Result Set - XML conversion - Problem in FormattedDataSet

Hi,
I'm trying to convert the JDBC resultset into a XML file.
I read somewhere that FormattedDataSet interface has many methods that are very useful in converting the resultset to XML.
I downloaded the following files as mentioned in the website:
1. fdsapi.jar
2. jakarta-oro-2.0.8.jar
3. JAMon.jar
Also as mentioned in the website (http://www.fdsapi.com/), I placed these jar files in my classpath. My classpath looks like:
D:\Programs>set classpath
CLASSPATH=D:\XMLConv\Installations\FormattedDataSet\fdsapi.jar;
D:\XMLConv\Installations\FormattedDataSet\jakarta-oro-2.0.8.jar;
D:\XMLConv\Installations\FormattedDataSet\JAMon.jar
But when I executed my program through Command line, I'm getting this error:
a1.java:6: cannot find symbol
symbol : class FormattedDataSet
location: class a1
FormattedDataSet rs = FormattedDataSet.createInstance();
^
a1.java:6: cannot find symbol
symbol : variable FormattedDataSet
location: class a1
FormattedDataSet rs = FormattedDataSet.createInstance();
^
2 errors
I tried running in Eclipse editor(IDE) where I included the above said jar files as External JAR files. But, even there, I'm getting the same error.
Could somebody please let me know how to solve this error.
Thanks

Checking the fdsapi.jar file reveals that the FormattedDataSet class is part of the JAR. Have you included the import statement for the package in your source? For example:
import com.fdsapi.*;

  • Blob to Clob XML conversion problem

    Hello,
    I have a table with a blob column that contains different types of documents (.doc, .pdf, .gif, .xml, etc). The xml documents use UTF-8 encoding and contain some of the multi-byte characters. I'm trying to extract and convert the xml blob content into a clob variable so I can parse it into an xmldom object. The database characterset is WE8ISO8859P1, so the multi-byte characters do not translate well.
    Is there any way to directly load/parse binary data into an xmldom object without having it go through the character translation, and have it recogized as utf-8?
    Or, is there a way to create and use a clob variable that is in a different characterset than the database characterset?
    The database version is 9.2.0.5
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    In general the NCLOB data type is used for use. However XMLType does not support NCLOB for various valid technical reasons.
    In order for the XMLType based functions to work the database character set must be capable of representing all of the characters in the document. This means that in your case the only way you can process these documents is to convert the database character set to AL32UTF8.
    Sorry if this is bad news.

    What does the XML look like? It appears that some of the supposed XML stored as a CLOB is not really valid XML. Find the row in the table that is causing your issue and review the "XML" in it.

    Please state your problem that you are having more clearly so we can help.
    I looked at your code I here are a few things you might consider:
    It looks like you are putting freely typed-in comments from end-users into an xml document.
    The problem with this is that the user may enter characters in his text that have special meaning
    to xml and will have to be escaped correctly. Some of these characters are less than character, greater than character and ampersand character.
    You may also have a similiar problem displaying them on your JSP page since there may be special characters that JSP has.
    You will have to read up on how to deal with these special characters (I dont remember what the rules are). I seem to recall
    if you use CDATA in your xml, you dont have to deal with those characters (I may be wrong).
    When you finish writing your code, test it by entering all keyboard characters to make sure they are processed, stored in the database,
    and re-displayed correctly.
    Also, it looks like you are putting business logic in your JSP page (creating an xml file).
    The JSP page is for displaying data ONLY and submitting back to a servlet. Put all your business logic in the servlet. Putting business logic in JSP is considered bad coding and will cause you many hours of headache trying to debug it. Also note: java scriptlets in a JSP page are only run when the JSP page is compiled into a servlet by java. It does not run after its compiled and therefore you cant call java functions after the JSP page is displayed to the client.

  • Xcelsius with XMLA or XML Query Result Set

    Hi Experts,
    I want a direct connection from Xcelsius to my BW-Data. Because the new connection, coming with Fix Pack 2.1 is only avaiable for EHP 1 for NW 7.0 I tried to configure with XMLA and XML Query Result Set.
    This Document tells the necessary steps: How to integrate Xcelsius 2008 with SAP NetWeaver BI without Integration Kit.pdf.
    When I test my XML connection over http://<host>:<port>/TXmla/srvlet/TestXmla my Cubes will display.
    So I do a Webservice-Connection with WSDL-URL. At Input-Values there are some entries like CUBE_NAME, CATALOG_NAME...
    Output values arent avalible. How do I use these elements to show my Data in Xcelsius?
    My Problem with the XML Query Result Set Connection is, that when I Log On to VC the following error appears:
    You are not authorized to view the requested resource.
    So I get the authorisationobjects: S_DEVELOP and S_RS_COMP as describe in 'How To... Resolve Visual Composer Issues'.
    What values have I to enter by S_RS_COMP? And how can I enter my External Service in S_SERVICE. At the type WS the service isnt't avaiable.
    Regards,
    Jan

    To use XMLA web service you need a wrapper function build to convert the XMLA output to the Xcelsius format. There are some documents available in SDN on how to do this.
    You can use Live Office or Query as a Web service option to connect from Xcelsius to BW.
    S_RS_COMP is the query ID which you are trying to access, S_SERVICE you can either give * or try to set up authorization log and see the expected value.

