Rolling 12 months Actuals/Forecast

I remember coming across an SAP How To PDF showing how to create a query where user inputs a specific period/month and dynamically all periods before the selected period populate with actuals and an perios /months remaining in the year will display forecast.  Again, this is dynamic depending on the period entered by the user and occurs on the same row.
Can someone send me the link if you have it handy or if you know a solution, please share.

Hi<br>
Let us assume you are storing the value of Fiscal Period entered by User in Variable ZPER. Also let us say you use characteristic Value Type to identify if data is Actuals or Forecast with Value Type 10 being Actuals and 20 being Forecast.<br>
Then create a Restricted Key Figure Actuals which is restricted to 3 things: Key Figure, Value Type and Fiscal Period. Restrict the Value Type to 10 and restrict Fiscal Period in that key figures to value less than or equal to Variable ZPER. Secondly create a Restricted Key Figure Forecast which is restricted to 3 things: Key Figure, Value Type and Fiscal Period. Restrict Value Type to 20 and restrict Fiscal Period in that key figures to value greater than Variable ZPER.<br>
Please check if you get desired results.

Hope it helps.<br><br>

  • 12 Months rolling forecast with prev. 4 month actuals - Integrated Planning

    Hi,
What is the best practice for setting up a 12 month rolling planning with -4 months of actuals and +12 months of forecast with IP?
Let's think about a very basic setup, Cost Center planning:
    - We have 2 infoproviders (for act/plan) and they are combined as a multiprovider and that is used on the aggregation level.
    In the planning layout/query:
    - On the lines Cost Elements are shown
    - On the columns periods and keyfigures are shown.
The requirement is that actuals are shown for 4 previous months and planning is open & visible for the current month +11 months. We do not wish to show any actuals beside the figures for planning NOR old planned values beside the actuals for the previous months.
Versioning works as follows: Zero version is always open for planning and snapshots are loaded into different versions at a given point in time. Actuals are also loaded as version 0.
Value types are as usual: actual = 10, Plan = 20 and we use 0FISCPER for periods.
So the result should be that we'll show 16 periods for each line (cost element) with the 4 first columns as static cells displaying only actuals and the 12 latter as input ready cells open for planning.
All tips leading to workable solution are rewarded!
    -Miikka

    Hi
    Miikka Åkerman
how are you set 4 first columns as static cells displaying only actuals and the 12 latter as input ready cells open for planning.?
and how about you designer cube that is include what characterices and key figure
    you said
    In the planning layout/query:
    - On the lines Cost Elements are shown
    - On the columns periods and keyfigures are shown.
this periods is set as a keyfigures?
Now I am face the same problem
how to  set 4 first columns as static cells displaying only  and how to set the 12 latter as input ready cells open for planning.?
if periods is move to next periods
how to rolling this plan ??
    hope you can help me
    thanks a million

  • Input query with dynamic actual & forecast values by month per year

    Hello,
I am working on a Input ready query for a forecasting application which shows both actuals and forecast numbers and the user will revise the forecast numbers by month
Requirement: I want to build a Input query for monthly forecasting for the current year. It will be dynamic rolling of months with actuals & forecast data.
E.g. My report has 12 months for the current year
and if run the report in May, the months before May has to show the actuals and the months after May has to show the old forecast data so that the user will revise the numbers again in each month and save the data to the real time cube.
    Jan.Feb.Mar.Apr.May.Jun.Jul.Aug.Sept.Nov.Dec
Act Act  Act Act Act  Old frcst for the remaining months
user will revise forecast for these months
So, i am able to create Input query with all restricted key figures( plan kf has change mode set to change, actual kf are not set change) and calculate key figures and all the logic is done on dynamically moving/rolling the data based on the input month of the year.
But the problem is that i am using cal kf to dynamically roll months, i was not able to set the change option for the cal kf.
So, how can i make sure that the dynamically changed plan months will open for entering forecast and the actuals months not to change?
Do you guys have any better solutions in implementing it?
I really appreciate it your input....:)
    Thanks,
    Srini

    Hi,
Please look at the following DOC which may be useful to you and if so please grant me point.

