Rights on objects accessed through DB link

I have a doubt that can a schema of a database access the objects of a schema in a different database using a DB link only or do we need to give right of the object first, if it is so, how to give the right.
I will illustrate with a eg., say we have 2 databases, DB1 & DB2 and there are 2 schemas, SCH1 in DB1 & SCH2 in DB2, i have a link DB1_to_DB2. The grant from DB1 will be as normal
grant all on SCH1 to SCH2
or
grant all on SCH1 to SCH2@DB1_to_DB2.
I hope, my question is clear. Please help in solving the doubt.

Hi,
When you are connecting through a DB Link, the objects from the target schema are accessed with the rights of the user you defined when you create the DB link.
Following your example, if the DB1_to_DB2 link is from DB1 to DB2 database and when you created the DB Link you specified SCH2 as user name for connection, the objects from SCH2 will be accessed with the rights of SCH2, you do not need to grant access to SCH1 on SCH2 objects if your link is from DB1 to DB2.

After accessing a web site through a link I get the message file not found when trying to access it again.

This has happened on several sites. I have tried to access the same links through Chrome and do not have a problem there.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Are you using cleanup software like CCleaner or other software that may corrupt the cache?
You can try to delete the entire cache folder. 
You can find the location of the cache folder on the about:cache page (open via the location bar, like a web page).
You can check the browser.cache.disk.enable pref on the about:config page to verify that the disk cache is enabled (should be true).

I am using Oracle 10g. I am having a function which is being called in a 'Select' query. And with in the function i have done exception handling, in which in case of exception, i am inserting the records into one table and its is 'pragma automnomous'. So its working fine , when i called this function through the 'Select' query from my own DB. but when i called the function from another DB through DB link, its giving me error stating , DML is not possible in function.
can you please suggest some other alternatives or hoe to handle this situation?

Rights on objects

what would be the sufficient tables to check for rights given to other users in the same database or different databases accessing our database through a link. I use 'all_col_privs' for privileges given on columns & 'user_tab_privs' for privileges on tables. Are these tables enough for checking rights on tables & objects or there needs to be other system tables for
accessing this kind of information. Please help in solving the doubt as it is urgent.

You can use all_col_privs and all_tab_privs to see table- and column-level privileges granted to all users in the database. You can use user_col_privs and user_tab_privs to see those privileges for the current user. I can't imagine a situation where you would want to mix the all_ and user_ tables.
You would probably want to take into account any roles the users have been granted, since roles can have object privileges assigned to them. Note that roles can also be nested, so you'd want to traverse the full hierarchy. Not sure if you want to account for default and non-default roles differently.
What about system privileges (i.e. SELECT ANY TABLE)?

Please have BPEL loggers both at domain and system level to DEBUG mode. Set all loggers to DEBUG as you are interested to see the entire sequence flow..however, some loggers give you unnecessary info ;/ apart from cube, activation, delivery, dispatch, persistence.
Added to this, you might want to try SOAPUI, Fiddler, HTTP Analyzer.

OBIEE 11g - APEX Integration through Action links

Hi All,
We are trying to achieve SSO between OBI and APEX. We got this working by the below process.
1. Integrate OBI domain with AD
2. Integrate APEX with the same AD ( Perform standalone configuration)
3. Create Action Link in OBI pointing to APEX form
4. Accessing Action Link does not prompt the credentials
5. APEX form opens up in a separate tab in browser
We checked this by logging into OBI using an AD ID and jumping to APEX from there through action link. However the user context is not getting carried forward to APEX. For example if we login as "d123456" AD user in OBI, when we access APEX form the user name is appearing as "NO BODY" at the top right corner. We have a use case where in we want to capture the ID who is accessing the APEX form. The field is updated as NOBODY.
But if we login to APEX stand alone URL, then the actual AD user name can be seen on APEX pages.
Can some one help on how to carry forward the user context from OBI to APEX.

BO 4.1 LCM not able to access through Web Browser

I installed BO 4.1 in my Vmware workstation 10. successfully. its working fine all tools and web based tools like CMC and BI launch pad.
I have problem while connecting to LCM through below link.

Once i get hit this link on google crome browser I'm getting below error. Please anyone suggest me how to access LCM in my local server.

Full Keyborad Access - Tab between links

I want to access all the links in the web page using key board navigation on safari. I have turned on full keyboard access in my System Prferences. Now I could navigate through other form elements but not links on my page. I am using iBook G4 os 10.3.9 and my safari version is 1.3.2(v312.5)
When I turned on full keyboard access, I could tab through links in firefox browser.
Is there any way I could achieve this on safari?

It sounds like you got the right preference...in System Prefs you went to Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts then set Full keyboard access to All Controls? That's the right setting to change. I don't believe there's anything in Safari itself that you would change. Whether or not it behaves exactly like Firefox I'm not sure but I think that's all you can do...

