RIP Amex BCE

Well the purge of useless cards have begun in preparation of fine tuning my portfolio. First up, BCE. Unfortunately Sallie Mae has totally made this card useless to me. And rather than keep it sock drawered, I just decided to close it. I only got it in the first place because I was going to close my old Delta Gold before the fee became due and transfer my $25k limit to BCE which is only $2k. However, I later learned I could simply pc to HHonors which I did. One less card to manage! YAY! Next up Diner's Premier!

Good call.  No sense paying that kind of money for something you don't use.  That $95 is well worth the Hidden TL. Usage or Not. The Fact that you can Charge at will with no affect what so ever to your fico. says volumes. Its not like it is a regular Tl. so pony up. save the pennys. But pay.Well here's the thing. True it's a hidden tl. But I'm not feeling paying 13.5% apr on a card and I have a 8% Ring and a promotional 6.99% apr HHonors. So if I needed to carry a balance, I would do so on a much lower apr card. Or use the hidden RBFCU 8.90% apr ploc I'm apping in a few months. For sure the ring is a game changer as far as Apr and even promo apr is very good. if you got another hidden Tl. 13.15 is actually not that bad either baller. in my case it is not my lowest. but my Credit union card is 9.99. but wow. Bmo has been good to me. so im loyal. i maxed it out soon as i got it. and slow payed as well. always 2-8 times minimum. but they have never said a single word to me. keep in mind i only have 5k limit. but im sure lots of 20k to 40k limits is what i was thinking. I see you are really getting rid of the Af cards. What did you pc to get the hilton?. I know they will do the Delta as well to hilton if i want no AF card. and i may just do that when i hit 13 months in November. Will you lose your history when you Pc. or they keep the card number the same with the account number?

  • Sallie Mae MC and AMEX BCE ACCEPTED! Also CHASE FREEDOM!

Tonight I was accepted for the AMEX BCE and Sallie Mae World Mastercard! EDIT: ALSO CHASE FREEDOM! AMEX: $3000 CLSM MC: $5000 CLCHASE FREEDOM: $2500  I still need to do some researching on the world version of the MC, but I'm excited! Hopefully can get a Chase Signature in a few months! My Discover FICO showed: 746 but last update was 6/21/15 and I had a statement date of 6/27 that reported less than 1% utilization down from about 30%. Amex gave me a $250 bonus if I spend $1000 in 3 months, and SM is $25 after 1 purchase in 3 months I believe. Reported employed student making $25k (estimated if I remain in my job) 22 years old.

After posting 2 replies that disapeard after page refreshed. a short version. I may do Freedom now and only have $1500 in 3 months spending to get bonuses(Missed out on $200 for Freedom). I want to wait on CSP to spread spending out on bonuses. And If I wait till after August I can use the 40k point bonus for my August 2016 honeymoon and decide if the card is worth keeping before my AF comes up. It will be nice to use in Canada with no FTF.  After CSP a venture may be after with travel bonus. I should stay under 5 card in 24 months as my portfolio is:Auto Loan: Nov 2012Discover It: July 2013Amex: June 2015Sallie Mae: June 2015 within 24 months: 2If I get Freedom: 3 Then CSP in Fall 2015 or Spring 2016: 4. Then Cap 1 doesn't seem to have same limit so should be good with them after Chase.   EDIT: DID CHASE FREEDOM AS WELL!

  • Should I wait to apply for amex bce or apply for what i've been pre-qual for amex preferred gold

Hi, myfico scores are currently 695 eq, 693 tu & 683 ex. I have been getting emails and most recently a letter in the mail from amex wanting me to apply for the green card. I went to amex website to see what I would pre-qual for and got the green , gold and premier rewards gold card. The two cards that I aspire to get are amex bce and citi double cash. My question is should I take what I can get from amex now and go for a pc in a year (i read can't pc until 13 months has elapsed) our should I just keep on my steady path and wait until I get my score up to 720 -760 and apply? I currently have 3 dept store cc- hsn $750, ny&co $900 & vs $900, sdfcu secured cc $1000, fnbo $3000.  Your thoughts on this is appreciated.

But I would say, why not just apply for both products using only one hard pull? I have seen similar and lower scores get approved for the BCE. But if you look at the pulls data base you will see the BCE is harder to get than the ED.  You may want to consider the two. I also thought that the BCE was what I really wanted at first, until I discovered the value of MR points. With the ED, no annual fee, easily 2.4 per dollar at grocery stores and 1.2 on everything else, and that can basically be worth double when redeeming for travel. Dont worry about the annual fee of the PRG. You can cancel it. But it does come with 100 a year free for airline fees.