    Input-Ready Query
    Use
You use input-ready queries to create applications for manual planning. These can range from simple data entry scenarios to complex planning applications.
    Integration
You define a query that you want to use for manual planning in the BEx Query Designer (see Defining New Queries).
In the Web Application Designer or the BEx Analyzer, you can combine the input-ready queries with other queries and planning functions to create complex planning applications.
    Prerequisites
You can define an input-ready query on any of the following InfoProviders:
&#9679;     Aggregation levels (see Aggregation Levels)
&#9679;     MultiProviders that include at least one simple aggregation level
The aggregation levels are created in the planning modeler; MultiProviders are defined in the modeling functional area of the Data Warehousing Workbench.
    Features
    Definition of an Input-Ready Query
Once you have defined a query on an InfoProvider, you see the Planning tab page under the Properties of structural components (for example, in key figures or restricted key figures). The options provided there allow you to determine which structural components of an input-ready query are to be input ready at runtime and which are not. With structural components that are not input ready, you can also determine whether these components are viewed as reference data or are just protected against manual entry.
For the structural components, you also have the following options:
Input readiness of structural components of a query
    Option
    Description
    Not input ready (reference data)
If they are being used as reference data, the structural components are not protected by data locks to ensure exclusive access for one user because this data serves as a reference for many users.
    This is the default setting.
Not input ready (no reference data)
If you want to protect structural components against manual entries but allow changes by planning functions, you can use locks to protect this data for one particular user. In this way you can ensure that the planning function works with the displayed data only and not with data that has been changed by other users.
    Input ready
You can also determine whether an input ready query is to be started in change mode or in display mode. You find this property in the Query Properties on the Planning tab page. If there is at least one input-ready query component, the query (as long as it has not been determined otherwise) is started in display mode.
In BI applications that use input ready queries as data providers, you can enter data manually at runtime. For more information, see Performing Manual Planning and Creation of Planning Applications.
    Example
You want to create an input-ready query for manual planning for a plan-actual comparison of revenues for a set of products. You want the plan data in a real-time-enabled InfoCube and the actual data in a standard InfoCube.
           1.      Create a MultiProvider that includes the InfoCubes for the plan and actual data.
           2.      Define an aggregation level on the MultiProvider which contains the characteristic Product and the key figure Revenue.
           3.      On the aggregation level, create two restricted key figures Plan Revenue and Actual Revenue. For restriction, choose the characteristic 0INFOPROV and restrict it to the plan or actual InfoCube.
           4.      Add the restricted key figures to the key figure structure. Insert Product into the rows. For Plan Revenue, choose Input Ready for the input-readiness option. For Actual Revenue, choose the option Not Input Ready (Reference Data).
           5.      In the query properties, set the indicator that determines whether the queries are started in display or change mode as required.
    Example of an input-ready query
    Product
    Plan Revenue
    Actual Revenue
    P01
    20
    P02
    30
If you want to keep actual and plan data in a real-time enabled InfoCube, you do not require a MultiProvider for the task described above. Create an aggregation level on the InfoCube and define the input-ready query for the aggregation level. In the example above, a version characteristic acts as the InfoProvider. Create restricted key figures with the plan or actual version and proceed as in the previous example.

actually in my case i have actual as well as forecasted within under dimension scenario. i cant create seprate reports for actual and forecasted.they come by default under one report...
but the main problem is if i sort data as per your advice .i.e. month<=@{pres_var}) then it is not sorting data in a correct way......
for ex. if i choose month as "May" in th prompt it shud show all the data for jan, feb, mar, apr uptil " maÿ"......
can sum1 plz help on above thing.......
using month<=@{prev_var} is not helping as the months will be sorted in alphabatically order
for ex if i give month dec in prompt and filter on monts as month<{pres_var} then ith will display results for months which are alpahabatically smaller than "d" in dec.....ie Apr, and Aug

