How to do reverse engineering to a sybase model?

Hi,
I´m new with sybase ase technology and i don´t now how to create a sybase model in ODI. I´m alredy created the data server and logical schema in topology manager but when i try to do the reverse engineering on designer module i can´t see the tables. What are the requirements for do this?
Help me please!!!

Hi
Pl. use Return Purchase Order process, transaction code ME21N
At the item details, look for the Return columns and tick it.
MIGO_GR - Goods Receipt for Return Purchase Order
Movement type will be 161 to deduct the stock and 162 for reversal.
During Goods Receipt for Return Purchase Order, you do not have to change the movement type from 101 to 161 as the system will automatically assign the movement type to 161 upon saving the postings.
However, before saving, check if there is a tick in the Return Column to ensure that it is a return Purchase Order.
you can also do the outbound delivery ..
Outbound delivery with VL01n and do shipment with VT01N by referencing to the Out bound delivery.
I hope this helps,
if found usefull pl . award points
Thanks

    Hi ,
I am trying to install ODI using your blog, I'm also using sql server 2005, I copied sqljdbc.jar in the drivers folder of ODI, but I didn't have crimnson.jar file(which is there in your folder).. I tried to create master repository.. I selected
Driver: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver (I selected --Microsoft sql server 2000 driver for JDBC)
    URL : jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1026;SelectMethod=cursordatabaseName:Master_Rep
    User: sa
    password: ******
My sql server is listening on port 1026 (I checked it)
    Here I am not sure
    1) JDBC was installed properly or not
    2) and please let me know Driver and uRL are correct..
I want to know ..is this is JDBC Problem or Driver and url address problem.

  • How do I protect and embedded database from reverse engineering, hackers?

    Hello,
I have an application that needs to be shipped to the customers with an embedded database that consists of critical application dependent data. The problem is that this data is top-secret information that for no reason should get in the hands of someone else because all the company value lies in this data. So my question is:
How can I protect this data that are being shipped embedded in the application from hackers, reverse engineering etc? Is it even possible?
Or is it secure enough to have the database credentials stored in the source code? Can reverse engineering get these credentials from the compiled application?

  • How to identifiy Faulty Driver in Boot Image (Reverse Engineering of Adding a Driver to Boot Image)

    Hello SCCM'lovers
I'm having a new EliteBook 820 G2 here which Fails PXE boot due to a false corrupted
Intel Advanced Network Service Virtual Adapter-Driver.
The PROBLEM now is how to determine under Boot Images - Properties - Drivers ... the correct one.
    (see pic)
Over the months, I injected different ones. smsts.log indicates me that this driver is the problem but how can I reverse engineer it to find the correct version/timestamp whatever it on my DP

in theory at least there is a way.
The driver loading in windows will select the best driver based on the PNP-id, version of driver, if it's signed and so on.
you can find the PNP deviceID for that hardware on a installed system by looking in device manager.
After that you can follow the same rules that the system uses to determine which driver it would load by reading the inf files for each driver.
Would it be faster to just create a new one - most likely.
I also would recommend that you create a dedicated driver folder and category  in SCCM for WinPE and only add the drivers you need. I prefer to use Original vendor drivers here (aka nicdrivers straight from Intel instead of DELL or HP or ... repackaged

    Hi,
Under the readme eRPI : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/readme/erpi_1112200_readme.html
    I find this :
ODI Setup Steps to Integrate with Financial Management
To setup the ODI to integrate with Financial Management:
    Rename odiparams.bat located at <ODI_HOME>\oracledi\agent\bin to odiparams.bat.backup.
The default installation location is C:\app\Oracle\product\11.1.1\Oracle_ODI_1.
Download Oracle Data Integrator Companion CD 11.1.1.6.2.
Unzip the contents of the Companion CD to the temp directory.
    Unzip oracledi-agent-standalone.zip.
    Copy the contents to: <ODI_HOME>.
Make a backup of the HFMDriver.DLL.
For the 32 bit operating system, copy HFMDriver32_11.1.2.2.dll as HFMDriver.DLL.
For the 64bit operating system, copy HFMDriver64_11.1.2.2.dll as HFMDriver.DLL.
Rename odiparams.bat.backup from Step 1 to odiparams.
Edit the PATH to include: <ODI_HOME>\oracledi.sdk\lib
    Restart the ODI Agent.
I try this procedure, but now, I have a new error :
    - Unable to connect on "myhfmserver" with "admin" user
I think that, there is another step to do, because now HFM 11.1.2.2 use directly the "EPM Registry" (into Shared Services Schema) to retreive the HFM servers ou Clusters.
But I don't find any information, how to setup this part into ODI.
Or may be, we need to setup "Regedit Keys" into Windows registry like previous HFM release ?
If you have any news, please inform me

