Rpd Modelling, Report design - Forecast Measure

Hi,
I have a reporting requirement to compare the forecast measures across months:
The report format is such: Dashboard Prompt => 'Month' Selection... say M1
If month not selected in the prompt then take the current month, say M1
Revenue
Month - 3 months 120
Month - 2 months 110
Month - 1 month 100
Taking M1 = Aug in above scenario:
Revenue
May 120
June 110
July 100
How should i show the previous months data in my report given a value for a month? In this case previous 1month, 2 month and 3 month.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. But I am not able to achieve this scenario with pivot table. Maybe you can explain how to achieve it with pivot table or some other approach. I will explain again:
Prompt: Month= M1
Forecast Revenue
M1 -1month
M1 -2months
M1- 3months
Say M1 = Aug
Forecast Revenue
July
June
May
Thanks

  • How to convert Report Model to Report Designer DataSet

    To all,
I have a two part question. One is I am experiencing the error at the end of this question when migrating SQL Server 2005 SSRS Native Reports, the report uses a Report Model, to SQL Server 2008 SSRS Native. I bring the Report and Report Model to SQL Server 2008 SSRS and get the error at the end of the question below. Background and the 2nd question are below.
I have a bunch of Report Builder based Reports. I need to convert them to VS BIDS based Report Designer Reports with Shared Datasources and MDX based DataSets.
How can I grab the MDX from the Report Builder Report Model so I can put it into the Report Designer DataSet Query Definition?
What is the easiest way to make this migration between these Report development environments.
I am able to open the Report.RDL file in VS BIDS and can see the entire UI layer. The DataSet I see here is the one that is related to the error at the end of the question. The RD/DataSet holds:

I have created a Shared Datasource that points the the correct Analysis Services cubes that the original Report Model pointed at.
However, I get this error when running the report:
An error occurred during client rendering.
An error has occurred during report processing.
Semantic query compilation failed: e EmptySemanticQuery The SemanticQuery does not contain any Groupings or MeasureGroups. SemanticQuery must contain at least one of these elements. (SemanticQuery '').

Actually the error above is from running the report on SSRS 2008 Native. Does anyone know why I get this error and how it may be resolved.
Then I try to bring the report into BIDS RD and create a SDS and DataSet. The Semantic Query above is from the RD DataSet Query window.
I get the following error when running the report in BIDS RD:
An error occured during local processing.
An error has occured during report processing.
Query execution failed for dataset 'dataSet'.
The SemanticQuery element at line 7, column 351 (namespace http://schema.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2004/10semanticmodeling) cannot appear under Envelope/Body/Execute/Command.
So I have two errors with two scenarios. I'd like to know how to resolve one of them.
I'd also like to know how to get the MDX from the RB/RM report so I can put it into the VS BIDS Version and get that to work properly.
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • Not getting Report Model Query Designer in SSRS

I am working on SQL Server reporting Service(SSRS) with Report Builder 3. I successfully connected Data Source with Oracle Server. When I working in Report Builder I did not find Report Model Query Designer. How can I find this?
How can it possible to merge dataset with datasource(database entity) in SSRS?
    Please help me.

    Hi Jewel,
To enable Report Model Query Designer in Report Builder, we need use Report Model as the datasource. Report models can be used as data sources for reports created in Report Designer and Report Builder 3.0.
So in your scenario, you need to create a Report Model project in SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS), and then deploy this report model to report server. Then in Report Builder, you can use this report model as datasource and open
    Report Model Query Designer window.
    Reference.

If I have anything misunderstood, please point it out.

  • Best ways to create rpd or reports if we have data in more fact tables

I have fact and dimensional data in one or more different tables. Then each logical table source represents one data segment. Please suggest me some methods or ways like fragmentation through which i can use them in creating rpd and report and main problem here is facts too large contains 25 million records. But adding tables in BMM layer effecting performance so can anyone other ways doing it in database side.
    Thanks in advance
    Edited by: user2989722 on Dec 3, 2009 3:09 PM

    hi,
For the fragmentation you can create on dimension .The procedure is clearly explained in this blog
    http://108obiee.blogspot.com/2009/01/fragmentation-in-obiee.html
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2007/06/19/obiee-data-modeling-tips-2-fragmentation/
For the performance point of view you can create a Materialized view (based on columns that your report is using) so that it will hit that particluar view instead of hitting whole table(25million records table) please look into this post

  • How to push Process model to design model?

