Result to Text : Spaces
hi~ I am writing a query to result to text:
select db_name(dbid),dbid from sys.sysprocesses
but there is alot of spaces after the column of db_name...
how to trim them ??
sakurai_db,
You could limit the length by having a cast:
select cast(db_name(dbid) as varchar(10)),dbid from sys.sysprocesses
However, if you are looking to copy paste result to another document or file, i'd recommend to go with the grid viewer. Thats pretty neat and tidy. Text viewer is recommended when reading queries I'd say.
Also refer this thread on the same topic:

Thanks,
Jay

Search Results Query Text - Get all data, Exclude all list data except one
Hi Experts,
I have a situation wherein in the global search of our internal site, we have to display all results & restrict any list item except one list. Earlier we had restricted /Lists/ & People to be displayed in the results.
But in the new search results I have to display results from only one list along with other results (documents, sites, pages etc).
Below is the original query text entered in the Search Results Query Text editor
{searchboxquery} -contentclass:STS_List_Links
-filename:allitems.aspx -Path:/articles/Pages/default.aspx
-filename:DispForm.aspx -Path:/Lists/ -Path:person.aspx
I have tried various different queries with AND, OR operator. I have researched other blogs, sites over google. But unsuccessful. I am sure this is not a rare requirement. Need your expert help.
I have tried this query also...
{searchboxquery} (-filename:allitems.aspx -Path:/articles/Pages/ -Path:/Lists/ -Path:/PublishingImages/) OR
(+(+Path: /Lists/ArticleContent/ AND +filename:*.aspx) AND
-(-Path: */Lists/* OR -filename:*.aspx))
Vighnesh Bendre
MCTS
http://markviky.blogspot.comVighnesh,
You should have success using the following:
{searchboxquery} -contentclass:STS_List_Links -filename:allitems.aspx -Path:/articles/Pages/default.aspx -Path:person.aspx ((-filename:DispForm.aspx -Path:/Lists/) OR Path:/Lists/ArticleContent/)
Two things from your original query were excluding list items from your results, your exclusion of file
DispForm.aspx and path Lists. By using "OR" in the above query, we're creating an exception to also allow items under
Lists/ArticleContent to be included in the results. -
Issue using Tools- Options- Result to Text to customize column delimiter
Hi all,
I need to export a large dataset (greater than 6 GB) to text file.
Since the dataset contains special characters, I cannot use Import and Export Wizard to export it into text file. (Error Message).
So I used Tools --> Options --> Result to Text. However, I cannot actually customize the delimiter.
First of all, I can only enter one character as the delimiter, and thus no character combination allowed.
Secondly, I entered # and ^ as the customized delimiter. Neither of them worked. The delimiter is always | (pipe), which does not work well for my dataset.
Does anybody have the same experience? Please help.
Thanks.You don't need to do a replace, I think it will complicate the things.
Use the Import-Export Wizard to export the data.
If you have "|" in your data still you can go ahead and use the pipe character as delimiter. However in that case you should mention the text qualifier which will be used to enclose each column value.
This can be a single or many characters.
and here is how my output looked like after I exported the below table
create table TestExport(id int identity(1,1), textdata varchar(100))
insert into TestExport values('Some|deletimete~data');
I used " (double quote) as the text qualifier here
Here you will be able to distinguish between the actual delimiter and the delimiter character appearing in the data.
While exporting the data into the another data destination(I am assuming you are not going to sit and read a 6GB text file:) ), you can mention the same text qualifier and import the data

How to ask questions in technical forum -
I am unable to access my mail account on my iphone, which I have been able to do previously. I press the mail icon, the page refreshes to the mail format page - blue bar top and bottom, white text space in the middle.... and that is as far as it goes. It does not list my email accounts or offer any.
Close the mail app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up. -
Saving query results to text file
Hi experts,
I would like to save a query results to text file.
The query has desined to the correct structure and I wish the query results will be saved automaticly to text file every time the query is running.
The query should cintain some sql code that will save the query to text file instead of show the query results.
What function of SQL should I add to query to achieve that goal. (The query is a long one).
Thanks in advance,
JosephIf you are talking about Query Manager, it is not difficult to do. No matter how long your query coding is, just go to the start point of your query. Then press CtrlShiftEnd to select all the TEXTs. CtrlC and CtrlV will copy the text (query codes) to text file easily.
Thanks,
Gordon -
Dear All,
I am currently trailing the product and would like to ask if
any of you can confirm if it is possible to edit the results page
text.
Currently feedback gives a “failure” or
“Pass” rating and it is this text I would like to
change.
With thanks in advance, J.Hi Rick
Thanks for the quick response.
May be I am being dumb, but as I am just beginning to tinker
I forgive myself ;o) I am specifically referring to the message
“Sorry, you failed” bottom left of the results page as
appose to the quiz manager editable fields (default labels etc..)]
If there is a way of editing the you failed message could you
send me a URL to relevant help as so far not had any luck in
locating any.
Best, J -
Copying selected text results in text without spaces.
When I select and copy text from most PDFs and paste it tome some other app, the resulting text has no spaces between words.
Example:
Littleworktodateinsentimentanalysi
Whereas in other app that uses iOS buil in:
Little work to date in sentiment analysis
The weird thing is that in some documents I am able to copy paste from Acrobat correctly.Do you have thar Persian font in your system? If you don't, copy and paste will produce only garbage.

