Restarting Apache on reaching Max Connections

Hi All,
We are using OAS 10.1.3.1 in Solaris environment. Presently we have set max connections to 350. Once connections reaches max, apache is getting hanged & it resumes once we restart services using opmnctl. Is there any way to make restart apache by itself, once it reaches max connections.
thanx & regards

hi...
the best thing you can do is increase the max connection value... is it a prod insatance? since normally for prod instances its a higher value.

  • Apache POST flex2gateway never closes or times out, reaches max child processes

    We have been trying to pass an external PCI scan, and noticed some server lockups after starting a scan.  We are scanning a couple hundred IP addresses, which all resolve to the same servers.  The scans are actively looking for vulnerabilities on the box, and one of which is flash remoting.  When we look at the apache /server-status page, it shows a ton of long running flex2gateway processes.  For instance:
    22-4

    57.76
    x.x.x.101
    WebNode2.ambassador.int
    POST /flex2gateway/http HTTP/1.1
    As you can see, this POST request has been running for 163840 seconds, or nearly two days.  Since it seems these POST requests never complete, even though the client has long since disconnected, they simply stack up until the server's max number of child processes has been reached, effectively killing our webserver.
    When I try to restart the clustered coldfusion instances one at a time, these POST requests do not die off.
    If I stop both clustered CF instances, the requests complete (or get killed).
    If I reload or restart apache, the requests are gone as well.
    strace gives me nothing useful:
    [root@WebNode1 ~]# strace -p 34025
    Process 34025 attached - interrupt to quit
    read(185,
    pstack gives a little more, but nothing that looks obvious to me:
    [root@WebNode1 ~]# pstack -p 34025
    Usage: pstack <process-id>

    I dont know what that tells us exactly, but I'm leaning toward the hangup between apache and tomcat.
    Any suggestions on where how to troubleshoot this issue?

    On a test server, I have removed the wildcard from the uriworkermap.properties file, so it now only matches "/flex2gateway" and "/flex2gateway/".  Unfortunately I'm still seeing the occasional hung apache worker.
    Anyone have any leads on this issue?  I don't mind doing the research, I'v just exhausted the limits of my Google Fu.

  • Javax.resource.spi.ResourceAdapterInternalException: max connections reache

    Hello,
    I am writing an application to read messages from queues.
    Everything seems to be working fine, but after a number of un-deployments and deployments I start getting the following exception and have no choice but to restart the application server.
    Any hint on what the root cause might be?

  • REP-56055 Max Connect......URGENT!!!!!

    Hi,
    Am getting this max connect error quite regularly and having to restart the reports server. I have the max connect parameter set to 40 and there is only me running reports one at a time. Is there anything else that maybe tiying up connections? Any problems or specifics about the configuration i need to know.

    How did you over come this error.. we are into the same situation now.

  • How do I gracefully restart Apache?

    Is there any way to gracefully restart Apache? On a standard setup I would normally run this command:
    <pre>sudo apachectl graceful</pre>
    But the Apache 2 that comes with OS X Server 10.5 does not gracefully restart with this command. Instead it will interrupt all open connections stopping all downloads. I'm assuming this is because Apache is handled by launchd which doesn't support graceful restarts. Is there any way to get around this problem?

    I decided maybe there's a man page that will point in the right direction:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/Manpages/man1/launchct l.1.html
    This is a complete stab in the dark. Launchd can receive commands from launchctl. but the launchctl command syntax is not the same as say apachectl. Try this command:
    launchctl submit -p apachectl graceful
    Let me know if that really performs a graceful restart. I'm a big fan of the graceful restart myself, and would hate to see that option not available from the commandline.

