Retrieving a table attribute on row selection

Hi All,
     In my table display i need to select the 1st attribute of the row (first attribute is item_id) which is selected and then want to retrieve this value.How do i achieve this.Kindly help.
Thanks n regards,
Urbashi

hi urbashi......
             you can get the selected value by lead selection.
ie you want the first column that has been selected...
   just read the first column of the node using code wizard.
   it will give the selected value....

  • How to dynamically display the data from a table base on row selection of another table in ADF

    Hi ,
    I have a requirement in ADF. I need to change the data of a table  based on row selection of another Table . Both the table have a Parent Child relationship between them. They have a common attribute say department_id.
                                                                                         For this I created bind variable in view object of employees table and wrote a where clause in the sql query using that bind variable. Then I created method for selection listener of department Table in java bean.
    My method is following
        public void onrowselection(SelectionEvent selectionEvent) {
            RichTable richTable = (RichTable)selectionEvent.getSource();
                            CollectionModel tableModel = (CollectionModel)richTable.getValue();
                            JUCtrlHierBinding adfTableBinding = (JUCtrlHierBinding)tableModel.getWrappedData();
                            Object selectedRowData = richTable.getSelectedRowData();
                            JUCtrlHierNodeBinding nodeBinding = (JUCtrlHierNodeBinding)selectedRowData;
                    oracle.jbo.domain.Number newVal = (oracle.jbo.domain.Number) nodeBinding.getAttribute("DepartmentId");
                    Number pallet = newVal.bigDecimalValue();
                    System.out.println("Selected values " + pallet);
            BindingContext bindingctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
                          BindingContainer bindings = bindingctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
                          DCBindingContainer bindingsImpl = (DCBindingContainer) bindings;
                  DCIteratorBinding dciter = bindingsImpl.findIteratorBinding("EmployeesView1Iterator");//access the iterator by its ID value in the PageDef file
                          ViewObject vo =dciter.getViewObject();
                          vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("DepartmentId", pallet);//enter your value
                          vo.executeQuery();
    It is printing the selected value of department id from department table in the log. But it is not able to pass the value to employees view. It is showing the following error in the log
    "Definition DepartmentId of type Variable is not found in EmployeesView1."
    I will be very thankful if someone helps me to solve this errror or is there any other way to achieve the same requirement.
    Thanks
    Nilesh

    Note quite sure why you simply wont create a viewlink for the viewobject the tables are based on..
    The viewlink attribute will be based on the departmentId and it's a simple master detail relationship which automatically uses ppr.
    However, if both tables are on the same page; using your hack about;
    On the underlying viewobject, define a viewcriteria e.g. "listById" and set your bind variable here.
    I would bind table two to a RichTable component:
    RichTable t2;
    public void onrowselection(SelectionEvent selectionEvent) {
            RichTable richTable = (RichTable)selectionEvent.getSource();
                            CollectionModel tableModel = (CollectionModel)richTable.getValue();
                            JUCtrlHierBinding adfTableBinding = (JUCtrlHierBinding)tableModel.getWrappedData();
                            Object selectedRowData = richTable.getSelectedRowData();
                            JUCtrlHierNodeBinding nodeBinding = (JUCtrlHierNodeBinding)selectedRowData;
                    oracle.jbo.domain.Number newVal = (oracle.jbo.domain.Number) nodeBinding.getAttribute("DepartmentId");
                    Number pallet = newVal.bigDecimalValue();
                    System.out.println("Selected values " + pallet);
                   refreshTable2(pallet);
            BindingContext bindingctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
                          BindingContainer bindings = bindingctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
                          DCBindingContainer bindingsImpl = (DCBindingContainer) bindings;
                  DCIteratorBinding dciter = bindingsImpl.findIteratorBinding("EmployeesView1Iterator");//access the iterator by its ID value in the PageDef file
                          ViewObject vo =dciter.getViewObject();
                          vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("DepartmentId", pallet);//enter your value
                          vo.executeQuery();
    private void refreshTable2(Number pallet){
    RichTable x=getT2();
    CollectionModel cm=(CollectionModel)x.getValue();
    JUCtrlHierBinding jcb=(JUCtrlHierBinding)cm.getWrappedData();
    BindingContainer bindings = bindingctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCBindingContainer bindingsImpl = (DCBindingContainer) bindings;
    DCIteratorBinding dciter = bindingsImpl.findIteratorBinding(jcb.getName()+"Iterator");
    ViewObject vo =dciter.getViewObject();
    ViewCriteriaManager vcm=vo.getViewCriteriaManager();
    ViewCriteria vc=vcm.getViewCriteria("listById");
    vo.applyViewCriteria(vc);
    vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("DepartmentId",pallet);
    vo.executeQuery();
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(getT2());

