Review Listing

Hi everyone, I usually find a solution to all mu inquiries
but this one I simplay cannot. What I am trying to achieve is:
1) Website with multiple restaurant reviews where users can
interact.
2) The layout will be a list of restaurant with minimal info
(Picture, name, rating)
3) If you click on the name, you will see a full listing
Question:
I built multiple basic websites and my specialty really is
graphic designer. The challlenge is: I don't want to manuallyy
enter every single restaurant in list of restaurant (2). I would
like to use a database software. I even looked at shopping cart but
I don't really want to pay for a softwate that I will only use
10%...I don't need the money aspect, just the listings.
Any Suggestions?

First you should find out if and what servermodel your server
supports
(PHP/ASP/ASP.NET/ColdFusion/JSP).
Then open up the dreamweaver tutorials for "Creating Dynamic
Websites", with
these tutorials I was able to create a dynamic website for
listing and
editing database records pretty fast.
ps.: I don't think you need a cart just to list/enter/edit
information
contained in your database on your site,
you can do that with the standard dreamweaver serverbehaviors

Crystal Report 2008 and ClearQuest 7.1.2 parameter dropdown list

Hi,
I am working on CRs on CQ Reporting web client.
The issue is when the report has parameter.
One report has dynamic cascading parameters, first choose project name and next review name.
When designing the report in CR 2008 everything looks good and I am able to see my project list and then depending on the chosen project it displays the review list.
But when I upload the report design to CQ 7.1 the parameter drop down does not work, I have to manually add the report name.
Any idea on how to get the CQ to present the project list as the CR developer does???

Reviews in other languages

Hi all!
For many not-so-popular apps in the App Store there are no reviews in my native language (Spanish). This is probably the same in most languages, except in English, as it has a larger number of users.
So, wouldn't it be great if the App Store showed English-language reviews when there are no (or very few) reviews in the user's language?
A message could appear at the top of the reviews list saying: "There are no reviews for this app in your language. We are showing you reviews in English instead".
This would be useful for so many users!

App Store reviews no longer displayed in reverse chronological order

When I search for an app in the app store and look at its customer reviews, they are in seemingly random order. They always used to be displayed with the newest reviews at the top (reverse chronological order). Now when I look at the customer reviews of the Google Maps app for example, the review listed first is from March 5, 2013. A review from March 7, 2013 is posted below it. I am sure there must be newer reviews than that for such a widely used app. Today is May 17, 2013. Why aren't the newest reviews displayed first anymore?

This is quite frusturating...I too prefer my reviews the old way.
I'm not sure how/why this change occured but as a developer who has used iOS7 beta, I can confirm that user reviews ARE back in reverse chronological order at least in this early first beta.
Doesn't really help now though :/

EBP Reviewer process - Additional step

Hi All,
I am new to Workflow world. We got a EBP Service Confirmation workflow running at the moment with single approval process. Its a custom workflow coped from WS1040002.
We got a new requirement where in I have to add additional process to review before approval. For approval and review we have custom Z table which holds all approver/reviewer list for each plant/Agreement number/PO Number. If no entry in table it will go to person with ADMIN role. Can anyone point me at some document or link where I can follow to complete this review process. Thanks in advance.

Probably you can create a new screen for the reviewer where he can say yes or not, and then set a flag in workflow according to his action.
If the flag is set (reviewer reviewed and sais that it requires an approval) then go to next step approval step.
I don't know what you functionality is, say there is a sales order. THen desing a screen giving some of that slaes order data. When the reviewer double clicks on it he can go to va03. On the main screen add a button with Approval required .If reviewer clicks on it that means approval is required.
Include entire thing in your method. If user is clicking on button approval reuired then set a flag. use thar flag in your workflow to proceed further.