I am using Oracle Data Integrator 10.1.3.5
I have set up the Connection in the Topology Manager and when I ran the Test it returned OK.
I went to the Model tab in the Designer and tried to Reverse engineer the file. I followed the instruction int he User's Guide but I get an error:
The Technology or the Driver used doesn not support Reverse Engineering. The User's guide says you can do it, but Designer tells me I can't.
Has anyone received this error before and how can i get around it.
    I am using:

  • Reverse engineering in Java Studio Enterprise 8.1

I tried to do the reverse engineering in Java Studio Enterprise 8.1.
The Reverse Engineering process launches which I can tell from the output log,
but I didn't see any diagram generated. What could be the problem?
    Thanks!

to see if the relationships are in the model, try to expand the class and interface nodes and they should have something like the following. If these are absent, there might be something in the reverse engineering process that lost the relationships.
    - package1
    - class1
    - Relationships
    - Implementation
    + interface1
    - package2
    - interface1
    - Relationships
    - Implementation
    + class1
As for sequence diagram, not sure how you created it. If you just cdfs the classes, you should not see any message except for the lifelines that represent the classes. If you select an operation of a class to do cdfs or reverse engineer operation, the sequence diagram will be generated.

  • Reverse Engineering a Model

I am using SQL Data Modeller to reverse engineer an Oracle database to produce a diagram for a data model that was made a while back now. I created the diagram successfully and was very pleased with the results and the process.
However, since creating that initial diagram the data model has again changed and I would like the recent changes to be reflected in the relational model I created in SQL Data Modeller.
Is there an easy way to update the model? I click File > Import > Data Dictionary (which is the original method I used) I followed the steps and was presented with a list of changes and asked to merge into the model. This seemed fine. However the new tables were not added to the diagram and when I dragged them on to the diagram from the list of tables I was not shown the relationships?
How can I easily added these new tables to the model?
    Thanks, Mike

Check to see if the FKs between the tables you are referring to were captured in the reverses engineering. If they were, they would appear on the diagram when you drag in the new tables. If they were not captured, make sure they actually exisit in the database.
I beleive that in order to capture a FK in the reverse engineering you must select both tables to be captured. If you only selected the "new" table, I do not think the FKs will come in but rather only the table structure, PK, and indexes on that table.

  • ODI 11g - SQL Server reverse engineering - no objects

    Hi,
I'm using ODI 11g and I created the logical and physical schema and then a Model. When I reverse engineering it nothing appears under the model node. Is there any log that ODI provides, to check it? A very quick window appears and disappears so I'm not sure what's happening.
    Thank you

Facing same problem, how you fixed it?
    Thanks in advance

  • Reverse Engineering huge database

    Hi,
Iam trying to reverse engineer (using oracle designer) a huge database ( more than 1,000 tables and forms & reports ) developed using forms & reports - 9i.
Being a new to oracle designer, (through internet study) I was able to do reverse engineer for small database and could create only ER-diagrams. but I really don't have any idea, how to handle a huge database.
So please, if any one have an idea about reverse engineering a existing database kindly answer the below questions....
    1. How to import entire database to repository?.
    2. What is the best way to import the huge database, importing entire database at once or in parts ??
    3. We can do reverse engineer and create ER-Diagram from existing database. but I need to create Process diagram and Dataflow diagram also, Is there any way to create this 2 diagrams automatically just like ER-diagram from existing database ??
    4. How to import all forms & reports to repository at once. How to create Process diagram and Dataflow diagram from forms and reports ?
    Thanking You
    regards,
    Lokesh

My advise is DON'T. Don't try to reverse engineer the whole application in one fell swoop.
Instead decide what parts of the application do you need to work with RIGHT NOW, and reverse engineer those parts. There are no applications that use ALL of the tables in a single form or related set of forms. In fact, I'll bet that 90% of your application uses only 10% of the tables. You may even decide that you NEVER need to reverse engineer the other 90%.
In deciding what to bring into Designer, simply ask yourself, "Why am I doing this?". If you don't plan to re-design, re-write, do major maintenance, or otherwise change the table, form, or report, skip it for now. If you need it to help understand the parts of the database that you DO plan to change, then MAYBE you want to reverse engineer it soon. Otherwise, leave it on the "to-be-done" list, and don't fret too much if you don't get to it. Believe me, if you really need it, you WILL get to it.

