Retrieving Lost Contacts List

I had to restore my 3g from being a brick when it messed up with 3.0 update and i was trying to do it and after trying so many ways (one of them being delete all itunes stuff on your pc) i cant get my contacts back through just itunes now.
I have all the stuff i deleted in my recycle bin but i dont want to restore them all and have something mess up again - does anyone know the file on windows xp that holds my contacts and notes and calender? more so Contacts than anything but i had some info saved in my notes id like to get back as well if possible.
Thanks

Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. This can be with the Address Book on your Mac and is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
Were you syncing contacts with the Address Book on your Mac with your old iPhone and if not, why not?
You can't selectively choose which data included with your iPhone's backup is transferred to a new iPhone, or restored on your iPhone when restoring the iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup. It is all or none.
If all contact info that was available on your old iPhone was not included with the iPhone's backup that was transferred to your new iPhone and you weren't syncing contacts with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process, the contacts may be lost.
If your old iPhone is still available along with the contact info, sync your old iPhone with the Address Book on your Mac, which is selected under the Info tab for the iPhone sync preferences. Follow this by selecting the same under the Info tab for your new iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync.

  • Lost CONTACT list after SIM card change requested by operator

Dear All, this is my first post, so please bear with me.  I am recurring to this forum to ask for HELP on an issue that is really annoying, specially after spending over an hour with a BlackBerry Support Person who tried many steps to solve the issue without any luck [it was obvious this person did not have the technical expertise to handle the problem at hand].  Here's the story:  Last week I received on the mail a new SIM card with a letter indicating I had to replace my "old" SIM card with this new one, after receiving a text message from the operator.  On Friday I received the SMS and proceeded with the change.  Prior to exchanging SIM Cards, I asked the Call Center Agent if this would cause any problems with my 8520 BB.  The answer was NO, all the configuration info remains on the device, and not on the SIM card.  Well, this was not the case and some applications lost their configuration: email and contacts. Curiously, the BBM service was unaltered.  So I would like to know how can I get back my Contact List? (the email service was quickly and easily reconfigured).  Apparently my old Contact list is somewhere in the Device's memory... but a New Contact List has been created after the SIM Card change.  I know this because when I press the Call History, all the contacts' info is available ... but when pressing the Contacts Address I can only see 1 contact.  Any ideas???? Thank You All.

This is a fun little (and I mean little) problem. Let's walk through it here.
    1) Some applications lost email and contact configurations.
    A) I'm not entirely sure what you mean in particular as far as the email problem goes. Were the e-mails still set up, but you weren't receiving them? Most likely because the new SIM card contained a new ID number. If you were to go to Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Tables, press the menu button, and hit Register...that should fix your problem there.
    2) BBM Service was unaltered.
    A) This is because the BBM service is reliant on the PIN number unique to your device (not your SIM card).
    3) Lost contact list, but still showing in the call history.
    A) Your call history is just data stored on the device, the only time your contact history is access when sending and making a call is just a simple check to see if you have the information stored already to match a name to it. The data stored in history is it's own entity. I explained this in a slightly confusing manner, but it's slightly irrelevant.
It's entirely possible that your contact list was stored on your SIM card and not to your device. Try this out:
-Insert your old SIM card into your phone
-Open up your contacts and hit the menu button
-Scroll down and select "SIM Phone Book"
-Here you should see the list of contacts if they were truly stored on your SIM and not your phone.
-Hit the menu button again, and choose "Copy all to Contacts"
Once the process is complete,  you may reinsert the new SIM card and continue on using the phone as normal.
    Hope this helps!

How to restore my contact list on my phone?

a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the device to boot back up.
If that doesn't work settings - general - reset - reset network settings.
If that doesn't work, contact your cell phone provider.

  • Lost Contact List and other issues

I am writing in hope someone here can help with an issue we are having with one of our phones.  We both have the Incredible 2, mine is working just fine, but as of last night, my SO's phone has been giving him a Google error and then force close.  He cannot access his contact list, the text messages are not showing up with either names or pictures, and he cannot send emails using his phone any longer.  Has anyone had this issue before?  If so, how can we fix it?  The only thing that he did differently last night was install an app (from the University of Phoenix) to access his online classroom.  Since doing that, the phone has been running all crazy.  He has since deleted that app, along with several others that he no longer uses, took the battery out, rebooted several times and it is STILL not working.
    We need some help please!!

