Restarts and loss of wifi
Restarting programs eating data and draining battery . This started just about a week ago. Have run clean Uninstaller and force stop...continues to switch or close out. Not sending texts like to used to. Also how to take photos out of phone and Sim card.???

I initially thought that it was only me but I see from this forum that it seems to be a fairly common iPad problem.
My iPad worked fine for a while but in the last three or so weeks it now loses its wifi connection every few minutes. If I open 'setting' I can see the wifi connection re-connect, and everything is fine for a few minutes.
It is definitely not my local wireless network - my partner can sit next to me with her iPad and she doesn't have the problem. Neither do any of my pc's, laptops and android phones have this problem.
I find it frustrating to use this particular iPad and find it very disappointing that a company like Apple have not come up with a fix. I've even seen messages where people who have had the very same problems have had replacement iPads from Apple.
Is there actually a fix for this, or should I march into my Apple store on a crowded Saturday morning and shout very loudly about the iPad not doing what it's supposed to do?
I suspect the latter.....but grateful if anyone does have a sensible solution for this.
By the way, instead of taking my iPad on holiday to Canada in a couple of weeks I have had to reconcile myself to the fact that I'll have to take my Lenovo notebook which I know will at least work.

We have 2 iPad 2's. For one of them it must be very close to the router to pick up a wifi signal. We have restarted and reset it without success. Using 7.1.1.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

I have two problems actually, which I think are connected.
I installed a new hard drive and am in the process of returning my macbook pro to normal. I'm now using Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I want to be able to update to OS Lion.
When my computer is on it can connect to our wifi without any problems (so the password is working). However, everytime I restart, it looses the connection and does not automatically reconnect. This never happened before and I can't seem to figure out where I can change this. All I have to do to reconnect is go to the wifi symbol and choose our wifi code. It then automatically connects without me needing to type the access code.
The seconde problem is when trying to update to OS Lion, when in recovery mode, all I get is a screen asking me to connect to wifi. I choose our wifi and now I do have to type a password, but whatever I do, it does not accept the code. It has nothing to do with capslock or anything like that.
We are sharing our wifi with our neighbour, so changing the password is not an option. But is is just a simple letters and numbers password.Why not do a "Restore" in iTunes to set it back to factory settings? That will eliminate any previous information that is causing you issues in use. You will have an iPod which you can sync as if it is new with your settings and info.

Is the router firmware up to date?
What type of security is it running? WEP, WPA, WPA2 (WPA2 is recommended, WEP is completely insecure)
Do you have MAC address filtering turned ON? If so, have you added your iPhone MAC address to the permitted list in your router? -

Here are details that might help on my case..
I bought the Itouch 5 on singapore exactly around January 2013 registered on January 1 on Apple web for warranty.
Around early Feb, i experienced some random restart and I tought it was just some bug after update, it was gone and came back around late march with some wifi issues, but not regularly, only around certain cases on using it for a long period of time. I am still experiencing it now.
The device never experienced drops,dents, nor water damage.. it is protected by an Ozaki case and screen protector bought in a Mac store. Never been Jailbraked. I used it for music, videos and gaming purpose. I have 3 idevice other than the Itouch (iPad 2, Ipad w/ retina display and Ipad Mini with no occuring problems both updated to ios 6.1.3 (so is the itouch). I would like to know what course of action should I take about this problem. I have restored the Ipod Touch 5G via iTunes but the problem still occuring both wifi and random restart. I bought the device on a legit mac authorized dealer. (Power Mac i think) in Singapore, but I live in General Santos City, Philippines. I would gretly appreciate if you give me exact details what course of action should i take.
P.S. my Ipod Touch 5 is running on iOS 6.1.3..If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

