Roles included in Roles and how it effects User Content

I want to have one role which generates a tab called "Budget Development" under this tab depending on the users other assigned roles I want from 1 to 3 addition tabs or selections to appear. Based opn user assigned Roles
When I create 3 additional roles, and assign them to the Parent Role (Budget  Development) all 3 tabs appear evenif the addional roles are not assigned to the user.
Role 1 "Budget Development"
            Role 1.1 "Budget Add"
            Role 1.2  "Budget Change"
            Role 1.3  " Budget Delete"
I have access to all 3 tabs/selection and the functionality when I am assigned the 1 role of "Budget Development"
How do I selectivly Display Sub-Roles based on Portal Roles and permissions etc.

Hi Sarah,
             You can achieve this by the 'Merged Role Concept'.
1)Create 3 roles with the same name say "Budget Development" which will have different ID's though.
-Under the role properties set the "Merge ID" for each role. The mergeID has to be the same for all the 3 roles.
2) Now create 3 worksets say "Budget Add", "Budget Change" and " Budget Delete".
- and assign each of these worksets to 3 different roles that we have first defined.
Now depending upon which user needs what access you can assign the roles. The user will see one role but different worksets underneath based upon what he has been assigned.

When I have created a transport request to move the roles and analysis authorization from development system to test system.     Hi,
    In role administration, you have the following options for transporting roles:
    You can download the roles from one system and upload them into another  
    You can import the role from a remote system using RFC  
    You can transport the roles with the transport function.
    Role upload loads all role data, including authorization data from a file into the SAP system. The user assignments for the role and the generated profiles for the role are exceptions in this case.
    Transporting Roles with the Role Transport Function
           1.      Start the role administration function by choosing Tools ® Administration ® User Maintenance ® Role Administration ® Roles (transaction PFCG).
           2.      Enter the role to be transported and choose Transport Role.
    The Mass Transport of Roles screen appears. You can control the default settings for the options Also transport single roles for composite roles and Also transport generated profiles for roles using Customizing switches (see Role Administration Functions in the section Functions of the Utilities Menu).
    You should not change the authorizations profiles of the role after you have included the role in a transport request. If you need to change the profiles or generate them for the first time, transport the entire role again afterwards.

    Apps cannot be removed much less added to the device.
    Only content from the iTunes store (movies, tv shows, music) can be added/removed on the 1st Gen ATV.
    Again, the 2nd and 3rd Gen ATVS have no onboard storage for content and would generate no such message.
    Just curious, has your ATV been jailbroken?  If it has, no support can be provided via these forums.

  • SSO and how to Managing User Roles/Privileges with Forms using Oracle db

    We are in the process of implementing Oracle Application Server SSO with our custom Forms application using Oracle database -- all 10.2.0.1.0 version.
    In our Forms Applications, we have about a dozen roles we have assigned to various users. We need to identify each user using our Forms because we are using the GLOBAL USER throughout the application.
    Questions:
    -- Do we have to create users/passwords in both OID and application database?
    -- Is there a way to easily manage the user and passwords between SSO and Forms App/database in one place? For example, how does a user change their password once, but actually change it in both the database and SSO?
    Any advice and/or direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, you can have global roles in the DB and assign this roles to specific OID users, and the will heritage the privilages, you can do this using Oracle Identity Management Web Tool http://hostname:7777/oiddas is not complicated.

    I received a nano from Christmas and have been disappointed in its battery life. I don't get anywhere near 14 hours of play time. I'm sure the cache and its refresh rate have an effect upon battery life. What is the best playing "mode" to get optimum battery life? Is the cache a "look ahead" cache that loads up by xnumber of sequential tunes? If so, then how are the tunes stored in the flash? Are they stored in cache based upon their "input" date or is it alphabetized?

    I am using Sharepoint 2013 standard (on-premise) and I am wondering how to backup the conversion content within newsfeed.
    Is there any good article explain how newsfeed I/O? Is there any OOB or 3rd party solution to backup the content?
    Finally, I think newsfeed content is stored in cache. May I know how long the cahce will be kept?
    Thanks for any input. Maybe my search skill is bad. I have tried and fail to find a good source explain newsfeed mechanism.

    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know how the Newsfeed works in SharePoint and how to back up the Newsfeed content.
    As you said, SharePoint 2013 makes use of distributed cache to cache newsfeeds, microblogging, conversations, security trimming, OneNote client access, and even keeps the FedAuth cookie for claims based authentication on the server side.
    All Activities are written to the Distributed Cache. The microblog features and feeds rely on the Distributed Cache to store data for very fast retrieval across all entities. Feeds mainly Rely on the following two Caches from Distributed Cache service: Feed
    Cache and Last Modified Time Cache.
    If the activity is a user activity or site activity, the activity is saved to the My Sites content database; If the activity is a site feed activity, the activity is saved in the team sites content database. Tags and document activities are not saved to
    content databases. So individual My Site Newsfeed backup is not supported OOB, custom solution needs to be performed for getting My Site Newsfeed from feed cache.