  • Trailing Twelve Month Actuals

We've requirement to calculate trailing twelve month to move data from one region to another. We've Year and Month is two separate dimension where both are level 0. Here is my calc script:
    FIX ( "US$", "TestCostCenter", "b000", "s000", "Final","TestRegion","TestAcct")
    "Actuals" = @MOVSUM("TestRegion2"->"Actuals", 12, @XRANGE("FY11"->"JAN","FY12"->"DEC"));
    ENDFIX;
It works as long as its in the same year but once its cross year the numbers are not right. Not sure from where it making the number up. Here is the example data.
Jan     Feb     Mar     Apr     May     Jun     Jul     Aug     Sep     Oct     Nov     Dec
    TestRegion2     FY11     TestAcct     1053.05     1341.5     206.9     -310.54     1217     662.52     -418.91     -2877.97     4757.49     -479.46     786.09     -13425.39
    FY12     TestAcct     434.64     1099.28     4116.87     -4343.42     655.89     799.16     -1343.42     376.09     799.15     -148.05     #MI     #MI
    TestRegion     FY11     TestAcct     1053.05     1341.5     206.9     -310.54     1217     662.52     -418.91     -2877.97     4757.49     -479.46     786.09     -7487.72
    FY12     TestAcct     -8535.36     -7642.98     -3215.57     -8775.99     -8782.62     -7564.55     -6030     -10411.4     -9132.79     -10066.93     3358.46     2446.19
To view correctly in excel just copy the data and Paste Special. And then move 1st line 3 columns to right and line 3 & 5 one column.

you dont need to create any variables here.
I am not completely aware of your dimension structure here.
So for example if i had some three members in scenario dimension like Actuals, Forecast, Budget.
and if I want to perform this calculation only for Actuals Data, then i will be creating one more member under scenario dimension ROLLING_12MONTHS_ACTUALS.
    Now
    ROLLING_12MONTHS_ACTUALS = @xrange(Actuals,12,@xrange(Y2009->JAN,Y2010->DEC))
this will calculate last 12 months sum for all account lines for all the months in Y2010.
you can vary the range in @xrange if you need to calculate for more months.
Now users can retrieve the required data by specifiying the new scenario member in their reports across all the members of remaining dimensions.

  • Rolling month at repot level

Is it possible to adding rolling 12 month at the report level? Does a formula need to be added or is there is an example I can see. I saw an example where the rolling months can be entered by the user but in this case th the # of monts need to be 12.
    Thank you

    suser,
In the report add the below filter condition
u can replace 6 with 12 incase of 12 months
if u want to use max date available in database instead of current_Date ,create a rep variable which ll give u max(report_Date) use that in formula
    timestampdiff(slq...... , -12, valueof(rep_Var) and valueof(rep_var)

one way to do this is to use point of view with the range function, using conditional suppression:
    so that you have:
    - prior year with month (from POV to Dec) hiding POV
    - current year with month (from Jan to POV)
(assuming you run a Jan to Dec year in your month outline/financial calendar)

  • Rolling month for webi report using Univ based on BEX Query

    Dear Experts,
    I'm new to OLAP universes.
We have a requirements of having last 12 months rolling  for given measure(Key figure) in webi report using Univ based on Bex Query.
We require a calmonth (time dimension) object  (restricted for last 12 months) where user can drag and drop on column section of cross-tab table.  User should drag more than one Key figure ( for ex. sales rev and & qty sold) for each month
Could you please provide me the solution to do this?
    Thanks
    Akshara

    Hi Henry,
    Thank  you for your response.
BEx query has not been created yet. we need to create accordingly and require your help in creating the same.
Regarding reporting requirements,  User wants to have adhoc reporting  with rolling months ( 12 months or 6 months) functionality. Users want to link any KF to this rolling months dimension.
If we can't have this, what is the alternative that we can propose to user.
    Thanks
    Akshara.

If there are any user exits where i can make these changes or if there are any configurations that i  can change then suggest.
    Thanx in Advance.

You have to enable the PERIODIC BILLING as the billing plan for your case.
You can refer to the OSS note 831158 which gives lot of other OSS notes for you to configure the scenario.

  • Dynamically rolling months forward in Analyzer with HFM data source

I'm building a dashboard in Analyzer 7.0. I want the reports to dynamically update each month so a user does not have to go in and change the month on each report. Normally I would use a sub variable (i.e. cur_month) however, the datasource is not Essbase, it's HFM.Anyone else using HFM as a data source and found a feesible way to roll months forward in Analyzer after the close? I looked at Personal variables, but that still leaves me with the same problem of someone having to go in and update each users personal variables.Suggestions are appreciated as well. Thanks,Gary CrisciSenior ConsultantPinnacle Group, [email protected]

I came up with a working solution. Analyzer allows you to retreive member lists from HFM. I created a member list called 'Current Month' and assigned a single member to it. I then pull the report using the member list and get the current month view. Now the admin only has to update the meber list once a month when the close is finished and all reports will "Dynamically" roll forward.Regards,

