Retreive an element from Set

according to java tutor. about Set
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/util/Set.html
there is no method to return an element in specified index, like that in List: get(int index)
how can we return such element?

> how can we return such element?
You can iterate over a Set.and if you're real desperate you can do:
List list = new ArrayList(set)

  • Emergency!! How to remove elements from a set? or..?

    How do I remove elements from a Set?
    If I have Set s1and s2, I want to create a new set which consist of all elements in s1 but not in the s2.
    Which means, I have to s1.union(s2) and then remove elements of s2.
    Is there any method which has this function (remove elment from a set)?
    Or is there any other better way to solve this (which doesn't have to remove anything)?
    If not, how to design a method which will do this job?
    Your help will be very much appreciated.

    Hi
    you can use method removeAll() from set
    s1.removeAll(s2);
    so s1 contains all the element not in s2.
    If you want to lef s1 unmodifyed you have to create a copy.
    Set s3 = s1.clone();
    s3.ramoveAll(s2);

  • Set file name with XSLT - receiver channel - elements from XML?

    Dear experts,
    I have an XSLT mapping for a message that is sent via a receiver channel to a customer.
    The customer wants a certain file name which is put toghether by elements from the XML message.
    I have looked at:
    Re: Java Map for writing the file
    The java code and the XSLT work perfectly!
    In the line
    fos = new FileOutputStream(new File("Fixed_" + new Date().getTime() + ".xml"));
    a fixed value, date and time are used for the file name.
    But I need some values from the XML message to create my name. But how do I do that? Can I somehow get values from the XML message through that java function or do I have to adapt the XSLT?
    Can someone please help me!
    Thank you,
    Peter

    Hi Udo, Hello experts,
    Now I do have a problem. I am using this XSL file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
      xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
      xmlns:map="java:java.util.Map"
      xmlns:dyn="java:com.sap.aii.mapping.api.DynamicConfiguration"
      xmlns:key="java:com.sap.aii.mapping.api.DynamicConfigurationKey">
    <xsl:output indent="no" />
    <xsl:param name="inputparam"/>
    <xsl:template match="/">
        <!-- change dynamic configuration -->
        <xsl:variable name="dynamic-conf"
            select="map:get($inputparam, 'DynamicConfiguration')" />
        <xsl:variable name="dynamic-key"
            select="key:create('http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File', 'FileName')" />
        <xsl:variable name="dummy"
            select="dyn:put($dynamic-conf, $dynamic-key, 'TOOLDATA_.xml')" />
      <xsl:copy-of select="." />
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    But then the output file is only named "TOOLDATA_.xml". So I assume the XSL is working.
    And I am using this Java-file:
    package pi_mappings;
    import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.*;
    import java.io.*;

  • LDAP : retreive the password from LDAP

    Hi,
    I am trying to authenticate the user with the password that is entered by him with the password in LDAP. Basically i have to do a String comparison. I am able to retreive all the attributes set for that user but the password is retrieved as:
    [B@867e89
    I did a toString() for that but no change.
    String s=attr.get().toString();I even tried to convert this String to a byte and then compare:
    byte[] newUnicodePassword=null;
                                 try {
                                       newUnicodePassword = s.getBytes("UTF-16LE");
                                       System.out.println("Checking 2  :" + newUnicodePassword.toString());
                                  } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) {
                                       // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                                       e.printStackTrace();
                                  }But of no use.When i converted this byte array to a string it is the same encrypted characters.
    So i could not compare with the password that is entered by the user.
    Can anyone please tell why this is happening. And how i have to get the password from LDAP.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Best way to retreive an attributeValue from the bindings in a backing bean?

    What is the best way to retreive a value from an interator in your data bindings inside a backing bean?
    I can come up with a way were i resolve the value of an expression like #{bindings.myAttribute.value}
    Is this the best way or is there an easier?
    I can also place a hidden inputField were i bind the value to the attribute in my bindings and set the bindings of the input field to my backing so i can just call the .getValue in my backing bean...

