RFC in a WebDynpro application

We are currently implementing a project for a client that has the WAS 7.0 installed together with BW server, while having R/3 4.6C in another machine.
We faced difficulty when come to the data binding for Webdynpro application that the common HR tables such as PA0015, PA0001 are not available in the BW server.
I am sure this should be a common issue and we want to avoid create the messy customised table structure.
I did some readings on the service call function but by using the wizard to create it, it doesn't recognize the function module and destination. I have already created the connection between the two servers in t-code sm59.
Thus, Is it possible that we do RFC for the data binding of Webdynpro application? And what should we aware of if we decide to go with this solution?
Any feedback and comment will be greatly appreciate!

Hi Jin Jin ...
when creating a service call with the wizard RFC is not possible. So the wizard itself only knows FMs on the current machine.
In this case you have to write the RFC call by hand.
Your problem with the missing data structures on the machine with WD4A is
something we faced in the beginning of our project. We did not want to import all
missing structures to the WAS 7.0 so we decided to test WebService calls to the
BAPIs on the R/3. This was kind of easy because the proxy generation
automatcally creates all necessary structures. But anyway, you still loose
translations, search helps and other cool stuff which is available if your WD4A
application is on the same machine as all the FMs and data structures you want
to use.
So depending on the amaount of data structures and function modules you want to
use you could consider to import the data structures to the WAS and write
Wrapper FMs which call the R3 FMs via RFC or to use web service calls.
Cheers,
Sascha

  • How can I call RFC FM from webdynpro application for ABAP? Please help!

    Hi Experts,
I have a requirement where I have to make a call to RFC enabled function module passing some data from webdynpro for ABAP application. How can I achieve this? Any tutorial or links or docs will be very helpfull.
I have seen some tutorial on Adaptive RFC but it talks about webdynpro for Java.
Can I use "Call function XYZ destination A10" statement in webdynpro for ABAP application?
    Thanks
    Gopal

am doing same thing for my current SRM implementation.I am taking data to SRM server from another R/3 server .
This is solution I have used
    1) First of all I have made ABAP connection in SM59 .
Go to SM59 .In ABAP Connection creat ABAP connection with system with which u want communicate .
Eg I am connection with Systems PB1.
So i developed Connection call PB1CLNT800.
    2) In my requirement I have taken data in my context from another r/3,
I have give called RFC in my supply function of node.
Call to RFC is as usual.
    In my case,
    CALL FUNCTION 'RFC_MATNR'
    DESTINATION 'PB1CLNT800'
    TABLES
    IT_MATNR = IT_MATNR.
Onwards I have read my itab IT_MATNR and populated data to context.
Hope solution will serve your purpose.
Give point if it works .If any problem i have other ways.
    Cheers

  • Error in webdynpro application using RFC's

    Hii,
I have a webdynpro application where i use RFC to add a new customer to the database.I have used datacust and Uicust to do the corresponding coding. While running the application, values are not getting added from the front-end...giving an error "Error in adding customer".While i execute the RFC at R3 and enter new customer values, values are getting saved successfully.
I am not getting to solve the problem. Please do help out.
    Thanks,
    Parama.

    Leha,
Is this RFC expecting any mandatory parameters ? if that is the case make sure that you are sending the expected type mandatory parameter.  (you can print a message on the screen and verify this)
If you are sure that you are sending the correct details to execute RFC, Please turn on the debiug session for the portal user in the backend and see whether the values are passing from the portal or not.
How to switch on Debug mode in the backend for the specific user:
    Requirements:
    1. Make sure the user id existed in Portal and SAP Backend.
    2. Setup the debug mode for the user in the backend
    3. Run the application from the portal
    4. While executing the application from the portal , The backend stops the execution to debug, so from here you have to execute the FM step by step and verify whether you are getting the values from the portal or not.
Steps to switch on Debug mode in the backend:
Logon to ECC System>> To access the function module use SE37 tcode from the SAP Easy access menu>>Enter the Function Module name and click on Display>>From the SAP Menu click on Utilities>>Settings >>Debugging >>Enter the user ID to switch on the debug mode and Enter.
Now the user ID is switched on for Debug. Go to the Function module Source Code>> palce the cursor at the start of the soruce code>>From the Menu go to Utilities>>BreakPoint>>Set?Delete Break Point
This will set the break point for the mentioned user id and now you can veryfy the values on the backend.
Once you complete the debug process please turnoff the debug mode.
    Thanks

