Right-clicking sometimes makes it click twice?

Recently, as in since a week or two ago, when I right-click, about 10% of the time the computer will think that I right-clicked twice and so the context menu disappears when I try to activate it (because if you click when the context menu is already opened, then it will disappear). I imagine that this must be caused by a recent OS X update somehow.
Is anyone else encountering this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?

I think that it's definitely the mouse's problem now. I managed to finally get my hands on a mouse (only had the one mouse available until I went out to borrow another), and that one works great.
I'm glad it's not OS X, then. I initally suspected OS X because the problem seemed to be happening since the recent 10.7.4 update on May 9, 2012. I guess it's time to get a new mouse!

See the previous replies on how to configure a trackpad (or mouse) in System Preferences for a right click (secondary click). I gave up on that and I now use control click. It does the same thing and is easier for me. Press and hold the control key, then click the trackpad. That brings up the contextual menu:

Right click Open With sometimes not working (Photoshop Elements 9, Windows Vista)

We recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 7 to Photoshop Elements 9. We are running Windows Vista.
Last night, my wife was right clicking on JPEG images in her My Pictures subfolders and choosing "Open With" to open the files with Photoshop Elements. In some cases, this worked. In other cases she would right click the file, Adobe Photoshop Elements would start, but the picture itself would not display.
I tested one of these pictures and was able to open it with other applications, and was able to open it by choosing "Open" from Photoshop Elements' file menu.
Has anyone run into this before? Why are some pictures not opening when you right-click and use "Open With"?

Then it souhld work fine.

Make my right click context menus occur only in selected divs

Hi
I want to make some context menus for certain divs in my website page. So the person viewing the site sees a link to a music file and they right click on the link to get more options but instead of the default browser options coming up, a customized list comes up.
This is just an example. The real thing is that I want multiple menus that work in selected divs only. So if you click in most places on the page you get the default context menu but if you click within certain divs you get a different menu.
So far everyone has just given me java script but i can't set html links inside of javascript. Can anyone tell me how to take this script and make it apply to divs instead of the whole document?

Hi, thanks for the quick response!
While trying to find info on how to fix this I looked up some context menu addons for FF and tried one. It didn't work so I uninstalled it and after that everything was back to normal. Odd, but there you have it. I still don't know what went wrong in the first place but for the moment it appears to have cleared up.
Next time though I will try loading into Safe Mode if I find any issues (I forgot there was one!).

There's no "New File" shortcut in Finder on Macs, so you have to launch the application you want (eg TextEdit), create your document, and save it there. There are workarounds using Terminal (the touch command), AppleScript/Automator, and using third-party launch programs like Quicksilver, but natively, it can't be done.

noted that under IE realplayer plugin still works fine, button to 'download this video' comes on as before.....

Sometimes right clicking on a image provides the option of copying or saving it and sometimes it does not

I even saved the page because I could not save the image then when I right clicked again I could save the image. There is no pattern to when I can or can't save the image. What kind of context menu do you see instead?
You can right-click such an image and use Inspect Element to open the Inspector to see what gets selected instead.

Cannot right-click sometimes

I can't remember 100% for sure when it started, I think around firefox 5.XX or so though. None of the results in the search were the same as my issue. Mine is very specific in that, SOMETIMES (About 3 times a day) I will be unable to right-click in firefox. Right-clicking will literally do nothing for about 1-3 minutes then it will magically work again. I know it's not my mouse because during that time frame I am still able to right-click anywhere else on my entire computer..IM boxes, desktop, ect. It is possible that it's an add-on but It did also happen in FF safe mode when I tried that...
It actually just did it when I was trying to paste the trouble shooting information

If Finder quits when you either:• Control-click an object.
• Right-click an object using a two-button mouse.This may be due to either:• Installed software that added a bad contextual menu item.
• Removed software that left a contextual menu item behind.What software did you last install or remove? Does its documentation refer to its use of Contextual Menu items?
Contextual menu items can be installed in two places:(1) Your Home > Library > Contextual Menu Items folder.
(2) Computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Contextual Menu Items folder.If the item is in the folder listed in (2), then:
- Under Tiger or Panther, you'll be prompted to authenticate this operation by providing your Admin password when trashing it.
- Under Jaguar, you may have to change the Owner to you (via Get Info > Ownership and Permissions) before you can trash it.

TA26514 What do you do when someone has "right clicked" make an alias and it is gone?

I am new to Mac and going through the Mac 101 online but somehow when I was learning about the finder action menu I performed the right click action and ended up deleting (I think) the make alias from the list. Is it important? Will I use is lots? How do I get it back?

The "Advanced" router for Verizon customers has a red front panel. This has GigE ports, 802.11n, more memory and a faster processor. Actiontec calls it the "GigE" model.
I believe Rev I. was the first version of this faster router, although I've never seen rev G or rev H. It's possible the revision number may increase in the future with no or limited feature changes if a hardware issue needs to be fixed. That's why there is both a name, "GigE" and a revision, "rev I" for this router.
In short, the Verizon "Advanced" router, the Actiontec "GigE" router, and Rev I are all same names for the same piece of equipment.
Finally, you said your speed isn't what you expect. Be sure to test speed using a wired connection. If you're not getting what you paid for over Ethernet, call Verizon. If you are, then you need to adjust your WiFi to get the best speed possible. Note that if you live in an area with lots of WiFi routers nearby, it may not be possible to get the fastest speeds. Check out many threads on this forum and dslreports.com for suggestions on how to improve WiFi speeds.
