RoboHelp 7 - Most Images Missing of Word 2003 Output

Does anyone know why my images would stop being displayed 100
pages into a 500-page Word 2003 document? Instead of images (after
this point), all I see are tiny green squares. This is after
waiting for images to load and formatting the document.

Hi Peter,
I came across this fix, but when I selected the link to
document option, RH7 froze during the "Generating Printed
Documentation" process. I can't get it to cancel now. Strange.
1. Create the document in RoboHelp and choose the "Link to
Document" check box.
2. In Word click Edit | Links.
3. In the dialog select all the files.
4. Tick the "Save pictures in Document" check box.
5. Click OK.
This problem is fixed in Adobe RH7 with update 7.01.001
applied.

  • Missing Adobe Tab in Word 2003

I'm using Word 2003 and need to convert to pdf. Word 2003 does not give an option to save as a pdf or to Export. I downloaded the free trial of Acrobat, but there's no Adobe tab at the top of the page in word. I'm going by this youtube video (link below). I don't know if somehow I installed Acrobat wrong or what. Thanks so much for your help.

  • Missing images in output to Word 2003

When I embed the images in the printed doc output, they show
up in the word 2003 doc as a box with an X in it. Why? I have tried
bumping up the virtual memory on my machine - that didn't solve it.
If I "link" the images, they show up, but I cannot link the images
    in this document. Please help.

Figured out a work-around.... Create the document in RoboHelp
and choose the "Link to Document" check box. When you view the doc
for the first time (it only works if the doc has not been saved) in
Word, click the Edit, Links menu. In the dialog select all the
files and check the "Save pictures in Document" check box. This
works, I tested it by going to another machine that does not
contain my help files and all the pictures were displayed
Not perfect, but it will get you there.

  • Linked images in my Word document don't show up in RoboHelp

I'm using RoboHelp 8 and Microsoft Word 2003 on Windows XP. I create a new WebHelp project. I added all the .png image files from my Microsoft Word directory to Baggage Files. I then used the Link>>Word Document function to add my Word document to the RoboHelp project. Set my preferences for style pagination, did a Force Update All. However, most of the images I inserted as links into my Word document don't come through into RoboHelp. Apparently I'm missing a setting somewhere but I can't figure out what it is. In addition, one of the images that did come through is horribly degraded.

Still no joy. All of the images in my Word document are linked .png files.
Here's the step-by-step of what I just did:
    Open Word document
    Tools>>Options>>General>>Web Options.
    Change setting. Click OK
    Click OK
Change text on page one of document to make sure document is "dirty".
    File>>Save As.
    Increment number in file name.
    File>>Exit.
    Launch RoboHelp
    Start new project
Add all .png files to baggage.
    File>>Link>>Word Document
    Select appropriate Word file.
    File>>Project Settings>>Import tab
Edit Word conversion settings to set pagination for heading styles and set Convert Word list to RoboHelp list
    Click OK
    Click Apply
    Click OK
Right-click Word document in HTML Files (Topics) and choose Update>>Force Update All
    no joy

  • Help file fails to generate RoboHelp 7 and Word 2003

Hello, I am back again with a new struggle.  I am creating a WinHelp4 file for an older application using Word 2003 and Robohelp 7.  There are several different results regardless of whether I make updates, corrections, add jumps, change Topic IDs or do nothing when I click on generate:
    1.  sometimes it generates and works perfectly, just not very often, usually between 8 and 805am ET.
    2.  sometime it will generate an error:  Failed to compile
    3.  another error:  filename.rtf does not exist, but it is there in the folder
    4. generates a Warning, but I don't know what the warning is as it does not show it
    5. generates a blank Help with only a single glossary definition
    6. not enough memory ( 1 gb is available)
    7. corrupted file, rerun and it works...sometimes
    I have:
    1. Started over
    2. Rebooted
    3. Uninstalled and reinstalled RoboHelp 7 and all updates
    4. Tried adding one item (jump, new topic, changed topic, updates to TOC, renamed anything) at a time and then generated file
    5. Create an html from Word...I know silly but it worked some of the time.
I feel like there must be a setting error I missing or something hidden that I need to remove.  There is something or a very big bug! I can't find anything and RoboHelp 7, Word 2003 and creating Winhelp4 files have been fine the last 2 months...now...not so fine.
Please help!  I am so close to finished!
    Thanks,
and if this isn't enough, I cannot generate a print to PDF either, but used to!

I wish I could try on a different PC.  This is a government facility and that is not an option.  There are only 2 of us who have RH and I think the other person may have left last week...what luck!
As far as anything else running, that is possible....I may try disconnecting the network and see if it will work...that should check it, right?
Background resources are very probable as their are virus scanners and who knows what else...my rights are very limited, no Admin rights to the machine.
It just amazes me that it has worked and now at the very final stage and updates it will not.  I am in early when it usually works, 745a ET and it failed.  These are the error messages and I usually get this type:
Warning - HC4004: datcap.rtf is not an RTF (Rich Text Format) file.
Warning - HC4009: The Topic ID "Data_Capture_Operations" specified in the Project files as the Default Topic does not exist.
What is odd, is they are both there and have worked consistently up until this recent failure....cannot complile.
I know this is long, but here is the notpad error:

  • Importing tables from Word 2003 into Robohelp for word ^

Does anyone know how to import tables and boxex from Word
    2003 nicely into Robohelp 6

You can capture the table from your original word.doc and
save the image as either a bmp or gif file. In robohelp, insert the
picture where you want it to be located at. Have the table act as
    an image.

