Resultset view

hi Expert,
my environment is  mdm  5.5 and nw 7 portal.
our scenario is: we have to provide a  link(url) to external system, the link contains some parameters. the portal page should display records, which matches criterion specified in the url.
i found some info here
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/47/7cd017a7af17fae10000000a42189c/content.htm
i am trying to use "SetSearchHandler "
1. create web dynpro to extract the parameter from the url
2 fire event in web dynpro (is this right? what to put for the parameter of event fire api )
3. resultset iview subscribe the event and display records accordingly.
am i on the right direction?
any suggestion is appreciated.
Best regards,
John

Hi,
You can use SAP MDM Named Search for filtering the records as per certain search criteria.
Read more about it in standard SAP MDM Console Reference Guide or SAP MDM Data MAnager guide
www.service.sap.com/installmdm
This Named Search can then be used to expose data on Portal via - http://help.sap.com/javadocs/mdm/sp06/com/sap/mdm/search/NamedSearchSearchDimension.html
Thanks,
Shambhu.

  • New GeoRaptor release !

    Hello List,
    A new release of the GeoRaptor plugin is ready ! Version 20100524 is available for download on the project's sourceforge page : [http://sourceforge.net/projects/georaptor/] Update center : [Update Center|http://georaptor.sourceforge.net/install.xml]
    GeoRaptor is a SQLDeveloper plugin to view Oracle Spatial data and assist in creating/validating Spatial data and indexes.
    This current release (20100525) release includes these changes:
    - GeoRaptor now handles Tables/Views and Materialized Views.
    - Initiation of GeoRaptor functions can occur at the table or column level in the SQL Developer connection tree; (ie a GeoRaptor context menu has been added to the Columns of a table/view)
    - The way the sdo_geometry structure attribute is displayed has been re-written to handle xD data with slightly improved colouration (more to come).
    - There is now the ability to display an sdo_geometry attribute in a query result table as SDO_GEOMETRY/WKT/KML or GML2/GML3.
    - The dropping of a spatial index (for tables/materialized views) can now be done via a new context menu option.
    - The way the sdo_geometry data is displayed in the spatial view has been re-written. It will draw 2D, 3/4D (Z or M or both) data but only in 2D.
    - The way sdo_geom_metadata is handled and updated has been overhauled. Tables with multiple geometries can be dealt with in the one metadata panel.
    - Spatial indexing has been improved.
    - There is a Suffix/Prefix (called Affix) Tools>GeoRaptor>Preferences preferences for controlling its placement.
    - GeoRaptor can discover the layer_gtype parameter (from either all the data or from a sample).
    - Setting the sdo_indx_dims parameter can be done via a pulldown; as also whether the index is geodetic (tick box)
    - Setting the TABLESPACE parameters has also been added.
    - GeoRaptor can now be told to position a new table/sdo_geometry object (Add to Spatial View) in the spatial view at the top of the layer tree or at the bottom (Tools>Preferences>GeoRaptor)
    - The ability to move an existing layer in the spatial view to the the TOP or BOTTOM has been added via a right mouse click menu entry.
    - Similarly, you can now tell GeoRaptor where to put the layer list in the view: in the RIGHT or LEFT panel.
    - The position of the dividers in the spatial view now are trapped and saved.
    - The geometry spatial validation routines have been modified to allow for tolerance or diminfo based validation. Multiple geometries per table are handled. The user can now select their own primary key (including multiple columns) they would like to use in the output report.
    - GeoRaptor can now draw arrows at the midpoint of each segment in a linestring or just at the end.
    - GeoRaptor can process (ie visualise) data as STRUCT or JGeometry (a user preference controls this).
    - A comprehensive and flexible shapefile loading component has been added that handles multiple shapefiles, various attribute sets, changing of string attributes to numbers etc.
    Enhancements:
    - Code quality improvements are already being prepared.
    - The next release already has ready to go enhancements to the shapefile loader.
    - The ability to create (automatically) a single sdo_geom_metadata entry that covers all shapefiles in a shapefile set that is loaded into a single table.
    - Similarly a basic spatial index can be built at the end of a load run.
    - The ability to round the ordinate values read from each shapefile's X,Y, Z etc double precision ordinates. So, an shapefile X value of 234567.97456362839 can be written as 234567.975 if a decimal place rounding of 3 is chosen.
    - More options or colouring SDO_GEOMETRY data in a resultset;
    - Ability to colourize SDO_DIM_ARRAY, VERTEX_TYPE etc structures;
    - Support the mapping (add to spatial view) of a SQL query resultset (viewed currently only by styling the sdo_geometry attribute).
    - This will include the ability to select a subset of the resultset for visualisation, copying to clipboard, export (not just one at a time as in the current version). In fact, working with resultsets will become the main focus of how GeoRaptor will work in the future.
    - Add a new Spatial node to SQL Developer that collects up all tables etc with spatial data in one node (like Tables/Views/Materialized Views etc) so we can initiate action from there minimising mouse movement and increasing end user productivity.
    - Create a tool for discovering and removing stale sdo_geom_metadata records.
    - Support projections in the map view;
    - Support multiple independent map views (not just one);
    - Support WMS layers within the map view;
    - Provide spatial data export (shapefiles first);
    - Support limited visualisation of external shapefile data before loading eg to view to display with existing Oracle data.
    - Network topology visualisation and functionality;
    - Export functionality
    We encourage you to use GeoRaptor and discover its usefulness. We are spatial professionals who use SQL Developer every day in our business and consulting activities: we want the tool to make our lives easier and we hope they will do that for you too.
    However, we don't know how you use GeoRaptor and SQL Developer so we would love to hear your wishes for the product and the sorts of improvements would help you in your work and use: [Feature Requests|https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=158162&atid=806731]
    Like all software GeoRaptor is not perfect: the software contains bugs.
    Please help us in recognizing and fixing those bugs by reporting them : [Bug tracker|https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=158162&atid=806728]
    Now that we have a release out, we intend on making regular bug fix release and not just releases containing new functionality.
    The GeoRaptor team
    Edited by: Olaf I. on Jun 8, 2010 5:58 AM : a more comprehensive list of what's new !

