Revert RDI file forms to SAPScript format

Hi Gurus,
We are currently implementing a change on how the forms are to be processed. Currently, the forms are in SAP but being pushed to Streamserve application for layouting and formatting. The way it is triggered is that from SAP, it triggers an RDI file to be sent to the Streamserve application for layouting before it is being sent to output device.
And now we want to change it by getting rid of application and have the SAPScript format the forms. Have read some documentation onf converting SAPScript to RDI file. Is there links/documentation on how to do the reverse side? Any information you can share on how to go about it?
Thanks a lot!
Napoleon

Hi Christian, Sandra,
Thanks for the reply. We understand that any output layouts will be lost, but that's ok. Our intention is now to process the layouting of forms from an external application to push it back to a SAP based solution via SapScript. In this way, we get rid of the external apps and its associated cost, in turn, drive some efficiency in the IT process.
Do you know how to disregard the RDI settings?
Cheers,
Nap

  • RDI File to be generated with SAP Script

    Hello ,
We need to generate RDI file for a SAP Script in transaction VA11.Please can  anyone let me know do we have to do the settings through configuration or programmatically in the SAP Script.
    Regards
    Amruta Prayagi

    Hi Amruta,
i was just describing what is usually done for invoices, purchase orders ...etc.
Get the aid of a functional. He will know the right place in parametrization where one can assing the print program to the sapscript form.
    Thus you will have:
1.- one standard program assigned to one standard sapscript form
2.- one Z program (copy of the standard one) assigned to one Z sapscript form (copy of the standard one but with the RDI settings)
He will know as well how to create a message class for each one of the sapscripts.
    Thus you will have:
1.- one message class for the standard program and sapscript
2.- one message class for the Z program and the Z sapscript.
Have a look at the output of an invoice or a purchase order because it can provide you a clearer idea.
When you want to get the output you´d need to choose between the different outputs formerly described.
You cannot have both at the same time.
You can have a pdf or a fax or an RDI or an ordinary spool but one by one, that is, (re)processing the message as muck as you like.
    Hope to have somehow helped.
    Best regards.

  • Transferring data in RDI file

    Hi,
In the Payment Run how can the data be transferred to RDI file. Will it be a part of standard SAP functionality once we select RDI as format in SAPscript Output or we need to make changes in any function module to transfer the required data in RDI file.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rishi
Edited by: Rishis on Jan 28, 2010 6:08 AM

    Hi Pablo,
You can either export the data from one application to a flat file and then upload it to the destination through DM packages or you can do this directly in the SQL. In both the cases, you need to make sure that the source and destination application has the same structure.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is it possible to generate oracle forms in pdf format

I have to generate a form in pdf format. Is it possible.
If yes, how to achieve this.
    Thank you very much.
    Navya.

One round about way to get a pdf screen shot is tick 'print to file' and use a printer which is set up with a postcript driver. This gives a postscript file which can be converted to pdf using 'ghostscript and gsview' (available free from gnu via various sites).

  • I want to have users submit the form in PDF format but it doesn't work using the email submit button

    Hi all,
I have a form that I want to be returned to a specific email address as a PDF File. This is so that reservations people can open the pdf, and extract the information from it. Keeping it as a PDF will allow them to easily read and use the form.
When I use the "Add and Email Submit button" approach, as outlined in the "How to" area, everything works fine, except that the format of the submitted file is in xml, not Pdf which is what I need it in.
I then tried adding a Button to the document from the Library, and set it's "Control Type" to "Submit". This provided me with the submit sub-tab, where I set the "Submit Format" to PDF. In the "Submit to Url", I entered the following - "mailto:[email protected]" (without the quotes)
The first approach works, but is not in the PDF format that I need (I believe).
The second approach keeps giving the following error when one selects the submit button - "This operation is not permitted".
We use Lotus Notes (yes, I know...not my favorite either, and it may be the problem here).
Any help that might be provided is greatly appreciated!!
    Rob

Thanks, but, using the "free" version of Reader, there is no opportunity to open nor import the xml data - the menu options do not exist - there is no import listed.
If we try to open the xml file directly, then we get an error - something to the effect of "unsupported file type, or the file is corrupted".
I just noticed in my Pro version that there is the command File ->Form Data ->Import Data to Form... command. Is this what you are referring to?
What do you recommend? Perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to purchase a few copies of Acrobat Pro for the reservations people to use? I was hoping that the free version of reader would do it, but perhaps not?
    Thanks again,
    Rob

  • When calling report from forms, only html format report can show chinese characters

    To all experts,
When I run report by calling run_report_object() in forms, only html format can show chinese characters. If I choose pdf format, garbage characters were shown instead of chinese characters. My settings on server are as follows:
    NLS_LANG=TRADITIONAL CHINESE_HONG KONG.UTF8
    FORMS60_REPFORMAT=PDF
Do you know why? I hope to print report in PDF format as PDF turned out to be more regular in format. Is there any additional settings required?
May experts here broaden my mind?
    Richard