  • RoboHELP 6 Crashes When Importing Word 2003 File

Discovered this today by accident (after modifying a Word
2003 file that I was previously able to import to "test" Help files
using both RH HTML and RH for Word (both V6) and thought I'd report
it because it appears to be a bug:
If you select the following option in the Word file that you
are importing, RoboHelp will crash during the import:
Tools, Options, General tab, Web Options, Files tab,
Organize supporting files in a folder
When you do the Import Word file action from RoboHelp, it
starts the import then issues a Microsoft C++ Debug Library message
    box that says:
    Debug Error!
    Program: C:\Program Files\Adobe\RoboHelp

    Hi Peter
Thank you for the suggestion. I created a new project, new
folders, imported the files a few at a time & compiled it each
time (with one build tag in it) and found that only two files made
it crash. On the one file, I removed the tables (which had no
merged cells) from the project and it worked. The other file was
removed completly and I will re-do that page.
I then opened my current project (with all links &
pictures etc TOC working) and imported the changed file and removed
the other file and wala....I have a useable project.
The project was on our own software so unfortunately I would
not be able to share it.
Being a relativley new (1.5 yrs) user, I find running into
bugs are brutal....Thanks for all your help.

  • Missing text in list items when coverting an MS Word 2003 Document

When converting a document from MS Word (2003) to PDF, (using Acrobat 9 Pro.) text is missing from either an ordered or unordered list when the text is within a list item and spans across to a second page.
This symptom is present when using the following methods of creating a PDF.
    ·         In windows explorer, right click and convert to PDF
    ·         Using the Convert to PDF button in the MS Word 2003 tool bar
    ·         Using the Convert to PDF in the File Menu of MS Word 2003
The only workaround seems to be:
    ·         Click File
    ·         Click Print
    ·         Select PDF from the list
    ·         Print
I can't seem to find any updates or fixes either from MS or Adobe that addresses this issue. This issue is present on 5 computers, has anyone had this problem and found a solution o_0

With WORD 2003, set the printer to the Adobe PDF printer and then go back through the document to check for the layout and such. Then print (or use PDF Maker). The other option is to go into the WORD Options, way down in a list of compatibility settings, and turn off use printer metrics. I think either of these will solve your problem.

  • Do you know if it's possible to generate Word 2003 files from RoboHelp if we're using Office 2007 and RoboHelp 2007?

Do you know if it's possible to generate Word 2003 files from
RoboHelp if we're using Office 2007 and RoboHelp 2007? We are
thinking of upgrading, but have customers that would still require
Word 2003 formats because they won't have 2007 installed.
    Thanks!

    Hi NewtoRobohelp
Unfortunately I don't have Office 2007 in front of me to test
with. But I'm thinking that as long as Office 2007 still produces
the same formats as 2003, you could do it this way.
From RoboHelp 7 and using Office 2007, generate Printed
ouptut. Open said printed output in Office 2007 and perform a Save
As. Save the document as a RTF (Rich Text Format) document.
RTF is more universal. So I'm thinking this may be a possible
way around it. There is also the possibility that Word 2007 offers
up an ability when saving a file to save in an older format.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Copying Oval Image from PSE 4.0 to MS Word 2003

I am using Photoshop Elements 4.0, Microsoft Word 2003, a Dell 8300 PC with Windows XP Home, SP2.
I am trying to get an oval image from Elements 4.0 to MS Word 2003 and have it remain just the oval image. So far I can only get it into Word as a rectangular shape with the oval image inside.
Here is what I have - a Word document with a watermark background and then text on top of that. I want to place a 1.5 inch by 2.0 inch oval image in the Word document and wrap the text around it. I can copy/paste the selected oval image from Elements into Word but it appears with the the rectangular shape of the original page with the oval image inside. This rectangular "page shape" then puts "white" over the watermark background in the Word document (which I don't like.) If I save the oval image in Elements as a file and then do a Word picture "Insert", it does the same thing.
I can take this oval image in Elements and copy/paste it to another image and retain the exact oval shape (without the rectangular outline) of course.
Has anyone dealt with this scenario successfully?
    Duane

I was working with Gregory's answer on the Draw/Text Wrap/Edit Wrap points and stumbled upon something I did not know. This may help you.
    Position your photo
Right click on the photo to show the bounding box
On the Picture Toolbox, the next to last icon on the right is Set Transparent Color. When you click the message in the lower left corner will say something like Position cursor over color you want transparent.
I put the cursor between the edge of the oval and the corner of the bounding box to select the white area.
When I did, the watermark below, partially hidden by the original picture, was now visible.
I did not know this function was in Word, but I don't use the Picture Toolbox a lot.