Random iphone 3g battery drain ... appears to be a background mail check

Phone Info: Model: 16GB/Black, 3g ON, OS 2.0.1, Mail: Push On and Manual Fetch, Location SVCs ON, LCD auto bright, Own this phone for 20 days.
I noticed (twice) that my phone battery drained up overnight after a full charge 5 hours earlier. It happened once with OS 2.0 and other time with OS 2.0.1. I started suspecting background apps (while the phone is in standby - blank screen) probably doing some unnecessary work and draining the battery juice.
I did some investigation during last week to turn on/off various parameters to close on which app is causing trouble. It appears to be Apple mail program! If I turn off all mail accounts, phone "Settings->General->usage meter" goes up by approx. 1min/hour when the phone is in standby. With my 3 mail accounts (2 yahoo and 1 gmail) on, usage meter goes up anywhere from 4-12 mins/hour or lot longer in some cases. This translates to about 100-250 mins of phone usage time/day without really opening up the phone. On 3G phone, 4 hrs of usage is where battery goes from full to 10% charge.
Details: The above problem doesn't happen always! This happens only when mail application spins in the background for a *long time* to fetch or sync mail. When it happens you see a rapid battery drain in standby. This is a most common scenario when you have a network connection (web browsing OK) but somehow the mail sync up (thru' SSL POP) takes forever. This is what I tried to reproduce: Goto mail->open account1->open inbox .. when it is spinning to fetch mail manually.. 30-45sec later give up and try another mail account..repeat above and press home button finally(at this point as a typical user you waited 1-2 mins to get mail on Wifi and gave up.. we are talking about your inbox having zero new in/out mails!. This is just for syncing your phone with the server). You can press standby and turn off the phone screen. Check couple hours later and usage meter goes up by how long the mail was spinning in the background.
I think the right implementation is Apple Mail should turn off background check when the user closes the app! OR at the least detect the phone is in standby and stop spinning after a small timeout.
Mail Push on or off has no effect on the problem. No other settings (3g on/off, GPS...) have any effect.. they don't increase background battery usage!
Appreciate your posts on any workarounds or fixes to this problem.

I'm flying blind here, a little, because I'm not currently using a 3G iPhone. However, I use MobileMe on my iMac, MacBook Pro and a Windows Vista laptop. Keep in mind that MobileMe syncs not only your email, but your calendar, contacts, bookmarks, etc. If possible, turn off MobileMe at night when you don't need to sync. See if that stops the spinning globe. When Apple changed from dotmac to MobileMe--offering "push" email, calendar updates, etc.--battery drain on the iPhone was bound to happen, because it takes battery power to connect to the MobileMe server. That's true of BlackBery's as well as any other mobile device using "push" technology.
Turning your POP and other email accounts off probably doesn't change MobileMe's synching with calendar, contacts, bookmarks, etc. I've noticed when I make a change on my MacBook Pro or iMac that the change does not take place immediately, unlike a BlackBerry connected to an Enterprise server. I'm assuming you're not using ActivSync with an Enterprise server. Neither do I since I use the BlackBerry Internet Service (BES). Emails, using BES, usually hit my BlackBerry before hitting Apple Mail on my Macs, but BEST is only pushing email.
Best answer to problem? Turn off your iPhone at night and save battery power. Not a perfect solution if you want to take phone calls at night. But until AT&T improves its 3G network (more towers, more 3G radios, etc.), that's the easiest way to keep your battery powered.

App Stores' bugs on the iPhone 2.0

Hello,
I have a first generation iPhone and I found a couple of bugs with the App Stores:
1) Going to "Featured" and then to "Categories" in the top right makes my iPhone go back to the main menu. Seems like the App Store application crashes.
2) Leaving reviews for applications using iTunes works fine but when I use the iPhone none appear on the review list, even after waiting a couple of days. Something is definitely not working here.
3) When in the "Top 25" tab, the number of reviews listed for each application is outdated. I need to load the reviews of a single application to get the number of reviews on the "Top 25" list to update for this application.
I also wonder why some applications are not available where I live. I do not have access to Loopt, eBay or Pandora from Europe. I understand for Loopt as it is an application based on the location, that works for the US, but Pandora is a internet radio so it should be available everywhere. As for eBay, I am pretty sure it is only a matter of changing a few lines of code so that the application shows the listing of my country.
Don't you think it would be nice to have a single topic with all the bugs related to the iPhone 2.0 software update? What do you think?

First gen phone running 2.0
1) When an app kicks you back to the home screen, yes, that's a crash. But I haven't seen the App Store crash on me at all. There is no Categories button in the top right of Featured, but switching between the top buttons doesn't cause me any problems.
2) I haven't tried leaving reviews via iPhone, so don't know.
3) Yes, I'm noticing a difference in review number. The Top 25 list shows N, the app page shows N, and then when you actually load the reviews, the heading at the top shows N-plus-something. I'm only seeing this with some apps, though, and the ones that do show it are off by a fairly small number (1148 vs. 1157, 254 vs. 258, 8 vs. 19)
A single topic for all bugs is a bad idea---it would quickly get too unwieldy and confusing. Much better to have small direct questions with specific subject lines.

