Rhino calling overloaded Java methods with Array parameters

Has anyone had any problems writing JavaScript code that calls overloaded Java methods?
I have two Java defined methods that differ in the arguments, one takes a string the other takes an array of strings. The problem is calling Java methods within the JavaScript always calls the method with the String argument...
/* Java Code Here */
public void function(String s) { /* Function A */ }
public void function(String[] sa) { /* Function B */ }
/* JavaScript  Code Here */
param = java.lang.reflect.Array.newInstance(java.lang.String, 2);
param[0] = "test";
param[1] = "test2";
stringParam = "test3";
/* Both function calls below end up calling the Function A from above */
function(param);
function(stringParam);PS...in case you're not familiar with Rhino,
It is a mozilla package that embeds a JavaScript interpreter within a Java application...

haha...I can't even find my other thread :(
Sorry about the double post...I'll go look for my other thread now

  • OSB java call out with array parameters

    Hi all,
    I have a java call out with array parameters, follow the firm of java method:
    logBody2(String category, XmlObject headerXml, String[] level, XmlObject[] xml)
    The java call out have String[] and XmlObject[] arrays in intput, my question is how I can pass these arrays of values at java call out?
    Thk
    L.

    For array, comma-separated values should be passed. For e.g. -
    If input parameter is of type String[] then passed values should be comma-separated strings like - 'Anuj','Dwivedi'
    If input parameter is of type XmlObject[] then passed values should be comma-separated XmlObject like - <anuj/>,<dwivedi/>

  • How to call java method having array as argument from c++ ?

    Hello sir,
    how to call java method having array as arguments from c++;
    here is java code which is called from c++
    class PQR {
         public void xyz(int[] ia) {
         System.out.println("hi");
              for (int i = 0; i < ia.length; i++)
                   System.out.println(ia);
    suppose all jvm invocation is done...

    For someone well versed in java, C++ and JNI although tedious that should be obvious.
    For someone not well versed in all three it is going to be very difficult.
    Even for someone that does have knowledge in all of those areas coming up with a C++ interface that reflects that functionality in a dynamic way such that anyone is will to use it is going to be quite an adventure.
    At any rate to start building it you do exactly the same thing that you would in java.
    1. Extract everything in the jar via the zip package
    2. For each found instance extract all of the methods, return types, parameters, etc and build a description tree for each class.
    Doing all of that in C++ is going to take a LOT of code. If someone wanted an estimate from me it would take me 6 months to do it. And before I would even attempt it I would get them to explain to me in detail exactly how they thought they were going to use it when I was done because I can't see any reasonable way to do that.
    I left out the description tree itself. I suppose you could duplicate the entire reflection api in C++.
    Now perhaps if it was much, much more constrained, like to only those classes that implement a single interface then that would be more reasonable.

  • How to call a AM method with parameters from Managed Bean?

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a situation where I need to call AM method (setDefaultSubInv) from Managed bean, under Value change Listner method. Here is what I am doing, I have added AM method on to the page bindings, then in bean calling this
    Class[] paramTypes = { };
    Object[] params = { } ;
    invokeEL("#{bindings.setDefaultSubInv.execute}", paramTypes, params);
    This works and able to call this method if there are no parameters. Say I have to pass a parameter to AM method setDefaultSubInv(String a), i tried calling this from the bean but throws an error
    String aVal = "test";
    Class[] paramTypes = {String.class };
    Object[] params = {aVal } ;
    invokeEL("#{bindings.setDefaultSubInv.execute}", paramTypes, params);
    I am not sure this is the right way to call the method with parameters. Can anyone tell how to call a AM method with parameters from Manage bean
    Thanks,
    San.

    Simply do the following
    1- Make your Method in Client Interface.
    2- Add it to Page Def.
    3- Customize your Script Like the below one to Achieve your goal.
    BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("GetUserRoles");
    operationBinding.getParamsMap().put("username", "oracle");
    operationBinding.getParamsMap().put("role", "F1211");
    operationBinding.getParamsMap().put("Connection", "JDBC");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    if (!operationBinding.getErrors().isEmpty()) {
    return null;
    return null;
    i hope it help you
    thanks

  • Best practice for calling an AM method with parameters

    Which will be the best way to call an AM method with parameters from a backing bean.
    I usually use the BindingContainer to get the operation binding and then call execute function. But when the method have parameters, how to do it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    same:
    operationBinding.getParamMap().put("argument1Name", argument1Value);
    operationBinding.getParamMap().put("argument2Name", argument2Value);
    operationBinding.execute();

  • How to call a C method with Java

    Hi all,
    is it possible calling a C method with Java?? And how to...?
    thx for helping
    Cobol1

    is it possible calling a C method with Java?? And how to...?Not in general no.
    You can use JNI which will call another C function (which you write) and which then calls your C method.
    If the method is of a specific type (like OLE, Corba) then there are packages available which can allow you to access it. They still use JNI underneath, but hide that functionality from you.