    This release is really great. Simon uses the term "we" but he has probably done 99% of all the enhancements that have gone into this release.
    Thanks a lot for the effort Simon!!

    Hi Sujit,
    The log seems that connection is closed. Is it true? Did your system restarted?
    What happens if you close the studio, open it and try again?
    Are you using same revision Studio than the database?

  • Is there any provision to view the selected record using SYS_REFCURSOR?

    hi friends ,
    I was using SQL Server . now i am shifting to Oracle . so we are changing the Stored Procedures in SQLServer to Oracle SP's. I have given the structure of procedure given below . If possible , i want to see the output of select statement in the TOAD editor . If any body knows please help me
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE PS_AON
    P_STATUS OUT VARCHAR2,
    P_CUR OUT SYS_REFCURSOR
    AS
    BEGIN
    OPEN P_CUR FOR
              select colum1,column2,column3 from Table 1;
    EXCEPTION
                   WHEN OTHERS THEN
                   P_STATUS:=SQLERRM;
    END;
    This is one of the model of stored procedures i am using . And the editor i am using is TOAD 7.3.0 and oracle 9i. Is there any provision to view the selected records by running this procedure in TOAD editor
    thanks & regards

    (assuming you have relatively recent version of TOAD).
    Write a small block to call the procedure (or use Toad's 'execute procedure' option) as in the example below. Note the ':' in front of 'v_cur_out'. When you run the block, TOAD will prompt you for a value / datatype for 'v_cur_out'. Ignore the value, set the datatype to 'Cursor' and click OK. The resultset (if any) will be displayed in the Data Grid window below.
    DECLARE
       v_status VARCHAR2 (32767);
    BEGIN
       ps_aon (v_status, :v_cur_out);
       DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE ('v_status => ' || v_status);
    END;

    Thanks a lot.
    i replaced the code below
    if (rs != null)
                        try
                             rs.close();
                        catch (SQLException e)
                        rs = null;
                   if (rs1 != null)
                        try
                             rs1.close();
                        catch (SQLException e)
                        rs1 = null;
                   if (rs2 != null)
                        try
                             rs2.close();
                        catch (SQLException e)
                        rs2 = null;
                   if (rs3 != null)
                        try
                             rs3.close();
                        catch (SQLException e)
                        rs3 = null;
                   if (st != null)
                        try
                             st.close();
                        catch (SQLException e)
                        st = null;
                   if (pst != null)
                        try
                             pst.close();
                        catch (SQLException e)
                        pst = null;
    instead of blindly closing the resultsets and statements
    now it works fine.
    One more thing, is my code structurally correct, i mean the variables, try...catch blocks,results,statements,database connections and overall coding. whether it looks like professional code.
    thaks & regards,

