Retrieving class member list out of source file.

Hi, all.
I got stuck to do this.
I want to retreive list of class members' name.
For example,
class Testing{
int var1;
List var2;
InnerTest var3;
void method1{ }
public void method2{ }
private int method3{}
class InnerTest{
int varInner1;
my expected out put:
class: Testing
instance vars: var1, var2, var3
method: method1, method2, method3
inner class: InnerTest
instatnce vars(Inner): varInner1
How can I do this? I don't have any idea yet.
source code can be any kinds of valid source code file.
If any one have any idea of this or any examples of this, please post it. It will be big help.
Thank you.

Thank you for the answer.
But, that's possible during run time.
I want to do it in Editing time.
It's like this;
when you editing your java source with editor tool like forte or JCreator.., the editor shows the list of class, methods and instance variables.
I want to know how this job is done.
Please answer, this is big stuck to me for my project.
Thank you.

  • Script to search all files in specified folder for multiple string text values listed in a source file and output each match to one single results txt file

    I have been searching high and low for this one.  I have a vbscript that can successfully perform the function if one file is listed.  It does a Wscript.echo on the results and if I run this via command using cscript, I can output to a text file
    that way.  However, I cannot seem to get it to work properly if I want it to search ALL the files in the folder.  At one point, I was able to have it create the output file and appear as if it worked, but it never showed any results when the script
    was executed and folder was scanned.  So I am going back to the drawing board and starting from the beginning.
    I also have a txt file that contains the list of string text entries I would like it to search for.  Just for testing, I placed 4 lines of sample text and one single matching text in various target files and nothing comes back.  The current script
    I use for each file has been executed with a few hundred string text lines I want it to search against to well over one thousand.  It might take awhile, but it works every time. The purpose is to let this run against various log files in a folder and
    let it search.  There is no deleting, moving, changing of either the target folder/files to run against, nor of the file that contains the strings to search for.  It is a search (read) only function, going thru the entire contents of the folder and
    when done, performs the loop function and onto the next file to repeat the process until all files are searched.  When completed, instead of running a cscript to execute the script and outputting the results to text, I am trying to create that as part
    of the overall script.  Saving yet another step for me to do.
    My current script is set to append to the same results file and will echo [name of file I am searching]:  No errors found.  Otherwise, the
    output shows the filename and the string text that matched.  Because the results append to it, I can only run the script against each file separately or create individual output names.  I would rather not do that if I could include it all in one.
     This would also free me from babysitting it and running each file script separately upon the other's completion.  I can continue with my job and come back later and view the completed report all in one.  So
    if I could perform this on an entire folder, then I would want the entries to include the filename, the line number that the match occurred on in that file and the string text that was matched (each occurrence).  I don't want the entire line to be listed
    where the error was, just the match itself.
    Example:  (In the event this doesn't display correctly below, each match, it's corresponding filename and line number all go together on the same line.  It somehow posted the example jumbled when I listed it)
    File1.txt Line 54
    Job terminated unexpectedly
     File1.txt Line 58 Process not completed
    File1.txt
    Line 101 User input not provided
    File1.txt
    Line 105  Process not completed
    File2.txt
    No errors found
    File3.txt
    Line 35 No tape media found
    File3.txt
    Line 156 Bad surface media
    File3.txt Line 188
    Process terminated
    Those are just random fake examples for this post.
    This allows me to perform analysis on a set of files for various projects I am doing.  Later on, when the entire search is completed, I can go back to the results file and look and see what files had items I wish to follow up on.  Therefore, the
    line number that each match was found on will allow me to see the big picture of what was going on when the entry was logged.
    I actually import the results file into a spreadsheet, where further information is stored regarding each individual text string I am using.  Very useful.
    If you know how I can successfully achieve this in one script, please share.  I have seen plenty of posts out there where people have requested all different aspects of it, but I have yet to see it all put together in one and work successfully.
    Thanks for helping.

    I'm sorry.  I was so consumed in locating the issue that I completely overlooked posting what exactly I was needing  help with.   I did have one created, but I came across one that seemed more organized than what I originally created.  Later
    on I would learn that I had an error in log location on my original script and therefore thought it wasn't working properly.  Now that I am thinking that I am pretty close to achieving what I want with this one, I am just going to stick with it.
    However, I could still use help on it.  I am not sure what I did not set correctly or perhaps overlooking as a typing error that my very last line of this throws an "Expected Statement" error.  If I end with End, then it still gives same
    results.
    So to give credit where I located this:
    http://vbscriptwmi.uw.hu/ch12lev1sec7.html
    I then adjusted it for what I was doing.
    What this does does is it searches thru log files in a directory you specify when prompted.  It looks for words that are contained in another file; objFile2, and outputs the results of all matching words in each of those log files to another file:  errors.log
    Once all files are scanned to the end, the objects are closed and then a message is echoed letting you know (whether there errors found or not), so you know the script has been completed.
    What I had hoped to achieve was an output to the errors.log (when matches were found) the file name, the line number that match was located on in that file and what was the actual string text (not the whole line) that matched.  That way, I can go directly
    to each instance for particular events if further analysis is needed later on.
    So I could use help on what statement should I be closing this with.  What event, events or error did I overlook that I keep getting prompted for that.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Why we can have only one public class in one source file

    why we can have only one public class in one source file

    When the java compiler is run it looks for classes referenced by the classes you are directly compiling. When looking for these referenced classes it looks for source as well as class files and compiles them automatically if the coresponding class files are missing, or older than the source.
    In order to do this it must be able to work out the source file name for any given class which might be referenced from another (the rule also applies to package level access).