I just learned how to capture business requirements and a logical design using the logical data modeler and process molder to create data flow diagrams, with composite, primitive and transformative processes in SQL Developer 3.0
I know in Oracle Designer we were able to associate entities to business functions and transform the business functions into modules of type PL SQL or screen, etc.... We could create detail design documents from this information in Oracle Designer. In Oracle Designer the modules would be associated to the physical table definitions. However, the data flows in SQL developer are associated to logical entities.
My question is can these objects/items (processes primitive, composite, transformative) be transformed into design items similar to how we transform a business function in Oracle Designer into a modulel?
    Thanks
    Mark
    Mark Kramm

    Hi Mark,
there is no support for applications and modules in Data Modeler.
Design can be exported to reporting repository and there is no limit in how you can utilize these meta data. Column groups and UI defaults can be defined at table and column level - I know some people are generating APEX applications and process model can be very helpful for that.
In Oracle Designer the modules would be associated to the physical table definitions. However, the data flows in SQL developer are associated to logical entities. Each entity can be mapped to unlimited number of implementations in form of tables in relational and physical models. You need to engineer logical model to one or more relational models. There is small wizard appearing in context menu of data flow diagram node in browser - "Transform Process model roles to Physical role". You can create roles in process model and assign them to processes connected to data stores. Then this wizard will create these roles in selected physical model and CRUD settings will be transferred to permissions to select, insert, update and delete for related tables. This is just example that physical model can be reachable from process model.
We'll add more utilization of definitions in process model in future releases.

When all the reports are executed using a costume measures the report execution fails after a long time of execution (7min). The report has 1200 accounts and 57 company codes.
In order to create trial balance we create these costume measure. Basically the measures are standars (with a few changes) and it works for limited reports (few account and companies) but we I try to executed for several accounts and companies I have the following error:
“The execution of report Default Report failed. Please contact your administrator.”
Error while communicating with the server
    Framework message:
The underlying connection was close: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.
    Summary of the BPC LOG:
    |An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to https://BPCENV.APPSET.MODEL. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the service shutting down). See server logs for more details.#
We already increased the PSAPTEMP table and this didn’t fix the issue. At the beginning we were sure that this was an issue with table space but the error persist.
I don’t think (maybe I’m wrong) that this is not an issue related to the costume measure or to authorizations since I can retrieve data if I reduce the request to less accounts an company, so in my point of view this looks like a performance issue.
Just for you, below you will find the details about our measure that generate the problem:
    'IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="INC",SUM(PERIODSTODATE([%TIME%].[%TIMEYEARLEVEL%], [%TIME%].CURRENTMEMBER), [MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA]),
    IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="EXP",SUM(PERIODSTODATE([%TIME%].[%TIMEYEARLEVEL%],[%TIME%].CURRENTMEMBER),[MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA]),
    IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="AST",([MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA],CLOSINGPERIOD([%TIME%].[%TIMEBASELEVEL%])),
    IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="LEQ",([MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA], CLOSINGPERIOD([%TIME%].[%TIMEBASELEVEL%])),[MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA]))))';SOLVE_ORDER=3
Finally is important to mention that we are using BPC 10.0 NW (SP08)
If you have any suggestion for me I will appreciate.
    Thanks you a lot!

