Returning Storm 9530 to default settings?

My wife decided on getting a different phone and I need to "clear" the Storm and return to it's new factory settings.  I need to delete e-mail addresses and just basically get the phone back to the configuration it came in from new.  How can this be done?

  • Trakckpad default settings

    A colleague changed my trackpad settings as a practical joke. I want to return them to the default settings, but there is no option to do so. Can anyone tell me the default settings for each trackpad gesture or tell me how to easily reset all trackpad settings all at one time?

    Here's the defaults:
    Point & Click
    Tap to click: Disable
    Secondary click: Enable (maybe this was disabled by default)
    Lookup: Enable
    Three finger drag: Disable
    Tracking Speed: 40%
    Scroll & Zoom
    All Enabled
    More Gestures
    All Enabled except App Expose

  • Problems with Storm 9530 after software update

    Greetings, I am new to this forum and hope I am in the right place.
    After an email prompt from BlackBerry, Yesterday, I updated my software on my Verizon BlackBerry Storm, 9530.
    Now I have several problems;
    1.  Voice commands are not being recognized as easily as previously, making hands free calling almost impossible.
    2.  Pandora will stall near the end of each selection.  The song will resume after I push the pause and then the play button.
    3.  When I attempt to live stream from a local radio station, I get the following message: "! This playlist contains no valid songs"    Buffering... is displayed in the upper right hand corner, but no connection is ever made.
    Any ideas what I need to do to fix the thing?

    Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    1) A known bug...we all hope that RIM is working on a fix.
    2) A known bug...Pandora is working on a fix. I have heard that it is available on their website but not yet via AppWorld.
    3) Very difficult to diagnose...it could be the website itself...it could be your device browser settings....it could be a number of things. Try these steps.
    Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Register with VZW:
    Dial *228, select option 1
    Dial *228, select option 2
    Register HRT:
    Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    Resend Service Books:
    KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    Websites can be coded to perform better with some browsers rather than others. The BB Browser can appear to websites as several different things...that setting is, from within the Browser App, (BBKey > Options > Browser Configuration > Browser Identification). Changing that to another browser might help your BB interact better with some websites. In combination with all of the other configuration settings, you need to find the combination of all of these settings that works best for the sites you are visiting. Sadly, there is no "best advice" to give as each persons needs are different. But, I typically find that changing the Browser Identification often helps -- most often by changing to FF or IE (if those are available to you...the options vary by carrier).
    Hopefully something in there will get you going again.
    Good luck!

  • Storm 9530 started freezing after 2 yrs... help!

    I have had the BB Storm 9530 on Verizon for 2 yrs. I updated to OS v 5.0 when it first came out. I close out programs & I have Quick pull to reset it every night. Just in the past 2 weeks it has started to freeze relentlessly, requiring a battery pull. When frozen during a screen saver mode, the right "return"  & red phone buttons are lit and the back light of the screen is on, but no response. If the screen is being used at the time of freeze, the buttons as above light up, as well. Sometimes it will work for an hour before freezing, sometimes only 1 minute between reset & freezing. I have, cleared the cache & temp memory, deleted all 3rd party programs & re-installed the 5.0 OS via USB connection to the PC with no improvement. Interestingly, the phone will ring and message alerts activate while it is frozen, but I cannot answer or silence the alarm.  Also when typing either txt or email there is a huge lag between type and appearance on the screen. I can type a whole sentence without it appearing, sometimes if I click on the message bar the sentence will suddenly appear, more often than not it requires a battery pull, however. At night I place it a BB dock, in the morning the clock will be frozen at a random time during the night, however the alarm will sound at the correct time (so its the screen, not the clock freezing, I assume). File free = 48507482 before battery pull & 48397366 afterwards. This all occurred with no new programs added, changes or trauma to the phone. Any help?

    gotcha, I didn't know when you did the software reload, but you did use the latest update.  Great idea of not doing the update over the air.
    What about downgrading the device software to a previous version?  You might be able to do this but I don't know what will be available in the "other versions" button in the desktop manager.  If the downgrade isn't possible or doesn't improve system performance, only other option is to get an upgraded phone.