  • UnsatisifiedLinkError calling overloaded static method

    I'm sure I'm doing something dumb but I can't figure it out. I am getting an UnsatisifiedLinkError when I call one of the two following overloaded methods.
    Here's the java class:
      public native static RtaPlcAddress create(String address, int elements);
      public native static RtaPlcAddress create(String address, Type type,
                                                int elements);Here's a snipet of the c code:
    JNIEXPORT jobject JNICALL Java_Packages_RTA_RtaPlcAddress_create__Ljava_lang_String_2LPackages_RTA_RtaPlcAddress_Type_2I
      (JNIEnv *pEnv, jclass cl, jstring address, jobject type, jint elements)
      jobject
        retval = NULL;
      const char
        *pAddress;
      PLC_ADDRESS_STR
        *pPlcAddr;
      jclass
        classType = (*pEnv)->GetObjectClass(pEnv, type);
      jmethodID
        valueId,

    JNIEXPORT jobject JNICALL Java_Packages_RTA_RtaPlcAddress_create__Ljava_lang_String_2I

        *pAddress;
      PLC_ADDRESS_STR
        *pPlcAddr;
      PCCC_ADDRESS_STR
        addr;
    }I am getting the function declarations by running javah on the class and pulling them from the header file that was created so I'm sure I have the correct function declaration.
    Both functions show exported when I used the dumpbin program on the DLL that was created.
    Anyway, when I use the create method with 2 parameters (String, int), everything works but when I do the other, I get the error. I can't figure it out.
    This is on Windows XP SP3 with JDK 1.6.0_14.
    Thanks

    I just tried what you suggested by changing the name of the method that's giving the error to "bill". Obviously, the function call for the other "create" method that works changed so I handled that as well. I don't understand that statement.
    You started with "create" which is overloaded with two instances.
    You then change the name of one of them, only one, to "bill".
    See if both methods then work.
    That is what I suggested.
    Once I did that, everything worked. I then changed it back to "create" and I got the error again.If you did what I suggested above then try the following.
    1. Change one to "billxxx" - where the 'xxx' is to insure absolutely nothing else matches.
    2. Verify it works for both methods (where one is still "create").
    3. Change the second one to "billxxx".
    4. See if both methods work.
    If 4 is an error, then yes it is a bug.
    You then should create a small test case that demonstrates it. For that try primitive parameters to see if it makes a difference.

  • How to call a C function calling a Java Method from another C function ?

    Hi everyone,
    I'm just starting to learn JNI and my problem is that I don't know if it is possible to call a C function calling a Java Method (or doing anything else with JNI) from another C function.
    In fact, after receiving datas in a socket made by a C function, I would like to create a class instance (and I don't know how to do it too ; ) ) and init this instance with the strings I received in the socket.
    Is all that possible ?
    Thank you very much for your help !

    Hard to understand the question, but by most interpretations the answer is going to be yes.
    You do of course understand that JNI is the "API" that sits between Java and C and that every call between the two must go through that. You can't call it directly.

  • Calling a Stored Procedure with output parameters from Query Templates

    This is same problem which Shalaka Khandekar logged earlier. This new thread gives the complete description about our problem. Please go through this problem and suggest us a feasible solution.
    We encountered a problem while calling a stored procedure from MII Query Template as follows-
    1. Stored Procedure is defined in a package. Procedure takes the below inputs and outputs.
    a) Input1 - CLOB
    b) Input2 - CLOB
    c) Input3 - CLOB
    d) Output1 - CLOB
    e) Output2 - CLOB
    f) Output3 - Varchar2
    2. There are two ways to get the output back.
    a) Using a Stored Procedure by declaring necessary OUT parameters.
    b) Using a Function which returns a single value.
    3. Consider we are using method 2-a. To call a Stored Procedure with OUT parameters from the Query Template we need to declare variables of
    corresponding types and pass them to the Stored Procedure along with the necessary input parameters.
    4. This method is not a solution to get output because we cannot declare variables of some type(CLOB, Varchar2) in Query Template.
    5. Even though we are successful (step 4) in declaring the OUT variables in Query Template and passed it successfully to the procedure, but our procedure contains outputs which are of type CLOB. It means we are going to get data which is more than VARCHAR2 length which query template cannot return(Limit is 32767
    characters)
    6. So the method 2-a is ruled out.
    7. Now consider method 2-b. Function returns only one value, but we have 3 different OUT values. Assume that we have appended them using a separator. This value is going to be more than 32767 characters which is again a problem with the query template(refer to point 5). So option 2-b is also ruled out.
    Apart from above mentioned methods there is a work around. It is to create a temporary table in the database with above 3 OUT parameters along with a session specific column. We insert the output which we got from the procedure to the temporary table and use it further. As soon the usage of the data is completed we delete the current session specific data. So indirectly we call the table as a Session Table. This solution increases unnecessary load on the database.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Rajesh