  • How to avoid table refresh on row selection

    Hi,
    I have a table where the row selection happens on selecting the check box in the first column of the row. The check box is bound to the transient Boolean attribute of my VO to support this functionality which is missing in new version of ADF. The selection is working fine, however I am facing the issue with table refresh. Everytime I click checkbox to select or unselect a row my whole table is getting refreshed which is very unusual for user point of view. This is my code for the checkbox column:
    <af:column sortProperty="isSelected" sortable="true"
    headerText="#{bindings.pricingObjects.hints.isSelected.label}"
    id="c4"
    inlineStyle='#{(row.isSelected)?"background-color: #E7E7E7":""};'>
    <af:selectBooleanCheckbox value="#{row.bindings.isSelected.inputValue}"
    required="#{bindings.pricingObjects.hints.isSelected.mandatory}"
    shortDesc="#{bindings.pricingObjects.hints.isSelected.tooltip}"
    id="it4" simple="true"
    autoSubmit="true">
    <f:validator binding="#{row.bindings.isSelected.validator}"/>
    </af:selectBooleanCheckbox>
    I have to keep autoSubmit="true" on selectBooleanCheckbox because the table has to change color of the row everytime the checkbox is selected or deselected. Also, there are multiple commandToolbarButton such as "Delete" which needs to be enabled/disabled depending on the row selection.
    Is there anyway, I can achieve this behaviour with minimal refresh of table?

    Hi Marge,
    Yes I do have Add and Delete toolbar button in the panelCollection and also set partialTrigger="tableId" on them. I need this partialTriggers because Delete button should enable/disable depending on number of rows added in the table. However, I tried removing them but it did not work for me, table is still refreshing. BUT this solution does work in combination of other solution i.e. removing ChangeEventPolicy="ppr" on the iterator. I need ppr because I have a form which is bound to the same iterator and should change on table selection. The design is like this,
    - Read-only Table on top
    - Editable Form below
    - Select the row in table and edit the fields in the form
    If I remove ppr then my form is not updating with the row selection.

  • Table- Why first row Selected from itself

    Hi,
    i have a jspx that have some fields and a button ,
    the user should fill this fields with data then click the button
    the button pass those values to a function that call a Stored Proceudre in the DB
    then the last code in that button is to refresh a table (by execute param) that read the inserted data
    why everytime the table refreshed give me the data with the first row SELECTED!!!!!!!!
    i am using ADFBC + JSF
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
    hope you handled the case where a user hits submit - or performs some other action that is performed on the current row - because you are now in an unpredictable state. Ideally you disable all related command buttons until a user selects a row

  • How to disable first row selection in a table

    Hi,
    I have three tables which have master child relationship. I need to enable a button for each table based on row selection of corresponding table.But first row is being selected automatically and the buttons are enabled.
    what should i do in order to avoid first row selection in a table.I tried by removing selected Row Keys.But still i am getting the same problem.can anyone suggest on this.
    Thank You,
    Sukumar

    I know a hack but I don't recommend it, anyway here it goes:
    Remove selected Row Keys
    Change selectionListener from the default and create a custom action listener (You can call the default one inside of it) (Tip: use makeCurrent function in this PDF
    This will make sure that there is no selected row highlighted for the first time, but it actually means that the first row is selected, it's just not shown.
    This method is tested with 11.1.1.7

  • Row Selected in a table

    Hi,
    I have a table on a view of my dynpro and by default the first row is selected.
    How I can show my table without any row selected?
    Tks a lot.