  • My Time Capsule has stopped working.  Restoring default settings does not work.

    I have a 2TB Time Capsule (Model No. A1409).  I think that it is approximately 20 months old.  It has been working very well until around two months ago, when it began to display the flashing amber light.  At that time I performed a hard reset, restoring the default settings.  This worked and the capsule continued backing up perfectly for a further three weeks.  However, about three weeks back the flashing amber light returned.  As I have been busy elsewhere I was not able to attend to this untl recently.  It does not seem to matter how many times I reset the device, I cannot return it to a working state.
    The capsule has previously been set up to connect to the internet through my existing broadband service.  As such, it was initially set up and subsequently restored wirelessly.  I no longer seem to be able to achieve this.  Has anybody else experienced similar difficulties and if so, were you able to remedy it.
    Grateful for any advice.  I feel another trip to the Genius Bar coming on.

    Yeah absolutely - no problem.
    I had the same thing happen where I did a restore on my personal TimeCapsule (TC),
    and when I updated the device after installing it, it for some reason set the TC into bridged mode shutting off DHCP/NAT service.
    Which means, that it doesn't reserve an IP for any client trying to attach. This is what it sounds like yours is doing.
    So if you see that it says bridged, and that box with dhcp reservation is greyed out, change it from bridged to DHCP/NAT.
    This will allow any client (computer/device) to attach and reserve an IP address for access to the internet.
    Once that is set, and you update, hopefully the light should go green.
    I would also recommend checking the "internet" tab, and making sure that your IP address is assigned using DHCP. (It probably is - but that part is essential for communication with your Internet Service Provider (ISP)...
    SO - if the device goes green after the update:
    If it does, then go back into the router and click on the wireless tab and confirm your wireless settings are correct, if any changes are made, update.
    At that point, you should be able unplug your laptop to wirelessly connect to the router.

  • Problem saving Default settings - Need Help

    Hello. New user to this forum.
    I am running BB Desktop Software V. 7.1.0.41 (Bundle 42) on a Windows 7 64 bit "Ultimate" platform. I'm using a "domain" account (from Active Directory) and it has "Enterprise Administrator" rights.
    When I start BB Desktop, I click on "Tools--> Desktop Options," and then I click the "Change" button to change the "Deffault File location" for saving backup files (it defaults to "MY Documents\BlackBerry\Backup"). I change it, save it, and it changes to the new directory location I specify.  I then do my backup and sync operation, and exit the program.
    However, when I restart the program for the next backup and  sync, I find the the location has returned to the default location ("My Documents\BlackBerry\Backup") and not what I changed it to the previous session.  I change it again, and it stays changed but only for the duration of that session, If I exit the program and return to it, it goes back to the default setting...
    Is this the normal behvaior of the program? Are we not allowed to change the default backup location permanently? Or is something else stopping it from changing permanently? Perhaps a Local or domain policy setting (I dion't know if Blackberry Desktop Software is affected by these settings)...
    Any help greately appreciated. It's just a pain to have to change the location every time I enter the program.
    Thanks very much.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Hi All, this is my first post and question.
    I have LR3 running on 2 PC's. I wanted to change a couple of the default settings. On one of the PC's, I made a couple of changes and saved them using, Develop-Set Default Settings. When I restarted LR3, these changes were saved and being used. On the other PC, I did the exact same thing and when I restarted LR3, the changes had not been saved. Any idea why this may have happened?
    Is it possible that you are using a different body with your other PC.  The Develop presets are camera dependant. That's the only thing that I can think of.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Also, I am wondering about watermarks used in LR3. On one of my PC's there is a watermarks called, A Charming Font. On the other PC, in LR3, that is not am option. I really like this watermark. Can I somehow add it to the one that does not have it?
    I believe that you should find the watermark somewhere within the "Application Support (may be called something else on a PC)" folder for Lightroom. Im not sure where that would be on a PC though. Try searching on your OS (ctrl+F) for "A Charming Font."