My IPhone 4S wifi won't turn on. Wifi button is gray. I have tried restart and very briefly the wifi will work. Any ideas??
My 4s also grayed out the wifi setting a couple of weeks ago. I called technical support and the guy _insisted_that there is no known problem with phones with respect to IOS 6. He told me to reset the phone and restore and that would probably solve all my problems. Really, there is nothing wrong with the phone, he told me. I had tried just about everything else I had found on-line. The complete erase and restore did not work.
Then I went to the Genius Bar and they tried a few things (more resets) and they concluded wifi is not functioning but since it is out of warranty, they want $199 to replace it. $199 is not the cost of a new phone so obviously there is some concession here but not a complete acceptance of responsiblity. The Genius Bar told me that - in fact - that there is a known firmware problem with the phones and IOS6 that crops up randomly. Not with a lot of phones, just the unlucky few. If it is out of warranty, you have to pay. Fortunately, I had an extended warranty with my credit card so I can get reimbursed.
My next purchase is going to be an android tablet. I'm going to wean myself away from the Apple orchard. I want to expand my options for my next phone purchase. -
About three days ago my ipod said i needed to sync and so i did . when i did it stop working and the wifi is grey out and says no wifi . Ive tried rebooting it , reseting , restarting but nothing seems to work . Can anybody help me ? Please !

I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?) touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

anyone can help ? pleasee ;(This is a totally absurd suggestion, except that it worked for me with my iPad. Forget the network, then when asked for the password, enter a wrong one. Try again and enter the correct password. Good luck.

I have tried to do everything I could find online to make wifi sync work with iTunes 10.6 and iPhone (iOS 5.1)...the second I disconnect my iPhone - the phone dissapears from iTunes (Wifi sync is checked).
I've tried to swtich off devices and shut down firewall already but none of that worked!

Jeethey everyone whoever reads this , i just found out the perfect solution to this problem of mine too but it takes some time and alot of download , just connect it to itunes , and take bacup the press the restore button it , itunes will download around 1 GB of software and then restore your iphone to factory condition and then itune wifi sync will work but if still it dosent do it again now itunes will not download then the problem is definately gone and so that you get your settings and data back right click on your iphone in device list and then select restore from backup optin it takes 5 minutes and here you get your iphone as it is with the wifi sync working perfectly

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
Running a mid 2009 iMac on 10.7.5, 3 gb memory, 320 gb hd.
Suddenly the computer stoped reading DVDs and the only time I can read a CD is if I restart. Quite often when I insert a CD it gets stuck and I cannot get it out until I restart and it shows up on the desktop where I can then eject it.
I have checked and double checked the finder prefs and all looks normal showing a check mark on CDs,DVDs etc. (the ones I want to show up on the desktop)
I have reset the PEAM, repaired permissions with both the disk utility on the computer and the disk utility when I start up in the Recovery Disk. I did notice that sometimes the permission repeat the same correction several times before it moves on, and sometimes it doesn’t. I have Windows installed on a partition but I keep it unmounted until it is needed for my wife’s work. The dock seems to be just fine and all the apps seems to run just fine. When I insert a photo CD iPhoto does not open but when I insert a music CD iTunes does open.
Also, most every time I open iPhoto it takes a long time(sometimes as long as 2 minutes) for it to load.
Sometimes my Mail (Mail 5.3) does not post new mail but most of the time it does.
Once and a while it seems like the computer slows way down but then it seems ok ten minutes later.
All of these ‘things’ seemed to have happen suddenly and I have not downloaded anything from the internet in some time.
Of course the warranty and extended warranty are both no longer in effect having had this computer for more than three years.
I am running Java and Adobe Player because some of the sites I go to a lot require both.I believe that insufficient RAM may be the source of some of your problems. If you have a RAM of somewhere 4 to 8GB, you will experience smoother computing. 3GB doesn't seem right, so you might want to learn more by going to this site:

I don't know what know what's happening with your optical drive, but it seems you use your drive quite a bit. In that case, look into a lens cleaner for your machine. It's inexpensive, works quite well.

(some turn off iPhone here, I do not) Hold both home and power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release power button, keep holding home button until iPhone recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually takes 10-20 seconds of holding the home button. If the iPhone screen is black (blank) the iPhone is in DFU Mode.
