RT Sys Manager shows 100% CPU always

When using the RT System Manager, I have found that the CPU usage is always 100% - even when all loaded VIs are idle. The chart is segmented with yellow (normal priority) tasks and white (low priority tasks) - yellow on top.

Tommy,
What sort of target are you using?
If it is a FieldPoint or Compact FieldPoint RT Controller, this is the normal operation of the module. With FieldPoint RT controllers, there are two programs running simultaneously; the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine and the IA Control Environment. The LabVIEW Run-Time engine is the portion that runs any LabVIEW code that you develop and download. The IA Control Environment is the program that reads/writes to the IO and publishes the data over ethernet (providing all NI Logos protocol based communication). The IA Control Environment is set to run at normal or low priority so that it shares time with your application (running in the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine).
You can reduce the time being used by the IA Control Environment by setting the Pause parameter to a value other than 0 ms (valid values are 0 - 1000 ms). By setting the Pause parameter to a non-zero value, you place the control environment to sleep. This will slow down the rate at which new values are published and updates are applied. For example, setting the Pause parameter to 1000 ms means that the channels will be read and published over the network at 1000 ms intervals, potentially causing a delay in the notification of value changes, or the application of new values from write commands that were sent to the module. Note that FieldPoint Reads/Writes performed using the FieldPoint VIs running on code that was downloaded into the module is not effected by the Pause parameter. Alternatively, you can increase the thread priority of your downloaded VIs if you need the processor to spend more time on the LabVIEW code and less on the IA Control Environment.

Aaron

  • Satellite C670D-10W - Task manager shows 100% CPU usage

My brand new laptop with factory installed windows 7 and all programs by Toshiba nothing addded shows 100% processor usage in task Manager and works pretty slow. The sum of 80 odd processes shown in task manager never reaches more than 30-50 % but bottom line is always 100%.
Tried process hacker 2, shows same processes as task manager.
    What can be the problem?

If you check this forum you will see that you can find many threads with the same or similar content. Many people have noticed the same after notebook purchase, especially phenomena that notebook is pretty slow. Just without panic. What you must do is to optimize preinstalled operating system.
    What can be the problem?
Brand new notebook is preinstalled with original Toshiba recovery image. This recovery image contains operating system, all necessary drivers, different Toshiba specific tools and utilities and some additional software like preinstalled McAffe or Norton antivir.
Many of these tools, utilities and additional software will start with operating system and run in the background. To be honest some of them can be deactivated, some of them can be also removed from the system. By default Windows update is set to automatic so when you go online all available windows updates will be installed automatically in the background and this will happen without your knowledge. This updates installation will make your HDD pretty busy and notebook operations will be slowed down.
I recommend you to change this option and set it to Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install.....
I hope you understand what I want to say and if you have more questions you are welcome.

  • Mountain Lion 10.8.3: Dock shows 100%+ CPU in Activity Monitor

I upgraded my 'early 2008' MBP from 10.8.2 to 10.8.3 last week.  Memory use seems to have increased with no real change in application usage — .CPU utilization seems similar, too.  I have been watching Activity Monitor + vm_stat to see if I could identify any issues.  I just noticed that the Dock process shows 100% CPU utilization in the detail section — even though the Activity Monitor summary stats show plenty of idle CPU cycles available. Swap activity is minimal — this all makes me question the validity and/or accuracy of the detailed stats shown in Activity Monitor. Any input or comment from the community?
    TIA...
P.S. Activity Monitor screen shots are below.  And no, I'm not running Parallels as per prior discussion https://discussions.apple.com/message/15596756#15596756 from 2011.

My $HOME/Library/Preferences folder contained only two com.apple.dock.* files:
    com.apple.doc.plist w/current date timestamp
com.apple.doc.plist.KBPCAn with two-month old date timestamp
Detailed examination of the com.apple.doc.plist parameters seemed to be correct with nothing abnormal.
The killall Dock command suggested by Kappy seemed to address the 100%+ CPU at first, but then it returned.
Three consecutive full system shutdown/restart cycles seems to have eliminated Activity Monitor showing the Dock process running @ 100%+ CPU after 24+ hours of operation.  No changes were made to the content of com.apple.dock.plist.  My best guess at this point is that my system's Dock process may have had a memory leak-type issue that is neither traceable or reproduceable at this point.
The Activity Monitor issue variance (Dock process detail @ 100%+ CPU despite the summary record showing idle CPU cycles available) isn't explained.  It seems to me that the sum of the detailed Activity Monitor records should match the summary pie chart information presented.
Thanks to Kappy for the input and suggestion.  Further comment/discussion WRT the Activity Monitor issue is most welcome...