    Yannick
    What is the best way to retreive a value from an interator in your data bindings inside a backing bean? Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 I created an example application
    at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/Thread1665841AttributeValuesApp-v0.01.zip
    It illustrates the behaviour for 3 different approaches to get an attribute value in a managed bean:
    public class WithAttributeValues
      public int getMyIdFromEL()
        return (Integer)ELHelper.get("#{bindings.myId.inputValue}");
      public int getMyIdFromAttributeBinding()
        BindingContainer vBindingContainer =
           BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
        ControlBinding vControlBinding = vBindingContainer.getControlBinding("myId");
        AttributeBinding vAttributeBinding = (AttributeBinding)vControlBinding;
        return (Integer)vAttributeBinding.getInputValue();
      public int getMyIdFromIterator()
        BindingContainer vBindingContainer =
           BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
        DCBindingContainer vDCBindingContainer = (DCBindingContainer)vBindingContainer;
        DCIteratorBinding vDCIteratorBinding =
           vDCBindingContainer.findIteratorBinding("findSomeMyRowsIterator");
        Row vRow = vDCIteratorBinding.getCurrentRow();
        return (Integer)vRow.getAttribute("myId");
    }For some reason the approach using getMyIdFromIterator() does not behave as intended when navigating the current row.
    see screencast at http://www.screencast.com/t/nIJ3DpsNE9Y
    Maybe John Stegeman can explain why that is because it is basically the same approach as he suggested in this forum thread.
    But if you don't have an attribute binding because you only use the iterator... Is it an option to create an attributeValue and bind it to the iterator so you can use it in your backing bean that way? Based on my findings above, using attributeValues bindings seems to be preferable.
    or is it only possible when you realy have an inputField bound to the attributeValue? The example application in Thread1665841AttributeValuesApp-v0.01.zip does not have any af:inputText components.
    Your question about "the best way" made me wonder if that wouldn't require JSR 227 API, so I posted that question in another forum thread, "How to get an attribute value using JSR 227 API ?"
    at How to get an attribute value using JSR 227 API ?

  • Place an element from library to document

    I know the name of library and name of element. How can my script place an element from library to document at any location?

    You have to go through a bit of a song and dance. First, you must make sure there's no text selection active at the time, then you must move the item from wherever it lands to where you want it.
    So, something like this:
    app.select(null);
    var myObj = theAsset.placeAsset(myDoc)[0];
    and then you can move it to the right place on the page (you might even have to move it to the right page first -- although you can probably control that by setting the activePage first:
    app.activeWindow.activePage = myPage;

    is this (romoving elment from a list) possible to be done using only jstl

    No, it is not possible.
    JSTL is for use on JSP pages.
    JSP pages are meant for "display"
    You sound like you are doing processing - this sort of stuff more properly belongs in a java class.

  • JDOM "IllegalStateException: Root element not set" when reading file

    Hello, I am relatively new to XML. I am trying to read an xml document to parse some information out of it. I basically have a large amount of data I want to load into my program. I could program it all in as static arrays, but I thought xml would be easier, and make changes easier.
    I am trying to use JDOM, and have the project set up. My problem is when I read the document, it always gives a root element not set exception. Here is my xml file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <root>
        Contents
    </root>Very basic, I'm using this to get things started. Here is my code for reading it:
            SAXBuilder sb = new SAXBuilder();
            Document d = new Document();
            try {
                sb.build(new File("test1.xml"));
            catch (JDOMException jdome) {
                System.err.println(jdome);
            catch (IOException ioe) {
                System.err.println(ioe);
            d.getContent();Whenever I try to do anything with the contents of the Document, like d.getContent(), it always throws a java.lang.IllegalStateException: Root element not set. It reads the file successfully (as far as I can tell), but it's like the xml file is empty. I can't find anything on the web about this problem, and every tutorial says to do exactly what I've done, but never mention any possible problem. It can find the file, and I can write to an xml file as in other tutorials, but reading one in is a problem.
    I chose JDOM because it seemed simplest for just reading in a large amount of data and parsing it out into variables. This is a very simple project, so I don't want to spend a lot of time writing xml parsing code, I'm only using xml because it will probably be easier than hard coding the data. Would a different xml api be easier to use for my purposes?

