RSS feed in my page

Greetings,
I am using Java Studio Creator to create my pages and I want to add an RSS feed in certain location of my page, I get three news pulled from the particular site. I use ui script for displaying it, but when the news are displayed on the page it is sprawled over the page and is not confined to the particular section.
Please help me with this issue, how I forma the news from RSS feed into my page.
Regards,
Pranabi.

It seems to me you should be able to confine your news feeds to a specific part of the page with page fragments. The tutorial Using Page Fragments should give you a start. It's located here:

• I am not able to subscribe to RSS feeds or bookmark pages

I was having trouble with my version 3 of Firefox originally. I couldn't open it because it was saying it was still running. I found the correction to that problem (something about deleting a "parent" file) only after I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. When I uninstalled Firefox I sadly lost all of my RSS feeds and bookmarks. When I reinstalled it I was updated to Firefox 4. Since that time I have not been able to subscribe to any RSS Feeds or bookmark any pages. I am completely and utterly frustrated. Please help!

I hope it works out for you. A couple of comments.
Apple does not have a way to restrict searches on safari. It just is not there. But if you search the app store for parental control, you will find at least 1 browser that does. You can use that as your normal browser, and bury safari in a folder somewhere where the kiddies wont easily find it. Read the reviews, and see if it does what you want.
As respects purchases, remember that when you make a purchase, your password remains active for 15 min. I have been reading the posts here for over a year, and there is a continued stream of folks who download an innocent free app, hand the pad to the kids, and find the invoice the next day for $200 worth of smuf berries or some such nonsense. Keep eyes open.

• Add Someone Elses RSS feed to my iWeb Page

I would like to add a quote of someone else's RSS Feed onto my page. For example, I think it would be nice to be able to show a summary of the current weather in my town from weather.com in a text box on my page. Can this be easily done within a page created by iWeb? I know that I can add a static link to the weather.com page, but an auto updated box would be cool.
Apologies if some of my terminology is not correct, and thanks for any helpful hints!

Check this page out for a cool online HTML code generator to do just what you want...
http://p3k.org/rss/
Once you get the HTML code, you will have to edit it into your published page.html file, using the now standard method of adding external HTML...
Two things to keep in mind...1. No way to do this via iWeb directly, so it involves editing the published html files, and 2. Because iWeb republishes the html files whenever you update the your webpage, you will lose your changes and have to redo them to add your banners back.
The general directions are as follows...
1. Decide where you want your feed box and know exactly what dimensions you need.
2. Insert a text box onto your page and adjust its size to exactly your dimensions.
3. Type in some uniquely identifiable text like, "RSSFEEDHERE" without changing the font or anything else...just type it in.
4. Publish your page with iWeb.
5. Find the html file associated with your published page (either on your iDisk or in a folder depending on how you published) and open it in any text editor (like Microsoft Word, or Textedit, or anything).
6. Scroll through the html file and locate your placeholder text, e.g. "RSSFEEDHERE".
7. Replace the placeholder text with your html code and save your page. (not save as, just save)
That's it. You should see your rss feed box show up where you placed the text box.

Perhaps, if you post a link to the page that doesn't work,
someone can
show you how to fix it.

Hi Kenneth,
RSS feeds for home pages are on the unfortunately long list of improvements. It is high up there.
But if you don't want to miss any materials, then you should check out DevToday, which you find under Services.
https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/devnews.sdn?node=linkn2
It shows only the new stuff that came in within the last I think it is 30 days. You can tailor it to your information interests by rating these objects. You can even create a daily or weekly email from it.
Gone is the fear of missing good information, Mark.
P.S. If now only that DevToday page had an RSS feed
P.P.S. Of course it only works if you are logged in, which by the way everyone using SDN should be.

• Create RSS feed in Dreamweaver CS6

Is there a tutorial or other documentation describing how to add an RSS feed to a page in Dreamweaver (CS6)?
Thanks,
Chick

Let me explain, the link to the RSS shows a demonstartion of an RSS feed that originates from this forum. The reason why you did not see your post anymore is because there are (were) newer posts that replaced yours.
This demonstration page was made using Dreamweaver and the markup can be seen when you right click the page and choose View Source or similar.
The demo site was hand coded, but there is very little to it if you have a look at the source code.
I also suggested an alternative if you do not know how to hand code.
If this is not what you want, then please explain what it is that you do want.

• How do I get RSS Feeds to work in Kerberos?

Hi,
I am migrating from sharepoint 2010 to sharepoint 2013. The SharePoint 2010 site used kerberos and I have kerberos working for the migrated site in 2013 (kerberos). However, the RSS feeds on front page show error
An unexpected error occurred processing your request. Check the logs for details
and correct the problem.
It would be good to know what SPN settings are required for which specific server account in 3 tier farm.
Help would be really appreciated.
Thanks.
John.

