Rolling averages/sums for counts

I am a new user (business objects 12 relaease 2)
I would like to build a report in web intelligence displaying the average count of the number of records per day, where the average is calculated for a rolling window of days.
For example a rolling daily average count of records using a 3 day window would be caluculated by:
Summing the counts of records for the last three days and dividing by 3
I would like to include this rolling average in a table for a specified of time period, say the last 30 days. My table would have two rows the top row would be the date and would hgave 30 entries, inbe for each of  the previous 30 days, The scond row would have the 3 day rolling average for each of the 30 days. This table format will also allow me to graph the table
An additional problem arises becasue there are some dates that have no data. I need to include those dates, but Web Intelligence won't display them. Is there a way of displaying dates with no values in the table?

John Berezowski,
In response to your question: "An additional problem arises becasue there are some dates that have no data. I need to include those dates, but Web Intelligence won't display them. Is there a way of displaying dates with no values in the table?"
The solution is to build a "backend table" in your data base that has all of the applicable dates accounted for.  Then modify your universe by linking this new table to your pre-existing table and process as a left outer join (providing that this new table is on the "left" side, otherwise a full outer join will suffice due to the manner that you've built your table).
A technique you can apply to the other columns used in your original table would be the use of the "coalesce" function to avoid nulls and transform unjoined values to spaces (or zero or some other value for integers).
thanks,
John

  • Average sum for a column in ALV tree layout

    Hi,
I've trying to set an average sum for a column in an ALV tree report.  In the field catalog i set the DO_SUM field to 'X' and this will do a total sum, but I can't find out how in the code to do the average sum.
Also to get round this I was going to just set a default display variant with the "average" sum option saved after i had manually selected the columns and set it to this.  Problem with this is that when i re-run it, the sum comes back as a total rather than an average.  I have tried setting display variants on the SAP example ALV tree programs and the same thing happens.
Does anyone know how i can get round this?
    Cheers
    Matt.

    Hi,
In addition to setting DO_SUM = 'X' you need to specify function in H_FTYPE field. It should be set to 'AVG' in your case.
    ls_fielcat-do_sum = 'X'.
    ls_fieldcat-h_ftype = 'AVG.

  • Average Calculation for Available Data only

    Hello Gurus,
I have a requirement where I have to calculate Daily average based on Hours (24 hours). We get one reading for every hour. SO 24 readings and divide them by 24. It works fine when I do a calculation like ([Measure]/24) as Hours would always be constant.
The problem comes when we miss some readings for few hours. In that scenario User do not want to take those hours into consideration for which reading is missing.
    How can I achieve that?
    Any suggestions?
    Regards
    Shalini

    Hi,
    Try this formula.
    =sum([Measure])/count([Measure]) where ([Measure]>0)
    or
    =sum([Measure])/count(sum([Measure]) where ([Measure]>0))

  • OBIEE 12 months rolling average

    Hi,
I have a report requirement where i want to see 12 months rolling average for measure.
    Report filter:  Year, Period
Ex: If i select Month and Year Sept 2013 is given as filter, it should pull data from Oct 2012 to Sept 2013 and divide it by 12.
Please let us know the thoughts
    Thanks in advacne.

    hi,
A general procedure hierarchy you can use.
Create a hierarchy for time dimension, use time series function
    ago("measure",level(12 months))
then make one logical column use this existed calculated column as sum and again make one more logical new column use the sum value column and divide it by 12.
Just gain the solution in RPD itself.
for more information visit here OBIEE -Time Series in OBIEE

  • Rolling Averages and Trans per Minute

Is it possible to perform a rolling average calc and transaction per seconds on the BAM dashboard? I am currently building a PoC for my team and these are 2 of the requirements that I have not been able to implement using the docs. I would like to display a gauge that tells me appx how many transactions per second I am processing and a graph that displays the rolling average of my transactions over time.
    Thanks,
    Bill

hello Bill - this may be an alternate 2nd use bar or line view- select your parameter to display a 'count' and add a filter to show it for the last 1 minute, [check activex], and after that select your grouping by the timefield, select group 1 sec, value format-as second. This should give you something close to your view.

  • How to calculate Average balance for an account

    Hi,
How to calculate average balance for an account for a particular period say for JAN-12 period and after the end of that period for another two days 01-feb-12 and 01-feb-12 ?
I'm using the following query :
    SELECT cc.segment1||'-'||cc.segment2||'-'||cc.segment3||'-'||cc.segment4||'-'||cc.segment5||'-'||cc.segment6 "Account_XX",
    nvl(sum(l.accounted_dr - l.accounted_cr),0) "Balance"
    FROM gl_code_combinations cc,
    gl_je_lines l
    WHERE cc.code_combination_id = l.code_combination_id
    AND l.set_of_books_id ='XX'
and code_combination_id = replace it with code combination_id for account_xx
    AND l.effective_date <= '31-Jan-12' (january period end ??)
    GROUP BY cc.segment1||'-'||cc.segment2||'-'||cc.segment3||'-'||cc.segment4||'-'||cc.segment5||'-'||cc.segment6
There are some discrepancies in "average balance" after end of month (Jan-12)?
How to calculate average balances for a particular account (Account_XX above)from end of month of Jan to first two days of february?
    Thanks,

    Kiran,
Please let me know first, is Average Balancing feature enabled in your GL Ledger?

  • PLEASE HELP: PDF Forms, creating average formula for text?

