RH9 Version Control not in File menu

Hi all,
I tried to add my project to Version Control but I don't see the Version Control command on the File menu. Although the Version contol toolbar is already on my workspace but it is disabled.
Please help me.
Thank you.

  • Version control for FH files

For the last 2 years I've been using a subversion system that
works very well with FH files. It does basicly the same as
VersionCue but works with a lot of file formats (not Flash 8 btw)
    My setup is like this:
    - File server at my home studio (just a win machine with RAID
5 disks and mapped network drives shared on my home network)
running Win XP Pro (backup done every 24h)
    - a workstation running TortoiseSVN on Win XP Pro (it becomes
    a shell extension in Explorer)
    my simple system:
    - I create a version repository in my project folder on the
    server
    - I check out a working copy of the file(s) I want to work
with to a local folder or a dedicated disk partition as I do
Whenever I save my changes I commit these changes to the
    repository with a text comment
Icon overlays tells me the status for each file and folder
    under version control
Whenever I get a file corruption (it happens with FH files) I
just check out a fresh working copy from that last commited
version. You can of course revert to any previous version at any
time or create branches out from one main design.
The best thing is that I'm able to review my change log
without opening a lot of files and revert to previous designs
without keeping a lot of different files, and of course being able
to resolve problems with corrupted FH files with minimal loss.
    http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/

I started version control on 01/14/2014.
As you can see below I modified several topics. When I opened the RSC database and did a history on any modified Topic from 01/14/2014 to a date in the future, it always said there was no difference.  In the past it always showed there was a difference and what the difference was.
I have started and stop version control several times hoping that would resolve the problem. Right now I am not using version Control.
I will start version control again.

  • CRSjlnProcDispatch for Version Control not found

Hi again, Well, I've now got Oracle9i SCM installed and working with some minor issues.
When I check out and back in, the version label of the file is accurately updated.
However, when I attempt to use the versioning utilities, View Version History...,
View Version Events, I get :
    CDR-17057: Failed in initialize JVM
The initial error complained about the class CRSjlnProcDispatch was missing.
The failure to initialize the Java Virtual Machine seems unlikely since the app would require JVM to run.
Does anyone know what CRSjlnProdDispatch is/resides/does?
Again, any thought or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
    Jeff Manning

    Jeff,
This is an issue with registry settings:-
Failure to load class when invoking VHV, VEH, Compare utility or Merge from the Repository Object Navigator (bug 2242883)
    Problem:
After invoking the Repository Object Navigator and navigating to a versioned object (eg 'SYSTEM FOLDER'), the following error may be encountered when invoking the Version History Viewer, the Version Event Viewer, Merge or the Compare utility:
CDR-17060: Failed to load class oracle/repos/rs/rsj/CRSjlnProcDispatch
and, if you try again, a different error may be encountered:
    CDR-17057: Failed to initiate JVM
This problem is caused by the classpath exceeding 1000 characters and will only occur when invoking these tools from the Repository Object Navigator.
    Workaround:
The simplest workaround is to use the Command Line Tool instead of the Repository Object Navigator to invoke the required tool such as the Version History Viewer, and this problem will not occur.

  • Package not under File menu

I have Illustrator CS6 but don't have the Package option under the File menu.
    Ideas?

    Thanks!
I thought it was available for both versions.

  • Version control not synchronizing the rhvariable.apj and default.css

After we had many problems with the 8.0.2 update, we managed to get a compile that was mostly correct and it buys us a couple weeks.  We are still having problems with the rhvariable.apj and the default.css files.  We had to edit the .cpd file in MS Access to get our global variables back from just before the update.  I did not want to manually enter 800+ variables again.  If my colleague edits the rhvariable file, i can't edit the file and i get an error.  If I edit the file, he can't read my file.  In order to get a compile with the variables we cut and pasted my variables into his .cpd file and it worked, but, now we are adding more variables and changing others resulting in only one of us having a working copy.  My system complained about the default .css which did not come down from the server so i just pasted his file to my directory and it is working but we are having problems editing that file also.  This is crazy.  The 8.0.2 really hurt us and is still hurting.  We are trying to run with it but having some significant problems.
    Got any ideas?

