Restrict weblogic server process to single CPU

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to restrict a weblogic server instance to a single CPU
on a multiple CPU Windows 2000 box.
Also if this is possible can I have two weblogic server instances which run parallel
on a two CPU Windows 2000 box.
Thanks,
Bhushan Kowshik

If you want a process on Windows to only use a subset of the available CPUs
you can use Task Manager to set the affinity. Right click on a process (in
your case java.exe) and choose "Set Affinity...".

    Hi,
    I'm suffering a serious sproblem that results in failure in starting WebLogic

    that changes the processes owner from "root" to "somebody". However, once i set
    it in Console (Configure a new Unix Machine), the server cannot start afterwards
    with the following errors in the screen (when i execute startWebLogic.sh) ...

    Hi,
    Few comments here...
    1) Seems your environment is not setup correctly but that is not the big cause here.....
    2) This one is important, it seems that you installed weblogic using a different account and are trying to run it from a different account.
    So the account with which you are trying to run weblogic does not have proper permission on
    MW_HOME\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\config\fmwconfig\bootstrap\cwallet.sso
    Right click on the file and go in properties ..
    Enable full control,modify,Read and execute,read and write permissions for the user you are trying to start weblogic and apply it.
    if this simple steps doesnt work, please enable more logging by adding "-Djava.security.debug=jpspolicy" to startup option and grab more details.
    Good Luck let me know if this works.

  • Server Process taking all CPU time intermittently on Solaris

    Hi,
    What does my program do :-
    We have been facing this problem from many days, We have a server
    process which is continuously listening at a port on Solaris 5.8.
    Whenever a request is sent to this server a new thread & a socket is created for that client.
    This process is running as a proxy server, which connects to some other machine on client request.
    Problem:
    The process start taking whole CPU after few days, happens in a weeks
    period. The process remain in this state for few hours & after that it
    stops responding to any requests.
    & the only thing which can be done, to make it work is to restart the
    process.
    If someone has faced a similar problem then please let me know if you
    have found a solution for that.
    I will give 10 duke dollars to you if you can provide a solution for this problem.

    Here is another class which is used in my code:
    package com.ge.med.service.olea.telnetapplet.proxy;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.*;
    import java.util.*;
    * This class is a generic framework for a flexible, multi-threaded server.
    * It listens on any number of specified ports, and, when it receives a
    * connection on a port, passes input and output streams to a specified Service
    * object which provides the actual service. It can limit the number of
    * concurrent connections, and logs activity to a specified stream.
    public class Server {
    // This is the state for the server
    ConnectionManager connectionManager; // The ConnectionManager object
    Hashtable services; // The current services and their ports
    ThreadGroup threadGroup; // The threadgroup for all our threads
    PrintWriter logStream; // Where we send our logging output to
    * This is the Server() constructor. It must be passed a stream
    * to send log output to (may be null), and the limit on the number of
    * concurrent connections. It creates and starts a ConnectionManager
    * thread which enforces this limit on connections.
    public Server(OutputStream logStream, int maxConnections) {
    setLogStream(logStream);
    log("Starting server");
    threadGroup = new ThreadGroup("Server");
    connectionManager = new ConnectionManager(threadGroup, maxConnections);

    * This class is a subclass of Thread that handles an individual connection
    * between a client and a Service provided by this server. Because each
    * such connection has a thread of its own, each Service can have multiple
    * connections pending at once. Despite all the other threads in use, this
    * is the key feature that makes this a multi-threaded server implementation.
    public class Connection extends Thread {
    Socket client; // The socket to talk to the client through
    Service service; // The service being provided to that client
    * This constructor just saves some state and calls the superclass
    * constructor to create a thread to handle the connection. Connection
    * objects are created by Listener threads. These threads are part of

    * group, too.