    Hi,
    In your view go to the method WDDOMODIFYVIEW and use the following code to deselect the row.
    DATA: o_node_output_data     TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
      o_node_output_data = wd_context->get_child_node( name = '<context table name>' ).
      o_node_output_data->set_lead_selection_index( o_node_output_data->no_selection ).
    Let me know if that works.

  • Reg Row Selection in a Table

    Hi All,
    I am facing a problem with row selection in a table. When I navigate from one screen to another in my application, the selected rows in the previous screen should be populated in the table in the next screen.
    If I have to use checkboxes inside the table for multiple row selection, how could I populate the table in the next screen with all the selected rows of the table from the previous screen.
    Also, is it possible to select multiple rows in a table without using checkboxes, and by selecting the "selection mode" of table as "multi", so that initially when the page is loaded no record (row) should be selected automatically.
    Please help me regarding this.
    Regards,
    Murthy.

    Hi,
    As Armin suggested you can use the inbuilt multiselection property of the table.
    For populating the selected values in a table in second view
    First view Context structure
    -EmpDetails (Table node) (cardinality 0..n,selection 0..n,intializeleadSelection - false)
    ---EmpID (table column)
    ---Name  (table column)
    Second View Context structure
    -DispalySelected (Table node)-EmpDetails (Table node) (cardinality 0..n,intializeleadSelection - false)
    --- ID(table column)
    --- Name(table column)
    create a navigation link form first view to second view
    In the InBoundPlug of second view
        wdContext.nodeDisplaySelected().invalidate();
        for(int i=0;i<wdContext.nodeEmpDetails().size();i++)
             if(wdContext.nodeEmpDetails().isMultiSelected(i))
                   IPrivateDisplayView.IDisplaySelectedElement ele = wdContext.nodeDisplaySelected().createDisplaySelectedElement();
                   wdContext.nodeDisplaySelected().addElement(ele);
                   ele.setID(wdContext.nodeEmpDetails().getEmpDetailsElementAt(i).getEmpID());
                   ele.setName(wdContext.nodeEmpDetails().getEmpDetailsElementAt(i).getName());
    <b>For multiselecting you have to use Ctrl tab</b>

  • Keep view in row selected in the table

    Hello,
    i have a webdynpro view with a table. This table has 256 records, and visibleRowCount property is set to 10 records.
    My problem is when i selected the record number 174 for example, the scroll table returns to position 1 and i can not see the record selected.
    How can i do for the scroll table keep the row selected in the table?
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Try this.
    1. create one context ctx_va_firstvisblerow.
    2.get the leadselection record and set ctx_va_firstvisblerow context.write this code in wdDoModifyView.and also following code in wdDoModifyView.
    IWDTable table = (IWDTable) view.getElement("Ur table id");
        table.setFirstVisibleRow(wdContext.currentContextElement().getCtx_va_visiblerow());
    3.Bind the ctx_va_firstvisblerow context to the table FirstVisibleRow.

  • To determine the number of rows selected in a table view (BSP)

    Hi,
    My requirement is:
    I would be selecting 1 row from a table view ( which is made multiselect for another requirement) , and press a button.
    The functionality of button is to open a popup window based on the row selected.
    I want to display an error message if more than 1 row is selected, and button is clicked.
    Message will say that "you cannot select more than 1 row".
    For this,  I need to know how I can get the number of selected rows in a table view.
    I tried using the below code.
    But I feel this will work only in DO_HANDLE_DATA method.
    The popup would open, even before control comes in this method.
      CALL METHOD cl_hrrcf_iterator=>get_tv_index
        EXPORTING

          pt_form_fields = table_form_fields

    Could you please provide me with a solution.

  • How to get the previous row selected index of a table....

    Hi friends,
    I have a table. i have a action/event handler defined on its onLeadSelect event.
    In this event, if i use node_code->get_lead_selection_index( ) .. i m getting the newly clicked row index.
    ex: table has 3 rows.
    Row 1 is by default selected. Now if i select the row 3, in my event by using node_code->get_lead_selection_index( ). im getting index 3. which i sel
    But i want to get index 1.
    kindly help me.. i dont have any other option as i m very new to this.
    hope i gave u correct inputs on my problem.
    thanks in advance,
    Niraja

    One way to achieve this is to maintain an attribute in the assistance class or a node element , called OldLeadSelection , at the Component controller level which stores the value of the lead selection index.
    On LeadSelect action handler method, in the first line, read the value of the attribute/element defined above. For the first time a row is lead selected, this value will be initial. After exexcuting the code in the LeadSelection event handler method, store the LeadSelection index value in the attribute defined above. The next time when the LeadSelection event method is called, when the value of this attribute is read in the initial line, it will house the value of the index of the previous LeadSelection.
    There could be other ways to achieve this. This is one of the methods.
    Best Regards,
    Rashmi.