    Try this test.
Create a new project and create a variable with no value. Close the project and open rhvariable.apj with a text editor. You will see nothing has been saved, the variable name will not be there.
Now open the project and enter a value. Close the project and open the rhvariable file again, now you will see the variable and the value.
This seems to confirm that RH does not allow a null value variable to be created in the rhvariable.apj file. It may show it in the interface but that was not the problem.

  • My RoboHelp HTML 9 is not showing version control link

My RoboHelp HTML 9 is not showing version control link in File menu and in Tools - > options. Do I need to set anything in project to see version control link?

    Welcome to our community
Have you tried right-clicking the toolbars and ensuring you are seeing the Version Control toolbar?
I believe it may also depend on whether you elected to install version control when you installed RoboHelp. And in thinking about it, *IS* there a version control system installed?

  • How to turn off Check Out prompt in RH7 for VSS version control.

Using RH7 HTML, and VSS version control. Have been using without problem for 2 years. Now I had to get a new computer
set up, VSS seems to be correctly set up with RoboHelp, and asks to 'get latest' when I open a project, in the usual way.
However, each time I try to edit a topic in RH now, I am prompted to check out the topic. This should happen automatically. the RH tip that displays says:
"To turn off prompts when performing version control tasks manually, clear the option on the version control tab. Files are then checked out automatically.
Note: Files not selected in the list cannot be checked out."
this is unclear - there IS no version control tab, and which option are they saying to clear? there is a version control toolbar, and File>Version Control menu, neither of which has a 'prompt checkout' option.
I need not to check out manually every time!

Use the Tools > Options menu. There should be a "Version Control" tab in that dialog box.

  • Best practice for version control

    Hi.
I'm setting up a file share, and want some sort of version control on the file share. What's the best practice method for this sort of thing?
I'm coming at this as a subversion server administrator, and in subversion people keep their own copy of everything, and occasionally "commit" their changes, and the server keeps every "committed" version of every file.
I liked subversion because: 1) users have their own copy, if they are away from the office or make a big oops mistake, it doesn't ever hit the server, and 2) you can lock a file to avoid conflicts, and 3) if you don't lock the file and a conflict (two simultaneous edits) occur, it has systems for dealing with conflicts.
I didn't like subversion because it adds a level of complexity to things -- and many people ended up with critical files that should be shared on their own hard drives. So now I'm setting up a fileshare for them, which they will use in addition to the subversion repository.
I guess I realize that I'll never get full subversion-like functionality in a file share. But through a system of permissions, incremental backups and mirroring (rsync, second-copy for windows users) I should be able to allow a) local copies on user's hard drives, b) control for conflicts (locking, conflict identification), and keeping old versions of things.
I wonder if anyone has any suggestions about how to best setup a file share in a system where many people might want to edit the same file, with remote users needing to take copies of directories along with them on the road, and where the admin wants to keep revisions of things?
Links to articles or books are welcome. Thanks.

Subversion works great for code. Sort-of-ok for documents. Not so great for large data files.
I'm now looking at using the wiki for project-level documentation. We've done that before quite successfully, and the wiki I was using (mediawiki) provides version history of pages and uploaded files, and stores the uploaded files in the file system.
Which would leave just the large data files and some working files on the fileshare. Is there any way people can lock a file on the fileshare, to indicate to others that they are working on it and others shouldn't be modifying it? Is there a way to use unix permissions (user-group-other) permissions, "chmod oa-w" to lock a file and indicate that one is working on it?
I also looked at Alfresco, which provides a CIFS (windows SMB) view of data files. I liked it in principle, but the files are all stored in a database, not in the file system, which makes me uneasy about backups. (Sure, subversion also stores stuff in a database, not a file system, but everyone has a copy of everything so I only lose sleep about backups regarding version history, not backups on the most recent file version.)