    Reset the device......
SETTINGS---> SD AND PHONE STORAGE----> FACTORY DATA RESET
All your contacts should return to the device when you re enter your Google email and password at the startup screen after the reset. Your contacts come from different places so don't compare your list until you have all your accounts set up again. (All emails, all social network accounts.). Also, it is very important to enter your Gmail account first at the startup menu. Then add your other ones after that. This will insure your Google phone will run properly.
Do not be afraid to reset any Android phone as needed. Also, use the menu key in the Market to see that all of your downloaded apps are up to data on your phone. This helps your phone run smoothly.
Sometimes Apps work on some phones and not others. It happens. The developers of these apps need to know this and if you want, you can contact any of them personally on their app page.
    Hope this helps....

  • How to recover the lost contact list if I had not done the back up yet

  • How to recover lost contact list

All of my contact list has disappeared. Is there any way to recover it?

    Are these iCloud contacts?
Are they available when you sign in to iCloud.com with your Apple ID from a wb browser on your computer?
    If so:
Settings > iCloud > turn off Contacts, delete from phone if prompted (to avoid the possibility of duplicates), wait for it to finish then turn it back on. This will force a re-push from iCloud.com.

  • Lost contacts list

lost all contacts in latest update. how can i retrieve them?

Check for locally created backups. Should be:
    Windows XP
    \Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
    Windows 7
    \Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
    Windows Vista
    \Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
    Mac OS X
    /Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
Then use iPhone Backup Extractor to recover data and after easily import your contacts.
    Good luck!

  • HT4910 how to retrieve lost contacts in the cloud

I lost all of my contacts please help

    Missing contacts:
Here's a test to perform - using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and go to the Contacts page.  If they are gone, then they are gone.
If they show up, then the problem is that your device is not connecting to the Contacts database on icloud.
On the device, go to Settings>icloud.  Be sure icloud is on and using the right ID.  If not, scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Delete Account - this just disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost.  Then log back in using the correct ID.  ALSO - be sure the Contacts are turned on (on the same screen).
Note:  Contacts are not part of an iCloud backup, since they are part of contacts database on iCloud's servers.

  • Want to retrieve lost contacts, but as a reboot and not an Outlook sync

Hope this makes sense. Wife and I are both iPhone users, but access iTunes on a PC for updates. This point, as you will see, seems relevant. When I want to add new music I have to add it to my folder and sync my entire music collection instead of just adding the new songs. If I just sync the new songs, it erases what I had and will add only the new stuff.
Along those lines.....wife wasn't getting email and her IT guy offered to get it going again. In the process, he set it up to where the phone recieved her work Outlook contacts "over-the-air", and she went from about 70 contacts she wanted in her iPhone, to about 500 that didn't even include the original ones she cared about. I went into the setting and turned that function off, but now it is completely empty.
When the phone locked up once last year, the guys at the Apple Store gave her a new one. I was able to boot it up in iTunes, and it basically restored everything she had, including, I'm fairly sure, her contacts. I thought that I now could restore the phone, and have all the settings that were present when I updated the software after the new release last week.
But...from what I can tell, when I go to "restore" I get prompted that the phone is going to create a template of how it is NOW. I don't want that, I want the settings from the last software upgrade. Any advice? Thanks.

Incidentally, my first thought was to map a network share from the NAS to my computer, so that my music files appear on the Z: drive, say on my computer. I could then set up iTunes to store music etc in that folder, and to copy all new items to that folder. However, if I do that, all that'll happen is that on my NAS, the library file will become out of date as I add music to the collection but not to the index.

  • Retrieving lost contacts from TC backup

Hi, my contacts disappeared in my iphone, my laptop, and mobile me. On two separate backup drives (one being time machine) all contacts as far back as the backups go (several months) show the same as the current one. ie if I add a new contact and then go into time machine, that new contact is shown as being present in all previous backups. This must be an error in the way time capsule backs up the address book.
I tried working around this by going thru applications/library/address book, and restoring from TC that way, but that doesn't work. I did the disc repair thru disc utilities which did nothing. Disc utility is saying there is nothing wrong. My time machine is only a month old and not running any weird systems or programs. It isn't a problem with the TC because I have the same problem on another external hard drive.
I think the backups are there, but I can't see them because every previous backup shows the same as the current. As far as I can tell this problem is exclusive to the address book.
Any suggestions on how I can get my contacts back out of time machine???

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I'd be inclined to wait a while to see if they return. If the problem persists:
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.