  • Need to know BW Roles and how are they used

    Hi,
      While activating Business content, I see some Roles( for example ( Sales Manager SAP_BW_0ROLE_007 etc) and not really sure what exactly they are. I have been able to activate content ( Cubes, queries etc) and expose them over the Enterprise portal(iviews) either through queries or web template.
      I really need to understand how these BW roles works and why and where they are used.

    is the domain Controller with DNS, DCHP..The other is my Terminal Server with 2 apps published..My question is, can I have 8 virtual machines running within the Hyper V.The Domain Controller and the Terminal Server, also 6 machines running windows 7 ultimate,

    If you just wanted to buy licenses from NewEgg, sure, I believe that would work. I don't know if there are any block license purchases you would be eligible for, but that may be worth exploring from a cost-perspective
    Regarding hardware, there's a few factors. CPU is largely down to how many cores you have. You can run 2-3 virtual CPUs per core without  too much hassle at all. RAM - well, ideally as much as you're committing to VMs. You can over-allocate memory,
    just note that you'll run in to issues if all those VMs then request that memory. 1GB is not a huge amount per Windows 7 instance, so you may well find those VMs request and use all 1GB you would be assigning them. Assuming you're giving the two server VMs
    1GB RAM, you'd want 8GB in there at a minimum, but factor in the Hyper-V itself is going to require some resources as well.
    Hard drive wise, it's more the I/O on the drive and only having one spindle. If each VM is trying to write to disk, it's going to really cause some latency as it's waiting to do so. There's only drive that can be written to at a time. The more spindles,
    the more I/O can be distributed across them (to a point - you then have a slight RAID penalty due to writing out the parity bit...). But, ideally - yes, add in at least one or two more disks and configure a RAID set, the choice of RAID set being dependent
    on how many disks you end up with and what your tolerance for failure is. If you only have one or two disks, you don't have anything other than RAID 1 that will allow you to recover from a drive failure, and RAID 1 isn't going to improve your performance.
    If you were able to upgrade to Windows Server 2012, you could use storage spaces to distribute your storage rather than hardware/software RAID at the underlying hardware level, but with only running Server 2008 R2 that unfortunately is not an option.

    Dear,
    You have to do the JRM - Job role mapping. The list of transactions cannot be decided commonly across all implementations, as per your Business process definition you have to list the transactions invovlved and which business roles are required for that.
    One example: PP_Planner is a Role, this is applicable for the planning person, he will be given transactions related to SOP, DM and MRP, he will not be given transactions related to SFC. Its vice versa for a operations person.

    Setting up a demo network.
    1 Novell Netware SBS server
    1 Linux SBS server
    Installed eDirectory to the Linux box, imanager and everything works fine.
    Netware - master replica
    Linux - read/write
    If the Netware server goes down, we cannot see the tree.
    Tried with SLP and without.
    creating users in iManager from either server IP works fine and shows up in
    Console1
    Is there a way that when we add a user to the NDS, that it will create a
    user on the Linux server as well? I mean on the actual linux server, not
    eDirectory?
    I suppose similar to setting DirXML for Active Directory and NDS?

    my techs is a Red Hat guy, so we had some tech knowledge before testing
    this.
    Actually, we noted that through ldap, we can see the eDirectory users on the
    Linux server under the users section, and we can add them to linux groups
    and shares, which through the setup of Samba, can map drives to the linux
    server.

    set that up. Very interesting.

    Just so you don't feel alone out there..
    A little of my background. I am a Linux newbie, ex MCNE from NW4 days and
    run and deploy NW65 im my job. I decided to learn Linux and as I don't use
    it at work. I thought the only real way to get familiar with it was to run
    it at home. I purchased NLSBS9 and have installed it as the home server
    and it runs the households email and Internet access. My users have
    resistance to Linux at the desktop so its XPpro for now.
    My experiences with NLSBS9..(remember I am a Linux newbie, hopefully if I
    tell you something that is incorrect someone will jump in and correct me.)
    It appears that NLSBS9 with it's accompanying Novell Linux desktop
    licences was conceived as a total package. Linux clients to Linux server.
    Windows client support is not so well implemented. For Windows user file
    and printer access you need to run and configure Samba. Samba requires
    linux users to be created and these are stored in an Ldap directory.
    eDirectory is present solely for GroupWise to run, it is not linked to the
    LDAP directory. The two directories are not linked or synced in any way.
    I thought NLSBS consisted of Suse Linux Open server plus Groupwise.
    Apparently not, as Suse has a facilty called LUM (Linux user management)
    which is a tool that you can manage users with and it is linked to
    eDirectory.
    A little birdie tells me an announcement about NLSBS9 and future
    developments could be made during Brainshare....

    It is better not to do a browser check but instead do a check to see if specific HTML5 features that you want to use are supported (if(!xxxx){alert("You need a browser that supports HTML5")})
