RoboHelp HTML v7to9 Migrate issue, Screen Tip field in images' properties w/DHTML Drop-down hotspot

Hey all, thanks in advance for any info you can provide. All the RoboHelp references below relate to us using the respective version of RoboHelp HTML, and on my XP SP3 pc.
For various reasons, we tried migrating our data from RoboHelp v7 directly to RoboHelp v9, but noticed this same issue also occurred when we tried to migrate our data from RoboHelp v7 to RoboHelp v8, as this was one of the reasons we did not use RoboHelp v8 as our production "version".
I noticed that RoboHelp v9 (and RoboHelp v8) will not populate the "Screen tip:" area/field of the image's properties window with the existing Screen tip text, even though it is in the html code of the page and when viewing the page within RoboHelp (Ctrl-W) or through a browser like IE6 or IE8, the Screen tip text will display when hovering the mouse over the picture. Only the RoboHelp v7 will properly display the text info in the Screen tip area.
Please note, we have most of our images inserted in a DHTML Drop-down hotspot and use buttons associated with a java script to "Show All Images" (or "Hide All Images") and these examples are the ones that the "Screen Tip:" field in the image's properties did not populate in RoboHelp v9.
Is there any easy way to get the ALT text to appear in the actual "Screen tip:" area/field of the image's properties window in RoboHelp v9, or must they be manually entered? Otherwise, currently it shows up as all blank, as though we neglected to fill it in. Is there an actual fix for this? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

How can I configure Robohelp to display search results in DHTML drop-down hotspots?

Hello. We designed our online help using drop-down hotspots (this look is much cleaner to us). Problem is, when a user searches for something and clicks the Search results topic page to find the information, the topic page displays, but does not expand the drop-down hotspot to show the exact location of the searched item. Is there a JavaScript or some other solution to get the DHTML hotspot to expand, showing the information? Thanks.

Step 5: Add the code from the supplied text file to the top whtopic.js.
Do I add the code at the very beginning, before // WebHelp 5.10.005 ?
I'm asking because I followed the steps and it did not work.
FWIW, I am also using the Twisties function in Robohelp (via the drop-down hotspot style file).

RoboHelp 10 - Missing numbers in the Numbered List within a drop-down hotspot

I have applied a numbered list style to a paragraph which is written in a drop-down hotspot within another drop-down hotspot in RoboHelp 10. But I observed, though the 'numbers' are displayed in the editor, they are missing from the generated output. Please suggest a solution.

This is a known issue. Please file a bug report with Adobe: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=38
The only workaround I know of is to use regular lists instead in nested dropdowns.

Populate a Floating Field from Multiple Choices in a Drop Down List

Hi, folks, it's been a while which means things have been going smoothly. But what I'm trying to do at the moment has me stumped.
I have a form that was originally made with a long section of checkboxes that our agents would check if the answers applied to the client's case. This meant that the client had a whole bunch of information that didn't apply to them on the form so I thought would be clearer for the client if the agent would select only those items that pertained to them in a List Box. I used a List Box for multiple choices because several choices could apply to their case. And I wanted those selections to relayout to a floating text field in a paragraph but for the life of me, I can't seem to make that happen. I tried switching to a Drop Down Field and that allows only one selection to relayout.
The paragrah reads "To proceed, we need the following information or the documents identified below:" and then the 15 items would be listed with the checkboxes.
Any suggestions as to how I should do this?

What if you leave them as checkboxes and just put a pre-print event in each of the 15 items to make them visible or hidden based on their value?

Automatically fill input fields based on selection from dynamic drop down

I tried to search before posting, but i cannot find appropriate thread (maybe wrong keyword).
My scenario:
1. In my offline interactive form, I have:
    a. Material Number --> drop down field with "Allow Custom Text Entry" ticked
    b. 1 execution button to call web service
    c. Material Group - Input Field (Read Only)
2. User will enter material number with wild card character (eg: ABC*).
    User will then click the execution button.
    Web Service in result will return all materials that match the entered material number.
    Dynamic binding will do the magic to generate the drop down list.
3. Beside material number, web service will also return material description and material group.
    Below is the illustration:
     Material        Description       Material Group
     ABC              Material ABC           GRP01
     ABCDE        Material ABCDE          GRP02
--- so far so good ---
My requirement:
Every time user select material from the drop down list, i want to auto-populate field "Material Group" (which value is also returned by web service).
I know i need to put the script on event change of the drop down field.
But i don't know how to read internal table returned by web service.
Hope someone can enlighten me.

RoboHelp 7 - Link to Drop-Down Hotspot

Greetings, all.
I'm trying to implement the autoexpand script found on Mr. Grainge's website (http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/autoexpand/auto_expand_method_2.htm). It works fine in RoboHelp's preview (View Selected Item), but it doesn't work when I compile to WebHelp.
A Google Groups search revealed that other people had the same issues with autoexpand and WebHelp. However, the messages had either expired or referenced solutions discussed in private emails.
If someone could point me to an updated script or solution that resolves the issue, I'd really appreciate it.

It was reported to me that the method worked in X5 and RH7. I have just tested it in RH8 and it is working correctly.
It was reported to me that the two instances of kadov in the script can be removed. Try that but it should work with kadov left in.
Check the steps again. Make sure your bookmark does not have any spaces.

English is not in my drop down menu! This is not helping!

Languages are determined by the serial number and region-specific installers. If a language is not listed, it's notr supported by the installer or your serial doesn't allow it. If you feel that is not what you want, get in touch with support to obtain an English version.

Can Screen Tips be output as Alt Text from RH HTML to Word 2007?