  • IBR: Setting up DOC to XML Conversion

    Hello,
    I need to enable automatic conversion of DOC,DOCX documents to XML format.
    I've set up IBR enabling XML Converter component then restarted IBR server. I've configured an outgoing provider from UCM to IBR and the connection is good.
    When I check-in a DOC (or DOCX) file it says "GeneratingWWW" but the web viewable format generated still remains a .doc (or .docx) document.
    Am I missing something??Maybe there is some additional configuration parameter to set in UCM??
    Thank you in advance forn any answer.
    Best Regards.

    I've figured out what's missing so I've solved the problem.
    I (stupidly) simply forgot to enable XML conversion on "Primary Web-Viewable Rendition" tab.
    Sorry for this topic! ;)
    Greets! ;)

  • Problem in Retrive values from result set

    I have a class where i do all database operation .First i fire select query and take values from result set and based on that value i fire update query.
    Problem is that i am not getting all values from result set . i get only last value and when i fire update query i get error as :Resultset is closed.
    I am using acess and java.

    You probably are using the same Statement object for both queries? Try creating separate Statement objects for each query. (My guess is this a problem with the way you're using JDBC, not a Servlet issue.)

  • Problem in creating Saved Result Set (SRS) in OBIEE 10.1.3.4

    Hi,
    We have migrated Siebel Analytincs 7.8.5 to OBIEE 10.1.3.4, and we are now unable to create any SRS from OBIEE though we can create Segment and marketing cache for the segment.
    We did the following steps -
    1. Unisntall Siebel Analytincs 7.8.5
    2. Install OBIEE 10.1.3.4
    3. Use MIGRATE tool (sawmigrate) to migrate RPD & WEBCAT
    4. We have ALTERed the SRS tables - M_SR_HEADER, M_SR_ACCOUNT (as in OBIEE version there are many new columns have been added)
    5. We passed GLOBAL CONSISTENCY in the RPD
    6. We followed the steps in the document *"Oracle®Marketing Segmentation Guide Version 10.1.3.4 July 2008"*
    7. We created a Saved Result Set Format as instructed in the document - here we are very confused to select the list of columns - we don't know what should be the excat source / format
    8. Then we click the SRS create button
    9. We got the below error -

    Hi,
    It seems like you didnt setup the Administrator user for Saved Result Sets as it mentioned in the Marketing Segmentation Guide.
    Here is an extract from the guide:
    Setting Up the Web Administrator for Managing Cache and Saved Result Sets
    Some queries issued by the segmentation engine require the use of the Execute Physical stored
    procedure. These queries include delete statements on the cache, delete statements on the saved
    result sets, and insert statements for the cache and saved result set. The Execute Physical stored
    procedure must be run by a user with administrator privileges. The administrator user is set up in
    the instanceconfig.xml file.
    NOTE: The BI Administrator password and login parameters are case sensitive.
    To set up the administrative user in the instanceconfig.xml file
    1 Open a command shell and navigate to the <OracleBI>/web/bin, where <OracleBI> represents
    the root directory of the installation.
    2 Execute the following command:
    cryptotools credstore -add -infile <OracleBIData>/web/config/credentialstore.xml
    3 When prompted, enter the following values:
    Credential Alias: admin
    Username: Administrator
    Password: <enter Admin password here>
    Do you want to encrypt the password? y
    Passphrase for encryption: <password >
    Do you want to write the passphrase to the xml? n
    File "<OracleBIData>/web/config/credentialstore.xml" exists. Do you want to overwrite it? y
    4 Open the credentialstore.xml file and verify that the following section has been created:
    <sawcs:credential type="usernamePassword" alias=“admin">
    <sawcs:username> Administrator </sawcs:username>
    <sawcs:password>
    <xenc:EncryptedData>

    It is OK to post a globalization-related question in this forum in addition to the forum pertaining to the main technology. Not all experts follow all possible forums on OTN. Of course, you should cross-link the posts to let people merge the answers.
    Regarding the problem itself, make sure that SQL*Plus has the right NLS_LANG setting in the environment. On Windows, in the Command Prompt:
    C:\> set NLS_LANG=.WE8PC850
    C:\> sqlplus ...On Unix:
    $ setenv NLS_LANG .WE8ISO8859P1   (or NLS_LANG=.WE8ISO8859P1; export NLS_LANG)
    $ sqlplus ...-- Sergiusz

    Error is Thrown only with Scrollable Result set and with j2sdk1.4.0_01

    Did you forget to put the SQL statement in when you used createStatement? I added it below:
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("Jdbc:Odbc:IMSMC","sa","");
    String sql="select * from <Table Name> ";
    Statement stmt=conn.createStatement(sql, ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE,ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
    Does the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver accomodate any of these settings you're trying?
    The problem shouldn't have anything to do with Tomcat. Sounds like a JDBC driver issue to me. Try to reproduce the error without Tomcat, and then see if adding the SQL corrects things at all.
    I'd read the docs to see if the bridge driver has these features. I don't think it's up to the full standard.
