Retreiving data corresponding to dropdown list.

hii all,
i want to know that if i have to make one application where there is a dropdown list with several parameters and if i select one parameter and retrieve the data corresponding to that parameter, then i select second parameter and retreive the data. now there r two possibilities.
FIRST, i can make one syncBO for all parameters and storing data corresponding to all parameter on the PDA and when i select one parameter it will fetch the data from client database corresponding to that parameter(All the data corresponding to all parameters will be stored on the PDA database irrespective of selected parameter. is it true).
SECOND, i can make different syncBO for all parameters and after every parameter selection it will fetch the data from MI server through synchronization
and is it possible to synchronize the client with the MI server every time a new parameter is selected automatically.
And plz let me know what i m thinking is true in technical aspect or not and what will be the best way to do the same.

I'm not a guru, but I would say : your jdbc isn't working. Make sure that it's functioning properly.
The errormesages suggest that the application can not find the datasource.

Data in dropdown list field are empty in PDF form

Hi all.
Viewing a pdf form created with SAP interactive Forms offline method, the data in the dropdown list field are empty.
The data in the dropdown list field are generated by xml file produced by an abap report.
The problem occurs opening the form with Adobe Reader 8.1 or higher. Using Adobe Reader release 7.0.9 everything is ok.
Do you have any suggestion?

Hi Otto,
the only release of Adobe Reader that work is 7.0.9. Release 8.1 and 9 have the same problem where the data in the dropdown list field are empty.
At the end of the trace file in Adobe Reader 9.0.3 I find this error message:
"Invalid version: The current version of the XFA template model exceeds the capability of Acrobat / Adobe Reader 7.0.5."
The form has been created using Adobe Lifecycle Design 7.1.
Any idea?

Being new to ABAP, I am trying my hands on Dropdownlist box on Module Pool.
I want to pull data from Ztable(Custom Table) into Dropdown list box on Screen in Module pool and be able to edit it, delete it and enter new data through it, thus thereby able to manage the Ztable. Is it possible in dropdown.

The I/O field Drop down list box is on the Screen in my Module Pool. I am able to pull data in it from Ztable but now I want to edit this pulled data and also want to enter new data in this dropdown list box.

You can create one input text field and make it visible when a user choses non billable option in dropdown 1, using -
<this>.presence = "visible";
when billable is chosen from dropdown 1, I can think of two ways.
- Since you have binding 'billable' options with second dropdown, make it visible when billabile option is chosen.
- you can also populate the second dropdown using javascript (something like dependent dropdowns) when billable option is chosen.

How can I populate a dropdown list

I am trying to build a dropdown list dependant on another dropdown list
Once a selection is made in dropdown list 1:
Only items associated with that selection are populated in dropdown list 2 AND
populates text field 1 with the data selected in dropdown list 1
Once dropdown list 2 selection is made:
populates a text field 2 with the data selected in dropdown list 2
Anybody know how this can be done?

The idea is that you can read in data from an external or attached file, but it will need to be a different format such as XML, tab-delimited text, or CSV, which can all be exported from a spreadsheet.

Defaulting value of Dropdown List to the first value of a BI Query

In my VC application I have a form containing a dropdown list to be used as selection criteria for other data. The dropdown list is dynamically populated by a BI Query. When I run the application, the dropdown list is correctly populated with the values returned by the linked query. However, on initial load of the iView, the default value of the dropdown list is blank. The requirement is for the first item returned by the linked query to display as the default value.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to achieve this requirement.

Hi Mustafa,
I checked your requirement but it is not possible to display first value as default value for a drop down list because the list will be generate when you click the drop down list. You can use a 'list box' instead of drop down list.

Add multiple entries to dropdown list without using data dictionary

Hi,
By default when we use a data dictionary element for dropdown list, all the possible values are listed in the dropdown. However when no data dictionary element is used for the dropdown list, it behaves like a parameter with a single line.
I would like to know if it is possible to not use the data dictionary element and still have multiple lines in the dropdown.