    Hi Vadim,
Once again, thanks for your help.
We already modified the YTD standard measure but is with that measure that I have problem. Do you think that my new formula is not efficient and for that reason I’m having this problem? Is this correct?.
Below you will find the standard and costume measure. In red I marked the difference between these 2 formulas:
    YEAR TO DATE CUSTOME MESURE:
    'IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="INC",SUM(PERIODSTODATE([%TIME%].[%TIMEYEARLEVEL%], [%TIME%].CURRENTMEMBER), [MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA]),
    IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="EXP",SUM(PERIODSTODATE([%TIME%].[%TIMEYEARLEVEL%],[%TIME%].CURRENTMEMBER),[MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA]),
    IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="AST",([MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA],CLOSINGPERIOD([%TIME%].[%TIMEBASELEVEL%])),
    IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="LEQ",([MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA], CLOSINGPERIOD([%TIME%].[%TIMEBASELEVEL%])),[MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA]))))';SOLVE_ORDER=3
    YEAR TO DATE STANDAR MEASURE:
    'IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="INC",SUM(PERIODSTODATE([%TIME%].[%TIMEYEARLEVEL%], [%TIME%].CURRENTMEMBER),-[MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA]),
    IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="EXP",SUM(PERIODSTODATE([%TIME%].[%TIMEYEARLEVEL%],[%TIME%].CURRENTMEMBER),[MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA]),
    IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="AST",([MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA], CLOSINGPERIOD([%TIME%].[%TIMEBASELEVEL%])),
    IIF([%ACCOUNT%].CURRENTMEMBER.PROPERTIES("2/CPMB/ACCTYPE")="LEQ",-([MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA], CLOSINGPERIOD([%TIME%].[%TIMEBASELEVEL%])),-[MEASURES].[/CPMB/SDATA]))))';SOLVE_ORDER=3
If you have any suggestion to correct my formula I would really appreciate it.

  • How to see data modeller reports in sql developer?

How to see data modeller reports in sql developer?

    1) export your design to existing schema in Oracle database
    2) define connection to that schema in SQL Developer
    3) find "Data Modeler Reports" in reports window of SQL Developer - probably "design rules" are more interesting here

  • OBIEE 11g: RPD modeling question

I am running into challenges thinking of a design for the following request and would love to get input from the forum users...
I have a FactA and a FactB. Both join to a Site Dimension.
Both Facts contain a Site_Key, Occurrence Number and a Metric.
FactA has 3 rows for Site "New Jersey" with 3 Occurrences and the applicable Metric. FactB has 1 row for Site "New Jersey" with the applicable Metric.
The ask was for Ad-Hoc users. When a user selects only Metric (FactA) and Site then the query hit FactA (Returns 3 rows). When a user selects only Metric (FactB) and Site then the query hit FactB (Returns 1 row). If a user selects both metrics then the query brings back the common rows, a join on the two facts betweeen Site_Key and Occurrence Number (In this case 1 row is returned for Occurrence 1 in both tables).
I had tried with the Physical joins between Site and the two Facts. Then joining the two facts as well.
I then set up a Logical Fact with 3 LTSs. One being FactA, one being FactB and the other being a join between FactA and FactB (Under the General tab and Joins). I mapped Metric (FactA) to the 2 applicable LTS and Metric (FactB) to the 2 applicable LTS.
OBIEE will stick with one LTS or the other no matter how the metrics are pulled, whether the Priority Group is the same or different.
I understand Fact to Fact join is not optimable, I was just hoping to get feedback on if this request is even acheivable from an RPD modeling perspective.
    Thanks in advance!

    In Physical layer:
    Fa Joins with Sites
    Fb Joins with Sites
Create alias for Fa and Fb name them as Faa and Fbb join both tables, and also with Sites (any one Fact is enough to join with Sites)
    In BMM layer:
    Logical table Sites
    Logical Fact with sources:
LT1-->Fa; Create metric this is for
When a user selects only Metric (FactA) and Site then the query hit FactA (Returns 3 rows). LT2-->Fb; Create metric this is for
When a user selects only Metric (FactB) and Site then the query hit FactB (Returns 1 row). LT3-->Pull Faa and then properties add Fbb, then Create metric this is for
If a user selects both metrics then the query brings back the common rows, a join on the two facts betweeen Site_Key and Occurrence Number >(In this case 1 row is returned for Occurrence 1 in both tables). If this is not working send me email.