  • Amex BCE pre approved letter in mail

Hello all, I recently got my second letter from Amex about to the BCEonly thing is only a couple week ago I was denied due to insufficient credit historyI was however approved for the freedom and venture the same day. What can this be? I was planning on keeping my 3 cards and letting them grow for a whileBut I really want this card. What do you guys think I should do ?wait it out or risk another inquiry and apply for BCE again. Would it be convenient for me to get it now or still wait?

  • Want to apply for Amex BCE

I have a question  and are in need of some advice. I would like to apply for American express blue cash card.  I am just wondering i it woud be worth the hard pull n case of denial. My current fico scores are for TU-733 EXP-740 EQ-738.  My utilization is 30% with all of my cards i currently have VS-1,390 (currently) Kays Jewelry 7,500 Capital One Mastercard 2,250 Discover It 2,700Capital One quicksilver Visa2500 Macys 2700  Right now I do hold some balances on my cards but never have ever had a late payment. My income is 45,000 a year. My most recent card is the discover it which i was approved for in April.  I have 1 inq on Tu Eq-1 and Exp.is reporting 2 Oh yes i also have an amazon store card for 1800 with no pending balance.  Just curious to what my chances would be for the American express card.

  • AMEX Everyday Preferred Pending App - CSR responses have varied.

Last week I was feeling it with my 650 FICO scores across the board and decided to apply for an AMEX revolver. I have two business cards from them, the American Express Gold Rewards card and the True Earnings Costco card (with the latter soon to become useless since Costco dropped AMEX). i recieved mix responses from 3 different CSR and I was wondering if anyone experienced this before. I didn't get an approval or a denial, simply a message that said my application is under review. Right now on the application status page it shows : We will notify you once your application has been processed, or if we need additional information. If you wish to view an electronic communication of your decision details once we have made a decision, click here.
I also got an email that contained this message: So I called them up 3 times today: 1st call was a female CSR. She told me my application is under review and I needed to wait 4-5 business days. I asked her what could be the possible reasons for such a long hold up and she told me it's because initially I probably didn't qualify but because of some certain factors or that I might have a history with American Express they are manually reviewing the application. Here is where it gets weird 2nd call was a male CSR and he told me because I already applied for the AMEX BCE and was denied (WHICH I DID NOT APPLY FOR),  my application for the AMEX Everyday Preferred card was also declined and to wait for the letter in the mail. I told him I did not apply for the BCE and he told me to hold on. He then apologized, took my SSN once again and told me that I was right and I did not apply for the BCE but the application was denied and to wait for the letter in the mail. My application status is still at "In Progress" so I decided to call one more time. 3rd call was a female CSR and she told me that another represenative has already took a look at my account. I told her I called back because a male CSR told me my application was denied and I wanted to know if that was the cause. She said it's still pending, under review and has not been denied. She told me to call back within 2-3 business days. Thoughts?

Have you called 1-800-576-8942? It's new accounts, you should try someone there but they're pretty much as clueless.

  • Got the Amex blue cash preferred with a 666 Equifax score!

I recently found the Amex BCE offer of $200 cash back sign up offer (I can link if someone wants it) and I wasnt going to apply this early since I bought a house but I didnt want to miss out on it but guess it was worth the risk! I left the Amex family in 2013 (had a amex gold) so I was hesitant that they may not accept me for the recent inquiries and closing that amex card. The credit limit is "termporary" I dont know what that means but they even let me get the account number to make purchases instantly which is nice. I think I am finally satisfied with the number of cards and type of cards for my profile.

  • Ask for amex x3 cli or wait?

I recently was approved for 3 cards all on the same day. One of which was the amex bce. I've read a lot of people asking for x3 cli upon activation. I'm a bit nervous to do so given the fact that I opened 2 other cards the same day. Should I give it a shot or wait? Don't want to start this relationship off on the wrong foot.
If it matters, I will be closing some of my accounts since I was able to add these 3

INQ 6-8What are the limits on your other cards? I am asking these questions to see why your starting limit is 2k.  They use the information in your entire file to make the initial decision as to how much to approve you for. So I hope you don't mind me asking..And how old is your file? Short history could be a factor.Agreed..

  • Finally made the 800 club!! To app spree or not to app spree...