    Rajesh,
    please check if this following proposal could serve you.
    Define the Query with mode FixedQueryWithOutput. In the package define a ref cursor as IN OUT parameter. To get your 3 values back, open the cursor in your procedure like "Select val1, val2, val3 from dual". Then the values should get into your query.
    Here is an example how this could be defined.
    Package:
    type return_cur IS ref CURSOR;
    Procedure:
    PROCEDURE myProc(myReturnCur IN OUT return_cur) ...
    OPEN myReturnCur FOR SELECT val1, val2, val3  FROM dual;
    Query:
    DECLARE
      MYRETURNCUR myPackage.return_cur;
    BEGIN
      myPackage.myProc(
        MYRETURNCUR => ?
    END;
    Good luck.

    any help would be appreciated

    I am a Java learner and I got the same warning. My code runs like this:
    import java.lang.reflect.*;
    class Reflec
         public static void main(String[] args)
              if(args.length!=1)
                   return;

                   Constructor[] cons=c.getDeclaredConstructors();
                   Class[] params=cons[0].getParameterTypes();
                   Object[] paramValues=new Object[params.length];
                   for(int i=0; i<params.length; i++)
                        if(params.isPrimitive())
                             paramValues[i]=new Integer(i+3);
                   Object o=cons[0].newInstance(paramValues);
                   Method[] ms=c.getDeclaredMethods();
                   ms[0].invoke(o, null);
              catch(Exception e)
                   e.printStackTrace();
    class Point
         static
              System.out.println("Point class file loaded and an object Point generated£¡");
         int x, y;
         void output()
              System.out.println("x="+x+"\ny="+y);
         Point(int x, int y)
              this.x=x;
              this.y=y;
    When I compiled the file I got the following:
    Reflec.java:26: warning: non-varargs call of varargs method with inexact argument type for last parameter;
    cast to java.lang.Object for a varargs call
    cast to java.lang.Object[] for a non-varargs call and to suppress this warning
    ms[0].invoke(o, null);
    ^
    1 warning
    Since the problem was with this line "ms[0].invoke(o, null);" and the specific point falls on the last argument as the warning mentioned that " ... method with inexact argument type for last parameter", I simply deleted the argument "null" and the line becomes "ms[0].invoke(o);" and it works, no warning anymore!

    ORA-29531: NO METHOD COPYFILE IN CLASS FILECOPY
    ORA-06512: AT "RMVER721.PROC_COPY_FILE", LINE 1could anyone help me

    Looks like it is a matter of not quite the same namespace for String object.
    I can get it to work by the java source containing:
              public static void copyfile(java.lang.String fromFile,java.lang.String toFile) throws AccessControlExceptionAnd the PL/SQL source:
    NAME 'FileCopy.copyfile(java.lang.String,java.lang.String)'; // calling a java methodSeems like when you just use "String", then the namespace resolving in the java source is not the same as the namespace resolving in the PL/SQL?
    Addendum:
    You do not need to put java.lang.String in the java source, String will do (java.lang is by default "imported"?)
    But in the PL/SQL source java.lang namespace prefix is needed - java.lang is not "imported" here.

  • Calling one java program (with main method) from another

    Hello,
    How can I start another java program from one? Lets
    say I want Second.java to start by calling it from
    First.java. How do I do it? The two programs are given
    below. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Amanda
    First.java
    import java.io.*;
    import java.lang.reflect.*;
    public class  First
         public static void main(String[] args)
              Process theProcess=null;
              System.out.println("Hello World from First.java!");
              String second=new String("Second.java");
              //System.load(second);
              //Runtime.getRuntime().load(second);
              try
                   theProcess=Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "Second.java"
                   System.out.println("after exec");
              catch (IOException ioe)
                   System.out.println(">>IOException thrown in
    First.java while calling
    Second.java."+ioe.getMessage());
    Second.java
    public class  Second
         public static void main(String[] args)
              System.out.println("Hello World from Second.java!");
