Right click spotlight bug?

If you right click the spotlight icon, it disables spotlight (cmd+space).. Is this a bug or feature?

I once worked in a lab which contained a transformer with its incessant 120 Hz hum.  Just when I could tune it out someone would say "What's that hum?" and then it would annoy me again.  Similar story in a different lab which had a cooling water drain.  Just when I get used to the sound, someone would bring it up.
This behavior has p#$#ed me of on numerous occasions and I am mostly used to it by now.   At home I use a track ball mouse which covers a lot of real estate in a hurry so of course I am often scrolling a FP into never-never land.  Now you bring it up and I am having flashbacks... (Thanks really, it is time to get this fixed)
I have learned to spot the little circle in the crosshair cursor.  When it is missing, you are in selection mode.

  • TWO CRITICAL BUGS: 1) File, "Save Page As" and 2) right-click the picture and select "Save Image As", both do not work at all in Firefox 27, 28, and 29!

Note: capitals are used only to highlight important words.
PLEASE, TAKE THESE COMMENTS ON TWO CRITICAL BUGS VERY SERIOUSLY BECAUSE THE BUGS DESCRIBED BELOW ARE SO CRITICAL THAT I CANNOT USE THE LATEST VERSION OF FIREFOX UNLESS THEY DO NOT APPEAR IN THE LATEST VERSION AND THEREFORE I AM FORCED TO REVERT BACK TO FIREFOX 26.
I have Windows 7 64-bit and Firefox 26. I could not install Firefox 27, 28, and 29 due to the persistent presence of the two critical bugs described below. I have 8 GB of RAM and an Intel quad-core processor and a lot of hard disk space available.
I installed Firefox 27 and then Firefox 28 a while back and these two bugs described below were still present and now I have just checked again with Firefox 29 by installing it and yet again, these two bugs described below are present!! UNBELIEVABLE THAT THESE TWO CRITICAL BUGS ARE STILL PRESENT IN FIREFOX 29 WHEN I CLEARLY INFORMED YOU ABOUT THEM IN THE HELP, SUBMIT LINK OF FIREFOX!!
I am forced to revert to Firefox 26!
First, I use Windows 7 64-bit and I always use Firefox with at least 120 tabs opened. BUT I have 8 GB of RAM, an Intel core i7 quad-core processor and more than 1 TB of hard disk space. Consequently, I do not understand why I would have these two critical bugs.
With Firefox 26, I also have at least 120 tabs opened when I start Firefox and I do not have the two critical bugs described below, therefore I do not believe that the number of tabs is the reason of the two critical bugs that are present in Firefox 27, 28, and 29.
    ---FIRST CRITICAL BUG:
When I open ANY web page and do File, "Save Page As", the window that is supposed to open to locate the folder where I want to save this web page does NOT open at all, even if I wait a long time to see if it opens.
Same problem happened with Firefox 27, 28, and now 29!! When I reverted back to Firefox 26, this problem did NOT happen anymore!
    ---SECOND CRITICAL BUG:
When I use Google Images, for instance entering model in the search field of Google Images and then pressing enter.
Then I select any picture, open to a new tab this selected picture, then open a new tab by selecting the option View for this picture. Then right-click the picture and select "Save Image As".
Again, the window that is supposed to open to locate the folder where I want to save this picture does NOT open at all, even if I wait a long time to see if it opens.
Same problem happened with Firefox 27, 28, and now 29!! When I reverted back to Firefox 26, this problem did NOT happen anymore!
---THESE TWO CRITICAL BUGS DO NOT APPEAR WHEN I USE INTERNET EXPLORER 11.
I have no idea if you will be able to reproduce these two critical BUGS but I can assure you that they are not present when I use Firefox 26 and they are present when I use Firefox 27, 28, and 29. More, be aware that I have at least 100 tabs opened but I also have this same number of tabs opened in Firefox 26 and yet I do not experience these two critical bugs when I have Firefox 26!
Once again, these two bugs touch at two vital, critical very basic functions of Firefox and therefore I will NOT be able to use any version above 26 if these two bugs are still present, as they are present in Firefox 27, 28, and now 29!!!
Please, make it a priority to solve these two critical bugs. Thanks.
I did read a post related to the same issues “Firefox stops responding when trying to "save page" or "save image" | Firefox Support Forum | Mozilla Support” at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/991630?esab=a&as=aaq
I am still reading it again to try to figure out exactly what the person did to make his problems be solved, as the post is not clear at all on what solved the problems!
In any case, all the suggestions proposed in this post do not work and I surely cannot do a system restore when it is obvious that the two bugs do not appear in Internet Explorer.