  • How to set min & max connections for  MSSQLconnection pool

    Hi,
    I want to set minconnection, maxconnection, idletimeout initial limit for the pool
    I have got a MSSQL database connection using following java code.
    // MSSQL DbConnection Code
    import java.sql.*;
    public class MsSqlDataSource
    public static void main(String arr[])
    Connection con = null;
    ResultSet rs = null;
    try{
    com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDataSource ds = new com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDataSource();
    ds.setServerName("10.50.50.51");
    ds.setPortNumber(1711);
    ds.setDatabaseName("test");
    ds.setUser("starhome");
    ds.setPassword("starhome");
    con = ds.getConnection();
    }catch(Exception e){}
    }In oracle i have passed min and max number of connection properties through setConnectionCacheProperties method.
    //Connection Pooling using Oracle Data Source:
    m_connSource = new OracleDataSource();
    m_connSource.setDriverType("thin");
    m_connSource.setServerName(m_host);
    m_connSource.setNetworkProtocol("tcp");
    m_connSource.setDatabaseName(m_db);
    m_connSource.setPortNumber(m_port);
    m_connSource.setUser(m_user);
    m_connSource.setPassword(m_password);
    // Enable caching. m_connSource.setConnectionCachingEnabled(true);
    java.util.Properties prop = new java.util.Properties();
    prop.setProperty("MinLimit", m_minConnections);
    prop.setProperty("MaxLimit", m_maxConnections);
    prop.setProperty("InitialLimit", m_initialConnections);
    prop.setProperty("InactivityTimeout", m_inactivityTimeout);
    prop.setProperty("AbandonedConnectionTimeout", m_abandonedTimeout);
    prop.setProperty("ConnectionWaitTimeout", m_connWaitTimeout);
    m_connSource.setConnectionCacheProperties(prop);I dont know how to pass min and max number of connection properties for SQLServerDataSource. Is there any method available to pass min and max number of connection properties for SQLServerDataSource.
    Iam using Tomcat. I found one way to set min and max connections for pool by doing changes in context.xml and web.xml using below url http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-4.1-doc/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html
    I dont want to touch tomcat configuration files. I need to set connection pooling properties which is independent of application server.
    Please anybody give solution for this?
    Thanks,
    Prisha

    Hi,
    you need to define your database under the DB Admin tab. In the Schema objects node you'll find Sequence Implementations, and there you can definde min max values as well as caching and increments.

  • Can't reach max (also with fancontrol) and min fan speed manually

    I'm using fancontrol to control my fan's speed. One thing I noticed is that maximum fan speed is never reached even when temperatures exceed max limit.
    If I set max temperature in /etc/fancontrol to 55 and restart fancontrol, 55+°C will cause fan to speed only at ~5800 RPM. If I set min temperature to 60, fans will completely stop. 'pwm_enable' is set to 1 when fancontrol is running.
    Now if I stop fancontrol, fan will speed up to ~6460 RPM while 'pwm' is at 255 and 'pwm_enable' changed to 0. I can't change 'pwm' value at this point. If 'pwm' gets set to 0, fan will completely stop.
    At this point fancontrol is still not running. If I set 'pwm_enable' to 1 and leave 'pwm' at 255, fan will slow down to ~5800 RPM. If I set 'pwm' to 0, fan will not slow down completely, but will instead slow down to ~2080 RPM.
    What's interesting is that although fancontrol can't reach max fan speed, it can stop fan completely, while I can do neither manually.
    Any idea how to enable at least max fan speed for fancontrol?

  • JDBC Connection pools and clusters (is max connection for entire cluster?)

    Hi,
    Quick question.
    When using JDBC connection pools in WAS 6.40 (SP13) in a clustered environment. Are the max connections the number
    a)Each application server can use
    b)The entire cluster can use
    Would believe a), but I'd like it confirmed from someoneelse

    Hi Dagfinn,
    your assumption is correct. Therefore, in a cluster environment you'd need to make sure the DB can open <i>Number of nodes X max connections</i>.

  • How to restart Apache

    I am having trouble starting my web server and filemaker pro server. I think it would help if I could restart Apache. Does anyone know what the commands are for doing this on Leopard Server in terminal?

    to restart apache safely with Terminal, under root
    serveradmin stop web; serveradmin start web
    If you’ve made some modifications on some apache config files by hand (which means not using Server Admin/Web anymore usually), it’s a good idea to test the configuration before restarting Apache.
    Then you can use the apachectl command:
    apachectl -t
    to restart only teams server :
    serveradmin stop teams; serveradmin start teams
    Once the services says they have restarted give them few more seconds before trying to access them.
    That’s my experience anyways. Hope it helps.

  • Caanot restart apache after installing mod_jk connector

    Hallo,
    I have installed the mod_jk connector to use seperate apache and tomcat instances for my web ap. I followed the instructions here: http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2002/11/20/tomcat.html?page=2
    After making changes to httpd.conf, I am unable to restart apache - the sevent viewer gives the following message:
    "The Apache2 service terminated with service-specific error 1. "
    I think it has something to do with the addmodule lines i've added. Here is what I added to httpd.conf:
    AddModule mod_jk.c
    # JkWorkersFile C:/tomcat/Tomcat 5.5/conf/workers.properties
    # JkLogFile C:/tomcat/Tomcat 5.5/logs/mod_jk.log

    # JkMount /toolkit/servlet/* ajp13w
    # JkMount /toolkit/*.jsp ajp13w
    # <location "/toolkit/web-inf/">
    # AllowOverride None
    # deny from all
    # </location
    (all uncommented of course)
    I hope someone out there can help me with this.
    Thanks

    I used the mod-jk.dll and loadModule :
    # Load mod_jk module