  • Changing row selection of a af:table component in a managed bean

    Hi,
    how can ich programmatically change the selected row of a <af:table> component within a managed bean class?
    I have a table which depends on the date settings of a <dvt:timeSelector> of a <dvt:lineGraph> component. Now when the timeSelector is moved to new dates the table should be refreshed by executing the query for the table again with the new dates. The problem is when the query of the table's view object is executed again the first row will be automatically selected after executing.
    Now I want to achieve that the last row I have selected will be selected again after moving the time selector.
    I searched already in the OTN Discussion Forum but didn't find a fitting solution.
    Thanks in advance!

    The problem is that executing the query moves the current roe to the first one.
    What you can do is to save the current row (its pk), execute the query and then set the current row to the pk of the saved selected one. Set the table attribute displayRow="selected" and set the selected row of the table to the now current row.
    One problem is that you have to be sure the last selected row is still in the record set of the new query result.
    Here are some pointers with code:

  • [SOLVED :)] Need help with adf table row selection

    Hi,
    In my application I am displaying results in a table. The DisplayRow property of table is set to Selected
    There are Next and Back buttons which help user to view details associated to the next/previous rows.
    I am using ADF 11g
    When user clicks Next or Previous button, then the selection of the row should also gets updated
    To achieve this i wrote below piece of code:
    this.tblS.getSelectedRowKeys().clear();+
    this.tblS.setRowIndex(count);+
    RowKeySet rks =  tblS.getSelectedRowKeys();+
    rks.add(tblS.getRowKey());+
    rks =  tblS.getSelectedRowKeys();+
    ISSUE:_
    When i run application and click Next/Previous Button, all functionalities do take place properly, but a null pointer exception is also thrown._+
    If i remove DisplayRow property of table from Selected to Default, every thing works good and no Exception is thrown_+
    But as records in my table are going to be around 50-60 everytime, i need to set DisplayRow property of table to Selected.
    Is there any way to achieve this? Solve this problem?

    Hi Arun,
    Thanks for replying.
    Actually in my application there is one result table and a section that is displaying complete details of the product selectd in result table.
    The next/previous buttons are not binded with result table.
    What I am doing is, I am puuliing data from VO and displaying it on form, whenever any of these buttons is clicked.
    As soon as these buttons are clicked data is coming up, but selection state of table is not getting updated.
    So to update selection state i wrote piece of code described in my previous post.
    Everything works fine if displayRow property of table is not set to selected.
    If i set display row property of table to selected, then i get a null pointer exception with message log defined in previous post.
    Although NPE is thrown, yet all data is properly fetched and table selection is also updated. But am not able to get how this NPE is coming and hpw to fix it .
    (I need to keep displayRow = selected, for all other cases NPE is not thrown)
    Please help..
    Thanks and Regards

  • Row Selection in table

    Hi All,
    I created a table with three columns - Select(Checkbox), EmpID(TextView), Status(TextView).
    The data for EmpId column and Status column is coming from a webservice. While i created a node with a boolean attribute and bound to the "Checked" property of the Select column editor.
    I created a method RowSelect and assigned it to the onToggleEvent of the check box.
    I need to have a functionality where the user should be able to select some Emp ids through the checkbox, and on the click of Activate button, the ids and the status of the selected rows should be passed to webservice as input.
    But when i deploy the code, the check boxes in the table are disabled.
    Can anyone tell me where iam doing wrong?
    Regards,
    Maggie

    Hi,
    In the Init() method of the view editor, initialize the boolean attribute to false and try once:
    for(int i=0; i < tablesize; i++)
      wdContext().node<nodename>.get<nodename>ElementAt(i).set<booleanvalue>(false);

  • Reg Row Selection in a Table UI Element

    Hi All,
    Can anyone help me in writing code to select a row from a table.
    I need to read the data from a row selected in a table and print it in the next page of my application.
    I request anyone to send me some coding line on how to select a row from a table and read data from it.
    Regards,
    Murthy.