First, I sent an email to the author of PhotoME to inform him of the serious issues his addon caused with Firefox latest versions.
Now, for those of you who do not have the PhotoME addon and yet experience the same problem that I had and that I described above, I suggest the following strategy.
As PhotoME did cause these problems with Firefox latest versions, I am pretty covinved other addons probably might cause these problems too. Therefore, adopt the following method.
Test one addon at a time to see if this particular addon is behind your Firefox issues like the ones I had.
So, disable one addon only at a time. Then close your Firefox and restart it from scratch and see if you still have your Firefox problems. You must restart the Firefox browser from scratch. If you still have these Firefox problems, re-enable the disabled addon, restart your Firefox (again!) and repeat the same method for every single addon that you have.
Try to be selective by choosing first addons that are more likely to cause your Firefox problems such as not very well-known or not very popular addons (like it was the case for the PhotoME addon).
If this method works or if it does not work, report it on this web page so that others can be helped with your comments.
I hope this method will help you because I was really upset that I had these Firefox problems and I first thought it was the fault of Firefox, only to discover later that this PhotoME addon was the culprit and had caused me such upset.

Yes, the menu driven webcam selection process works fine. It's just the old way to select webcam source that no longer works. Build 22.71, Windows and Linux, going against either Oracle 9i or 10g.
I right click a row in the session report and choose either kill session or trace session, and the window that appears... its first tab selected has the labels for the prompts, but not the information on it, so you do now know what owner's session you are killing or tracing.

  • Mac Spotlight Results: Right Click/Open With/Reveal in Finder?

    Hi,
As many others, I am a heavy Spotlight user/searcher. I tried quite a bit around, but I seem not to be able to "right click" open with on the Spotlight search results (Spotlight used from the menubar). I can open search results, but that is most of the time not what I wish to do. More commonly, I would like to "Reveal in Finder" or "Open with" (i.e., opening a PDF in Photoshop or Acrobat, not Preview, depends on what needs to be done with it...).
How can I get "right click" on search results enabled? Is there any way to enabled that? If not, how is your workflow to a) find files + b) do something else with them then open with default app?
    Thank you for your thoughts!
(p.s. I know that I have the right click option if searching from a Finder window rather than then searching from the menubar, and that I can get the menubar Spotlight open as a Finder Spotlight search result set... however, the results in the Finder menubar are different, and much better, then the what is presented in Finder... so it would be much better to have the right click there)

    Thank you, that really helps!
I tried Command + double click and that is exactly what I needed... you can "open with" from Finder then in a second step (one step more then would be logically required, I do hope Apple simply enables right clicks in search results in the next release)

  • Windows 8.1 BUG - Cannot right click wi-fi networks

There are various threads on this with so many really bad answers. You guys really need to recognize that you broke the function and have to put it back.
In windows 8.1 you cannot go to wi-fi, right click
Answers I have seen is go to PC settings, Network, delete from there - But that just shows you the network you are connected to, not the one(s) you wish to delete
Another answer is use the NETSH command to delete the profiles. You delete the profiles and they come back.
Guys an gals, own it as the bug it is. The user should be able to do two things:
    1) Delete a wi-fi name by right-clicking
    2) Permanent ignore (don't show again) that network name
for number 2, it should have a feature in networks of ignored network names in case someone want to re-activate.
Why no action on this often reported issue ? Thanks