How to extract data from xml field to dropdown list?

Hi,
I have designed a form and connected to a SQL server database using a web service. The XML data retrieved from wsdl connection is currently hold in a text field called 'XMLfield'. I need to extract the data such as 'PersonnelName' from XMLfield into a dropdown list. I used the following code and I do not get any error, but nothing come up and all my fields in the forms become bank when i click the dropdown list.
I would appreciate it if anyone can help me with this issue.

Hi Roya,
I think the loadXML will override your form data, so blanking out your fields. You could try loading the xml data at the xfa.datasets level (that is xfa.datasets.loadXML(form1.XMLfield.rawValue,0,1);) or using E4X to process the XML.
Another option though might be more rework is to use the Acrobat SOAP api which will return you a JavaScript object so you wont have to do any XML work.

Data Table will not bind to Dropdown List selection

I get the following error when I try to use my own database tables (As in the "Using Databound Components to Access Databases" tutorial). It is a Oracle9i database. The Table (Vehicle)I use to populate the Dropdown List has around 450 000 rows, and the ComponentRowset returns 362 000 rows when run without a parameter.

Take a look at the Page1 constructor.
It appears that you're trying to bind the datatable to 2
different rowsets. I suggest to clean up this
constructor to make sure you're using the right
rowset.
Your value binding expressions on each column
of the datatable may not be set to the right column.

Change the data of a gallery witn a dropdown list

Hello,
I hope someone can help me.
I have a gallery in my app. And on top a dropdown list with 8 different texts.
I also have 8 rss feeds. Now I want that the gallery change the rss when I change the dropdown.
Is that possible?
Can someone help and say what I have to do?

To date you cannot dynamically change datasources from a gallery to my knowledge. However to make your scenario work you can do the following
Go to the tips and tricks (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f8cc7f2f-21bc-4ecb-91b2-622f40a5cbd3/from-the-community-tips-and-tricks?forum=projectsiena) and
look at
Combining multiple feeds in a single gallery (processed with REST)
And then based on the dropdown add a filter (http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn690139)
Depending on the loading times and the volumes in the rss feeds you may experience some slowing down.
You can create your supercollection in the OnVisible behavior of your screen.
You can also work with a collection of collections but that's a bit trickier to manipulate the data.

Get back dropdown list data.

Hi all,
I am adding a new customer screen into transaction code ME21N. I managed to see the new tab Customer Data created, I have also created a dropdown list in the screen with data for example, Text 1, Text 2, Text 3.
My problem now is whenever I selected the dropdown list to Text2, I go tab Delivery/Invoice, and come back to tab Customer Data, the dropdown list data is blank. How could I set the dropdown list data and display the selected data whenever I come back to Customer Data?

How to display that much of records in dropdown list.
I am trying to print ,it takes lot of time for single user.
is there any alternative for that.

of course it will take time for the client computer to parse your html.. what you will do is to split you record by hundreds.. you have to consider your clients machine.. not all client has fast computers

Referencing the text in a Dropdown List

I would like to know if it is possible to reference the text of the selected item of a Dropdown List. The scenario is as follows:
I have a dropdown list in a form which is used to select profit centres. The dropdown list's Entry List consists of the Profit Centre Code as the VALUE and the Profit Centre Description as the corresponding TEXT. I would like to reference the TEXT of the selected item in a formula for building a dynamic string that includes the Profit Centre Description plus other data, for informational display purposes in a Plain Text control. However, it seems that only the VALUE of the dropdown list can be referenced in a formula and not the TEXT.
Is this a limitation of Visual Composer?

I'm not clear about your proposed solution. In the reference "#ID|ACA1EO|@DL_Division", "#ID|ACA1EO|" is the ID of the form which contains the Dropdown list and "DL_Division" is the name of the Dropdown list control itself. When referenced in this way, the VALUE of the selected item is always returned. However, I would like to determine the TEXT of the corresponding selected item and there doesn't appear to be a method to do this.
Can you provide more details for your proposed solution?