  • [GeForce 6] mpg shows 100% CPU Usage

Ever since I installed my new MSI NX6200 Graphic card, I havent been able to watch any of my mpg, mpeg, etc. files. I check the Task Manager, and it shows the player (let it be, Windows Media Player, RealOne, WinAmp, any1!) is using 100% of the CPU. What gives?
    MSI NX6200 TD128
    P4 1.8
60 GB Maxtor as System Drive
    200 GB Seagate Drive
    Creative Audigy Sound Card
Samsung SyncMaster 172x running on DVi
    Windows 2000 SP4
    512 RAM
    (anything else needed?)
    Everything is absolutely updated.
Games run fine, DVDs run fine, mp3s, name it, no problems whatsoever.
    So really, what gives?
    misterno

    You're telling me!
I checked the Hardware Acceleration. Fine.
So... How could my video processor be faulty? I mean, can a faulty video processor really pick his "enemies"? Why only mpeg and mpg, and not anything else?
    Forceware: 77.72
    Video BIOS: 5.43.02.57.29
And er... Nvidia DVD Decoder? Should I install this? I don't know what that is, sorry... I don't see how a DVD decoder can change the way mpg files are perceived...
HEEEELP. Some1's gotta know! It's driving me nuts!!! (Maybe it has nothing to do with my new video card. Maybe it's something else???)

  • Oracle Enterpise Manager shows 100% Temporay tablespace

    Hello,
Temporary Tablespace use is 100 % of use at The Oracle Enterprise Manager 9i, however i can see at v$sort_usage all the segmentsfree, i think one transaction filled all the temporary segments(i checked this at the alert) and as the sort extents are not de-allocated while the instance is running, OEM is showing the tablespace 100%.
    Could you confirm my theory?.
What do you in this cases in order to see in the OEM again the tablespace not 100% ?
Whether my therory is correct the segments are marked as free and can be re-used as required, however i have not see the temporary tablespace 100% for monitoring propouses.
    Regards & Thanks

Whatever you see in the enterprise manager is the amount of extents allocated. This is not the actual use, always.
"Temporary tablespaces should appear "full" after a while in a normally running database.
Extents are allocated once and then managed by the system. Rather then doing the rather
expensive operation of "space management" (data dictionary updates), the system will
allocate an extent in TEMP and then keep it and manage it itself. This is normal and
to be expected and is not an indication that you do not have any temporary space."

  • Satellite L550-11K - Device manager shows wrong CPU

I have bought the Satellite L550-11K to myself and because stan it has a p8700 processor with 2.53 GHz. However, in the device manager it stands 2 times a T4200 processor with 2 GHz!!!?

    Hey,
I had the same issue that the CPU in my desktop computer wasnt listed properly so I have removed the CPU from device manager (right click > uninstall) and restart the notebook. You have to remove both entries.
After restarting the CPU will be recognized again and this time it should be listed properly. For me it worked. :)
Another question, are you running the preinstalled OS or have you installed another OS?

  • Pro CS4 using 100% CPU Constantly

    Hi,
I wanted to know if anyone knows if I can limit the usage (for Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 only) - on my CPU usage (as seen in the Task Manager).
I have XP, SP3, 2G RAM, & have reloaded windows recently (this is not a virus or malaware problem, just the program's usage).  And it only occurs with 2 programs (Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 & Blackberry Desktop Manager) which are a heavy draws & therefore makes me not want to use them as much. Whenever I do, the fan is running high constantly & when I look in the Task Manager, it shows the Adobe program for example at: it hovers at around 32,000 K in the "Processes" window in the Task Manager & when using the program it goes to 245,000 K. But still that is not a lot compared to some other programs. Yet it seems to take up 87% or 89% or 90% or 98% or 99% all of the time under "CPU".  And the graph on "Performance" for the Task manager shows 100% the ENTIRE time (no waver).
Now Premiere Pro should use a higher draw & is quite an extensive program, BUT even my professional audio editing/recording software (Pro Tools) & others don't goto 100% at all (let alone constantly); and with Pro - 100% the ENTIRE time with my fan running higher the ENTIRE time seems too much for a computer's health I would think.  And so that's why I was simply wondering (if anyone knows) - HOW CAN I LIMIT THE CPU USAGE FOR JUST "PRO"?!
As always, thank you very much for your help!