  • Example of a source file for Creating general maintenance task list

    Hi SAP Gurus,
    I need to create general maintenance task list from a source file. Reading forums i found that it is possible by using LSMW, with object 0490 and method 0000.
    However, I don't know how to associate structure IBIPTLST, IBITLOP and IBIPMAT. When i assign individual source files for each structure, and I execute LSMW, a problem appears indicating that IBITLOP don't have all the required fields from the list header.
    This is the structure propose by SAP in standar programa IBIP.
    Structure - IBIPTLST     Task list header
    |-->>  IBIPTEXT  (see comment below)
       |-->>  IBIPTLOP   Operations
    |       |-->> IBIPTEXT  (see comment below)
       |       |-->> IBIPTMAT  Material for one operation
       |       |-->> IBIPPRTS  Production resources/tools (PRT
       |                   |-->> LONGTEXT  (see comment below)
       |       |-->  IBIPMPAC  Maintenance packages (up to 32)
       |--->> IBIPBDCD (see comment below) from operation overview
    In other forums, a possible solution is to define an unique source file, that is proposed by LSMW, but i don't know how to obtain this template.
    Can you send me an excel example of how to define de input file or the steps I have to follow in order to execute an LSMW or the standard transaction IBIP?.
    My e-mail is [email protected]
    I have read all the SAP documentation, what i really need is an example.
    Thanks a lot

  • Find out which java files really needed to compile

    Hi,
    I wan't to create WebStart jar files from a big library. Most times I only need a part of the lib (e.g. 30%). It is overhead to complie and pack the hole library.
    I need a tool (favor for ant) - I can give a hand full of "initial java files" and it give me back a list of java files I have to compile and pack to run without ClassNotFound Exception.
    This expects dynamic class loading.
    Have you the same problem or solved this problem?
    Using ant it is only possible to select a bundle of java classes and it is comiling exactly this classes :-/

    You could use the verbose option while compiling. It will list the dependent source files that are required during compilation.
    For command line, javac ... -verbose
    From ant, you could specify verbose="yes" withing the <javac> task. :)

  • Does a member class have to be within the same source file?

    Hi there,
    I have this application that extensively uses two classes. The main class setsup the GUI, and the second main class is responsible for handling all of the actions that arise from the GUI.
    I could have done this by making all of my handler methods be of the first main class, but this class really is just for the GUI setup, the logic doesn't fit into this class' behaviour.
    The class that handles the GUI actions is required to use the fields of the main class e.g. to get values of a text field. The problem is that since the class that handles the actions is getting very big, I would kind of like to move this class into a different source file - because currently it is a member class of the first one, so that it can access all of its fields.
    Is there some way that I can move this handler class into another source file, and still have it access all of the fields of the main GUI class - without making the fields public, or using millions of get/set methods? Also, I can't use inheritance because the both the GUI class creates an instance of the handler class in its constructor, and so leads to an infinite loop when trying to instantiate the GUI class.
    Can I ask.. would a static class or something be of use here? Do they exist? I'm confused as to how to do this without getting the mother of all source files (in size that is - nothing to do with cooking or baking).
    - Anyway, thanks in advance for any help that you could give me -
    BYEE, Edd.

    You can't have an inner class that is not in the same source file. However, you could use package-protected (default) access to give another class in the same package access to things without making them public. Actually, that's how inner classes are actually compiled. Package-protected access is underused IMHO. It's a great tool that most people (including myself) are suspicious of at first.

  • *Added* code to existing source file, compiled it, and class file shrunk

    Another newbie here. Fortunately, my classpath is ok, so I'm able to compile a .java file.
    I added one line of code (System.out.println) to write the value of a variable to a log. After compiling with javac, I noticed that the resulting [new] class file was smaller than the existing class file. I looked at each of the class files with Textpad. It's gibberish, but I quickly saw that a large block of code was missing in the new class file, even though the size of the source file had been increased.
    There is a difference, however, between how the two class files were created. The existing class file was compiled (along with many others) by exporting an .EAR file from a development environment (WSAD) to the WebSphere Administrator Console. Conversely, I am now compiling the same source file with javac on my machine.
    I suspect that this is the reason why I can add code to a .java file, compile it, and have the resulting class file actually lose code. Even if I am correct, I don't know what to do about it.
    Does anyone have an idea?
    Regards,
    Daniel T.

