Round in obiee
Hi,
how to round the 0.80 ,1.11 ,1.70 values in obiee
thanks
Hi,
Try following round(columnname,0) it will round 0.8 = 1, 1.70 = 1 or go to(in answers) column properties -> Data Format -> Override Default Data Format -> set Decimal Places to 0

Take off Rounding in OBIEE Reports
I have a report with 10 columns say, when all values are zero then I need to remove that crresponding row from report.
I wrote a filter condition where (col1 != 0 or col2 != 0 or col3 != 0 or.....col10 != 0)
I have a value of 0.1 in one of the columns. It is shown as zero in the report...Since it has 0.1 that row is not eliminated from report which is good. BUT my report shows that value as 0 instead of 0.1
How do I take off rounding without going into each column properties and overriding defaults?yes.Infact the next second i posted this question, that striked me and did that. But then I realized I had to do that in every column and hence edited the question. can you let me know if there is an easy way of doing it?
When it is showing 0 instead of 0.1, why is it not getting eliminated after adding condition..?? aren't they supposed to be inline?
I am asking this because, I have close to 40 reports and looking for the easiest way of doing this without having every column property changed.
and, how do I save the setting?
Thanks,

OBIEE 11g Multiple instance hitting Presentation catalog in round robin fashion
Hi All,
Our requirement was to have two instances of OBIEE 11g in a single box ie one for Dev and one for TEST
For OBIEE 10g, i see lot of information, but for OBIEE 11g i dont see any information on this..
Has anyone tried implementing multiple instances in OBIEE 11g through vertical clustering.?
so far i did vertical clustering of Presentation servers
ie
1 BI Server
2 Presentation Servers
2 Presentation Services Plug-in ( analytics.ear, analytics2.ear)
The issue that i am facing is that the below analytics link sometimes hits one catalog and sometimes other catalog... ( its random hitting) [looks like Load balancer is acting here]
http://constance.localhost.com:9704/analytics
Also i read on Rittman Blog that ..
"Presentation Services plug-in and Presentation Services have been decoupled. So, essentially a single web server can communicate to multiple presentation services in a round-robin fashion without the need for load balancer in vertical clustering. In horizontal clustering with multiple machines, load balancer will be required though in order to switch between different HTTP servers based on the incoming load. "
Any ideas how to switch off the load balancer?
Thanks