  • Change Default settings for iCal

    My iCal seems to default to an all-day event when I try to create a new event this is annoying.
    Does anyone know how I can change the default settings?
    Thanks
    Keith

    LplateMac,
    iCal now uses data detectors to help you create new events.
    For example, you can enter “Super Bowl Party Feb 6,” “Movie with Rebecca on Friday at 7pm,” “Soccer Game on Saturday from 11am-1pm,” or “Breakfast with Jon,” and then press Return.

  • Restore default settings

    What happens when you restore factory default settings, do you lose all calender and contact info ??, does doing a restore re-install missing software??
    regards
    paulanthony

    Hi there,
    Restoring factory settings does not wipe out any user data BUT, you should always (I mean always) do a backup if you can't afford to lose any of your user data. Restoring factory settings will erase all Access Points and customised settings to the phone, amongst other things.
    A hard reset will return your phone to the factory condition, erasing ALL user data/settings, and any applications added to the device not included as part of the original firmware.
    Hope this helps.

  • Storm 9530 problem. Shutting Down on full battery

    Hi, I have a storm 9530 which has worked alright for me for a little over a year now. Then one day my phone started shutting down on me in the middle of any kind of use. To be more specific if I am on the phone making a call, I can go no longer than 10-20 minutes before my phone shuts down on me on a full battery! It will be at 100% then when I start to do things like make a phone call, or do some texting for 10-20 minutes none stop, use an app of any sort for more than 10 minutes, basically any kind of extended  use and my phone will shut down on me. Then it will start to reboot and sometimes it will turn back on but then will have only 20% battery or other times it can't even start back up until a battery pull and being plugged into a charger. Now I have my phone almost always on a charger whenever I need to use it and it is getting really annoying having it shut down all the time. The phone does get hot at times when running these apps, music, phone call etc...What is going on here?? Has my phone gone bad? Do I just need a new battery? I am running the v5.0.0.328 (platform 4.2.0.128). Please HELP!!
    Solved!

    Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    All of the diagnoses you have mentioned are possible. But, further testing is needed to determine which is correct. I suggest you find a known-good battery -- preferably one from a friend with the exact model BB you have who is not presenting these symptoms. Trade batteries. If the behavior follows the battery, then the battery is the cause and you should obtain a new one. If the behavior remains with you, then your BB is the cause...but what part of the BB is yet to be determined.
    To find out what part of the BB is the cause, there are several possible diagnostic processes you can go through. Specifically, you need to isolate if the problem is hardware or software (e.g., 3rd party app conflicts). The cleanest way to determine that is to completely replace your device OS with a new fresh copy and leave all add-ons off. Then start putting add-ons back, leaving adequate time for usage between each add-on install. Once the behavior returns, you then know your culprit.
    Hope that helps!

  • How do I return to Firefox's Default window size?

    I want to return Firefox to the default window size it had when I installed it. I know how to re-size the window with the mouse, but I want it to be exactly the same (px) every time.

    Window sizes and positions are stored in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder].
    You can delete the file or remove the current custom settings from that file to reset the window size to the default.<br />
    As an alternative you can edit or remove the main-window section in localstore.rdf if you want to keep the toolbar customization:
    <pre><nowiki>RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://browser/content/browser.xul#main-window"</nowiki></pre>

    How can I reset my Mac to default settings? Or how can I reset it to a prior date? My Mac has a virus and I would like to get rid of it. I would appreciate your help concerning this matter.