    Hello,
I really hope somone can help. I cannot find any answers to my questions on the internet, google etc.
First time using Acrobat. Im pretty quick learning on compters however the formulas my boss has asked me to do I have no idea if they are possible.
We have a report form for exams and each section I need to calculate the average mark for that section.
There are 3 questions for the first section. There are dropdowns for distinction, Merit, Pass and Below pass to select for each questions.
Please see picture attached to show you what I mean.
I want to be able to calculate the most selected/average dropdowns selected and not count the N/A's into award1 field?
The fields must be text and cannot be numbers.
so for example, track 1 got a distinction, track 2 got a Merit, Track 3 got a distiction. all other fields left n/a
is there anyway to do this also is there any way to exactly the same as above as check boxes? - please see picture attached
I appriciate any help. I am working on a mac
    Thanks
    Lauren

    Thank you so much reply
Yes on the dropdowns the distincion, merit, pass or below pass values are in the correct areas ready for selection. For example on the distiction row you can only drop down for distinction and so on for Merit row dropdowns etc
Check box is the way I rather do it as its quicker, however I created the dropdown option just incase check boxes average was not possible
On the check boxes if i select merit for rtack 1 I would just tick the box and leave the the rest of the colum blank with no ticks. So just by seeing the tick I know its in the merit section for Track 1. However I donts know if I can do an average formula for with check boxes.
If I check boxed/slected distinction for track 1, distnction for track 2 and merit for track 3 (obvisley any box could be ticked depeneding how the exam went so need then all in the script). I would like it to then calculate the avergae mark which would be distinction in the award1 field. While the none ticked boxes or N/A fields not affecting the average.
This is just the start to a huge form Im doing Im dreading the rest of formulas I have to do lol
    sorry if im confusing you

  • Totals for Count Distinct

I need to display totals for Count Distinct measures. I want to display these above a table view.
We have done this before by creating hidden columns with level-based measures for totals and then displaying the first row of these hidden columns in a narrative view above the table. We have also used MAX(RSUM()) within requests, sometimes.
These solutions won't work, because I need Count Distinct() measures (so simple sums and counts will give inaccurate results) and I may navigate to the request with filters at different levels (so LBMs won't work, either).
The only solution I can think of is to have LBMs for each level and have duplicate dashboards that differ only in which variation of this request with which level's LBMs are displayed for the totals. That seems like too much of a kluge. There should be a simpler, better way to do this.

I was trying to reproduce your issue with "Sample Sales" - but can't figure out which columns you'd like to see. Can you please post couple columns - and which count distinct you need? That would make it easier to reproduce the issue.
I was thinking that it might be difficult to pull it in 1 report (since you can't completely exclude columns in table view). I have two suggestions:
    a) did you try to create a separate report and combine it with existing one (same Dashboard page)?
    b) did you try Pivot Table and its calculated column feature? I've had some success with it when I needed to combine measures at different levels on the same report (i needed to see daily totals for 3 specific days, monthly values for specific months, and couple annual totals). This way you could have it on the same report.
I just tried A. And it worked (again, not sure if this is applicable to your situation). I used "Server Complex Aggregate" in column options. The formula is showing: SELECT "D5 Employee"."E01 Employee Name" saw_0, COUNT(DISTINCT "D1 Customer"."C1 Cust Name") saw_1 FROM "Sample Sales" ORDER BY saw_0

I am trying to calculate Rolling Average for 12 months. I followed below link and it works perfect.

    Hi Ajoy,
You mentioned all values of meaure/4 means you are dividing the measure value/total no of reading days?
    what is that measure?
and you are calculationg previous(monthly av),what are you expecting from this calculation?
    suppose see the below example.
    Example
RunningSum([Revenue]) returns these results in the following table:
RunningSum([Revenue];([Country])) returns these results in the following table:
In your case try to use SERVERNAME,Month/year,week(You have readings per week right?)
    try using runningsum(measure) or runningsum(previous(measure))

  • Calculating Average Pace for a running log

I've been using Appleworks spreadsheets for my running logs for years, and am attempting to switch over to Numbers, but have run into a wall. On Appleworks, when I wanted to calculate average pace for a run , I would very simply do the following:
    MILES A1= 7
    DuratioN B1= 1:10:00
    Average pace C1= =SUM(B1/A1)
B1 and C1 would be formatted with the choice 13:59:01 under Number formatting.
    Very simple.
With IWORKNumbers, I'm getting the following error message in C1:
"the operator "/" expects a number, but cell C1 contains a date"
I have C1 set to 14:10:30 on Inspector, with Date set to NONE.
It's hard to fathom that an Appleworks spreadsheet could be superior to a Numbers one in any way, but I guess with this simple function, it is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    -MB

Thanks for your reply, Jerry. I bought '08 back in '08, and now that I've moved up to a MB Pro, I'm finally getting around to exploring it for running logs. Unfortunaley, '08 is a bit lacking in its design--feel a bit bamboozled. If I want duration it's going to cost me for an update.
Until I do that, I'm going to try a work around as suggested. I found this formula in one of your posts:
    =3600C2/(SECOND(D2)+MINUTE(D2)60 + HOUR(D2)*3600)
It gives a result in MPH. I just need to figure out how to convert the MPH into a 14:10:30 format.
Thanks again for your time and energy.

  • Rolling Average

    Hi,
I have to calculate a five week rolling average that uses wo different formulas for weeks in the past and weeks in the future with respect to the current week
. Is there a standard function for the same in SAP?
If not how do we go about doing it?
    Thanks

    Hi Ravi,
You can use this FM module to get current week.
    Data : datum like prowf-ertag,
    DATA: week LIKE scal-week.
    CALL FUNCTION 'DATE_GET_WEEK'
    EXPORTING
    date = datum
    IMPORTING
    week = week
    EXCEPTIONS
    date_invalid = 1
    OTHERS = 2.
    write : week.
use this FM to get the previous week ..by subracting datum by 7 as there are only 7 days in week..same to fuuture weeks also...