Help with displaying BLOBs in OBIEE 11g
I am trying to get OBIEE 11g to display photographs in an Analysis report. I know BLOB fields are not supported, and I have been reading posts on this board and following examples on internet sites that try to get round this problem. But, try as I might, I cannot get those pesky photos to display.
Below are all the steps I have followed. Sorry that there is a lot to read, but I was hoping that somebody has been successful in doing this, and may spot something in one of my steps that I am doing wrong.
ORACLE TRANSACTIONAL SOURCE_
Table : EMPL_PHOTO
Fields:
USN VARCHAR2(11) ( Unique Key )
EMPLOYEE_PHOTO BLOB ( I think the photos are stored as 'png' )
ORACLE WAREHOUSE SOURCE_
Table : D_PERSON_PHOTO_LKUP
Fields :
PERSON_KEY NUMBER(38,0) ( Primary Key - Surrogate )
USN VARCHAR2(11)
PHOTO CLOB
BLOB to CLOB conversion.
I used this function :
create or replace function blob_to_clob_base64(p_data in blob)
return clob
is
l_bufsize integer := 16386;
l_buffer raw(16386);
l_offset integer default 1;
l_result clob;
begin
dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_result, false, dbms_lob.call);
loop
begin
dbms_lob.read(p_data, l_bufsize, l_offset, l_buffer);
exception
when no_data_found then
exit;
end;
l_offset := l_offset + l_bufsize;
dbms_lob.append(l_result, to_clob(utl_raw.cast_to_varchar2(utl_encode.base64_encode(l_buffer))));
end loop;
return l_result;
end;
select usn, employee_photo ,
BLOB_TO_CLOB_BASE64(employee_photo)
from empl_photo
IN OBIEE ADMINISTRATION TOOL_
*1) Physical Layer*
Added D_PERSON_PHOTO_LKUP from Connection Pool
Left it as 'Cachable'
Didn't join it to any tables
Changed field PHOTO to a 'LONGVARCHAR' length 100000
Set USN as the Key ( not the surrogate key )
*2) BMM Layer*
Dragged D_PERSON_PHOTO_LKUP across.
Renamed it to 'LkUp - Photo'
Ticked the 'lookup table' box
Removed the surrogate key
Kept USN as the Primary key
The icon shows it similar to a Fact table, with a yellow key and green arrow.
On Dimension table D_PERSON_DETAILS (Dim - P01 - Person Details) added a new logical column
Called it 'Photo'
Changed the column source to be derived from an expression.
Set the expression to be :
Lookup(DENSE
"People"."LkUp - Photo"."PHOTO",
"People"."Dim - P01 - Person Details"."USN" )
Icon now shows an 'fx' against it.
Note: This table also had it Surrogate key removed, and USN setting as primary key.
*3) Presentation Layer*
Dragged the new Photo field across.
Saved Repository file, uploaded, and restarted server.
ONLINE OBIEE_
Created a new Analysis.
Selected USN from 'Person Details'
Selected Photo from 'Person Details'
Selected a measure from the Fact table
Under column properties of Photo ( data format ) :
- Ticked 'Override Default Data Format' box
- Set to Image URL
- Custom text format changed to : @[html]"<img alt="" src=""@H"">"
Under column properties of Photo ( edit formula ) :
- Changed to : 'data:image/png;base64,'||"Person Details"."Photo"
The Advanced tab shows the sql as :
SELECT
0 s_0,
"People"."Person Details"."USN" s_1,
'data:image/png;base64,'||"People"."Person Details"."Photo" s_2,
"People"."MEASURE"."Count" s_3
FROM "People"
ORDER BY 1, 2 ASC NULLS LAST, 3 ASC NULLS LAST
FETCH FIRST 65001 ROWS ONLY
Going into the 'results' tab, get error message:
+State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. It doesn't seem to be using the Lookup table, but can't work out at which step I have gone wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.
ThanksThanks, yes I followed http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/bi.1111/e10540/busmodlayer.htm#BGBDBDHI, but when I get to the part of setting the LOOKUP function on th Physical source, only ONE physical source is displayed. I need TWO sources ( The Employee Table, and the Photo LookUp.
I have raised this as an error with Oracle. We are now on OBIEE 11.1.1.7, but Oracle say BLOBS are still not supported in that release. It will be fixed in 11.1.1.8 and it will be backported into 11.1.1.6.11
In the meantime we have abandoned showing Photo's in any of our reports. -
Hi,
I have a requirement to concat 2 columns ( 1st column is a text column and 2nd column is a numeric column set as double in RPD). For the 2nd column, user wants to see 3 decimal digits all the time.
For example, if the value is 2.4567 then I need to show round off value 2.457 and if the value if 3.4 , then I need to show 3.400 and if the value is 4 then I need add decimal point and show 4.000.
Please let me know how I can achieve using OBIEE application without having to go through RPD.
Thanks
Swarna
Edited by: 934460 on May 15, 2012 12:48 PMTry the following:
In this example:
Column 1: Month Name
Column 2: Revenue
Column 3: Month - Revenue
Formula for Month - Revenue column will be:
Month Name ||' - '|| cast(round(Revenue, 3) as char)Hope it helps.

OBIEE 11G : Remove label (is like pattern match) in the prompt
Hi Experts,
I have Gone through this thread Re: OBIEE 11G : Remove label (is like pattern match) in the prompt and applied JS as mentioed but
It works for the first display of the page but its back as soon as you hit the apply button
can be it be removed permanently? Thanks in AdvanceHi Nagen,
You can try the following:
Create a variable prompt with the column vales that you want to match
Create a filter in the analysis criteria tab on the column, set to pick up the variable, and define the IS LIKE here.
It is effectively doing the same task as the standard prompt approach does, but in a round-a-bout way which doesn't include adding any of Oracle's text in. -
TimeStampDiff function ROUNDing the result. How can we avoid this?
Hi,
I am using the following timestamp function:
TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_HOUR, "SF_CS_CS_Fact"."Crtddt_Dt", "SF_Emlmssg_Sum_CS"."Initl Resp Tm")
I notice that the result set is rounded off to the whole no.
This is happening because OBIEE autimatically ROUNDS the difference of the timestamps whe using TIMESTAMPDIFF:

I want to get the results in the actual decimal point and not the whole no. Is there a way that I can enable the TIMESTAMPDIFF not to ROUND by default.
Any answers will be helpful.
Thanks,When you specify in the interval in the first argument of TIMESTAMPDIFF you are implicitly telling OBIEE the level of precision that you want. For SQL_TSI_YEAR you are going to get integer values of whole years. if yo uneed to get more granular than that you need to use SQL_TSI_MONTH or WEEK.
Also note, than when performing mathematical operations like divide an multiply, all elements of the calculation need to be a data type that can represent decimal values, or the result of the entire calc will always get converted to an integer. -
I get a problem on Report doing in migration ,Round Changes to Trunc in sql
Hi
Actually problem is in migration process, from siebel 7.8 get migrated to OBIEE 10.1.3.4.0

I've a dashboard prompt containing a column *'Fiscal Year'*. While opening 'Fiscal Year' in prompt, it shows data like *2012.00,2013.00*...etc though in database data are liike *2012,2013*....etc. How can I rectify this decimal position??
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
By the way, I'm using OBIEE 11.1.1.5Hi,
Go to your RPD Physical layer > change the Year column data type double into int then test it out. it should work
also u can try to use round function on the Dashboard prompt year column (edit prompt year column formula section add it)
example: Year data is 2010 then if u use round fxn
ROUND("MT BUSINESS DATE"."Year",0) this will give u 2010
ROUND("MT BUSINESS DATE"."Year",2) this will give u 2010.00
Thanks

Could not able to join physical tables in obiee using a dataconversion func
Hi,
i am trying to join physical tables wc_perf_ratings_d and w_wrkfc_evt_month_f with condition as
"Oracle Data Warehouse"."Catalog"."dbo"."Dim_WC_PERF_RATINGS_D"."RATING_CD" = to_char(round( "Oracle Data Warehouse"."Catalog"."dbo"."Fact_W_WRKFC_EVT_MONTH_F"."ORIG_PERF_RATING",2)). But i am getting the below syntax error while applying this.
[nQSError:27002] Near <(>: Syntax error [nQSError:26012]
i used the same condition on database and i got results.
select rating_cd,
to_char(round(orig_perf_rating,2)) as orig_perf_rating,
headcount,
fte,
salary_annl,
total_service_days
from wc_perf_ratings_d, w_wrkfc_evt_month_f
where wc_perf_ratings_d. rating_cd= to_char(round(w_wrkfc_evt_month_f.orig_perf_rating,2));
Here i am trying to convert the format of ORIG_PERF_RATING field and trying to join with RATING_CD in physical layer.
so my question is, is it possible to join in obiee using such conditions? i do not want to convert the field format in ETL and i wanted to do that at obiee level. Could anybody please suggest how to do it?Hi,
Thanks for the link. i was trying another method in joining the two fields (rating_cd, orig_perf_rating) at database level. As i said both these fields are of varchar datatype. Earlier i tried to convert orig_perf_rating field from number to string. But i want to convert string data in (rating_cd) to number. so i have values in it like (1,2,3,4,bep, ep, vp, nr). Actually i have a requirement to create a database view for the dimension table (wc_perf_ratings_d) having rating_cd field with new datatype (number) instead of string and then join this field with orig_perf_rating in fact table which already has numbers. Along with the number rating fields, there are four particular string fields in rating_cd (bep, ep, vp, nr) as i mentioned. so while converting, i also have to convert these specific string fields in to partcular numbers. (bep=1, ep=5, nr=0, vp=3). Now, all this requirement is at database level as i am creating a db view. so my question is how to apply the to_number conversion function for converting the rating_cd field values (bep, ep, vp, nr) from string to specific mentioned numbers. Could you please help?
for eg: create or replace view as select to_number(rating_cd....................
Thank you. -
Hi all,
We are using OBIEE 11g Mapviewer to display some results. We have point as well as polygon location geometries which combined with other dimensions display scores on the map.
It seems there is a restriction on the display graphics that can be used based on a geometry type. It is something like the following table:
Geometry Type - Graphic Format
Polygon - Color Fill, Bubble, Pie Graph, and Bar Graph
Point - Bubble, Variable Shape, Image, and Custom Point
We display a pie graph of scores on a given polygon and would like to keep it standard irrespective of the underlying geometry.
I was wondering if its possible to force use a Pie Graph on Point geometry?
Please let us know if there is a way to solve this. Really appreciate your time.
Thanks!Hi
Your best bet is to follow the Security Guide:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E20490_01/bia.7963/e19042.pdf
Really you just need to make sure the Responsibility names are the same as the Application Roles. So either you create new responsibilities in EBS to match the existing (seeded) roles or you create new roles in OBI Apps to match your existing responsibilites. Both ways round are valid and it all depends on your security solution.
Thanks

