Retrieving Schema details from any database using JDBC.
Hi,
We are in a process of developing a tool to extract the schema level details from any database. Following are the areas where we are facing difficulties. Please give us your valuable comments.
1.How can I get all the depending views of a particular table or vice- versa ?
2.If there is a join view in my database. How can i get the information
for all the join columns?
3. suppose the view in the database is built using some select and omit
Clause. how can I get those conditions using JDBC ?
4.for a viewcolumn , how can I find out, it refers to which column of
a table ?
5.For a table how can I get the information about its unique
constraints and check constraints
6.How can I check , a constraint is enabled or disabled on any table?
I will appreciate your response.
Hi,

difficulties. Please give us your valuable comments.
1.How can I get all the depending views of a
particular table or vice- versa ?No way with JDBC. You need to create something DBMS specific
2.If there is a join view in my database. How can i get
the information for all the join columns?see 1)
3. suppose the view in the database is built using
some select and omit
Clause. how can I get those conditions using JDBC
BC ?see 1)
4.for a viewcolumn , how can I find out, it refers to
which column of a table ?see 1)
5.For a table how can I get the information about its
unique constraints and check constraintsThe DatabaseMetadata object can return that information
6.How can I check , a constraint is enabled or
disabled on any table?I don't think that this is possible with JDBC (not sure
if that information is returned from the DatabaseMetadata
object). You will need to code something DBMS specific
I think there is something with deferred constraints which
can be checked by JDBC but I'm not sure about that either

Regards,
RuchiTry to find out, what characters really are in your string customer.
I assume you used System.out.print..(), when you got them as '?'.
Find out which unicodes they are!
Afterwards I see two possibilites:
Either
1) you see real unicodes for Chinese characters, and it was only the unability of System.out to print them others than as '?', then you can convert these characters however you want. Maybe your further processing can handle them directly as unicode.
or
2) you get really '?' in your string. Then Excel (or JDBC or ODBC or ???) hasn't been able to transmit these Chinese characters to your program others than converting them all into '?'. Then you are lost, because you can't know which Chinese character each '?' originally could have been.
Hope this helps.
Please tell us, which you experienced, 1) or 2). -
Generate .dbf file from oracle database using JDBC
Dear all,
I need to generate a .dbf file from oracle table. Anyone know how to do this using Java Programming or JDBC? please help!
thank youHi,
I assume you already have a JDBC driver for either FoxPro or DBase. If not, use the JDBC-ODBC bridge and the ODBC driver that comes with Window$.
When you issue a "Create TABLE" command the driver will automatically create a .dbf file and then you can export data to it.

Hi All,
We have two BizTalk nodes, from both nodes we are getting this error from today morning, nothings has changed from application end.
Error : The Messaging Engine failed to retrieve the configuration from the database. Details:"c0002a1f".
Warning : Cannot perform encryption or decryption because the secret is not available from the master secret server. See the event log for related errors.
Can you please suggest step where need to check.
I don't have any knowledge where the master secret file saved during installation.
Regards
SumanMost of the time, master secret server is not backup frequency. Mostly its is done during the time when the servers have been setup. If anything changed between the time the master secret has been backed up and now, then you don't have the correct version
of master secret file backed up. This is why its is always a good practice to backup the master secret periodically and also try restoring in any of the test server to verify the backed up file is correct and also to make us conformable in restore
process.
You have one option now, try restoring with the file what you have (4 years old). If the backed version is not the correct version, then only option is to reconfigure the BizTalk.
MSDN: How to Restore the Master Secret
You cannot backup the master secret file now as ii could have been corrupted. That the reason we're suggesting to restore the corrupted master secret file. For your future reference, following the steps as suggested in this article to take backup of master
secret.

Retrieving data from Microsoft Access using JDBC
I noticed that when i tried retrieving data from Microsoft access using JDBC, I realised that it was throwing SQLException when the column names were two word with spaces between them, e.g. Date Birth. But after i removed the space from the column names, my SQL queries were retrieving data. Was it because of the space in between the column names of the table?
Yeah, as far as I know having two word column names isn't allowed in SQL. There might be some way to escape it, but generally it's sensible to avoid it.