    Thank you both for your replies. I've read many posts over the past few months, and I know how important it is to provide as much info as possible, when asking a question here. That said, I have another tasty tidbit...
    After replacing the existing (larger) class file with the new (smaller) class file, my application now produces this:
    "*Error 500: LinkageError while defining class*..." [name of class]
    *"...(Unsupported major.minor version 50.0) This is often caused by having a class defined at multiple locations within the classloader hierarchy. Other potential causes include compiling against an older or newer version of the class that has an incompatible method signature. Dumping the current context classloader hierarchy: ==> indicates defining classloader ==>[0] com.ibm.ws.classloader.CompoundClassLoader@6bd156d5 Local ClassPath:"*
    ...[the entire classpath]...
    Original exception--- java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError:
    I'm guessing that my focus should mostly be on the 'Original exception', and maybe I need to revisit the JRE or JDK or JVM (these terms are somewhat nebulous to me, so please forgive me using them interchangeably) on my machine. For now, I'll just keep trying stuff. Thanks again for the replies!

  • Jdb in java 1.3.1 not listing source file...

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use the remote debugging option Xdebug for my server. If I attach using jdb -attach, I'm not able to list my source file using list command. It says Source file not found. I tried various means, -Denv.class.path, etc. nothing works. the use command is always showing "." I'm able to attach put breakpoints, stop the server code etc. please help.

    it finally worked if I start the jdb from the ROOT dir. Then it takes the class path for the sources. But still, changing the "sourcepath" inside jdb is of no help.

  • Multiple classes in the same source file

    I'm not sure what this is called, having multiple classes in the same source file. At first I thought it ws called subclassing but then I googled it and found that subclasses are just derived classes. Here's an example of what I'm talking about.
    public class A {
    class B {
    class C {
    }So first of all, what is having multiple classes in the same source file called?
    Secondly, what are the advantages/disadvantages of this?
    Thirdly, can you have a class completely WITHIN a class (same source file but inside the class not outside) and what are the advantages/disadvantages of this?

    Advantage: You can reduce the number of source files specialy when your secondry classes are used only in the public class of the file.
    Disadvantage: Normaly it make things more clear if we have one-to-one correspondance of class and source files. This make things easy when you want to find the java file of a perticuler class file. Also If you later wanted to create a seperate public class with a same name as one of those secondry classes you got lots of changes to do.
    You can avoid this by creating them as nested classes
    ex:-
    public class MyPublicClass{
       private static class MyInnerClass{
    }this way the inner class will create a class file with name "MyPublicClass$MyInnerClass.class" instead of just "MyInnerClass.class"
    And also if you declare the inner class as public you can access them from out side

    1) is it possible to split a single class up among several files,? Ive tried taking my file foo.java and splitting it so that half the methods are in foo1.java and the other half are in foo2.java, just for convinience and readablity. Javac doesn't seem to like this. Is there something I shoudl be doing to make this legal or is it just not allowed?
    2) Similarly, is there a way have a private inner class in a seperate file from its outer class?
    I havent seen any references to how to do this is it that javac is very dependant on the structure of the .java files, or just that all the examples Ive seen so far have been?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    1) is it possible to split a single class up among several files,? Yes, but you'll have to glue them all back together again to get javac to process them.
    Ive tried taking my file foo.java
    and splitting it so that half the methods are in foo1.java and the other half are in foo2.java,
    just for convinience and readablity. Convinience : doesn't seem very convenient to me to have one class split into two source files.
    Readability: as above, less readable.
    If your class seems incovenient or unreadable, its most likely too big and doing too many things.
    Javac doesn't seem to like this. Is there something I
    shoudl be doing to make this legal or is it just not allowed?Glueing the pieces back together.
    2) Similarly, is there a way have a private inner class in a seperate file from its outer class?Not without some preprocessor goo.
    is it that javac is very dependant on the structure of the .java filesMost likely by design.

  • Can you code 2 classes into one source file?

    Can you have 2 classes coded in one source file? If so, do you end up with 2 .class files after the compile?

    yes you can code 2 classes in one source file. I
    believe that you have to reference one class is an
    "object" class of the class under which you save the
    file as.
    Example:
    File name is A.java
    class A{
    class B{
    When you want to refer to class B, you have to say
    A.B ( eg: A.B ab = new A.B() ). The class file(s)
    will be A.class and A$B.class.
    This is what I recall at best at the time. good luckI presume you mean when one is an inner class? Otherwise:
    public class one {
      one() { System.out.println("one");
      public static void main( String[] argv ) {
        new one();
        new two();
    class two {
      two() { System.out.println("two");
    }Will work fine, and will create one.class and two.class. But that does not mean it is a good idea to do it ;o)