Default rounding when a numeric column is divided.
When I perform an arithmetic division over any numeric column from the subject area, I do not get any fractional value in my BI Answers report. i.e. when a value 50 is divided by 3 I get only 16.00 and not 16.67 even when the column data is rounded to 2 decimal places. But the same works when multiplied with a fractioned number i.e. when 50 is multiplied by 1.33 then I get 66.50 as the result.
Does any kind of default rounding happening with the result when a division is being performed in BI Answers? Is there any ways to overcome this issue? I use OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1

Edited by: Vishnu Ramakrishnan on Jun 15, 2012 2:21 AMINT / INT = INT...that's what you have to bear in mind. 50 / 3 = 16. 50 / 3.0 = 16.67. Just force one as a DOUBLE by adding .0 and bob's your uncle.

OBIEE - TODATE and YTD Graphing
Dear all,
This is a difficult one I'm having.
I've got three measures. Income, Forecast and Variance. They've all got "TODATE" wrapped round them at RPD level and work fine in reports, alongside my "weekly" Income, Forecast and Variance measures.
I have a dashboard prompt with a single week at the top of my dash. When selected, it passes this week to an intermediate "week number driver" report which calculates -4/+4 weeks of the selected date.
I have my Income, Forecast and Variance measures in a line graph, which uses the following logic; "where Week Number is greater than or equal to any Start Week Number in Week Number Driver Report" and "where Week Number is less than or equal to any End Week Number in Week Number Driver Report".
This shows a graph with my selected week in the middle, four weeks back and four weeks forward from that date (e.g. Week 12 shows Weeks 8 to 16).
My problem is; For weeks 1 to 7 the YTD line values are correct over all measures. They show the YTD values I'm expecting. However, when I go to Week 8 onwards (so Week 8 is the first shown in the graph), the YTD values are incorrect. I guess this is because the system is "YTDing" using 8 as the starting week, instead of using Week 1 - can't confirm though.
Could anyone shed any light on this problem? How do I get the graph to calculate from Week 1, regardless of which -4/+4 period of weeks are shown?
Many thanks,
Alasdair
UPDADE: Doh! Wrong forum! My bad. Please see OBIEE forum and ignore this post!

OBI rounding off to 2 decimals
I just created a a simple request with a dumy column and one column and gave the calculation for this column as 23/12.6. The result returned is 1.83. Why the result is rounding off to two decimal places?
thx.hi parag,
Obiee internally rounds it off to 2 decimals....for the calculation you mentioned 23/12.6 gives you big number after decimal something like 16 digits.
If you want check it out with select 23/12.6 from dual (OR)
if you want to round your preferred decimal check with this query select round(23/12.6,5) from dual
Hope it helps you.

Hi, There are 1000+ orders are in error when we check thru COFC . As it's a tedious job to check error message for each error record, Is there any table to get error text messages for all error records? Thanks in advance Murali