  • Team calendar - rolling month

    Hi all
Just wondering if anyone has found a way to have the team calendar show a rolling month i.e. rather than a static month (1 - 31), show 15 days prior to todays date and 15 days after todays date.
Our managers get annoyed towards the end of the month as they have to continuously change between the current and next month in order to see if people are at work (we run a fortnightly payroll, not monthly).
    Any feedback would be appreciated.
    PS

    Nachy,
All of these have start dates in 2009, whereas, we can't see data for previous months in 2010. I believe the relationship I mentioned in the initial post is responsible, even though there are enteries before it that are ignored.
We just discovered this and we are live. (i.e. this is production environment) Your prompt replies will be highly appreciated.

    Motaz

  • Show actual values before current month and forecast values after

This is a tricky one (but I guess it will be easy for you clever guys out there), so my apologies for the heading.
    Thanks for reading.
I need to build a report in BEx (BW3.5) that does the following:
I will get actual values and forecast values for a year, grouped per period.
But in the report, I don't want to display the actual and forecast values of every period.
I want to display the actual values for the past, and the forecast values for the future.
So, if we are now in period 6 (which is June) all the actual values must be displayed for Jan, Feb, Apr and May.
But from June onwards to December, only the forecast must be displayed for each month.
    Is this possible?
Thanks in advance, points will be assigned
    Rudolph
Edit: This might help. The actual value is based on KF 0AMOUNT, where value type = 10. The forecast is based on the same KF, value type = 20, version = F2

    Hi Rudolph,
No need to write any code for this one.
Have done couple of forecast reports using following logic.
Hope historical data getting from R/3 & Forecast values from APO.
    these are seperate 2 keyfigures.
1.created restricted key figure (keyfigure1) for historical values & drag drop time characterstic with off set till date (means offset -6 to 0)
2.created restricted key figure (keyfigure2) for forecast values & drag drop time characterstic with off set till date (means offset +1 to +6).
create calculated keyfigure Add up above(keyfigure1+keyfigure2) two restricted keyfigure.
    Thnx,
    Vijay Reddy.

  • Rolling months - Time series function

    Hi,
I am new to OBIEE and this forum, and wondering someone could guide me through this requirement.
I have a requirement that User needs to see inventory for rolling past 13 months, and should display inventory numbers(snapshot) for the first day of the month.
    Date     Inventory $
    1-Jan-12     46652
    1-Feb-12     25145
    1-Mar-12     78542
    1-Apr-12     45215
    1-May-12     24156
    1-Jun-12     98541
    1-Jul-12     21478
    1-Aug-12     25144
    1-Sep-12     26545
    1-Oct-12     48855
    1-Nov-12     45698
    1-Dec-12     12546
    1-Jan-13     26586
How can I get past rolling 13 months in OBIEE? I have a variable created for "Rolling 13 months" and "First Day of month", but I guess they are not working when combined. Please advise.
    Thanks,
    P

If I understand correctly, I'd put a filter on the Date column using the Timestampadd function available in OBIEE. Something like:
    "Table"."Date">= Timestampadd(SQL_TSI_MONTH, -13, MONTH("Table"."Date")
Let me know if this is not what you were looking for.
    Please award points if helpful/correct.

  • Rolling Months

I created 12 rolling session variables to use to get 12 month rolling sums for my report. After creating the variables i made this filter to get sums for my GL balances (12 months ending).
FILTER ("Facts - GL Balance"."Balance Amount") USING ("Time"."Fiscal Period End Date" BETWEEN VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.PERIOD_START_11AGO) and VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.PERIOD_END_00))
this filter works only for 12 periods from the current date (NQ_SESSION.PERIOD_END_00) - how can I expand my range to include all the fiscal periods from 2002 to 2011, right now the report only gives me 12 periods from 10/31/2011 to 11/30/2010... for some reason my filter is limiting me, how can i circumvent this.... any help wld be apprceiated!!!!

Thank you Deepak, you guided me correctly it is working for my 12/31 end of month dates bcoz it is rolling summed months from january. All other dates when selected from droplist are a sum from jan and not 12 months ago, i did all teh steps how can i now make the data correct- thanks
