Abort a failed process inside a .cfm page

I have been bothered by this for a while.
I have a cfm page that is doing a process of extracting data
and ftp to locationA. I have this running for about two years. Then
there came the need to do the same process and ftp to locationB. I
did not want to repeat the process, so I added ftp locationB at the
end of the program, to use the same data file
The process runs well all the time when I only had
LocationA. The problem is locationB ftp server sometimes would
close and not to let me connect. this would stall the whole process
(I gues it was a rollback feature in cold fusion?), including the
steps of ftp to locationA, even though locationA's connection was
fine and open.
Is there a way in Cold fusion pages to abandon a step that
fails? In this case, I can put the code to ftp locationB in a
template. If this template fail, go on to the the next line in the
main page and not to quit the whole thing? I have seen this in
other programming languages which have the "abort" function.

All I care is that the program does not stop because of the
ftp error. I don't need the detail error message. Once I took out
the lines in the example, it worked fine.

I need help. For the second time in three months every single .cfm page has a malicous cross-site script appended to the orginal code. It looks something like this:

This problem is necessarily caused by modification of the server-side script files. Therefore, it is necessary that the server must have been compromised. On a shared server, this is "more or less to be expected," since hundreds if not thousands of people other than yourself have accounts on the same server(s). However, there is a lot that you can do to preven it: it only takes a couple of extra steps.
Always use sftp (secure FTP) to transfer files and to establish host sessions. Many hosting companies allow you to disable non-secure FTP, and you should do so.
Protect your username/password as robustly as you can. "password1234" is an extremely common password, as is "password."
After transferring files to your computer, use chown (Unix), cacls (Windows), or its equivalent to secure the files against anyone, including yourself. (You can always countermand your directives later, the next time you're ready to update the site.) This will at-least require the intruder to have compromised your account, not someone else's.
In that same vein, don't forget to secure all of the parent directories! "It'll do no damn good at all" if the intruder can replace your carefully-secured directory, in its entirety, with an altered one!
Make backups!
If your site permits any sort of user-contributed content to be provided, make absolutely sure it is well-filtered.

Try this from MacFixIt as well:
In the case of drive directory damage or problems with permissions, the solution is usually to use Apple's Disk Utility to repair the disk. Of course, you won't be able to perform this operation normally (simply launching the Disk Utility application, located in Applications/Utilities, and initiating a disk repair) if your system will not startup. So two options exist:
* Insert your Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) media (DVD or CD) and restart the computer while holding down the "C" key. Once the computer has booted from the installation disc, select "Utilities" from the menubar and open Disk Utility. Repair the disk, then quit Disk Utility and restart your system.
* Alternatively, you can repair the disk while booted in single user mode if you do not have access to a retail Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) DVD/CD. To startup in single user mode, hold down the "Command" and "S" keys simultaneously at startup. Once properly booted, type the command fsck at the prompt. Repeat these process until no errors appear.

I've got a problem, and i think this is something that concerns lots of users.
When i import my Camera Roll with Adobe Lightroom, iPhoto or OS X system import tool, i loose all changes i did on the phone (changes i've done either with iPhoto.app or stock app).
I know that this problem has been reported a lot of times, but the solution always points to THIS KB wich says to use Lightroom or iPhoto versions i already use.
So, can anybody help me?

Try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try the photo sync and see if they then copy over into the correct albums - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314