So I've been waiting for my NFCU payoff to post after my credit card debt was consolidated onto a low interest personal loan. I've been saving up the CreditCheckTotal $1 trial until I noticed the balance was paid so I didn't have to wait for myFico to update (yes, I'm that impatient, you have no idea). Well, 3 days after the statement posted, EQ and EX were finally updated, and I went ahead with the CCT trial and got this: This is a first! I was in the 400s in 2011/2012 when I started on the rebuilding section of the board, so this has been a journey for me. Never would I have imagined I'd been in the 800s, especially with my horrible credit past. Now the dillema, I've been waiting for this so I could app for a few cards I've been wanting, mainly the Slate for the 0% BT offer, and the CSP to pair with my Freedom for rewards and the Amex BCE. Also considering one of the Chase hotel cards.. but now that I have an 800+ score, I'm not sure I want to apply anymore and ruin this great score! Don't know what to do.. decisions, decisions! I've been itching to go on an app spree....

    Thanks everyone!  Redeyz wrote:
Wonderful achievement! This is somewhat of a lifechanging moment since you've crossed a threshold you probably thought impossible. I have a couple questions though.- How much CC debt did you consolidate through the low interest personal loan?- And what score decrease did you see from getting an installment loan versus the point increase from paying off the CC debt? Was it neutral or more positive paying off the CC balances? I'd say...hold off and let that beautiful score of 805 stick around for a month, and in the meantime evaluate which card or cards best fit your longterm objectives and then apply in a month. Congrats again. The CC consolidation was about 20k @ 6.41% through SoFi and hasn't posted to my credit report. So I'm sure I'll take a small hit when that happens. According to the simulators, which have been mostly accurate, I'll drop 5 points. I'm still waiting for TU to post all of this months credit card payoffs, but they seem to be taking forever so I'm not sure what my score with them will be, but they've been consistent with Experian, so I hope they also put me > 800. The simulators also show that a new CC will drop me to 770.. I wanted to BT a majority of my loan over to the Slate assuming I could get a high SL with them, but something in me just wants to deal with the interest I'm paying on the loan (~$450ish by the time it's paid off) and keep the high score lol. I got in with my Mortgage at 3.375% when I hit the 700s in 2012, So aside from paying off this last consolidation loan, I have no other short term credit goals so technically I have room to play and wouldn't mind getting a few more cards to stiffen my AAOA for years down the road.

  • Looking to dump 4 or 5 cards

Hi All I have much more available credit than i will ever need - and thinking of reducing some of my cc accounts, which may make better cards with higher limits available to me, further down the road?? This is what I have - and suggestions would be great  Amex BCE - I had an $8k CL here and then opened an ED last week - they gave me just a $3800 CL on my ED - but took it from my BCE - so now have the same $8k, but it is now split between 2 amex's I have 0% on ED for 15 months - and the BCE is now 19.9% OUCH!! - Im thinking of combining the CLs Chase Slate - CL of $7500 - balance of $5500 - transferred balances and making use of the 0)% - Will be 14.99% after intro Citi Double Cash - CL of $10k, balance $1200, still some 0% left, then 12.99% Citi Diamond Preferred - $2700 CL (transferred some to DC) - $0 balance - 19.99% Discover It - $8800 CL - $1200 Balance, 0% expired - now 16.99% US Bank Flex Perks - $9k CL - $0 Balance - Couple months of 0% left then 15.99% US Bank Platinum - $17k CL - $1650 balance - o% for a while left yet - then 19.99% Not sure why Citi DC is 12.99% yet Diamond is 19.99% ?? Im happy with the payments that I am making now, but read that different types of credit is a good thing - woulkd you consider a consolidation loan?? Thanks for your thoughts

You've got some large balances, and you will need all these cards to take advantage of the BT offers to save interest. Close if you want to, but its going to jump your utilization and drop your score with these balances. Good luck!

  • What are my odds??

Next week I would like to apply for the Amex ED.
Back story...I applied for Amex Bce in April and was denied. Stats at the time 645 ex 30% util. Reason for denial was fico score.
    Judgement (unpaid 2009)
Loan amount to high (only took the loan out November)
Util was too high compared to limits
    Aaoa
I have now brought my ex score up to 708 and util 10%.
Unfortunately the judgement is on until March.
I am pre qual for venture, venture 1, QS, and Prestige.
I'm gonna apply for the venture next week, but I also would like the Amex ED.
What do you think my chances are at being approved for the ED card?

I was approved for the ED with two 7 year old collections showing and 5 late pays... but I will tell you that I wish I would have waited until the collections fell off (they were removed shortly after I applied). They started me with a $1k limit, denied my first request for a CLI, and the only reason they approved my 2nd CLI request was because by then the collections were gone. You can try now if you want, but you might get stuck with a very low limit until the judgment is gone.