You have two different ways of generating Japanese PDF files from Reoprts. One is font aliasing and the other is font subsetting.
    <font aliasing>
You will need to have the following entries in uiprint.txt (example).
    [ PDF ]
    .....JA16SJIS = "KozMinPro-Regular-Acro"
    "MS UI Gothic".....JA16SJIS = "KozMinPro-Regular-Acro"
You may need to download and install Japanese Font Pack from Adobe's web site (if your Acrobat is non-Japanese version).
    <font subsetting>
You will need to add C:\WINNT\Fonts (or wherever your TTF/TTC fonts are installed) to your REPORTS_PATH.
You will also need to have the following entries in uiprint.txt (example).
    [ PDF:Subset ]
    "Andale Duospace WT J" = "Aduoj.ttf"
    "Albany WT J"="AlbanWTJ.ttf"
    "MS UI Gothic" = "msgothic.ttc"

  • Field names with now values behind are written to RDI-File?

    Dear experts,
I have a question concerning the RDI file format.
The specification of RDI file said the following about the structure of each RDI file
"field name" is placed in position                 :        104
"field length" indicator is placed in position :        235 - 237
"field value" is placed in position                 :        241     Specified by u2018field length indicatoru2019
In addition I got the information, that even if there is no field value for a specific field name. That the field name and also the length of the field will be displayed in the RDI file.
Now I generated an RDI file and I see that only these field (name, position, value) are displayed in RDI which have a value. Fields which contains no value are not displayed!
In conclusion, my first question would be if its correct that field names and also the lengths are everys time displayed in RDI even if there is no value for it?
If this is true,  the second question would be: Whatr could be the reason that the field names are not in the RDI file when there is no value for it.
Thanks in advance for any helpful answers

Have some photos of a warehouse fire in Plymouth Indiana.  Files were saved as .jpg  Can't get them to open.

    Help Please

As has been suggested above, I would explore Opening the files in another program first, and if successful, just doing a Save_As from that program.
I do not know how sensitive Paint might be, but Ps really wants the JPEG header info to be well-formed. I often encounter JPEG errors in Ps, and my first stop is to IrfanView (free), or ThumbsPlus (commercial), as both seem much more lenient with JPEG's. I have only had a few files, that nothing on my computer would open. I assume that they were just too corrupt.
With either my IrfanView, or ThumbsPlus, when Opened, I do a Save_As, and choose a low compression/high-quality JPEG. If you other program supports Save_As PSD, that would be my # 1 choice, and keep JPEG out of the mix from that point on.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • "could not be handled because Pages cannot open files in the "data" format."

I cannot open some files from at least two different friends.   the message that I get is "could not be handled because Pages cannot open files in the “data” format.”.
    I have OSX 10.9.2
I have the latest version of Pages 5.2
Any help is appreciated. I'd like to be able to open files. Thank you.

Could your friend possibly be using a Mac running OS 9?
Or one of the early versions of OSX?
They are the only Systems I know of that don't have file extensions on the files, because they used data forks in the file, something Apple eventually abandoned, in the interests of compatiblity with Windows and UNIX generally.
I had a look AmigaOS also had a form of file and resource separation, in which the main file does not have an extension.

  • Difference between HR Forms Smartforms sapscript and PE51

    Hai all,
Could anyone give me the exact difference between HR Forms Smartforms sapscript and PE51.
    Thanks in advance,
    S.Jenibalet.

    HR Forms
The Layout Editor can be used is Adobe Designing tool or Smart form Tool.
The HR Forms Workplace (which will be called the Forms Workplace from now
on) will enable you in future to create flexible reports with an attractive layout for HR master data,
personnel time data, and payroll results.
    Smartforms
SMARTFORMS as the SAPScript successor tool is also used to generate formatted documents which can contain logos, tables and other formatting objects. And this documents can look like a pre-printed documents that normal ABAP codes cannot possible. The SAP SmartForms replace the SAPscript forms. SAP SmartForms offer the following advantages: 1)Creating and maintaining forms requiring half the time 2) Adapting forms without any programming knowledge due to entirely graphical user interface 3) Web Publishing using the generated XML output Here you will get some SAP SMARTFORMS tutorials and PDF guides to download.
You use SAP Smart Forms to create and maintain forms for mass printing in SAP Systems. As
output medium SAP Smart Forms support a printer, a fax, e-mail, or the Internet (by using the
    generated XML output).
    sapscript
SAPSCRIPTS are used to generate formatted documents which can contain logos, tables and other formatting objects. And this documents can look like a pre printed documents that normal ABAP codes cannot possible. SAPscript comprises these five components: 1)an editor for entering and editing the lines of a text. 2)styles and forms for print layout. 3)the composer as central output module. 4)a programming interface 5)several database tables for storing texts, styles and forms. Here you will get some SAPSCRIPTS tutorials and Pdf guides to download.
    PE51
There are Limitataions for PE51.You can use only for HR module specifically for Payroll.