    ":" + client.getPort());
    this.client = client;
    this.service = service;
    * This is the body of each and every Connection thread.
    * All it does is pass the client input and output streams to the
    * serve() method of the specified Service object. That method
    * is responsible for reading from and writing to those streams to
    * provide the actual service. Recall that the Service object has been
    * passed from the Server.addService() method to a Listener object
    * to the ConnectionManager.addConnection() to this Connection object,
    * and is now finally getting used to provide the service.
    * Note that just before this thread exits it calls the
    * ConnectionManager.endConnection() method to wake up the
    * ConnectionManager thread so that it can remove this Connection
    * from its list of active connections.
    public void run() {

    OutputStream out = client.getOutputStream();
    // service.serve(in, out);
    ((ProxyServer.Proxy)service).serve(in, out,client);
    catch (IOException e) {log(e);}
    finally { connectionManager.endConnection(); }
    * Here is the Service interface that we have seen so much of.
    * It defines only a single method which is invoked to provide the service.
    * serve() will be passed an input stream and an output stream to the client.
    * It should do whatever it wants with them, and should close them before
    * returning.
    * All connections through the same port to this service share a single
    * Service object. Thus, any state local to an individual connection must
    * be stored in local variables within the serve() method. State that should
    * be global to all connections on the same port should be stored in
    * instance variables of the Service class. If the same Service is running
    * on more than one port, there will typically be different Service instances
    * for each port. Data that should be global to all connections on any port
    * should be stored in static variables.
    * Note that implementations of this interface must have a no-argument
    * constructor if they are to be dynamically instantiated by the main()
    * method of the Server class.
    public interface Service {
    public void serve(InputStream in, OutputStream out) throws IOException;

  • What is the HTTP server [default/built-in] that Weblogic server uses

    Is the built-in web server in weblogic Apache or is it some other http server that
    BEA owns ?

    WebLogic Server is a single java process, that has two listen ports, one SSL
    and non-ssl.
    These two ports use protocol discrimination to handle multiple protocols on
    a single port.
    NON-SSL --> http, t3 (proprietary rmi protocol), iiop
    SSL --> https, t3s, iiops
    So WebLogic comes with a build in Webserver. Or you can use a third party
    webserver in front of WLS with plugin to proxy to WLS.
    See;
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/plugins/
    Cheers

  • Weblogic server proces on unix

    How to set weblogic server process as a service in unix like windows service

    1) First verify if the WebTier really down. See instructions in the following MOS note:
        EM 12c: Enterprise Manager 12.1.0.2 Cloud Control status shows the WebTier is Down even though the OMS is Up and Running (Doc ID 1561468.1)
       Note: If the version of your WebTier (Oracle HTTP Server) is 11.1.1.6, it is recommended that you apply patch 13490778 to avoid false alerts on Oracle HTTP server (down status).
    2) The above MOS note includes instructions for starting the Oracle HTTP Server (e.g. ohs1) using command opmnctl. Also, when you run command 'emctl start oms', the WebTier will be started before the OMS. Thus, if restarting the OMS is not an issue, you can run 'emctl stop oms -all' to stop all OMS related processes including the WebTier, then run 'emctl start oms' to restart the OMS along with the WebTier.
    3) See the following doc for guidelines on starting EM12c components:
    Starting and Stopping Enterprise Manager Components
    By default, the OMS and agent are automatically started on host bootup.
    Hope this helps.

  • Bea weblogic server 6.1 - Failure in process sockets - Java.lang.NoSuchmethod Error

    Hi
    I have installed the BEA weblogic server 6.1 service pack 4 as part of PIA (PeopleSoft
    Internet Architecture) installation for PeopleSoft 8.8.
    After starting the weblogic server, When I type the
    http://localhost:12080 (http port number 12080) ideally it should take me to
    the BEA home page, but it is throwing an error in the log file.
    " Failure in Process sockets - Get Data Java.lang.nosuchmethod error"
    Your help is very much appreciated.
    Any pointers are welcome.
    Thanks
    Aswartha