    1) Delete a wi-fi name by right-clicking
    Hi,
For Windows 8.1,the WiFi Alliance has removed some options. Clients are no longer allowed to have UI to configure these modes.
We need to manually delete the useless wifi profile.
Regarding your second question, since SSID uses broadcast,we cannot ignore the SSID.
Meanwhile,we will submit your feedback to our product team.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Right click menu changes after error: possible bug

SQL Developer 1.1.2.25 build 25.79. This problem is reproducible everytime.
    01. Connect to any database.
    02. In the SQL window, run any query like
    select 'alter '||object_type||' '||owner||'.'||object_name||' compile;' from dba_objects where status='INVALID' and owner='XYZ';
Craft the query to return some rows.
    03. In the results window, right click the result set and choose Export Data->TEXT.
    04. SQL Developer will generate an error:ora-00972 identifier is too long.
    05. Click Ok to close the error box.
    06. Modify the query to include an alias:
    select 'alter '||object_type||' '||owner||'.'||object_name||' compile;' as x from dba_objects where status='INVALID' and owner='XYZ';
Run the query to generate rows.
    07. In the result window, right click the records. The right click menu will change. the Export Data option is no longer available.
Since the problem is repeatable, it might be a bug.
    Thanks

This was posted back in Export data menu item disappearing in the results tab but there does appear to have been any development response at that point.

  • Bug: Universal app input controls (i.e. Start Menu, Task view buttons) ignoring and missing interpretative translation for legacy input control context request (right-click)

Redundant post - however the topic (title) is different to point out the potential of adding translation for right-click to universal app input controls. The part about a solution for translation is in bold at the bottom of this post ...
Bug: Universal app input controls (i.e. Start Menu, Task view buttons) ignoring and missing interpretation translating right-click to a left-click to activate context (menu) in universal app web style (similar to oo context menu for oo legacy style).
Bug: Task view: OO context menu: Should show "nothing" (like right-click Start Menu button) - but right click Task view shows the oo context menu for the Task bar (wrong context)
Besides behaving wrongly (should be like right clicking the Start button) ....
the problem is the user is likely to look for actions on that context menu.
However to activate the context menu for this universal app kind of behavior you actually need to left-click the button for the Task view ... and then you get the universal app like context menu.
Microsoft must have been trying to figure out what to do about this kind of voupling mismatch between legacy (right-click) and universal app (left-click) conmtext menus. confusing for users it weill become nevertheless.
But the left-click style supports touch.
One solution though is to support right-click on i.e. Task view and Start button. Thus for new kind (universal app kind-of)input controls - right-click will work (instead of just being ignored) just like left-click. Allthough not a correct left-click
    - it will be helpful and interpretive translating the intension of receiving a context. A practical solution with right-click translating into left-click for universal app controls considering that the context menu actually has become a hybrid of left-click
and right-click (with a precedence for left-click though)

    This is a great post.
I couldn't have written it myself better.

  • Why did Lion remove spotlight search from right click options?

Why did Lion remove spotlight search from right click options?

If by "contextual menu" you mean Right Clicking, then Yes, I now can highlight text (say a name in Address Book), right click it, and Spotlight searches for it.
There is a little triangle next to the word Searching in Sys Pref; make sure it's pointing down and opens the sub-choices below it, i.e. Look up in Dictionary, Search with Google, and Spotlight.
Let me know if this doesn't do it for you.
    Good luck.

  • Bug? Right-click on Front Panel causes selection rectangle!

Originally posted on LAVA: http://lavag.org/topic/12097-right-click-on-front-panel-causes-selection-rectangle/. This post contains an updated description of the problem.
Anytime I right-click on a control on the FP, and dismiss the context menu, I get a selection rectangle. If I don't catch it, moving outside the bounds of the FP will cause the FP to scroll to continue my unwanted "selection". So far this has been repeatable every time.
I noticed that the problem doesn't occur on the Controls pallette, only the context menu for controls. Also, if I mouse over the context menu before dismissing it, the problem doesn't occur. If I select an item from the context menu (which also dismisses it), the problem doesn't occur.