Connecting to MSAcess database using JDBC in JSP
Hi,
I have created an Aceess database file (C:\db1.mdb) and created a DSN=db1.
I could able to connect to the database and retrieve the information from the tables using Sun's JDBC OdBc bridge drivers.
DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:db1").
It was working Fine in my Standalone java program.
But,when I used the database connection statements in my JSP page,it is not displaying any error message and not selecting rows from the Select statement i used in my JSP page.(The same worked in my standalone Java program).
I executed the two programs on same machine.Database is also on the same machine.
Can anyone tell me what shall i do to connect to the database(C:\db1.mdb) through JSP.
Thanks in Advance
Rao...in your code do you have any things that is suppressing your exception?? i.e. something lik
try
// do your stuff
catch(Exception e)
// do nothing??
}if so you vont get to know of any problem that happened....
also if there is an un handled exception the jsp page will sometimes come up as blank, because your print streem will be terminated abrubtly....
this will probably happen if you dont have a try - catch block at all, or if you are not handling the exception that is being thrown.... try inclosing your code in a try catch block and doing ex.priintStackTrace() in the catch block to get the exception trace on the server console....
also can you post some code for both your java client and jsp?? -

NCHAR issue with oracle database using JDBC adapter
Hi,
We have a requirement to develop an XI interface from FTP server(File adapter) to oracle database using JDBC adapter. In the oracle database table few fields are of type NCHAR/NVARCHAR. when we try to insert the character(A,B,c..) values into oracle table fields of type NCHAR/NVARCHAR, we are getting the following error message in the JDBC adapter audit log. IF we pass the numeric value to the same field, then we are able to insert the records successfully.
Unable to execute statement for table or stored procedure. 'IPCSDD_DOWNLOAD_PROCESS' (Structure 'StatementName1') due to java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00904: "P": invalid identifier

e.g .pdf formatted file would open in acrobat.
any help would be appreciated.

Hussein Saigerthe filereference class is for downloading and uploading files.
if you want to load xml, use the xml class.
and, if you want to write to an xml file and don't want to use server-side code, wait. -

How to eliminate inserting Duplicate rows into database using JDBC Adapter
File->Xi->JDBC
In above Scenario if the file has two rows their values are identical, then how can we eliminated inserting Duplicate rows into database using JDBC AdapterDatabase is a consumer of a SERVICE (SOA!!!!!!).
Database plays a business system role here!!!!
Mapping is part of an ESB service
Adaptor is a technology adapted to ESB framework to support specific protocol.
ESB accomplish ESB duties such as transformation, translation, routing. Routing use a protocol accepted by the consumer. In a JDBC consumer it is JDBC protocol and hence it a JDBC adaptor.
There is clear separation on responsibilities among business system and ESB. ESB do not participate in business decision or try to get into business system data layer.
So who ever are asking people to check duplicate check as part of mapping (an ESB service) may not understand integration practice.
Please use an adaptor module which will execute the duplicate check with business system in a plug and play approach and separate that from ESB service so that people can build integration using AGILE approach.

SQL Server Import Export Wizard fails while trying to retrieve the data from FastObjects Database
When trying to import data from FastObjects database to SQL Server 2008 R2 using import/ export wizard we get the following error message :
"Column information for the source and the destination data could not be retrieved, or the data types of source columns were not mapped correctly to those available on the destination provider."
Clicked on View button, the source data is retrieved correctly.
Clicked on Edit Mapping button, the Import Export Wizard failed with the below error message:

Thank you for the post.
Does the issue persists after you use the "Write a query to specify the data to transfer" option instead of “Copy data from one or more tables or views” option? If so, the issue may occur due to incorrect data type matching between the FastObjects database
data types and SSIS data types. In this condition, I don’t think it is necessary to upgrade the SQL Server version. Since you can open the Column Mappings dialog box, please try to modify the data type mapping manually.
In addition, the issue seems to be the same as the issue described in the following blog:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dataaccesstechnologies/archive/2010/09/09/sql-server-import-export-wizard-fails-while-trying-to-retrieve-the-data-from-pervasive-database.aspx