Creating a folder results in "no space left on device"?
Hi again,
today I encountered the following problem: trying to create a folder on one of my Xsan volumes resulted in a "no space left on device" error, although there are still 3.81 TB available.
I also tried copying a disk image of 160 MB to the volume which failed as well. Copying a plain file of 256 MB which I created using dd went just fine.
Creating a folder from the terminal resulted in an error, too.
Any hints anyone?
Thanks,
StephanBut what I don't get is why a single flat file can be still copied to the volume. Does a folder need "more" meta-data than a flat file?
Theoreticaly an interesting question. (which I do not have the answer for). In your situation I would focus on the full pool problem.
Probably your volume setting for storage allocation is still at the default "round robin". When you added a new pool you should have put it at "Balance". You still should do it now.
After that, you take some material which is on the full pool. Later you put it back. It should go to the most empty pool now.
There are also ways from the snfsdefrag command to accomplish this. Please read the manpage. -
Different results of color space conversion
I am converting a raw image.
1. First in ProPhoto, passing it to PS CS3, accepting ProPhoto (against the working color space), and then I convert it in sRGB in Edit.
2. Next, converting it in ProPhoto, but when CS3 receives it, I ask for immediate conversion in sRGB, the working space.
3. Third, I change the color sapace in ACR to sRGB and pass the image to CS3.
Of course, the ACR adjustment parameters are identical in the three processes.
1 and 3 are almost identical (a difference layer does show differences, but I don't see them on the results without huge boosting, and that shows quite random, noise-like difference).
However, 1 and 2 are *vastly* different. The difference, boosted by 2 EV clearly shows the original texture, which is determined by a pecularity in the blue channel.
What is the explanation for the difference between the two conversion from ProPhoto to sRGB?
The conversion engine is Adobe (the conversion immediately at receiving the image does not ask me for the engine).
http://www.panopeeper.com/Download/ProPhoto_to_sRGB_Discrepancy.tif contains three layers with the three versions.
http://www.panopeeper.com/Download/ProPhoto_to_sRGB_inProPhoto.tif is the unconverted, i.e. ProPhoto version.> I played around a bit with your samples and I could get close to your "Converted when receiving" version by using the Microsoft ICM engine (other options like Dither and Black point comp didn't produce big differences that I could see). Is it possible that is what you have as the engine in Edit>Color Settings?
As I posted, I am using the Adobe engine.
> I reproduced your exact steps (but in CS4), and there was no difference whatsoever between the three. Pitch black in difference blend mode.
I don't understand how you reproduced these steps. The file I uploaded is already in sRGB.
Anyway, I repeated the entire procedude carefully, the result is the same.
The raw file can be downloaded from http://www.panopeeper.com/Download/CCC_ISO0100_01208.ARW, the adjustment parameters are in http://www.panopeeper.com/Download/CCC_ISO0100_01208.xmp
With these files it is possible to repeate the entire process.
Pls note, that the conversion from raw to TIFF occured in 16bit mode, I converted the demo file to 8bit in order to reduce the size. -
Write diadem search results to text file
Is there a solution within DIAdem for exporting specific information from a search result into a text file? For example: I perform a search which returns all of the files, groups, and/or channels which I want to work with; now I would like to have, say, the file paths of all the results of my search exported to a text file. Is this possible? I could not find a direct way of doing this, but perhaps a script already exists for doing stuff like this?
Hi mrclary,
I did not have this code handy, but I was able to whip it up for you. Let me know if you have any questions.