    I had similar problems with my install of Weblogic 6.1 sp4. I am installing PS
    HRMS 8.8 sp1
    and PeopleTools 8.44 Patch 2 (Patch 2 is required for install) Peoplesoft sent
    me Weblogic 8.1
    with my new Tools 8.44. This version and installation is light years ahead of
    Weblogic 6.1. If
    you are able to load the new version of Weblogic and Tuxedo, it is worth it.
    If not, you may want to check to see if your JAR file was installed correctly.
    (The new version
    of WL doesn't make you unzip your JAR files for the install.)
    In the command line for unzipping the JAR file, make sure you type the phrase
    EXACTLY as
    shown IT IS CASE SENSITIVE. I messed with this for two hours until I saw that
    I wasn't putting
    a capital letter in one of the words where I should have been.
    Hope this helps.

  • Configuring multiple instances of weblogic server 7.0 on single machine

    Hi,
    I am trying to configure multiple instances of weblogic server 7.0 on single machine
    ( sun Solaris 7). I tried to create everytime new domain. Can anybody help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ravi

    You can have several servers under one domain. No need to create a new
    domain for each server. Just configure a server and make sure they are
    listening on different ports. you are all set.

  • Problems unwrapping SPNEGO token for Single Signon (SSO) in WebLogic Server

    First of all, a quick description of our issue. We’ve tried many different things, but cannot get WebLogic to unwrap the SPNEGO token so it authenticates using Kerberos. We received several errors while trying to debug, here’s the one we see most:
    KDC has no support for encryption type (14)
    But we doubt it has anything to do with the encryption type, as these are set correctly everywhere.
    We’ve tried following some of the instructions on the BEA website (which contain several errors).
    One of them was also adding a host/ SPN (in krb5login.conf) but then, when using HTTP/ SPN we get the following error (it seems with multiple SPN’s it only takes the first or last SPN that was set):
    Client not found in Kerberos database (6)
    Next try was using the host/ SPN but that results in the following error:
    Integrity check on decrypted field failed (31)
    We’ve tried changing the default_enctypes in KRB5.INI (We’ve removed the entries, and also tried only DESCBC_MD5 and DES_CBC_CRC) but that did not change the behaviour.
    We’ve tried adding the AllowTGTSessionKey registry key on client and server, but that didn’t change it either.
    We are not sure what details you need for this to debug, so here’s what we’ve done to install the environment (please note that ip-addresses, domain, client and server names are made up and are different in real-life),
    We have two domains:
    Domain1 (DOMAIN1.COM) contains:
    Domain Controller      “AD1”      with IP 192.168.0.1
    Domain Controller      “AD2”      with IP 192.168.1.1
    Client           “Client1”      with IP 192.168.2.1
    Domain2 (DOMAIN2.COM) contains:
    Domain Controller      “AD3”      with IP 10.0.0.1
    Server (WebLogic)     “Server1”      with IP 10.0.1.2
    Between Domain1 and Domain2 a firewall exists in which we’ve opened the relevant ports like LDAP (TCP 389), Kerberos (UDP 88), WebLogic (7001/7002).We do not see any firewall blocks on other ports…
    We’ve configured AD1 (Microsoft AD with KDC) as follows:
    1. Account “SSOAccountAD” created
    2. Password never expires
    3. DES encryption on
    4. Do not require Kerberos preauthentication off
    5. Password “Password” was reset several times
    6. ServicePrincipalName was set using this
        setspn -A HTTP/Server1.DOMAIN1.COM SSOAccountAD7. ServicePrincipalName on AD1 was checked (and found to be ok) using this command:
        setspn -L SSOAccountAD8. KTPass was executed:
    ktpass -princ HTTP/[email protected] -mapuser SSOAccountAD -pass Password9. User Logon name was checked, it's set to "HTTP/Server1"
    10. ServicePrincipalName on AD2 was checked (and found to be ok) using this command:
    setspn -L SSOAccountADWe’ve configured the WebLogic Server (Server1) as follows:
    1. LDAP authentication was activated and test ok
    2. Single Pass Negotiate Identity Asserter was created with Chosen Type “Authorization”
    3. KRB5.INI file was created and added to %windir% (and C:\WINNT folder to be able to test with Java ktab and kinit which do not look in the %windir% folder):
    [libdefaults]
    default_realm = DOMAIN1.COM
    dns_lookup_realm = false
    dns_lookup_kdc = false
    default_tkt_enctypes=DES-CBC-CRC
    default_tgs_enctypes=DES-CBC-CRC
    [realms]
    DOMAIN1.COM = {
    kdc = 192.168.0.1
    admin_server = 192.168.0.1
    default_domain = DOMAIN1.COM
    [domain_realm]
    .domain1.com = DOMAIN1.COM
    domain1.com = DOMAIN1.COM
    [appdefaults]
    autologin = true
    forward = true
    forwardable = true
    encrypt = true4. We’ve installed JDK 1.5.0.12: jdk-1_5_0_12-windows-i586-p.exe
    5. Keytab File was created (with password “Password”):
    ktab -k SSOKeyTabFile -a HTTP/[email protected]. Keytab File and Kerberos communication was tested using:
    kinit -k -t SSOKeyTabFile HTTP/[email protected]. Keytab File and Kerberos communication was tested using Java (incl. Debugging):
    java -Dsun.security.krb5.debug=true sun.security.krb5.internal.tools.Kinit -k -t SSOKeyTabFile HTTP/[email protected]. Keytab was listed:
    java -Dsun.security.krb5.debug=true sun.security.krb5.internal.tools.Klist9. SSOKeyTabFile was copied to the WebLogic ProductionDomain folder
    10. The krb5login.conf file was created and copied to the WebLogic ProductionDomain folder:
    com.sun.security.jgss.initiate {
         com.sun.security.auth.module.Krb5LoginModule required
         principal="HTTP/[email protected]" useKeyTab=true
         keyTab=SSOKeyTabFile storeKey=true debug=true;
    com.sun.security.jgss.accept {
         com.sun.security.auth.module.Krb5LoginModule required
         principal=" HTTP/[email protected] " useKeyTab=true
         keyTab=SSOKeyTabFile storeKey=true debug=true;
    };11. WebLogic service and startWeblogic.cmd were modified with the following parameters:
    -Djava.security.krb5.realm=DOMAIN1.COM
    -Djava.security.krb5.kdc=192.168.0.1
    -Djava.security.auth.login.config=<ProductionFolder>\krb5login.conf
    -Djavax.security.auth.useSubjectCredsOnly=false
    -Dweblogic.security.enableNegotiate=true
    -DDebugSecurityAdjudicator=true
    -Dweblogic.debug.DebugSecurityAtn=true
    -Dweblogic.debug.DebugSecurityAtz=true
    -Dweblogic.Debug.DebugSecurityATN=true
    -Dweblogic.StdoutSeverityLevel=64
    -Dweblogic.StdoutDebugEnabled=true
    For the client pc (Client1) we’ve checked the browser settings:
         Automatic Logon only in Intranet Zone
         Enable Integrated Windows Authentication
    On the client we’ve used “kerbtray.exe” to see whether a kerberos token is created, and it is (although with the full domain name, HTTP/Server1.domain1.com).
    We’ve checked for Kerberos communication with Wireshark and see that the client does communicate, and passes the SPNEGO token to the WebLogic server, but we do not see any Kerberos communication on the WebLogic server. The server simply requests Authorisation again…
    If required we have the full wireshark traces of the WebLogic Server and the Client. We also have very detailed WebLogic tracing which I can provide.
    Any thoughts?
    Kind Regards,
    Nika.

    It turned out to be solved by removing the SSOAccount in AD and recreating it (including re-setting the password, which had already been done several times).
    Regards,
    Nika.

  • How to run weblogic server in background process on Windows XP 2002 ?