  • Reporting on forecast errors

    Hi,
I need to report on forecast results and errors in BW.
I am trying to extract data from  tables
    /SAPAPO/FCSTACCU
    /SAPAPO/FCSTHEAD
    /SAPAPO/DP_FCST2.
I could get the forecast profile and the selection id associated with that. But my problem is where to look up to find the details of the selection like Material X, Plant Y and so on.
Can somebody help me in this?
    Thanks.

You can search for the tables starting with /1APO*. These tables are automatically generated when you run forecast using automatic model. They are based on your planning area and there is a filed called selection id. There is also a selection ids description that helps you what selection was taken for that. There are also details on the characteristics in CVC. The only problem with this is the table is not common in all the clients and is specific to that system. The good news is it is unique in a client.Your program or report should point that table in that client.
    Hope this helps.

  • How ro restrict BEx Items like Report Designer,etc..

    Hello Friends,
I have a situation where my end users should not be able to run Report Designer,Web Analyzer,Planning Modeller and BEx Broadcaster.
Can any one suggest me how to do this.
Do we have any auth objects that control them.
I tried to look many ways i didnt find any way.
    Thanks,
    Ram

for working on broadcaster user should have S_RS_ADMWB with field RSADMWBOBJ = BR_SETTING, and object S_RS_BCS.
and for saving and executing the formatted report in report designer user should have access to S_RS_ERPT.
make sure your endusers do not have these. that would do your job. users can get in to broadcaster and report designer, but they can't do anything. getting into these tools cannot be prevented until what I know.
S_RS_TOOLS was made a mandatory check in NW04s. so unless a user has it he won't be able to get into Web application designer.besides that S_RS_BITM and BTMP would help to restrict at owner level.
S_RS_TOOLS takes the 'COMMAND' = WEBPUBLISH.
unless you add this object to a user, he won't be able to get into WAD.
SAP din't provided anything like this to other tools until now. may be not many customers are requesting for it.

  • Report with same measure but opened by 2 different level of emp hierarchy

Hi all, I need to have a report with columns like these:
COLS: Region -- Employee Level 3 -- Product Class -- Forecast ($) for Emp Level 2 -- Forecast ($) for Emp Level 2
SAMPLE: NAS -- Anthony Fernicola -- Apps -- 100 (forecast for Anthony) -- 500 (forecast for Anthony's manager which is Keith Block)
I mean, on the report criteria I drag those columns and and from the emp hierarchy dimension I drag that EMPLOYEE LEVEL 3 column since the report must show all those employees for that level, but as you can see on the same line of the report we should show as well the forecast for the manager, in this case the EMPLOYEE LEVEL 2..
To get that measure I tried:
    1) on the formula the SUM (forecast($)) BY EMPLOYEE LEVEL2 but the data is not matching the real data..
    2) I also tried to use the FILTER function on the formula but I don't know how to filter it since it requires a filter_expression that I cannot give, I just want to show on that "Forecast ($) for Emp Level 2" column the forecast measure by that level 2..
    3) I also tried UNION but on the results the report is showing as well the LEVEL 2 for the employee and we do not want it since we want to show all LEVEL3 only...
do you know how to do this?
    thank you!!!!

Are you sure the brackets are in the right location?
    This:
    SELECT
    0 s_0,
    "A - Sample Sales"."Sales Person"."E1 Sales Rep Name" s_1,
    "A - Sample Sales"."Sales Person"."E9 Manager Name" s_2,
    "A - Sample Sales"."Base Facts"."1- Revenue" s_3,
    SUM("A - Sample Sales"."Base Facts"."1- Revenue" BY "A - Sample Sales"."Sales Person"."E9  Manager Name") s_4
    FROM "A - Sample Sales"
ORDER BY 1, 3 ASC NULLS LAST, 2 ASC NULLS LAST
    works fine for me
    Regards

  • Report Designer - Error while opening a saved report

    Hi,
I am not sure if this is an authorization issue or configuration issue.
When I try to open a saved report on Report designer, I keeping getting an error: Report Version is invalid: "0".
    Has anybody faced similar problem?
    We are on SP09.
    Regards,
    Payal.