Read number of XML nodes in a document& return result in text member
Hi all,
I wonder if you can help me with the following:
I want to read the number of nodes in an XML document and
return the result in a text cast member. This is what i am doing so
far, but it refuses to workHi Sean
This is the handler i created based on your suggestions.
Although it is working perfectly for some reson it creates one
extra end tag at the end of the xml file. Is there any way to fix
this?
global whichxml
on XMLscript2
GrQuestion = member("Gr_Questions").text
EnQuestion = member("questions_stage").text
re3 = "("&EnQuestion&")"
re4 = "(8859-1)"
global gFileIO
gFileIO = new(xtra "FileIO")
gFileIO =new (xtra "FileIO")
gFileIO.createFile("xml\"&whichxml&"" & ".xml")
gFileIO.openFile(the moviePath &
"xml\"&whichxml&"" & ".xml" , 0)
tXMLStr = gFileIO.readFile()
tXMLStr2= RegExp_Replace(tXMLStr, re4, "8859-7", "gi")
tXMLStr2= RegExp_Replace(tXMLStr2, re3,
""&GrQuestion&"", "gi") --replace with greek text
positiona= offset(re4,tXMLStr) --find the position of the
first character
setPosition(gFileIO,positiona)
writeString(gFileIO,tXMLStr2) --write the new string
gFileIO.closeFile()
gFileIO = VOID

Output required as formatted text (space delimited)
I need to get the output of a query in a strictly defined space delimited text format. Can anyone advise if that is directly possible in BIP? Currently the method I am using is that I have created an excel template specifying all the formats (column width, number format, etc.), then during runtime, I run the report, open it in excel (with macros disabled), do a "Save As" to save it as a .prn file (Formatted text file), then rename the prn file to .txt
This works although it is rather cumbersome. Any suggestions for simplifying the process?
Thanks
MSThanks Vetsrini, this is precisely what I was looking for. But somehow I am not able to fit things together. I made the rtf format and uploaded into BIP as etext template, but when I view, it doesn't say anything. I saw one of your earlier posts where you had replied to a member's similar query, you had told that there is some problem with the template. Is there any log on the server where the errors are logged?
And can you give the format for a simple query with just, say, 2 fields - empno and name (6 chars and 25 chars)? It would be great if you give the sample XML and the etext template. The one from the link you sent looks a bit complex.
Thanking you in anticipation.

Batch Script using System Varriable for Hostname and FQDN results in large space between
I have a batch script running on Windows 7 that I've created to help a physical computer, connect to his virtual cousin. Problem is when I try to make
it use the FQDN (required by the View Client) it puts a large space between the hostname and the domain.
Result
ECHO Connecting View Client to PREFIX-SERIAL .domain.comOR"C:\Program Files\VmWare\View.exe" -Args -serverURL PREFIX-SERIAL .domain.com
Our computers are named a combination of a prefix and the serial number. Our virtual computer names are the same, but with a different prefix. So my attempt was to make a connection
script, using the computer serial number. My Process:
Setting %serial% variable.
for /F "skip=1 tokens=*" %%b in ('wmic bios get serialnumber') do if not defined serial set serial=%%b
Set %hostname% variable.
set hostname=PREFIX-%serial%
Installation command line
"C:\Program Files\VmWare\View.exe" -Args -serverURL %hostname%.domain.com
That results in the output at the beginning of my post.
I've also tried
%hostname%.%userdomain%.com
PREFIX-%serial%.%userdomain%.com
PREFIX-%serial%.domain.com
SET FQDN=.domain.com
PREFIX-%serial%%FQDN%
%hostname%%FQDN%
I also tried carets and quotes on set commands without any improvement.
I'm sure I'm missing something simple here. Any advise?
There's no place like 127.0.0.1Will something like this get you what you are looking for?
(gwmi win32_bios).SerialNumber+(gwmi WIN32_ComputerSystem).Domain
Or
$hostname=(gwmi win32_bios).SerialNumber+"."+(gwmi WIN32_ComputerSystem).Domain
Sorry just realized your looking to do this in a Batch file...so maybe something like this
@echo off
for /F "skip=1 delims=" %%j in ('powershell "[System.Net.Dns]::GetHostByName((hostname)).HostName"') do (
set Host=%%j
goto :DONE
:DONE
echo %HOST% -
Captivate quiz results as text file
Is there a way to collect a users quiz results and simply write them to a text file on their hard drive?
Mike. This functionality doesn't currently exist in Captivate out of the box.
If you want it, you can try logging a feature request with Adobe.
Here's the official Adobe site:

Connecting two 27" iMacs via mini DisplayPort
Juz a thought. Wonder if possible. Since the 27-incher iMac does video input and output, instead of buying two 30" displays ($1799 each), might as well buy two of these 27" iMacs ($1999 each) and connect them via their mini DisplayPorts. Wonder if it