  • Problem Generating a Report by passing a Resultset as a datasource

    I am having troubles generating a report using CR for Eclipse 2.0.
    I used the example that shows how do a simple select SQL query to the database and pass the resultset from the query to the report to generate a report from here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/201084dc-be66-2b10-64bf-dde4970c9b90
    I used a simple rpt file that simply shows the content of two columns from a table: TXN_TYPE_CD and TXN_STATUS_CD from a POLICY_TXN table.
    Using the code above, and just modifying it a bit to include my jdbc connection details as well as my select query, I was able to view the report which populated data from my database (Oracle 10g) at runtime of the application.  This test proved positive.
    However, the problem I am having is that I am trying to make this code into a Servlet for use in a Java EE application running on Websphere 6.1.0.17 using JVM 1.5.0_15  64-bit.  Instead of using the DHTML thick client, I export to PDF.  When I do this, the crystal report shows as a PDF, but the data is missing for some reason.  Only the headers for the two db columns are shown.  I don't see any startling differences between the code and am 100% positive that my resultset is being returned with data (I output the data returned in the result set as shown in the code).
    Here is the code I am using:
    public class CrystalReportGeneratorServlet_WOW extends Servlet {
         private static final long serialVersionUID = 768970549082466125L;
         protected HttpSession session;

                   //Look up existing table in the report to set the datasource for and obtain its alias.  This table must

                   //from a Field Definition File, a Command Object, or regular database table.  As long the Resultset
                   //schema has the same field names and types, then the Resultset can be used as the datasource for the table.

  • Comparing data in different resultsets

    Hi everybody!
    I am working on an web application involving some EAI, as a requirement i need to compare data from two different sources (databases to be precise) and fill a XML based on certain rules. I wish to know if there is a way to compare two ResultSet objects (with almost similar data) directly, or the only way to do is compare each value seperately.
    Also please suggest from efficiency point of view if its viable to store data from resultSet to a certain struc kind of object and then comparing, as it would involve lots of overhead compared to directly comparing the two resultsets.
    TIA
    Abhishek

    i have to compare various columns of each row and assign flags in output xml as to note if data is inconsistant, though i am taking measures so as to get the rows in the same order in both result sets, but the primary purpose of this comparison is indeed to check data integrity between both the sources.

  • How to get the last row in a resultset or query

    Hi All
    Say If I have a complex query which returns a resultset say 15 rows. Now I want to limit the output showing only the last row.
    How can we do this

    Keep in mind Oracle does not keep "row" order as such. Unlike a graphical type db like Access, Oracle will not always give you back the results in order.
    Even if you were to use a sequence, your query is never guaranteed to give back the results in the order you are expecting. You must then give an order by statement to all queries expecting the order.
    Your definition of last row too is vague - if it is in fact the greatest amount, use the inline view suggestion. If you simply want to see the last inserted row, consider adding a last_update_date column inserting the sysdate (by a trigger perhaps). This would then allow you to see the last inserted row.
    Enjoy!

  • View Link on two programmatic view objects

    Hello,
    I use Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.1.0_GENERIC_090615.0017.5407
    I have two programmatic View Objects with data from other sources (an ArrayList in my example).
    Now I would like to create a View Link on it. How can I do this?
    I'm quite new on Java and ADF...
    I know it is possible because I already found Steve's example 132 here [http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/|http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/]
    But could somebody create a simple example based on my example classes below (which is understandable for a newbie like me ;-) ?

    Rolf,
    I guess when we try to do it for you, we end up with almost the sample code provided by Steve Muench.
    So there from my point of view it doesn't make sense to do it all over.
    Take some time and study the sample code, run it without changes and after that try some changes which suits your use case better.
    If you don't understand what's going on in the sample post the question here and we try to help you.

