Return package cursor from another store procedure

I’m new in Oracle, and I have the following problem:
I have an cursor in a package defined like that:
create or replace
PACKAGE "TestPACKAGE" AS
cursor DOWNLOAD_CURSOR is select A.* from Table1 A, Table2 B
END TestPACKAGE;
In reality there is more than one package with different cursors. I want to use that DOWNLOAD_CURSOR in a store procedure, function or another package, to return it to the client as a ref cursor.
Something likes that:
create or replace
procedure aa_test (retCURSOR OUT sys_refcursor) is
begin
retCURSOR := TestPACKAGE.DOWNLOAD_CURSOR;
end;
or to replace that procedure with another method to return data, and use them in a .NET application.

    First thing to remember though is that cursors do not hold any data (see: {thread:id=886365})
    In it's simplest form you would be creating a procedure along these lines...

    I had some across this problem some time ago. Although, there is no direct answer to this solution, there is a "kloog" that you can apply.
    Please note that the signature for registerOutParameter(int parameterIndex, int sqlType), and note that where ever sqlType is mentioned it is an int.
    Now JDBC is an interface and the implementation is given by Oracle. So to register an "out" parameter all you have to do is registerOutParameter(1, OracleTypes.CURSOR). It works!
    Or otherwise try and find out what the int value of CURSOR is and replace. This is because not all databases can support returning a "cursor" type, since ORACLE and few other databases have a concept of "STORED PROCEDURE" and PLSQL is specific to ORACLE.

    The rs can be opened but can NOT be updated!
    I saved the recordset into a XML file and there's no
    rs:baseschema/rs:basetable/rs:basecolumn
    attributes for "s:AttributeType" element.

    It is not possible through ADO/OLEDB.
    Try ODP.NET currently in Beta, it is possible to update DataSet created with refcursors. You need to specify your custom SQL or SP to send update/insert/delete.
    As I remember there is a sample with ODP.NET Beta 1 just doing this.

    Is it possible to return a REF CURSOR from a stored procedure that is being called from a remote database via a database link???
    We are trying from Pro*Cobol on MVS (which has db link pointing to AIX thru db link) and get a 00993 error, which seems to say this is not possible.
    Before I give up, thought I would check with the experts....

    You can't return Java objects as stored procedure or query results.

    Below execute statement should work along the parameter mapping which you have provided. Also try specifying the parameter size property as default.
    Exec [etl].[ConvertPeriodToStartAndEndDate] ?,?,? output, ? output
    Add a script task to check ssis variables values using,
    Msgbox(Dts.Variables("User::strExtractStartDate").Value)
    Do not forget to add the property "readOnlyVariables" as strExtractStartDate variable to check for only one variable.

    I need to find a way to send an e-mail from an store procedure every time a table is fetched.
    Is there a way to accomplish this task?. The e-mail should only display the rows in the table (no more than 5 rows) on a daily basis.

    With Oracle 10g you can use UTL_MAIL to send mails.

  • Exec stored procedure from another stored procedure - not working

    Hey, we've got a bunch of .sql files that we run, and some of them are stored procedures. Our programs call the stored procedures from within the .sql files and that works, but we've tried calling a stored procedure from another stored procedure and it won't compile. The syntax looks the same, and we can run that second stored procedure from the SQL*Plus command prompt just fine, so we know it's in there. It doesn't matter whether we type exec or execute in the first stored procedure--it still gives us a compilation error. Here's the relevant bit of the code:
            delete CMHISTORYINDEX;
            commit;
            exec SP_DAILY_TOTAL;
    END SP_DAILY_CLOSING;
    /Here's where we go into SQL*Plus and try to compile it:

    if you have access to another apple id that has been created in that country you can do this, for example I travel frequently between two countries, I have a billing address in both, I create 2 apple id, one for each country.
    I can purchase from either store as long as I am logged into the corresponding ID for that country. No matter where I am geographically located.
    The main thing you need to be aware of is it you switch to many times between the stores, it will stop allowing you log into one of them, not sure what the actuall number of switches is though....

    Yes, you need to use one OUT parameter in your PL/SQL procedure
    to pass the cursor variable to
    Java code. You can also return that as a return variable of
    PL/SQL function. Get the cursor variable from the resultset using
    Types.CURSOR data type and then proceed as usual.

    I have written a translation object in java that takes a $en_var in and returns its path.
    What I need to do is call that object from a PL/SQL store procedure. All the examples I have seen treat the store procedure as a wrapper around the java object.
    But in my store procedure calling the object is only one part of the procedures role:
    The store procedure code is :
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE WRITE_TO_FILE(in_file_name IN VARCHAR, in_en_var IN VARCHAR)
    file_handle UTL_FILE.FILE_TYPE;
    file_location VARCHAR2(50)
    BEGIN
    I need to be able to call the javaobject translation here
    file_location = translation.translatePath(in_en_var)
    file_handle := UTL_FILE.FOPEN(file_location, in_file_name, 'w');
    dbms_output.put_line ('input file name opened file name' ||in_file_name ||'-->' ||in_file_location);
    UTL_FILE.put_line(file_handle,'Hello Tony);
    UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(file_handle);
    END WRITE_TO_FILE;
    I call the java class method translatePath with a string the en_var which returns the path as a string which is then passed as a parameter to UTL_FILE.FOPEN.