  • Results analysis: any way to exclude certain cost element from calculation?

    Hi everyone!
    We are implementing Results Analysis for projects. But the client is asking if there is a way to exclude some cost elements of the results analysis calculation. We are using method 07, POC based in the project milestones.
    This is why they need this. They say that very often they they have costs higher to what they should be according to the month's billing. So they need to send the corresponding part to a WIP account. But not all the costs. They have internal costs (like the hours of internal resources) and external costs (like materials procurement or external services contracts). They only want to send to WIP the exceeding external costs. But leave all the internal costs in a cost account. So to do this we need to exclude these kind of cost elements (secondary cost elements) from the results analysis calculation. Is there any way to do this? Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Thalos.

    Hi,
    In OKG4, next to Line ID there is a field where you can set "N" which means not to include. Make this settinng for required cost elements / Line ID's and then test the changes.

  • How do I remove an identical background / common element from a series of layers/images.

    Hello and good day,
    I have found dozens of articles on how to remove the uncommon items from a series of near identical photos, for instance removing tourists from a series of shots using Scripts -> Statistics...
    What I am trying to do is the exact opposite of this.
    I would like to compare a series of frames, and remove all common elements from them; leaving only differences.  I figured I would be able to use the statistics script to get the common background, then somehow compare it to each frame and remove the common background.  Basically doing a reverse green screen when I am removing the background instead of adding it.
    I have Adobe Master Collection CS6.
    Regards,
    Jeffrey Taylor

    That sounds like something AstroPhotographers might use.  We have an expert here, but I believe he is kind of busy right now, but he might happen along.
    Otherwise, I don't know how to do a reverse Median effect.  You can do it with two layers by aligning and setting the top layer blend mode to Difference, but identical features go black.  You'd have to make a luminosity mask from that frame and apply it to a layer mask to leave the people after returning the layer mode to normal.    But I can't think how to do it with a lot of frames together.

  • Reading an integer size element from file

    Hello, I need some help for reading an integer size element from a file. In C++ there is the function fread with the following signature size_t fread(void ptr, size_t size, size_t nitems, FILE stream); where size is the size of one of the elements. Using this function in c++, you can read an integer by setting size = sizeof(int). I need this function because I am writing in a file a lot of integers and characters without any separator and I need to take the first element which is always an integer. Here is an example:
    I have: int x = 234; String y = "12ABC". I write those two elements in an output file. Now, when reading from that file the content of the file is: 23412ABC and I need to take the two elements x and y.
    Can anyone help ?

    I see what you mean but the problem is a bit more complicated, maybe I did not explain well. I need to copy data in a text file and retrieve them. Most data that will be written in the file are stored in an char array. those data may contain digits, letters, special characters... depending on their ASCII code. But before writting that char array, I need to write an integer corresponding to a specific index and I have no way of predicting the number of digits of that integer. So for example, my char array contains the following data: {'1','2','3','a','b','c'} and my int equals 10000. Using FileWriter I write the int and then the char array using the method myfile.write with its arguments. Next step, I want now to read from myfile.txt the data that I wrote in the first step. I start reading the int then using myfile.read(mychararray, 0, 6) /*6 being the size of the bloc to be read*/ I read the remaining characters and store each char in a cell of mychararray. The problem with this, is that using the method .read I can not read the first integer since I don't know its size: it may contain 1, 2 or even more digits.
    I know that storing everything in bytes would make my task easier, but I necessarily need to store an array of characters and then use .read method to store the content of the file (after having read the int of course) in a char array. Last clarification, the step of writing int then char array is reproduced n times before calling myfile.close();
    I hope it is clearer than before. Any suggestion for this problem would be welcome.