  • Missing bookmarks when printing to PDF (from Word 2003)

When I want to convert my word-document I first used the "convert to Adobe PDF button" that is shown in the top bar in Word. However each time i used this, it was creating failures making Word shut down. So I decided to try and use the Print to option and the instead of a printer select the Adobe PDF driver. This is working great for except for the fact that it does not
add bookmarks to the PDF-file were (if it works) the Convert to PDF methode did. This is also set in the Adobe Acrobat preferences under Convert To PDF, only it does not work when using printing to the Adobe PDF driver. Anyone know how to solve this?
I'm using Word 2003 SP3 and Adobe Scrobat Professional 8.1.2.

  • Printing microsoft word 2003 document and pdf created from the document are different

I created a microsoft word 2003 document with jpg pictures and printed it on my HP Inkjet printer. I then created a pdf by saving as a pdf from the microsoft word 2003 document. The settings for images were 300 dpi and zip compression. The pdf file created was ~3 MB whereas the word document was ~250 KB. It looked fine on the screen but when I printed it the jpg pictures from the pdf were very dark and not very desirable. When I printed it on my HP Color laser 2600n printer I couldn't see the difference in the jpg pictures.
I am creating the pdf files to send to the online publisher lulu.com to print. I have used the settings to create the pdf they recommend from their website; however they aren't real clear in the information they give for the recommended settings.
My question is why would the print out be so awful using the HP Color Ink Jet printer since it is very good for printing pictures?

There are many reasons, but most revolve around the color space and coding for the colors. Acrobat uses 8 bit RGB.

  • Word 2003 always asks to save the normal.dot since Acrobat 9 was installed

    Hello,
Until Acrobat 9 Standard was installed on the 5000 PCs of our company, the following issue never occured.
As soon as Acrobat 9 Standard was installed, our users started to complain of messages asking them to save the normal.dot every time Word 2003 or Outlook 2003 if Word is used as editor, is closed. And even if they save the normal.dot, of course, next time they are requested to save again.
And if we uninstall Acrobat 9 Standard on the PCs concerned, the issue dissapear... and reappear if we re-install it.
So, the issue is clearly linked to Acrobat 9 Standard.
Of course, the Word 2003 option "Confirm to save the normal.dot" is NOT checked.
It doesn't seems to happens on all the PCs but we can't isolate the commun point between those which have the issue.
All our PCs are made by ghosting so are pretty similar, with Windows XP SP3 avec Office 2003 SP3... and now Acrobat 9.1.3 Standard.
In case that would help the diagnostic, on the PCs without the issue, the message doesn't appear, but, still, the behavior of the normal.dot changes : the time stamp changes every time Word or Outlook is closed. Before the install of Acrobat 9, the timestamp was not changing everything, but only of changes were made.
So, I guess Acrobat 9 Standard (probably the add-in for pdfmaker) forces the saving of all the .dot everytime Word or Outlook is closed.
    Can you help us ?
    Thanks

Thanks for your reply, but the issue is the same even when Word is not the default editor in Outlook.
Regarding the Office 2003 and Acrobat 9 updates, we are already up-to-date for Acrobat 9, but it's true that all our PCs have not yet received the SP3 for Office 2003, so it may be a trail to follow.
But I think the issue also happens even on some PCs with most up-to-date Office 2003, so I'd say it's probably not the solution.
But it doesn't seems that this kind of issue is widly encountered (I mean elsewhere than in our company).
So there is probably something specific to our environnement. And since we pretty much "lock-down" the PCs (to avoid users to mess with it), it's not impossible that some restrictions somewhere on the PC causes the issue... at least to some categories of users who are missing some authorisations.
But I'm sure that when we uninstall the "Adobe PDFMaker" component (in add/remove programs), the problem dissappear. So we are probably going to adopt this "solution" to make the steam goes down among our annoyed employees... until we'll find a better one.

  • How do I create a 300 dpi PDF from a Word 2003 file?

I need to convert a Word (2003) file to a High-res PDF file for the printers. They have requested 300 dpi.
I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (trial version).
The file contains a number of pictures in jpg format. Most of these are pretty high resolution. The document printed in Word on a laser printer looks fine.
I did try saving the file a a PDF file, and that did work, however it was low resolution. There must be some settings I have to change. How do I set things so it will creat a high resolution PDF file?

There is no such thing as resolution of a PDF file. Text and vectors in PDF are preserved and get scaled depending on the device on which PDF is shown.
Images in PDF do have a resolution that you can set when creating PDF. When printing your file from Word:
    After File>Print, select printer properties.
In "ADobe PDF Settings" tab, you will see "Default Settings" - click the Edit button next to it.
In the Images pane, select your desired resolution.

  • PDF to Word 2003 problem

I am running Acrobat 9 and Word 2003.  I want to export the .pdf file as a .doc file.  This has worked in the past, but currently doesn't.  I open the <file.pdf> file and then click export --> word.  The document initialized but the OCR doesn't run.  When I open the <file.doc>, it looks like an image.with the little box around it.  I also tried exporting to <file.rtf> and to <file.txt> with the same result.  What am I doing wrong here?

You have to run OCR in Acrobat first, then export. OCR is not typically run as part of the save as process unless I have missed something in the new versions.
