Rsdb/obj/large_object_size
Hi gurus,
regarding rsdb/obj/large_object_size XXX
what happened when I have an objet bigger than rsdb/obj/large_object_size XXX size?
1) the object will be placed in swap and never in the memory
2) the buffer allocate another block of XXX in order to store the object.
Thank you.
The Object will not be buffered because it cannot be . You would need to increase the buffer memory
The export/Import buffer at max can use 20 -30% of the memory defined by rsdb/obj/large_object_size only . If this space is filled up swapping will happen .
This parameter controls the number of free lists managed by the Export/Import buffer
Check SAP Note
1860418 - Work processes "hang" in critical path of Export/Import buffer
Thanks ,
Manu

sadiqHello Sadiq,
I agree with the previous post, I'm afraid there is no quick fix for this, especially since we cannot see all of these red entries.
If your errors are purely in memory management on SAP side, you should consider posting in the CST "memory management" part of this forum
Advise from a DB2 perspective is to make sure that all memory specific setting are correct as per note:
899322 DB6: DB2 9.1 Standard Parameter Settings
After setting these parmeters and carrying out further fine tuning yourself, you should consider scheduling an early watch session from SAP.
Best of luck,
Paul

Thanks for all your inputs.
As Suggested we have restarted the production server however identified many swap entries red as fllows( Field Description- 30,970, intial Records- 26,169, Program Buffer - 71,628, CUA- 30,442, Screen - 826 ) and Tables Generic Key - 389 & Export / Import - 247,144 )
I see that Buffer Hit ration of EXport / Import is 83.93 except this all other buffers are above 99 % .
Below are my system configuration details:
OS: WIN - 2003
SAP Version : ECC 5.0
Main Memory Configured : 6 GB
Paging Memory : 15 GB
Memory Parameters :
rsdb/ntab/ftabsize 30000 kB Size of field description buffer
rsdb/ntab/entrycount 20000 Max. number / 2 of table descriptions buffered

Program buffer PXA
abap/buffersize 400000 kB Size of program buffer
abap/pxa shared Program buffer mode
CUA buffer
rsdb/cua/buffersize 3000 kB Size of CUA buffer
The number of max. buffered CUA objects is always: size / (2 kB)
Generic key table buffer TABL
zcsa/table_buffer_area 30000000 Byte Size of generic key table buffer
zcsa/db_max_buftab 5000 Max. number of buffered objects
Export/import buffer EIBUF

rsdb/obj/large_object_size 8192 Byte Estimation for the size of the largest object
rsdb/obj/mutex_n 0 Number of mutexes in Export/Import buffer
Based on the above information, Could some one please help me in tunning the memory parameters ( i.e at what extent i can increase / Decrease ) as i was doing this first time.
Would be much appreciable if some could throw some light on this issue.
Many Thanks,

Performance Tuning for ECC 6.0
Hi All,
I have an ECC 6.0EP 7.0(ABAPJAVA). My system is very slow. I have Oracle 10.2.0.1.
Can you please guide me how to do these steps in the sytem
1) Reorganization should be done at least for the top 10 huge tables
and their indexes
2) Unaccessed data can be taken out by SAP Archiving
3)Apply the relevant corrections for top sap standard objects
4) CBO update statistics must be latest for all SAP and customer objects
I have never done performance tuning and want to do it on this system.
Regards,
JitenderHi,
Below are the details of ST06. Please suggest me what should I do. the system performance is very bad.

Regards,
AhmedThere is no easy way to tell.
You have go through the list of all of things to do for tuning.
One at a time and slowly rule out each item.
Couple of questions ??
Why do you have so many Dialog and Batch processes ??
Dont you have any Application servers ??
At first glance the Number of processes are too high
IN SM50 you need to click on the clock and see if all of the processes are being used and the time they have been used.
From you have mentioned would say the 2 vb processes are being used constantly
If that is the case then Would increase the number of vb and vb2 and decrease dialog accordingly

Slow Perforamnce while executing the customizing program
HI All
My Prd server hardware are consist of 2 itanium processor, 8gb ram and 20gb pagefile with the 500 GB SAN Storage for the datadisk.
I have almost 250 users on my PRD server over the 8 branches with the WAN connectivity. I have been set the 15 wp, 4 update process, 4 background process, 1 spool and UP2. Also, my profile parameter are paste down.
Always, i have slow perforamnce issue with the following setting, my hardware are enough to handle these requese as we did sizing in the begining of the project and have been monitoring my hardware by the st06 and st03n workload performance
Is there anyone expert to analyze my problem and parameter and share his expereince to add or modify the below parameter which will boom the performance.

THANKS!!Hi Carlos,
From ST02 you can "current parameters" button, that will tell all current parameters per buffer.
You are bound to have swaps in some buffers altough ideally the number should be 0. Less than 10,000 a day is the maximum recommended by SAP.
Have a look at the history of the buffer and check when the swaps happened etc. Is it daily or a one off because something abnormal was running on the system a particular day.
Then check if the swaps happen because you're running out of space in the buffer or number of entries allowed. Then you can start thinking of tuning it.
Remenber that the swaps you see are since startup, so look at the history as well.
Let me know if you need any more help.

rsdb/obj/mutex_n 0 Number of mutexes in Export/Import buffer
Swap rate for Export/import buffer is almost 120 swaps per day.
Moreover 2 instance are running on these server having 4gb RAM Capacity.
plz tell me to what extent i have to increase the size of these parameters so that swap rate comes down.

Disp_work process terminates
Dear All,
I have done a refresh and prior to refresh I have installed the sap software. its a high end server with 16cpu and 16gb RAM.The system is PRD( copy from HD1)
I have copied the following profile parameter from HD1,
rdisp/max_alt_modes = 2
rdisp/max_wprun_time = 316000
rtbb/max_tables = 500
rsdb/ntab/ftabsize = 40000
rsdb/ntab/entrycount = 30000
rsdb/obj/max_objects = 20000
rsdb/obj/buffersize = 40000
rsdb/obj/large_object_size = 8192

5.abap/heap_area_nondia = 2000000000
6.abap/heap_area_dia = 2000000000
Also when I have installed sap the instance profile had 6 dailogue processes set. I have changed it to 26 thinking the server can handle the load. But when I have copied the above parameter in instance profile of PRD, the disp_work terminates.
It shows me 2 error.
1. PXA_NO_SHARED_MEMORY
2. SYSTEM_NO_ROLL
I have checked for those error and the first one is related to abap/buffersize = 500000. But what is the problem with it???
and do all the parameter fits in with the new server?Dear Markus,
I will brief you before I paste the dev_w0 file details.
We have a high end server 16GB RAM and 16CPU. The profile parameter which I have pasted before was from the instance profile of previous prod server(BOS). I tried to put the same value, I mean the same parameter with the values in PRD but gave problem, which I reverted and carried on with default. Today I have changed the dia instance from 26 to 16 thinking it might be the problem, but its all memory related. The first error file is