  • View Links for Programmatic View Objects

    Hi All,
    I created a read only VO called MyVO based on a sql query.
    I created 2 programmatic view objects, MasterView and ChildView.
    In a custom method in AMImpl class ,I iterate through this MyVO resultset and get the rows in a Row object.
    Based on some attributes values of the Row, I populate both master and child View Objects.
    I have created a view link between Master and Child Programmatic View Objects and have exposed them in AM.
    Now I run the AM, and run the method exposed in client interface.
    Now I click on my master and child programmatic views.
    I see that the rows are populated in both of these programmatic VOs.
    But when I click on viewlink which I have exposed under master, it doesnt show me any
    record for child.
    This is my method of AMImpl which is exposed in AM client interface.
    public void constructLines(){
    ViewObject vo= this.getMyVO1();
    ViewObject master=this.getTransientVO1();
    ViewObject child=this.getTransientLineVO1();
    Row r,masterRow,childRow;
    int count=0;
    while(vo.hasNext()){
    ++count;
    r=vo.next();
    masterRow = master.createRow();
    if(r.getAttribute("QuoteHeaderId")!=null)
    masterRow.setAttribute("QuoteHeaderId",
    r.getAttribute("QuoteHeaderId").toString());
    if(r.getAttribute("QuoteLineId")!=null)
    masterRow.setAttribute("QuoteLineId",
    r.getAttribute("QuoteLineId").toString());
    if(r.getAttribute("LineNumber")!=null)
    masterRow.setAttribute("LineNumber",
    r.getAttribute("LineNumber").toString());
    master.insertRow(masterRow);
    childRow= child.createRow();
    if(r.getAttribute("RefLineId")!=null)
    childRow.setAttribute("RefLineId",
    r.getAttribute("QuoteLineId").toString());
    if(r.getAttribute("QuoteHeaderId")!=null)
    childRow.setAttribute("QuoteHeaderId",
    r.getAttribute("QuoteHeaderId").toString());
    child.insertRow(childRow);
    This is stopping me from my development progress.
    Any suggestion to solve this will be of great help.
    Thanks,
    Prabhanjan

    Hi..
    have you define relationship correctly between masterVO and childVO.sometime there may be the problem.

    I have the same error. It can be solved by adding a xercesImpl jar to the classpath.But aren't Java5&6 supposed to have an implementation included?--nodje

  • How to allow a user to view records belonging to them only...!

    Hi guys,
    I have a login page written in jsp. When users login, the login servlet check for username and password, then it takes them to a main page. From the main page, users can decide to view all the records that they have already submitted by clicking on the "view" button.
    So far, right now when users click on that "view" button, they are able to view all the records in the database and that's not what I want. I want users to only view the records they have submitted.
    Does anyone know how to do...??
    Thanks...

    Yeah...right...
    public void doGet (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
                 throws ServletException, IOException {
               String username = request.getParameter("username");
               String password = request.getParameter("password");
               if (login (request, response, username, password)) {
                    response.sendRedirect("/WepApplication/Files.jsp");
            public void doPost (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
                throws ServletException, IOException {
               doGet(request, response);
            public boolean login (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response, String user, String password)
            throws ServletException, IOException{
               try {
                  Statement statement = connection.createStatement();
                  String sql = "SELECT userID, login FROM User" + " WHERE login='" + user + "'" + " AND pass='" + password + "'";
                  ResultSet resultSet = statement.executeQuery(sql);
                  if (resultSet.next()) {
                      int userId = resultSet.getInt(1);
                      String id = Integer.toString(userId);
                      HttpSession session = request.getSession();
                      session.setAttribute("user", id);
                      System.out.println("user is = " + session.getAttribute("user"));
                     resultSet.close();
                     statement.close();
                     return true;
                  resultSet.close();
                  statement.close();
               } catch (SQLException e) {
                  System.out.println (e.toString());
               } catch (Exception e) {
                  System.out.println (e.toString());
               return false;
            }

  • How do I find out the number of rows in a resultset ?

    Without scrolling it.

    And explain to me, oh sarcastic one, how it wouldn't be a better idea to put that data into a datastructure and pass that back.1. Performance with very large ResultSet objects for which only sparse data is desired (that's what pages are for).
    2. Resource optimization.
    3. Efficient sequential processing.
    4. The ability to intelligently determine based on resource usage whether to page the results or use your implementation for small ResultSet objects.
    Answering your points:
    1. I just showed him a very easy way to get the size.
    2. I don't see any advantage of a collection (if that's what you were envisioning) over a paged ResultSet. Actually the ResultSet is a collection of sorts.
    3. Your data is reliant on the connection initially anyway. The collection would only provide an advantage in the possibly short window while the data was being viewed.
    4. You can always resort a ResultSet by requerying.