    Hi,
    I have installed weblogic server 9.2 in Windows XP 2002, I want to start my weblogic server and instances in background and keep running .
    Can anybody please provide information on the same ?
    Thanks in Advance,

    Hi Kartheek,
    If you're new to running WebLogic as a Windows service, you'll probably find it a bit tricky at first. I found troubleshooting problems, especially start-up and process-crashes, awkward at first. If you have time, you may want to check these out:

  • 10.3, how to configure cluster as "single Weblogic server"

    Hello,
    We have a Cluster with Two Managed servers. The ports for the MS's are 7002, 7003. We want deployments for these servers to be visible through port 80/443. Currently we have Mapviewer application deployed and targeted to the cluster. All servers are RUNNING and the deployment is active. However we are only able to access the deployment on ports 7002, 7003.
    The documentation states: "A WebLogic Server cluster consists of multiple WebLogic Server server instances running simultaneously and working together to provide increased scalability and reliability. A cluster appears to clients to be a single WebLogic Server instance."
    But nowhere does it state how to get a cluster to appear as a "single Weblogic server instance". Where does this happen in the admin console or config files? Perhaps its a node manager function? Please help. Thank you.

    Thank you. I was beginning to think it was something external to Weblogic. I saw alot in the docs about Load Balancing within Weblogic but didn't read much into it. I'm assuming its more at the application level? Anyhow..
    Reading the description of the FrontEndHttpPort config option for Clusters made me think it was the solution:
    "Sets the FrontendHTTPPort for the default webserver (not virtual hosts) for all the servers in the cluster. Provides a method to ensure that the webapp will always have the correct PORT information, even when the request is coming through a firewall or a proxy. If this parameter is configured, the HOST header will be ignored and the information in this parameter will be used in its place, when constructing the absolute urls for redirects."
    I would set FrontendHTTPPort to 80, restart everything and get strange results. If I typed in http://localhost:7003/mapviewer it will redirect browser to http://localhost/mapviewer/faces/home.jspx and give a 404 type error. Using this new URL if I inserted the :7003 port again and hit go, the page would come up...but submitting a form or link on the page it would redirect back to port 80 and a 404 error. edit: this is probably working as intended.
    So is there a popular solution or plugin for this issue?

  • DNS server process, high CPU usage

    Hello,
    I am having a problem with high CPU usage on DNS process. We have 1921 setup in network of about 100 workstations that use it as DNS server. It also performs split view functionality for couple of domains in order to avoid hairpin NAT. I know that a router is not fit for heavy server duty but such setup was unfortunately necessary.
    In peak work hours we oftenly have CPU hitting 100%  with DNS server process being the root cause,and on several occasions we had DNS process stuck in such state for prolonged periods of time during which other router functions were affected (t's a default gateway, IPsec concentrator etc.). Sometimes shutting the process and restarting it would solve the problem, but once it required a full reload in order to restore functionality (such was the description that engineer on duty reported to me).
    Forwarder queue statistics:
    Current size = 0
    Maximum size = 86
    Drops        = 0
    IOS upgrade did not help, we are currently running 15.2(2)T.
    The question is ... is such behaviour (CPU load) to be expected on LAN with 100 workstations due to slow CPU on router or we have bugged IOS DNS server (requiring a TAC case)?
    The previous solution seem to do this functionality quite nicely (even though it was also a router), so I am not inclined to think that we are dealing with someone DoS-ing the DNS (WAN access to DNS is of course forbidden)
    P.S.
    Since we moved servers off the routers DNS, we do not receive complaints, but we had a couple of unresolved messages a day while mail server was using router for DNS. I am suspecting that an old bug where IOS DNS servers occasionaly sends clients back empty DNS replies (properly formatted message but without A record) could be still around?

    hi,
    i have the same problem on UC540 and 2911 on IOS 15.0.1. CPU high, router crashed. Reboot helps but until CPU usage spikes again. the only fix is to remove "ip dns server" from config and use a different DNS server