  • Unable to apply reverse engineering to dbf file

    Hello everyone,
We are new to ODI and struggling to understand whether we are making an error or we are actually facing an issue with a .dbf file.
    Some details for everyone:
    - ODI version: 10.1.3.4.0
    - Platform: Win Server 2003 sp2
    - File we wish to load: xyz.dbf, where xyz.dbf is one of the 3 output files (xyz.shp, xyz.shx, xyz.dbf) of an ESRI geographic information systems software
    - We are not interested in the other .shp and .shx files but just in the .dbf one: hence we are treating this one as a stand-alone .dbf file.
Given the above elements, we have executed the following:
    a. Created an ODBC entry using the "Microsoft dbase Driver for dbf files" vs. the relevant directory storing the .dbf file (as well as the .shp, .shx);
    b. Used Topology Manager --> "Dbase" technology to build the relevant Data Server, Physical Schema and Logical Schema.
--- Up to this point when we test the connectivity to the .dbf file we have absolutely NO problems. ---
We have then proceeded in Designer:
    c. Creating an appropriate Model vs. the Logical Schema introduced at point b.
    d. Attempting the reverse-engineering process.
At this point however the "reverse engineering" has not performed what expected, as
    1. it has correctly introduced in Designer a datastore corresponding to the desired .dbf file, but
    2. it has not created any columns at all for the datastore, without producing any error message.
Additionally, clicking on the datastore just created and selecting from it the "reverse" option in the "columns" tab, an error window is retrieved: "java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC dBase Driver]Invalid string or buffer length".
At this point we are struggling to understand how to proceed further: shall we use a different ODBC driver/is this an error un-related to the ODBC driver we used/shall we use a different technology in consideration of the fact this .dbf file is not a stand-alone one but comes with .shp and .shx as well/anything else?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi CTS,
First, thanks for your help - much appreciated.
However, we just tried to reverse the .dbf as you suggested using the custom reverse engineering via RKM SQL (Jython) module.
First two steps (1 - Reset Metadata, 2 - Create Jython Classes) worked OK, but third failed with the same error mentioned in the first thread:
    Operator log details:

  • ODI Reverse-Engineering Question

We've been using ODI 10.3.5.1 for about a year now. The current load process was set up for us during implementation of Hyperion Planning. We are now trying to add a new dimension to our hierarchy, and I mistakenly went in and added the columns manually to all the models I could think of. I also added the columns into the source and target datastores in the interfaces manually.
Naturally, the load did not work. I keep getting the error "invalid column name 'Cost_Center'. I have been told by the installer (over email) that i should have reverse-engineered the models, and let the program build all the datastores. I tried to do the reverse-engineering, and am now getting an error for the HYP_PLANNING model, and the HYP_ESSBASE model runs and runs and runs, without doing anything noticeable.
How long should a reversal run? I don't believe our hierarchy is extraordinarily huge.
This is all in the TEST environment right now, but I need to put things in LIVE for August financials, so I have until 9/9/09 to figure this stuff out. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the quick response.
Like I said, it was done by the consultant, so I don't even know what an agent is.

What version (or build) of UML are you using? You can find out by going Tools->Module Manager, find a uml module under UML category, right click on the module and bring up Properties, build number is listed under "Expert" section. What's your system platform? JDK?
In step 9, is the target uml project selected? Do you have other uml projects open at the same time?

  • PD 16.5 SP03 PL03 slowness after reverse engineering

    Little background:
We were using PD 16.5 SP03 PL01 and faced a lot of problems like error messages, exception error, slowness etc. I was recommended on this forum to apply patch PL03 to solve the problems. I have applied the patch PL03.
    Current Problems:
    (1) When we try to reverse engineer even one single table, first PD becomes very slow and if we don't save and continue to work, we will get 'PDShell not working' message and PD will just shut down.
It doesn't matter how big the table is, it might have 30 columns or it might have 100 columns. It definitely becomes very slow once reverse engineering has been done.
    (2) If we are creating a new entity in LDM or a table in PDM and we are working on it for some time meaning adding 30 attributes. After a while, it will fail to save and you have to restart PD. If you are working on existing model, doing some modification work then it's fine. But the moment you start adding entities/tables, attributes/columns, it will fail to save eventually so we have to be careful all the time and to save frequently i.e. after adding 3-4 attributes/columns, because we know at some point it is going to fail saving and we will have to restart PD and that is very time consuming.
I was hoping the latest patch PL03 would have solved these problems. We have a couple of other colleagues facing the same problems, so it's just not me.
P.S.: We are using Teradata V14 and PD version is 16.5.3.3 and it's 32-bit.
Is there any solution for this problem? Is it a common problem?
    Thanks,
    Perry.

    Thank you Benoit!
    Downloading now.
Btw. concerning the PD crashes: it turned out to be a problem with hardware accelerated graphics.
I ran PD from a Windows Virtual Machine using VMWare Fusion.
VMWare Fusion supports hardware accelerated graphics in the VM - if and only if you the VMWare tools running inside the VM are properly corresponding to the VMWare Fusion version hosting the VM.
For me this was not the case, since the VMWare tools did not properly auto-update.
As a result, with 3D hardware acceleration activated in the VMWare Fusion Settings, every program that potentially makes use of hardware accelerated graphics (PD, Visio, Internet Explorer etc.) crashed.
Not sure this helps anyone out there. But if you are facing PD crashes and also face crashes of other programs like Internet Explorer or Visio, malfunctioning hardware acceleration might be the cause of it.
    Cheers,
    Florian