  • Webdynpro Application and RFC problem

    Hi all,
I have a webdynpro application that has a model with a RFC that allow users store a file into the disk, but when I try to run the application and pressed the button that make the call to the RFC I get the following error:
Exception condition "NO BATCH" raised, error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
Does anyone know anything about this error?..Please help me!
    Thanks in advance,
    Jesus.

Looks like you are calling an RFC function module  which has an exception call NO_BATCH.  There is probably a line of code in the function module like this.
    if sy-batch = 'X'.
    raise NO_BATCH.
    endif.
In this case, I don't think that you can call this function module.

  • WebDynpro Application issue consuming asynchronous webservice from SAP PI

Hello experts i ask you for help thie following issue:
i am developing a webdynpro application which is supposed to
send some data from inputfields, and a file, in order to achieve it, that dynpro application is consuming an asyncrhronous webservice , this service is running in SAP Process integration .it uses only a component.
Iam having serious problems at mapping the asynchronous PI web service model -->to -->controller >and then to->view
since when i deploy the application into the  SAP portal´s application server, it runs , but  inputfields cannot be written.i dont mean unabled, what i mean, is. cannot write anything on them.ECXEPT the file upload UI element.
I have reviewed sap help page, 3 sappress books, about dynpro, and the procedure i am performind is agree with them.
    endpoint test answers the folloiwng:
Message Servlet is in Status OK
    Status information:
    Servlet com.sap.aii.af.mp.soap.web.MessageServlet (Version $Id: //tc/xi/NW04S_20_REL/src/_adapters/_soap/java/com/sap/aii/af/mp/soap/web/MessageServlet.java#1 $) bound to /MessageServlet
    Classname ModuleProcessor: null
    Lookupname for localModuleProcessorLookupName: localejbs/ModuleProcessorBean
    Lookupname for remoteModuleProcessorLookupName: null
    ModuleProcessorClass not instantiated
    ModuleProcessorLocal is Instance of com.sap.aii.af.mp.processor.ModuleProcessorLocalLocalObjectImpl0_0
    ModuleProcessorRemote not instantiated
what i did is the same as before(in another projects weh i used to import rfc models):
1.- import webservice model, and add it to component
2.-map web service model to controller context
3.-map controller´s context to view context
    4.-create actions and methods
5.-binding context controller to ui elements
    Dear experts, my questions are:
    What am i doing wrong?
should i permorm another steps because the web service is in another application server (SAP PI)?
Should i create a stand alone proxy and then access it from webdynpro?
when i call the web service model excution it seems does not run, neverthless the invocation does not have any syntax error , what coul it be?
    Thanx in advance!!

just for the sake of other who may hit this thread , the solution is to add sap-client=<clientno> in the url for wsdl

  • Capturing the LOG OFF url click action in a Webdynpro application

    Hi,
I have this requirement where I need to know when the User logs off in a webdynpro application.
I have several webdynpro applications, each independent, and each need to do some clean up tasks when the user clicks on the LOG OFF url in the portal login.
Is there some standard event attached with the LOG OFF Url of the portal login?
And could anybody please specify when exactly would the  <i>wdDoExit()</i> method of the application view(s) or the application component controller get's trigerred when the application is run from the portal login?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Swapna Priya.

    Hi Luciano,
I was successfully able to call the RFC from wdDoExit() method of the component controller.
Also I could successfully place a custom alert call when the user clicks on the LOGOFFurl in the portal browser.
Now I have one more pending requirement for me to completely use this cycle of events.....The Portal Browser close action i.e., 'X' action.
I did find a forum link with some code for the same but i did not understand where to place that code and have already raised a reply for hte same.
    Below is the link:
    /message/230174#230174 [original link is broken]
Do you have any idea about how to trap this?
    Thanks for all your support

    Hi Rao,
1.Create binding to view to Controller.
2.Create table->Add column->Add table cell Editor(select LinkToAction UI Element in options).
              3. Bind the property <i>text ->sales order number</i> (Output/<model node>)
              4. Create an Event <salesOrder>
                                       // do null check
                                       // set your input parameters
// input sales order number = current output sales order number
                                       // enjoy="x"
// call controller's method() that executes RFC
              5. Bind this event    LinkToAction  property action-> <salesOrder>
To execute RFC, the code is available in sample tutorials.