Kerberos is not a pain. It consists of Service Names and/or Delegations. That's it.
Kerberos does not really care about which server your running on. It cares about the service name and the security principal.
So the service you log on to has a name: intranet.contoso.com - you need to register an spn for that;
You need to register the service name with the account running it. Basically that is the context your service is running in and that needs to be the same across the domain. aka you cannot have two services with the same name, running with different service
accounts. (Who is then the owner of the service?)
HTTP/intranet.contoso.com <Application Pool Account>
If your RSS is comming from that service name, you're good to go. But in your case, it seems that the RSS is comming from another service name. So make sure that is also registrered, using the same principal as the above.
Note: the service type can be different. HTTP, MSSQLSvc, WSMan, MSOLAPSvc.3 etc. This will depend on your service type. All web requests are HTTP. This is not a protocol, but a service type.
Now in order to pass your credentials from service1(intranet.contoso.com) to service2.(extranet.contoso.com) you need to enable the delegation. Delegation basically allows your service account, to take your ticket and pass it on to another service.
So under your service1 service account, you enable delegation towards the service2 name.

• Using an RSS feed

Another question, has anyone embedded an RSS feed on a page? My client wants a medical news feed on their site and I see several that are RSS based. Here is the one we are looking at:
feed://www.medpagetoday.com/rss/Cardiology.xml
Can it be embedded into a page without any of the blue top?
Steve

Depending on the feed's markup, you can use CSS to style it.
Personally, I run any content from an external source through my own PHP to sanitize it (to avoid cross site scripting bugaboos) and to style it.

• Turning my audio files into rss feed for podcasting

I have been trying to figure this out for a while now and my brain is ready to explode! My website is hopechurchla.com. I am trying to make the audio files in our sermon archive into an RSS feed so that I can turn it into a podcast. everything I read seems to say it is simple but it is skipping over the first step for me. How do I place the rss feed into my page for the audio files.
I may not even be asking this right... any help would be appreciated
avery

There is no need to do anything to your audio files to make them into an RSS feed. An RSS feed is simply a list of links and descriptions that people can subscribe to, written in xml language.
You can use whatever type of audio files you might like, but you'll probably give a broader audiance access to the audio files if they are of the file type mp3.
So store all your mp3s in a folder named "sermons" or whatever you may choose and then link to them in your .xml file.... this becomes the RSS feed. But be aware that viewers will need either a browser that can open RSS feed documents or some sort of New Reader like:
http://email.about.com/od/rssreaderswin/tp/top_rss_windows.htm
For a sample RSS feed:
http://www.lynnjohnson.citradingcards.com/podcast.xml
view the source code to see the structure.
Or
http://www.podcast411.com/howto_1.html
.... tons of similar tutorials on line.
But no... yuo don't do anything with the audio except perhaps make sure they are all mp3 files and stored in a separate folder.
Best wishes,

• RSS Feeds on Yahoo Front Page/My Yahoo are no longer loading. Please help!

After "fixing" my installation of Firefox I am unable to load any RSS feeds onto My Yahoo Front Page! They are all gone. Please help me to recover these important feeds. They are my only source of News every day.

It is part and parcel of the Yahoo Front page where one can choose what media, if any, one wishes to view. No, they are not add-ons gathered from you or anywhere else. I'm surprised Mozilla does not know that, actually! I do not believe Yahoo allows RSS feeds outside of their own to be included on that Front Page/Home Page.

• The system Pages library and its RSS feed do not work properly in SharePoint 2010

This question is about RSS feed for the system 'Pages' library in SharePoint 2010.
Now there are 5 'News' pages in the system 'Pages' library. In each news page there is one field called 'Title' for the news title. One of the news page is named 'FileNamePage5.aspx', and the news title is 'This is the title of page5'.
I have enabled RSS in Site Settings, and configured RSS Settings for the 'Pages' library from the Communications section via Document Library Settings. I selected a few columns to display in the RSS description, including the 'Title' column. In the RSS feed
(XML file) of the system 'Pages' library, I checked the XML source code, and found the news page file name appearing in the
tag below within the feed (XML source code).

FileNamePage5

and the original news title 'This is the title of page5' was appearing in the
tag in the feed (XML sorce code)

... This is the title of page5...

.
This would make it hard to extract ONLY the original news title (This is the title of page5) out of the feed via XSLT, because the data within the
tag in the feed also contains data from all other selected columns defined via the RSS
Setting. If I did not select the 'Title' column via RSS Setting above, I even could not find the orinigal news title in the RSS feed.
This is happening for all other news pages in the system 'Pages' library. Is this what SharePoint 2010 normally does? or is something wrong with the settings for site or the system 'Pages' library?
How to display ONLY the original news title (This is the title of page5) in the
tag in the RSS feed. Please Help me to resolve this issue.
谢亚军@Sydney

Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to display the value in Title column of Pages library in title tag in RSS Feed in SharePoint.
I tested the same scenario per your post, the title tag in RSS Feed displayed the value of Name column in libraries and displayed the value of Title column in lists.
It is by design and there is no OOB way to change the default column mapping in RSS Feed.
I recommend to customize your own RSS Feed style sheet to make the title displays the value of Title column in SharePoint libraries.
Here is a link about customizing the RSS Feed for document library for you to take a look:

Best regards.