Audit object access

Hello, I am trying to understand "Audit object access", I have it turned on and I am capturing all Success and Failures of every file share I have on our File Server.
However, that is my issue. I am capturing everything. Is there a way to only capture certain file shares. I noticed that under the auditing tab, its has "include inheritable auditing........"
Example:
In this example, I want to capture successes and failures for all users who access Events and Images folders.

Simply disable the current auditing on the root of your folders. Once done, enable it only on the folders you would like to audit.
Reading such logs is usually a difficult task and time consuming. For that, it is recommended to use a third party tool with a UI for auditing. The one I usually recommend is Lepide Auditor for File Server: http://www.lepide.com/file-server-audit/

Right way of accessing FTP server

I had an important doubt on what is the right way to access an FTP server, is it through the browser or through Windows explorer. I think, the right way is through Windows explorer.

Go use a FTP client program to get files from a FTP server.
If you insist on it being something graphical, go find such a program and install it.

The simplest method if you are hoping to pull something down to a computer running Linux would be for you learn to use the command line FTP protocol in a terminal window.

Remote panel and selective control access through Security with DSC

Hi Everyone,
I looked around to see what labview had to offer concerning security of remote panel and all the solutions I've found only propose full access to a remote panel, or none. The login page is not an option for me as everyone on the intranet can access the remote panel for monitoring but not everyone can have control to the buttons on it.
With the DSC module, I can give securities to the different controls and it works great with the exe, if I log in or out, the controls appears or disapears. Unfortunately, with remote panels, those controls are always visibles. Furthermore, when I log in from a remote panel, all the other remote panels get logged in with the same username and priviledges. When I log out, same thing, it logs out all the other remote panels. So the last guy who logs in gives its priviledges to every one else who is monitoring the remote panel at that time. when he logs out, he logs everyone out. I used a reentrant vi hoping that this would solve the problem but it didnt.
I would like to do what my colleague does with Advantech without any problem. He has only 1 .exe is running on the server and whoever connects to it through webserver, just needs to log in and he has all the priviledges of an guest, operator, admin, etc.. with access to controls and features accordingly. All this without interfering with the other people using the remote panels. This colleague has always been doubtful about the capabilities of labview to do SCADA systems and uptil now, I've been able to prove him wrong.. please help me continue
There are workarounds, using remote desktop to the server instead of webserver but it definitely is not as practical for the client and it will need quite some work to to synchronise all the exes open from the differents sessions, through the use of shared variables, binding and securities.

The NI security info is on the server (local domain with groups and users), and the running exes as well. The remote panel is not supposed to be accessed by internet, at least not yet, but just by the computers on the network and thinkline computers who are directly connected to the servers. the remote panel is accessed through the simple url: http://serverip/Application.html
There is no problem with accessing the remote panel of the exes on the server from another computer on the network. But there are several security issues when logging in and out with the NI Security Programmatic Login and logout VIs through the remote panel..
The 1st problem occurs when several people access the remote panel at the same time. In my setup, everyone is allowed to check what's happening on the front panel of the running exe, go through the tabs, check the graphs, the tables, etc.. , but only the administrators and the operators can send commands to the machines and the production line through this remote panel. Hence some buttons are accessible to all users, while others are only accessible depending on the privileges of the person logged in.
So like I said in the 1st post, I configured some buttons to be accessible only by the users of the admin group. When the exe runs, it's perfect, if I log in and out with an admin account, the buttons appears and disappear accordingly. But when I check the remote panel, those admin buttons are always visible, even if I am logged in as a guest or even logged out. Is it because the remote panel only needs minimum runtime engine and doesnt use the dsc runtime engine? if so, any work around?
Furthermore, another big problem is that if I login as an admin in one remote panel, then login as an guest in another remote panel, and then logout back from the first remote panel, it says: "User Domain/Guest logged out". Hence, my second login logged out my first user. I can actually see the admin buttons appearing and disappearing on the exe when login as admin and guest from the different remote panels.
So that's it, I would like my remote panel to behave like a normal scada system, with one exe running in the back (on the server) and with all the users accessing it through web server. Several users might/will access the remote panel at the same time and each of the users have a login/password that grant some of them the privileges to take some actions while giving the others only monitoring rights.

Internet Access through TMG for all HO & Branch office

Dear Experts!,
I am new to the Forefront TMG 2010. Have requirement to implement internet access.
Head office : 192.168.11.x/24 (192.168.11.1 is the TMG server)
Branch Office 1: 192.168.12.x/24
Branch Office 2 : 192.168.14.x/24
Branch Office 2 : 192.168.16.x/24
Forefront TMG 2010 standard edition.
Having 3 NIC's two have different ISP network addresses and one has 192.168.11.1.
Branch office are connected using MPLS network, the requirement is all branch site internet must be accessed through TMG 2010 server which is homed in Head Office. How to achieve ?
What needs to be done in external firewall and in TMG for enabling internet access.

You need to request your MPLS provider to change the Default Route of below subnet to 192.168.11.1. By doing this, all the internet request from the below subnet to internet will hit TMG.

Right. If you are using delegated privs and sudo, make sure that sudo is configured to pass on the PERL5LIB and ORACLE_HOME environment variables at least.
