  • "Could not find database!"

I installed an air package with embedded data on an XP
    machine and got the message:
    "Could not find database!"
Sure enough, it couldn't. I build the package on an OSX
machine, where it works fine, and simply dragged it to a windows
share accessible by the PC. My understanding was that the build
process was platform agnostic, but could I have been wrong? Trivial
tests without a database worked fine previously.
    Thanks, Al

  • Regarding ORA-01102 ORACLE COULD NOT MOUNT DATABASE IN EXCLUSIVE MODE.

    Hellow Friends,
I was testing my recovery strategy for control file. Out of two my control files I deleted one and tried to start when oracle gave me error that could not find so and so file in such and such location. I than copied first member which is in other location to the deleted file location. Since than I could not start my database gving me same error ORA-01102.
Yes I can recreate control file because I am having all my other files intact.
Now is there anybody who share knowledge with me to feel me pride of such honour.
    Thanks All.
    Your Friend.
    Sumeet.

    Hi all
On this - it had me vexed for a while, I was installing
8.1.7 on Solaris 2.9 - but when I went to prep the db,
kept on getting the error 01102.
Found out that if I shut down the db (immediate),
changed the 'remote_password' param to shared then went back in to svrmgr - reshut the database and redid startup pfile=$ORACLE_HOME/etc it cured the problem.
Suspect this is a hangover from 7, when Oracle kept enforcing defaults on setting up dbs, bit like their catalog and catproc scripts, they still have errors that were there in the
    year dot.
    Cheers

  • DLL is used to open MS Access Database file, worked outside TestStand, and could not open Database file in TestStand

I created a dll using VC++ to open/read MS Access Database file. The dll works when running outside TestStand, When I used the dll in TestStand, the MS Acces Database file could not open.

    To Steve1 -
Some questions that come to mind to help with solving this are:
    1) Are you using any ActiveX control components to assist you in accessing the database?
    2) Are you using ADO or DAO or ODBC to access your data?
    3) When you called the DLL successfully outside of TestStand, what was the OI written in?
    4) Since you own the source code, what is the error or exception that is thrown and on what ADO or DAO function call does it fail?

    Hi,
According to your description, your problematic database is in dirty shutdown state and your soft repair ends with errors. In this case, I'd like to say, the dirty shutdown state may be caused by that the required log files are missing. Thus, I recommend
you try the hard recovery by using  Eseutil /p or
    Eseutil /d /r.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259851/en-us
    Thanks,

  • Sometimes could not view Database job icon in Jobs page

In dev Tidal  with admin access, sometimes the 'Database job' is missing on the main 'Jobs' page. Like the one below is missing the icon:
So the job details are not appearing.
This is happening in Windows 7 and in Windows XP no issues. The version of Tidal client is 5.3.1.
Could some one let me know what needs to be done to fix this issue?
    Thank you.

Copied the  client folder contents to a new folder(DEV) inside of Client and changed the properties of the Tidal client to reflect it:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\TIDAL\Scheduler\Client\DEV"
This seems to be working now.

  • Could not startup database because of controlfile

    Hi, all
I have an oracle 10.1.0.2 running on Redhat Linux E3.
I tried these steps to startup the database but failed.
    [oracle@flulinux01 bdump]$ export $ORACLE_SID=+ASM

I exported the $ORACLE_SID=orcl10g, and the result was the same.
The alert file is like this:
    $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/alert_orcl10g.log

    And I tried perform these:
    SQL> select * from v$asm_disk;
    no rows selected
    SQL> select * from v$asm_diskgroup;

It seems the ASM doesn't work, and the control files are in the ASM disk group. Is that the reason? The initorcl10g.ora is like this:

  • Could not find the Database Engine startup handle.

Why can't Microsoft make software that "Just Works" any more.
This is Sooooo frustrating!  I'm a developer.  I want to write database software and I'd like to use SQL Server.  But I can't even get the damn thing to install on a fresh Windows 8.1 installation.
MySQL - installs no problem - it just works.
Oracle - Installs no problem - It just works.
I downloaded SQL Server 2012 Express with SP1, ran the Install, took most of the defaults, and I get:
    Install Failed:
    The following error has occurred:
Could not find the Database Engine startup handle.
    For help, click:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkID=20476&ProdName=Microsoft%20SQL%20Server&EvtSrc=setup.rll&EvtID=50000&ProdVer=11.0.3128.0&EvtType=0xD15B4EB2%25400x4BDAF9BA%25401306%254025
Of course, clicking on the link takes me to a non existing web page - what else?  Just incompetence everywhere.  This is Microsoft's own operating system yet they can't even get their own database to install while their competitors can.
How can they let this happen!
Then I googled the above error message.  - Hundreds of hits and a lot of them are threads in forums and lots of civilians saying "try this try that"  none of which works. Not a single Microsoft Employee to be found in any of the
discussions or answers.  And this same problem has been happening since 2008! Yet Microsoft can't be bothered to fix it.
This kind of buggy software shouldn't have made it past Alpha testing.
Come on Microsoft, you just have to try harder.  I can understand bugs that happen in unusual circumstances, after all I'm a developer too.  But this won't even install on a clean Windows 8.  It's tantamount to releasing a "Hello
World"  program that crashes on startup!

    Hi Bob,
If you make sure all your hardware and software requirements are met for installation of SQL Server 2012 on window 8.1 Its highly unlikely you will face issue.I can understand your situation so let me help you.As Kalman pointed can you paste output
of setup log file which was generated due to failed installation using Kalman's link.
Did you went thorugh below link
How to install SQL server on Win 8.1
Hardware and software requirements for SQL Server 2012
Please first read above links understand how it works and then proceed
Regarding startup handle error .AFAIK its because of Account with which you are trying to install SQL server somehow is not able to start it up after installation.Basically a righst issue. Can be different in some cases. Now whenever you install SQL server
alsway RK on Setup file and select run as administrator. When you reach page window where you need to select startup account for SQL Server please select NT Authority\System( or local system account) .
