Reverse Engineering using Desinger 6i
Hi,
I am using Oracle8i database. My database is already designed
and developed. Now, I want to use Designer6i and want to reverse
engineer my database. I have installed Designer6i successfully.
But I am not finding option how to capture server model and ER
Diagram into my repository from existing database.
Please reply ASAP,
Thanks & regards,
Bhavesh Doshi
Hi,
Go to the Design Editor an select the option:
Generate->Capture Design Of-> Server Model
Here specify the Source as Database and give UserID/Password@conn
along with Target Container and a Database(if none present, then
create one using the DB Admin Tab). After this go to the objects
Tab and Select all definitions(tables, procedures, etc.) which you
want to bring to Designer and press start. This will bring your
database to designer.
Further, if you want to create entities for these tables you have
just captured, go to ER Diagrammer,Select
Utilities->Tables to Entity Retrofit, press Candidate Tables
followed by Retrofit.
This will do the job.

Reverse engineering using Flat file
Hello,
Can someone help me please.
My environment,
I am new to ODI and trying to work with it.
My source DB = FLAT FILE
Target DB = MySQL5.1
I created a new project and models. I have the physical and logical architecture and all the connections are working. In the physical architecture, I specified the path of the csv file as c:\textfile.csv
I created a new model and a data store and pointed the the file to above directory and file.
When I click on reverse in column tab, it says
ERROR: The directory c:\textfile.csv specified in your schema, does not exist.
I am unable to figure out the problem. Can someone help me please.
Thank you.

Thank you.
I was able to solve the error for the file loading, now i have used the lkm as file to sql and LKM sql control append, it says execution session started, but when i go to operator, it fails at Load and gives an error:

Thanks for any lightDear Expert
Still facing this problem.
I did several tests, changing flexfields in physical topology and the parameters of RKM.
But the result is always the same.
What else could do.
The doubt remains.
Should be poss edit details.

I can not enter values in JDBC because the JDBC option is not active.
Any light, suggestion or critics is welcome.
Also I have a SR open with serveridade 1 in orcl.

Using Designer to perform reverse engineering for Adabas entities
Hi Experts,
Customer will migrate from Adabas to Oracle db. Is it possible to use designer to perform reverse engineering for entities of Adabas?
Thanks for your help in advance.
QueenieIf there is an ODBC driver for Adabas, it MAY be possible, though I have never had an Adabas database to try it on. I know that Adabas isn't natively a relational database using SQL, which is what Designer's Design Capture utility expects, so it will work through ODBC or not at all.

I can see the table I want to reverse from when going into the the tab "Selective Reverse" but it the reverse fails with the error message above.
I would really appreciate any help on this topic. I am using MYSQL Server 5.1 and ODI 10.1.3.5.
Thanks in advance
PeterHello,
it seems to be working now. The only change I did was to increase the java heap size, but it feels a bit strange that it should have anything to do with the problem in question.
Anyway thanks very much for your help.

AbhiHi,
Under the readme eRPI : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/readme/erpi_1112200_readme.html
I find this :
ODI Setup Steps to Integrate with Financial Management
To setup the ODI to integrate with Financial Management:
Rename odiparams.bat located at <ODI_HOME>\oracledi\agent\bin to odiparams.bat.backup.
The default installation location is C:\app\Oracle\product\11.1.1\Oracle_ODI_1.
Download Oracle Data Integrator Companion CD 11.1.1.6.2.
Unzip the contents of the Companion CD to the temp directory.
Unzip oracledi-agent-standalone.zip.
Copy the contents to: <ODI_HOME>.
Make a backup of the HFMDriver.DLL.
For the 32 bit operating system, copy HFMDriver32_11.1.2.2.dll as HFMDriver.DLL.
For the 64bit operating system, copy HFMDriver64_11.1.2.2.dll as HFMDriver.DLL.
Rename odiparams.bat.backup from Step 1 to odiparams.
Edit the PATH to include: <ODI_HOME>\oracledi.sdk\lib
Restart the ODI Agent.
I try this procedure, but now, I have a new error :
- Unable to connect on "myhfmserver" with "admin" user
I think that, there is another step to do, because now HFM 11.1.2.2 use directly the "EPM Registry" (into Shared Services Schema) to retreive the HFM servers ou Clusters.
But I don't find any information, how to setup this part into ODI.
Or may be, we need to setup "Regedit Keys" into Windows registry like previous HFM release ?
If you have any news, please inform me -
Unable to generate Logical Model Diagrams through Reverse Engineering
Hi,
I am currently using SQL Developer Data Modeler Version-3.0.04.
I have generated Logical Model Diagrams from Relational Model Diagrams through Reverse Engineering (Done by pressing an" engineer to Logical Model button" on top panel of sql developer) .I saved the DMD file (source file) once i had done generating the logical diagrams. Now if i reopen the DMD and open the logical diagram again I found that most of the tables had lost their relationships. So i tried to regenerate the Logical Model Diagram again from the same Relational Diagram but it is not being generated unless i create a new Relational Diagram. Is there a way to generate multiple Logical Diagrams for the same Relational Diagram rather than creating a new one for each Logical Diagram to be created.
Regards .
Thanks in advance.Any comments on this issue?. Please let us know.