    Hi,
    Change this line of code:
    wdContext.nodeZ_cr().bind(input);
    to
    wdContext.nodeZ_Crif_Get_Employee_For_User_Input().bind(input);
    Try executing your application now.

  • How to handle change in RFC module inside webdynpro

    Hi All!
I am developing a rather large webdynpro application. The development is a "work in progress" meaning that from time to time we find that there are requireemtns for additional fields in some of the tables / structures of the RFC module.
Normally what we do, when adding or deleting an attribute from a table/structure is:
    Reimportmodel.
    Delete Cotext.
Click Apply Template, and create new model binding using the template.
    modify the method.
But are there other ways to handle reimports?
Because when we use table XXYY in 7 different RFC modules and then add/remove an attribute of tabel XXYY we have to delete and re-create 7 modelbidings + method = VERY VERY time consuming, and error prone - because all the views attached to our component contoller also has to be reimported.
Does anyone know a smarter / more convienient way to do this?
    Inputs are highly appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Ronni Hostrup

    Hi Again,
i guess i was a little to quick in my reply.
The method above i am afraid does not work.
    What i did was:
the RFC module was changed (an extra field was added to a table of the rfc module)
reimported the model (on my DC containing the model)
re-deployed the model on the server.
opened the dc that uses the model and removed the model from used models.
-- no errors occoured. then i removed the use of the entire DC (removed it from used dc )
rebuilded the projcect, and alot of errors accoured.
add the model dc puplic part again, and added the model as used model.
rebuilded the project again - no errors.
in the context i, under input and output of the affected modelcontext i choose edit model binding ,and then chose the model type. and marked all of the fileds (i could see my ekstra field)
updated the ui that used the models.
deployed the archive, restarted the j2ee engine - just to be sure.
deployed the archive again, and nothing worked - ie. not a single entry in the entire table
so i guess i have to delete the model contex and then click the apply template to rebind and recreate alle my RFC modules again - since  most of them use the same modified table
but thanks for the inputs.  - lets hope that SAP one day realizes that this is not very clever made
    best regards,
    Ronni

  • How to Trace ABAP Webdynpro Application?

    Dear Friends,
We are trying analyse performance bottle neck for ABAP Webdynro application.
We have an Webdynpro Application named Z_APPLICTION_URL in NW 7.0 SP16 which is calling 4 RFC's in R/3 4.7 to fech data. Users lauch this application using URL configured in SICF. As there are some performance issues I would like to run trace for the complete call.
I would appreciate if any one please let me know how to run trace for these kind of scenarios.
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    Venkat

    Hi Prasad,
Step1: Runtime analysis using SE30 can help you to list out the extreme performance pitfal based on classifications like Methods, FMs & Reads in you WD application. All you can do is to activate the trace for your user and run the application and start analysing.
Apart from this there are various other ways like st05, wd trace tool which would be next moves in your activity.
Let me know incase any issues with step1

  • WebDynpro application no displayed on other systems

    Hi All..
We have developed an WebDynpro application using webservices where in the webservice will be used in connecting to the XI server and the rest all the business logic is there is done on XI which will be connecting to the R/3 using an RFC and the data is retrived on to the webdynpro. This has been deployed on to the XI J2EE engine and its running well on the systems where we are having the NWDS but its not working when we are using the same URL in other systems. Its working well on the system where we have NWDS.
We are having EP and XI servers on different systems.
    URL:http://hostname:port/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/XIWebService1/OrderApp
    Help Me
    Thanks in advance..
    Suma

    Hi Suma,
Are you getting any error or just a blank page ?
Did you check wether you can access any other webdynpro application page on other system where NWDS is not available?
Let me know the details ..