Bank of America Better Rewards:  7000 CL, 0 balance
Sallie Mae World Mastercard:  1600 CL, 0 balance Most of the cards that have a balance on them currently are bills that I would simply pay anyway (such as car insurance, mobile phone, etc., that kind of thing), or are going to be paid off completely in the next couple of weeks (for example, that Freedom is paid as of next week, flat out).  However, that Discover card is, quite obviously, the anchor dragging me down.  It’s an old card with very old purchases and I never really paid much attention to paying it off completely before this, being content to just “let it ride”, especially with the limit on it.  However, my husband DESPISES Discover, especially the APR rate that I have on this account (he considers it “extortion” level) and he’s determined that we pay it off and dump it altogether.  I have to say that I concur, as I don’t really use it anymore.  My utilization rate, according to my calculations, is somewhere around 11 percent across the board, but that Discover card alone, it’s quite obvious that the util is high, higher than I want, anyway.  Would it be beneficial to do a couple of balance transfers onto some of the higher limit cards (i.e., Justice FCU, Bank of America, Venture, etc.) and spread out the amount owed so that the util rate on Discover drops?  We’re not spending anything more than what we already have currently (most of the cards are being used for monthly bills that we would normally owe anyway), so the overall util rate won’t rise.  I figure that if I divide the balance between cards, it’ll be quicker to pay it all off because it won’t seem like such a huge wall to overcome, if that makes sense. My ultimate goal is to purchase a new home in a couple of years, as we have a new baby and our current home is honestly way too small to accommodate a new child.  I also have student loans that are currently in a grace period but will activate in December, so I want to prepare for that as well.  We’re well on our way to wiping out all CC balances (though it may not look like it by this account), so I want to make it easier to get that done faster.  Any advice, or am I on target with this plan? Annual income is 84k, scores are currently in the high 700s, if that matters. Edited to add:  I want to try not to put a balance transfer on my Amex, because that's the card we use the most (groceries, gas, etc.) and I'm vigilant about PIF'ing that particular one every month. Thanks in advance.

I have a BoA Better Rewards card with a 0% APR BT offer until July of next year, so I was hoping to maybe transfer half of the balance from the Discover onto that in order to save a little money, but.... if it's not worth considering, I may not bother.  As you say, it's not THAT high, but 40% util on one card kind of bothers me.... No BT fees on the BoA, by the way, which is also an incentive.  I do think that splitting up the balance onto different accounts will motivate me to pay it down faster because it doesn't LOOK so overwhelming.  It's the same exact amount, I know, but two 3500 dollar balances "look" better than one big 7000 one.  Oh then now you should absolutely take advantage of it - no BT fees and 0% APR for a year... that'll save you bunches of money!
What's the limit on the BoA? Because the more money you move onto it, the more money you save by getting it out of that 19.99% APR. Since it's 0% I'd just try to put as much as you're comfortable with onto it, even if it means the card is at 70-80%. If you need help feeling comfortable with a high % utilization, I'd do the interest calculations to see how much you'd save, and that might motivate you. Every $1000 you take off the discover card will save you $200+ in interest over a year. Then I'd put majority of the money towards paying off whatever balance remains on the 19.99% discover, to save interest. Once that's paid off, then begin paying down the balance on the 0%. And good luck finding/buying a nice house!
Was the 0% BT fee on your BofA card a promo? I've only seen 3% whenever I've checked into applying for that card. If it truly is 0%, just do the BT and pay it off.

  • What has been your AU credit score increase?

Hi All! I'm just wondering what has everyone's score experiences been when they were added as an AU to some high limit cards. I was just added on to a families members two cards that they don't use or if they do, they PIF before statement cuts. The two cards I was added to were an Amex BCE at $20,000 limit and a Barclay AA Red Aviator card at $17,000 limit. These two card along with my two current credit limits will total around $40,000 in credit. I'm currently in the rebuilding process after completely ruining my finances during college. Current scores are EQ - 610, TU - 632, EX - 604. Thanks for the insight!

^^^ Thank's for the information. I know Amex is not backdating anymore, but I'm not too woried as my current AAoA as it stands without the two new cards is a little over 6 years. I'm currently waiting till September for my Cap1 QS1 credit steps to kick in. Hopefully I'll be among those who gets a $2-3K CLI....one can only hope I guess.  I'll be in the garden till' at least next summer. I have no collections, but a few charge offs from Cap1 3 years ago that were completely PIF. Also have car loan and student loans that have never missed a payment in loan history. Hopefully my scores will start to increase here soon.  Goal is get at least 2-3 cards with $5k+ Limit. Looking to have an Amex Everyday card, Chase Saphire, and Cap1 Venture in the future. More focused on travel rewards than cashback.