Error in Reverse Engineering an XML file
I am tring to set up ODI to read and XML file and post it to a DB.
I am using Oracle Data Integrator 10.1.3.5
I have set up the Connection in the Topology Manager and when I ran the Test it returned OK.
I went to the Model tab in the Designer and tried to Reverse engineer the file. I followed the instruction int he User's Guide but I get an error:
The Technology or the Driver used doesn not support Reverse Engineering. The User's guide says you can do it, but Designer tells me I can't.
Has anyone received this error before and how can i get around it.
I am using:
com.sunopsis.jdbc.driver.xml.SnpsXmlDriver
as the JDBC Driver. THat is the one used in the guide and example.
JDBC URL:

ANN: Reverse-engineering tool from Logic Explorers Inc.
Logic Explorers Inc. announces the beginning of the beta program for the CodeLogic
reverse-engineering and code analysis tool. CodeLogic is implemented as a plugin
for JBuilder, JDeveloper, and the standalone application. Among the major features:
- Analyses any Java source code
- Fully automatic generation of interactive UML Class and Sequence (sic!) diagrams
- Unique Execution Flow diagram
- Unique Variables Backtrack diagrams
- Graphical Code Navigator
- Zoom and filters
- Intelligent Diff utility
- Knowledge Base
To get more information, visit Logic Explorers Inc at
http://www.logicexplorers.comI would go with the Forms-Builder itself. If you want to analyze the code and see what action is done at which point, its best to do this in the tool where you developed the application. (You also wouldn't analyze a .Net-application using Notepad ;) )

I am using SQL Data Modeller to reverse engineer an Oracle database to produce a diagram for a data model that was made a while back now. I created the diagram successfully and was very pleased with the results and the process.
However, since creating that initial diagram the data model has again changed and I would like the recent changes to be reflected in the relational model I created in SQL Data Modeller.
Is there an easy way to update the model? I click File > Import > Data Dictionary (which is the original method I used) I followed the steps and was presented with a list of changes and asked to merge into the model. This seemed fine. However the new tables were not added to the diagram and when I dragged them on to the diagram from the list of tables I was not shown the relationships?
How can I easily added these new tables to the model?
Thanks, MikeCheck to see if the FKs between the tables you are referring to were captured in the reverses engineering. If they were, they would appear on the diagram when you drag in the new tables. If they were not captured, make sure they actually exisit in the database.
I beleive that in order to capture a FK in the reverse engineering you must select both tables to be captured. If you only selected the "new" table, I do not think the FKs will come in but rather only the table structure, PK, and indexes on that table. -
ODI 11g - SQL Server reverse engineering - no objects
Hi,
I'm using ODI 11g and I created the logical and physical schema and then a Model. When I reverse engineering it nothing appears under the model node. Is there any log that ODI provides, to check it? A very quick window appears and disappears so I'm not sure what's happening.
Thank youFacing same problem, how you fixed it?