Hi All,
When I try to replicate vendors, I follow this steps..
I log on NEP and go to Transaction /nBBPGETVD...
Screen Name = Transfer Vendor Master Records
Fill in the following table entries
Table = Identification of Source Data
Fields
System = BPAMANDxxx
Limit Vendor Selection:
Vendor From = xxx (See list Preferred Supplier Vendor List.xls)
Purchasing Organization From = xxx
Table = Organizational Unit for Vendor
Fields
Object ID = xxxx (see Vendor Org Group folder for ID)
Click on button to stage transmission.
Click on Display list button to view
New window will display results
Title = Valid External Vendor Description
Review list and when finished click on Cancel (F12) Icon
If ready click on Start Transmission button
Click on Continue (Enter) Icon to continue
To view application log.
I go to transaction SLG1
Add time range if needed then click the Execute (F8) icon
But when I execute transaction SLG1 I get the following message:
'' Error Changing Business Partner (data) Module: BBP_BUPA_GET_NUMBER Vendor : xxxxxxx ''...
Please, let me know is you know what the problem is...

Weblink.api causing slowdown in Acrobat Pro 9

Hello, Acrobat runs very, very, VERY slowly if I have weblink.api in the plug_ins folder. If I take it out, Acrobat runs OK, but is missing most/all of the features I need.
Running Acrobat without it is not possible. I need it to enable comments.
I have seen other posts about this issue that have gone ignored. Could someone shed some light on this critical problem?

Well, since there appears to be little interest in this problem, I will record what I'm doing on my own in hopes that someone else w/the same problem sees this. The reason I know that it's weblink.api that's causing the problem is because when I remove it from the plug ins folder and place it in an Optional folder that I created, performance returns to normal. This is fine, but without weblink.api the commenting feature is all but useless and I rely on it heavily to enter edits into the source document.
I used the Shared Review feature in another project, and still had documents live. I thought that the application might still be reaching out to those old review copies. So I ended all reviews and removed the documents from my review list (that feature is very slow, too, btw.)
That didn't help.
I have a workaround where I open the plug_ins folder and click and drag weblink.api to my Optional folder so that the document opens properly. Then I copy the PDF to another computer and so I can view the comments properly and make my changes. It's tedious, time-consuming, and somewhat error-prone, but it's better than what I've been doing.
I also print out comments only to PDF, close Acrobat Pro, remove weblink.api, and then open the comments up. Then I can copy and paste the edits. Also tedious, but better than trying to work with the sluggish performance.
I'll keep this thread open for another week or so.

App Store Needs: tabs, demos, blurbs, screenshot zoom, etc.

In my first hour of looking at the new Mac App Store I can see that it needs the following:
- Tabbed Browsing
- Demo Downloads
- Blurbs in Browsing (all the time or via hover)
- Wish List
- Watch List
- Gift List
- Screenshot Zoom-in
- Videos in screenshot area
- Non-owner reviews (listed below owner reviews)
- Ability to tell the app store that we own apps already, track for updates
- Sub-categories (for games esp.)
- Info feeds from MacUpdate, VersionTracker, and IUseThis with kickbacks to them
- Coverflow? Swiping?
- Ownership transfer
- On Sale badges
As it is, it's kind of bare and when thousands of apps make their way in there, they'll get lost.

I agree with most of the list, however the ownership transfer thing just isn't very likely I fear! This seems to be the way digital downloads have developed - they are a one-owner thing and I think it usually states this in the terms and conditions. It's a sure way for Apple and other digital distributors to make more money too, by eliminating the 2nd-hand software market. I think it's wrong, and as the customer I should always be right, but that seems to be a rare thing nowadays.
The App Store has taken too much of the iPad and iPod technology across to the computer platform IMO. On the computer we don't use touch screens most of the time, so having the large icons which are designed for finger clicking on a touch screen just doesn't work for me, we have a far more precise pointing device in the mouse and trackpad on-screen pointer (and I very much doubt that Apple will be releasing a touch-screen MacBook any time soon).
The problem with non-owner reviews is that it opens up the system to abuse by idiots and people who don't like the software, despite perhaps never even having used it (as I see all too often in the Apple Store reviews). Perhaps only Apple-recognised owners should be allowed to set a star rating.

ITunes TV episode purchases to TV viewing possible?

I was looking at the VGA adapter for the iPad, which seems to have a pretty poor user review list, but I can't see where it is actually spelled out as to whether it can do what I would like.
I have movies and TV episodes that I have downloaded, can I hook up the iPad via the VGA adapter to a TV and actually watch the movie/TV ?