  • Hello, I want to use version controlling software with Labwindows.

    Hello All.
I want to use version controlling tool with Labwindows/CVI. Actually version controlling tools work for text files and by using the tool i can do version controlling of my .c and .h files in Labwindows/CVI project. But is there a way to do version controlling of .uir files also. Version control tool can detect the changes made in .uir file but is there any tool that can be used to compare and merge .uir files too just like text files operation for version controlling.
    Regards

    Hello Moshi,
Personally I never understood how the integrated version control system of
CVI works, but SVN (and TortoiseSVN) works fine with CVI projects.
UIR files are treated as binary, as they should be, and that's about all.
You could put the .tui file under version control instead, but I don't think
    it's worth the bother.

  • Version-Control / Change-Management

    Hi there,
I know there is a nice function in Enterprise Manager controlling your versions of your database-design and your schemas.
That means: I can compare to schemas and the enterprise manager shows me the difference and what was changed during the last check.
Does anybody know, how this feature is called and where I can get more infos?
    Thanx for help,
    Christian

    Hi Joe,
we are using Subversion and the Tortoise Client for version control of project files. For the forms modules we inheritated via OLB a parameter in each forms module with initial value like "$Revision:: 1234 $" which can be overwritten by subversion in case of check-in. For libraries/reports we use a dummy function which returns the revision string. So the revision can be set by Subversion on check-out/check-in and can be displayed/retrieved at runtime in the application.
Subversion/Tortoise can be configured to lock files on check-out, and to enter some comments on check-in. We use it for every kind of project file, e.g. database scripts, documentation, specifications, etc.
For the deployment of final solutions we have created a small PHP-script which compiles all source files newer than the compilated files. This script is able to "distribute" all compilated files into a specified directory. Then we have to call our administrator who will copy the contents of this directory to the live servers.
Hope this infos may help you.
    Regards
    Kai

  • Version control for databases, schemas, objects

    Dear All,
I'm looking for a designer tool with version control abilities. I don't need to have many types of models, if it's able to do ER and version control, plus it has a command line interface then it's fine. (I need to automate everything, so installing schemas with one click or with one command shouldn't be a problem.) The funny thing is that I've already built such environments with SVN and VSS, but now I need a reliable product with such features. (I don't like Designer, so that one is out of scope.) One more thing: it has to be able to store parameters of objects for example: PCTFREE, PCTUSED, TABLESPACE, etc.
I'm looking forwrad to your help.

Released in April 2008, Oracle SQL Developer 1.5 is the "Version Control" release, as it includes integration with open source version control products, CVS and Subversion.Supporting the version control is a File Browser to browse and read files stored in the file system. You can open and edit these files from within SQL Developer.

  • Conflicting information about files that should not be included in version control

    Hi All,
We are using RoboHelp HTML v9 from the Tech Comms Suite v3.5.
We are two authors who added our help project files into Perforce version control using the instructions provided on the Adobe site. All was going well until I returned from Maternity Leave. Now, we seem to be getting some file conflicts and 'strange behaviour'.
I searched for answers and found the following submissions offering conflicting advice about the .hhp file:
    http://adobe.hosted.jivesoftware.com/message/3880352
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3853685#3853685
The .hhp file is one of the files causing us troubles. Should this file be under source control? What is the best way for us to remove it from source control, or would it be better for us to remove the whole project from source control and re-add it through RoboHelp once more to ensure whatever it is that happened on my return is eliminated?
Thank you all for your help.
    Regards
    LillibetUK

If you are getting conflicts then these need to be sorted out regardless of whether they should be inside your source control application. I use source control and can tell you that the HHP file should be source controlled. Open it up in Notepad and you'll find all sort of project related data including a list of all the topics in your project. It can also be useful to recover from a corrupted project. For this reason alone I'd always include it in source control.