    Hi Narayana,
    Follow the steps.
    Step1: Create a WD Component.
    Step2:  Under Component Controller create a
    i)  2  Node “EmployeeInfo” and “EmployeeRecord”  with attribute “EmployeeName” and “Position”  of cardinality 0..n for both the node and a context attribute “WindowInstance” of type “com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.session.api.IWDWindow”
    Step3: Go to the Diagram View. Do the mapping between “EmployeeView” and “Component Controller” and between “DisplayView” and “Component Controller”
    Step4: Design 2 Views layout
    i>EmployeeView
    Layout like
    Employee Name |                                  Employee Position
    EmployeeInfo.EmployeeName| EmployeeInfo.Position
    EmployeeInfo.EmployeeName| EmployeeInfo.Position
    DisplayResultButton
    ii>DisplayView
    Layout like
    Employee Name   |                      Employee Position
    EmployeeRecord.EmployeeName |    EmployeeRecord.Position
    EmployeeRecord.EmployeeName |    EmployeeRecord.Position
    CloseWindowButton
    Step5: Create 2 Windows
    1>EmployeeWindow
    2>DisplayWindow.
    Under “EmployeeWindow” add the “EmployeeView”
    and “DisplayWindow” add the “DisplayView”
    Step5: Associate action “DisplayResult” with the “DisplayResultButton” and use this code inside the Implementation of “EmployeeView”
    public void wdDoInit()
        //@@begin wdDoInit()
    //initialize nodes
    wdContext.nodeEmployeeInfo().addElement(wdContext.createEmployeeInfoElement());
    wdContext.nodeEmployeeRecord ().addElement(wdContext.createEmployeeRecordElement());
        //@@end
    public void onActionDisplayResult(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionDisplayResult(ServerEvent)
    try
    IPrivateDisplayView.IEmployeeRecordElement empRec =
    wdContext.createEmployeeRecordElement();
    int n = wdContext.nodeEmployeeInfo().size();
    int leadSelected = wdContext.nodeEmployeeInfo().getLeadSelection();
    // loop backwards to avoid index troubles
    for (int i = 0; i < n ; i++) {
    if (wdContext.nodeEmployeeInfo().isMultiSelected(i) || leadSelected == i) {
    empRec.setEmployeeName(wdContext.nodeEmployeeInfo().getElementAt(i).getAttributeValue("EmployeeName"));
    empRec.setPosition(wdContext.nodeEmployeeInfo().getElementAt(i).getAttributeValue("Position"));
    wdContext.nodeEmployeeRecord().addElement(empRec);
    catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    IWDWindowInfo windowInfo =(IWDWindowInfo) wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows(
         "DisplayWindow");
    //        create the Window
         IWDWindow window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createWindow(windowInfo, true);
         window.setWindowPosition(WDWindowPos.CENTER);
         window.setTitle("WindowTitle");
         window.setWindowSize(200,200);
    //        Save WindowInstance in Context
         wdContext.currentContextElement().setWindowInstance(window);
    //        and show the window
         window.show();
         //wdThis.wdFirePlugInDisplay();
        //@@end
    Step6: Associate action “CloseWindow” with the “CloseWindowButton
    ” and use this code inside implementation of  “DisplayView”
      public void onActionCloseWindow(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionCloseWindow(ServerEvent)
       IWDWindow window = wdContext.currentContextElement().getWindowInstance();

  • First row of table is displayed as selected always when application loads.

    Hi..
    I have a table with few rows in it.When the application loads the first row of table is displayed as selected always.I don't want any of the rows to be displayed as selected.
    How can I prevent this ?
    My jdev version 11.1.1.5.0

    Hi,
    can you remove the attribute
    selectedRowKeys="#{bindings.XXXX.collectionModel.selectedRow}"This would ensure that there are no selected rows persisted. you can also paste the jspx code also for better answer.