    Payal,
I am afraid, that your report might be corrupted. This might have happened, if in tx SE16 the version is changed. The Report XML displayed in SE16 for table RSERDATA, is limited to ca. 1024 charachters. When editing the version, after pressing the save button, the Report XML is cut off at 1024 charachters and the report is lost.
Please do not set the report version in tx SE16!
I will need to configure the program RS_REPORT_MAINTAIN, such that reports with version "0" can be saved with the minimum version 9.0.
Until then I recommend the following procedure for Reports that are ok, but have the Version "0" bug:
    1) in tx SE38, program: RS_REPORT_MAINTAIN
open your report with option "DT" (designtime)
    2) Switch to Edit mode.
Make a backup copy of the report using the "Save As" Button.
You can copy the Report XML to the clipboard using Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C
3a) Open a dummy report in RS_REPORT_MAINTAIN created previously with
Report Desginer ( --> The version is set to 9.0).
Switch to edit mode and paste the Report XML and Save.
      or
    3b) Debug FUNCTION rs_bex_report_load_rfc.
Open a report and change the value of E_REPORT_VERSION to "9.0"
          before leaving the function.
    Hope this helps, karim
    P.S.
    I will update note 1016224

  • Viewing Report created in Crystal Report Designer

<p>Hi,</p><p>I&#39;m new to CR4E and tries to work with existing report. I saw many error while trying this, please excuse me to the long email below that I explain all the errors I saw......</p><p>I have some reports that were created in Crystal Report Designer (CR XI Release 2) connecting to the Oracle Database using "Oracle Server" type connection. How can I access it from CR4E? I have the following problem (in the order I see them)</p><p>1) In the Eclipse&#39;s JSP page, I specified the full path to the report, but I get a report not found error. Must the report locate within the project? Is there any way we can open a report outside of the project?</p><p>2) I copied the report to the project, </p><p>    a) followed jrc_print_report example to print the report, get "JNDI name not found" error. </p><p>    b) then generate a viewer page, but I get the Driver "crdb_oracle.dll" is not supported error.</p><p>3) I setup the new JNDI followed the jrc_changedatasource.jsp example to change the datasource, but I still get the "JNDI name not found" error.</p><p>4) I imported the report intoEclipse and changed the connection. Then I can create a jsp page to print it to a printer (I still can&#39;t view it, but my goal is to print, so that&#39;s ok). However, </p><p>    a) the original report has a "Command" object from the Oracle database to control where to select the report&#39;s data, when I remap, this object disappear and I cannot see how to recreate it. Any suggestion?</p><p>    b) also, the report is very complex with many subreports and it will be nightmare to go in and change all of the datasource, also a maintenance nightmare to maintain two copies. Any better suggestions?</p><p>Thank you very much! Your help is very appreciated.</p><p>Celia</p>

    Hi Celia
    1. Yes the Java Reporting Component (JRC) which is the runtime component of the Crystal Reports for Eclipse can open reports outside the project.  Its often better to have the reports inside the project for deployment purposes but you are welcome to put the report where ever you need it.Â
Note: To use absolute paths, ensure that the CRConfig.xml file does not contain a reportlocation tag.
    2. The JRC can't report off of Oracle directly, you would need to use a JDBC driver to connect your reports to Oracle. The crdb_oracle.dll will never connect because its not Java.Â
    3. When the JRC finds that the report is not using a supported database driver it will do a lookup to find the name of the report datasource. When it finds the datasource name it will then do a JNDI lookup for a JDBC datasource with the same name. If your Application server doesn't have a datasource with that name it will through the error you were seeing.Â
    4. I'm not sure about losing the Command object when changing the datasource but this is probably happening because the Command is linked to the database driver.
    5. What you could try doing is creating a JDBC Datasource on your application server where this app will run with a JNDI name that matches your report datasource name. If your reports datasource name is "MyOracleDatasource" then I believe the JNDI name for new JDBC Datasource would have to be "jdbc/MyOracleDatasource".
You could give this a try.