RegardsHi
Pl. use Return Purchase Order process, transaction code ME21N
At the item details, look for the Return columns and tick it.
MIGO_GR - Goods Receipt for Return Purchase Order
Movement type will be 161 to deduct the stock and 162 for reversal.
During Goods Receipt for Return Purchase Order, you do not have to change the movement type from 101 to 161 as the system will automatically assign the movement type to 161 upon saving the postings.
However, before saving, check if there is a tick in the Return Column to ensure that it is a return Purchase Order.
you can also do the outbound delivery ..
Outbound delivery with VL01n and do shipment with VT01N by referencing to the Out bound delivery.
I hope this helps,
if found usefull pl . award points

Data Modeler : Generate direct to a schema / Reverse engineering
Hi everybody,
I searched for informations in the help but I didn't found any interesting information.
I would like to know :
- If it's possible to generate the relation model directly to a schema? If yes, where can I found documentation?
- Is it possible to create some scripts with reverse engineering (as Designer)?
Thanks in advance!Hi Cedric,
If it's possible to generate the relation model directly to a schema?no
Is it possible to create some scripts with reverse engineeringYou can generate DDL script for objects in relational and physical model - press "Generate DDL" icon when you are in relational model or use "File>Export>DDL File".
You also can generate "alter statements" when you compare relational model to database, DDL files or another design.
You can look at available demonstrations http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/datamodeler/overview/index.html

Reverse Engineering huge database
Hi,
Iam trying to reverse engineer (using oracle designer) a huge database ( more than 1,000 tables and forms & reports ) developed using forms & reports - 9i.
Being a new to oracle designer, (through internet study) I was able to do reverse engineer for small database and could create only ER-diagrams. but I really don't have any idea, how to handle a huge database.
So please, if any one have an idea about reverse engineering a existing database kindly answer the below questions....
1. How to import entire database to repository?.
2. What is the best way to import the huge database, importing entire database at once or in parts ??
3. We can do reverse engineer and create ER-Diagram from existing database. but I need to create Process diagram and Dataflow diagram also, Is there any way to create this 2 diagrams automatically just like ER-diagram from existing database ??
4. How to import all forms & reports to repository at once. How to create Process diagram and Dataflow diagram from forms and reports ?
Thanking You

LokeshMy advise is DON'T. Don't try to reverse engineer the whole application in one fell swoop.
Instead decide what parts of the application do you need to work with RIGHT NOW, and reverse engineer those parts. There are no applications that use ALL of the tables in a single form or related set of forms. In fact, I'll bet that 90% of your application uses only 10% of the tables. You may even decide that you NEVER need to reverse engineer the other 90%.
In deciding what to bring into Designer, simply ask yourself, "Why am I doing this?". If you don't plan to re-design, re-write, do major maintenance, or otherwise change the table, form, or report, skip it for now. If you need it to help understand the parts of the database that you DO plan to change, then MAYBE you want to reverse engineer it soon. Otherwise, leave it on the "to-be-done" list, and don't fret too much if you don't get to it. Believe me, if you really need it, you WILL get to it. -
Reverse Engineering of Essbase cube failing
Installed ODI version 10.1.3.4.0 for Windows.
Dowloaded and installed the Oracle Data Integrator Knowledge Module for Essbase Release 9.3.1.1 Installation files
1) Created the physical schema, logical schema and associated a context with the logical schema for Essbase Server
2) Created a Project. Imported the RKM Hyperion Essbase KM
3) Created a Model Folder and Model. Tried to do Reverse engineering to create the model. But the dimensions of the cube are not being generated in the model.
4) The operator -> All executions log displays the following error
org.apache.bsf.BSFException: exception from Jython: Traceback (innermost last):
File "<string>", line 3, in ?
ImportError: No module named hyperion

Thanks.Hi ,
I am trying to install ODI using your blog, I'm also using sql server 2005, I copied sqljdbc.jar in the drivers folder of ODI, but I didn't have crimnson.jar file(which is there in your folder).. I tried to create master repository.. I selected
Driver: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver (I selected --Microsoft sql server 2000 driver for JDBC)
URL : jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1026;SelectMethod=cursordatabaseName:Master_Rep
User: sa
password: ******
My sql server is listening on port 1026 (I checked it)
Here I am not sure
1) JDBC was installed properly or not
2) and please let me know Driver and uRL are correct..
I want to know ..is this is JDBC Problem or Driver and url address problem.