    To restore it follow these instructions: What to do before selling or giving away your Mac.
    Before you do the above check out the following;
    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
    If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide, AdwareMedic, or Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac - Apple Support.
    Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
    The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
    Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
    Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
    Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
    If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
    This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

  • Blackberry storm 9530

    has anyone every had trouble going to app world and having to sign in on your blackberry email account and having an error message come up stating that "unable to validate the email address and password combination. (error id: 30601)"? it to update app world and I keep getting this message.

    Please explain exactly what you need for your Storm 9530.
    Do you have the BIS BlackBerry Data Plan on your mobile provider account?
    Do you know that the 9530 model BlackBerry were built specically for two USA carriers, Sprint and Verizon?
    >> ALSO: You have your mobile phone number listed as your "My Mobile Provider" or carrier. Putting your phone number out on the internet on these public forums for the world to see, is not wise. To change that, at the top of this page click on My Settings > Personal Profile > Personal Information, and in the entry block for "Carrier" type the name of your mobile provider.

  • The default settings

    So my macbook pro screen after disconnecting it from the tv, did not return to its normal screen settings. I put it on 1280X800 Millions, but I don't know if that's the right setting. It still looks off. I don't have time machine set up to revert back to the setting, so help is appreciated. My screen is 15 inches.

    Most default to 1440 x 900. If you cannot change it normally, then try resetting the PRAM, but allow it to cycle five times before releasing the keys.

  • Storm 9530 Freezing up

    Hello,
    I have a BlackBerry Storm 9530 device. This is my second of the same device, first dying to the same exact thing. As far as I can tell nothing has damaged the phone, it has not been exposed to water or dropped, it appears that the problems more or less come from it heating up in my pocket.
    The first phone I had broke after about 10 months, and by broke I mean the touch screen became less and less responsive over the last month of its life. It began with slow reaction, then spread to when I tried to hit 'W' it would hit 'delete' and erase entire messages. It got to the point where I basically could not use the touch screen, aka the entire phone since its a touch screen device. So, I went to verizon in store and was told it was a faulty phone, I was sent a new phone and I returned my original phone.
    About 9 months later, exact same problem, no water damage/fall damage, screen is slow and unresponsive. Takes up to 10 minutes to send a simple text message. I went in to the store this time to see what my options to be told, a) my warranty is out on the phone, and b) the insurance i've been paying for this whole time basically means if I want another phone I have to pay 90 dollars for it.
    Are these really my only options? I can't just have a very faulty phone, or what basically seems to be a device that should not have been released in th first place, replaced? Its either pay the same price I'd pay to upgrade to a new phone, or settle with sending text messages 10 minutes at a time? This seems a little ridiculous. I can't afford to upgrade right now, although I'd love to get my hands on a new android phone, but as of right now I can't do that, and paying 90 dollars just to get the same crappy phone back seems a little ridiculous. I'm just curious as to if this is the correct policy or not.
    Thank you in advance,
    Jim

    Hi. Do you power your phone off every day?  Also, do you clean the cache, cookies, and history regularly? This would really help.  Powering off your phone once a day and cleaning the cache, cookies, and history once or twice a month would speed up the device.  Below I have provided you with the steps to do this.
    * Open your web browser.
    * Select [Menu]
    * Select [Options]
    * Select [Cache Operations]
    * Select [Clear History]
    * Clear [Content Cache], [Pushed Content], and [Cookie Cache]
    * Once this is completed, remove the back and the battery from the phone for about 20 seconds and put back together.
    I hope this information is helpful.
    Thank you,

  • Why does iTunes keeps resetting itself to default settings randomly??

    Downloaded three upgrades so far, and sometimes I turn on my computer to find that iTunes has all default settings, forgotten my library's name and lists.
    Upgrading/reinstalling did not solve the issue. It really ****** me off to "reprogram" the iTunes to my liking every other time I open it.
    No error messages or windows, no warnings, just freshly new every time.
    Anyone experiencing this? What can be done?

    Unfortunately, I can't offer any solution because I'm experiencing the same kind of trouble. Please help us! It would be greatly appreciated.