I have a large documentation project that is single-sourced in RH HTML to create WebHelp and printed documentation. My expectation is that if I put screen tips in the image properties, these will be converted to alternate text both in WebHelp and printed documentation. WebHelp is fine. I output to Word 2007 because document cleanup is always required. In my Word file, the screen tip is gone, replaced with the document file path. When converted to PDF, that's what appears as alternate text. Is there any way to get this done short of entering the text twice (in RH HTML and again the Word doc)?

When they upgrade you, RoboHelp will have to be reinstalled and that may fix the problem. You are creating the link using the Rh menu rather Word's menus?

Screen tips for images

In Webhelp generated from Robohelp for Word, images show a
screen tip with the path to the image when the mouse hovers over
them. If I generate Webhelp from Robohelp HTML, there is no screen
tip.
Is there any easy way to get rid of the screen tip from
Webhelp generated from Word (apart from editing out the alt
attribute from IMG items in the generated help files)?

Why does RCS prompt me to check out the .XPJ file when I open RoboHelp HTML?

We just upgraded from X3 to X5 and began using RoboSource
Control. We currently have a dedicated server machine and 1 client
machine (we'll be adding 3 more client machines once I resolve all
issues with this one). I have working folders set up on each
machine so I can open the Help projects with RoboHelp HTML.
The issue here is that I often receive the following prompt
in a dialog box when I open a Help project in RH HTML:
"To add version control information to this project, the
files in the list below need to be checked out from version
control. Do you want to check out these files?" (The only file
listed is the .XPJ file.)
I only seem to receive this message after I have opened that
particular Help project on the other PC. E.g., I open Help project
A on the Server. If I close it, I can re-open the Help project on
that machine multiple times without receiving the message. However,
if I then open Help project A on the client machine, I'll get the
prompt to check out the XPJ file. If I check it out, I can then
re-open the Help project on that machine multiple times without
receiving the message. Of course, if check in the XPJ file from the
client machine, I'll get the prompt on the Server machine to check
it out the next time I go to open it up from there.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was prompted to check out the
XPJ for one of our Help projects this morning. I clicked
No (to NOT check out the XPJ file from the database), then
selected the
File Status tab, right-clicked on the XPJ file, selected
Show Differences... and discovered that the XPJ file in the
database had the following version control related text, whereas
the XPJ file in the working folder on my SERVER machine did not
(the working folder copy on my CLIENT machine matched the file in
the database):
Note: This code appears between a <miscproperties> line
and a <CompileOptions> line (both XPJ files had these two
lines).

How to change the attribute of screen field to drop down list dynamically

Actually this requirement is to enhance the standard screen for Tcode :EHSVU21.
So depending on the 1st Column(Test no) value ,i have to change the 3rd Column(Low.norm.result)
property either to DROP Down or not.
So in the PBO only the changes to be made and there is no field in SCREEN internal table for changing the attribute to DROP down. I checked SCREEN internal table where the field VALUE_HELP and REQUEST is useful but not suitable for my case.
Any solution available?

Obviously Willam's comments about editing the output do not apply to MS HTML Help. It is possible with RH Webhelp (and possibly Flashhelp and Airhelp Web output, but I'm not familiar with those formats), but not particularly nice.
As he states, the easiest way is to continue using RH to edit the source and recompiling as needed.
With the chm files, they could decompile the chm, then edit and recompile in the free Microsoft HTML Help Workshop application, but they would lose RH specific functionality like build and conditional tags (and possibly drop-down hotspots - or at least not be able to add them easily). Additionally, changes they made to these files would not be reflected in the RH source files either. (The HTML Help Workshop project could be imported as a new project into RH if required, but I'm not sure exactly how messy that would be.)

Speech Recognition (Dragon) and RoboHelp HTML

Hello RHelpers,
I primarily author inside of RoboHelp HTML. I was thinking of getting 'Dragon Naturally Speaking 10' to cut down on hand/wrist strain, but wanted to see if anyone else has used it with RH and what your experiences were. Does it work within this environment? I ask because Vista's run-of-the-mill speech recognition doesn't work too well there but does tolerably well inside of Word / Wordpad. Any feedback is appreciated.

Drop-down menu ?placeholder? issue.

I have designed about 12 websites for clients using Muse since “Beta 0.1”. On a number of these I have drop-down menus. My question is:
How can I have “no link” ( i.e. html pages) to the “master” and “sub-master” categories, if I ultimately I want them to only be able to click on the final link in the drop-down sub menu.

In the web site design I of course have a “Collections” page, a “Winter 2011” page and finally a “Earrings” page. However the only reason I have the first two is so that they appear in the site design/auto drop down - design. I would call these placeholders? See screen grab.
The other mystery is, how come on this site (www.mermaidskissgallery.com) which I also designed back in “beta 0.1” days, the “Artists” > Doesn’t have this problem. I.E. clicking this will not take you to the “Artists” .html page ???? See screen grab.
This is how I think drop down menus should work??
Any help to resolve my serious issue with the Nepenthe Studio site would be most welcome.

Custom field not getting populated in the "Show Results where" drop down

Hi all,
In appointment detail page by clicking on Add button on the user related information section , it takes us to a search layout showing the list of available users.
Here we have to filter the user's based on a custom field which has already been created in the user object. But I am not able to add the custom field in the "Show results where" drop down for which the search has to be done.
It is getting reflected in the normal search layouts.So Can any one tell me why the change is not getting reflected in the user related info search layout?

I tested your use case and you are correct. I would recommend that you submit a service request to CRM On Demand customer care in reference to this issue.