If I had any idea "why" Pro does this, I would've have asked my question.  As I said, it is only with Pro (& another program). Other VERY heavy CPU draw programs like (Avid's) Pro Tools (which tracks & edits audio wave files) & is used by every professional engineer & producer (& actually uses up to 1,500,000 K in Mem. usage in the task manager - if using plug-ins) still doesn't draw 100% (like Pr. Pro is)!
And there are also times after I launch Pro (maybe 5+ minutes into it, long after all of my assets are imported again), when Pr. Pro FINALLY goes down to 51% (with the Mem. usage showing 295,000 K).  And then it hovers between 51%-79% for CPU usage from then on while I have Pro open.
So..  for Anyone who might help on this!
    A.  Does your Premiere Pro use about 51-80% CPU usage most often & you hear your fan running higher, & is this normal?
[For all I know, you all may say that is also what you encounter & it is normal!]
    B.  Any idea why it takes so long for Pro to go down to that 51-80% finally?  (And not all of the times I launch Pro!)
    C.  If this is NOT normal (& even 51-80% CPU usage is way to high compared to yours & everyone else's usage), do you have ANY ideas why only this program seems to do this (vs. other very extensive professional programs)?!  And how I might remedy this..
    Thank you..

  • Distiller 8 and 9 both locking up, 100 % CPU usage

Not sure if its related, but probably, since it happened right after...I just transferred everything from my quad core mac pro to my new 8-core Mac Pro. Everything went well, but now Distiller 8 starts and then sits and gives the beachball of death, and one of the cores shows 100% cpu usage. (I have that utility that shows memory used, CPU usage, etc.). I hadn't bought Acrobat 9 yet so I downloaded it and installed, and Distiller 9 does the EXACT same thing. The ONLY thing I can call an "error message" is that I can see in the window after it launches is "Error in /Library/Application Support/Adobe PDF/Settings/PDFX4 2007.joboptions:/CheckCompliance out of Range."
That message may have been there whole time, even when it worked, though. I don't know. At any rate, I need distiller working! Any ideas?

Glad to hear all is well. Preference files can cause big problems. Eons
ago, in the 1980s, I used a communications program called Red Ryder. I
loved the program. After it was updated to a new version (it might have
been called White Knight by that time), I started to have terrible
problems. I wrote to their technical support. They couldn't duplicate
the problem. It couldn't happen etc. I eventually got a little hot under
the collar. After all, if I couldn't use my modem, I couldn't check my
email, etc. It turned out to be a problem with my preference file when
converted to the latest version, that was causing the problem. Since
they always started with a new preference file, they couldn't duplicate
the problem that was obvious to me.

  • Windows Update Hangs - 100% CPU svchost

I installed XP Mode on a new ASUS H87M-Plus based computer.  The Windows XP mode VM works and I can get to the internet using IE.  When I run Windows Update it just hangs looking for updates.  Task Manager shows the CPU at 100%
in svcHost.  I have automatic updates turned off.  I have reinstalled XP mode 3 times now with the same result.
Update1:  I cleared the event logs and forced the problem to happen.  The event logs were almost empty, just the event I caused when I killed the process.  Process monitor indicates that iexplore.exe is running hard.
Update2: I installed IE 8 and loaded the patches.  No luck, Windows Update still hangs.
Any ideas on how I can get Windows XP updates to install?

  • Dock frozen, taking 100% CPU, 50gb swap

My dock is frozen and shows 100% cpu use (that is, 100% of one core).  It gradually takes more and more memory until I run out of hard disk space.  Killing the process does nothing - it immediately comes back at 100% of cpu and starts eating the memory over again.  Same with deleting com.apple.dock.plist.
This problem was occuring in 10.8.3, so i tried updating to 10.8.4, which had no effect.
    Any ideas?

I had this problem, eventually found a solution - it's to do with Parallels (and maybe VMWare Fusion) sharing Windows applications to the Mac Dock. It turned out that I had quit Parallels, but somehow it had left something about these shared Dock items in limbo.  Restarting Parallels got things right again, then disabling the Shared Windows Apps in the configuration of the VMs

  • 100% CPU Load

    Hi,
I've been running the trial of Lightroom on Win XP, Athlon XP 3.2Ghz w/1Gb RAM + 2 hard drives. 1 SATA drive (all my images) and a 10Gb IDE disk for the database.
I've read some of the FAQs and switched off every process that I don't need (AVG, iPod service etc). However, I've found that lightroom completely takes out my PC quite regularly (BSOD) and when it doesn't do that, it either crashes itself or sits there, doing absolutely nothing but taking 100% CPU load. It seems to be doing something in substrate.dll but I've googled and not found much information on it.
anybody have a similar experience? any ideas? From the odd bit of time I've had with the tool, I think it will be great, if only it didn't fall over at every opportunity.
    cheers,

  • Need Help! CPU shows 100% constantly in performance monitor

We have a new Dell t620 server running server 2012 std. running AD DS, dhcp, dns and the performance monitor shows constant 100% CPU load, while the processes in task manager can show very little CPU useage. By the way this is a Intel Xeon E5-2620 6 core
CPU, with 32GB ram which shows normally using only about 2GB ram at the same time. If I do a shutdown and restart I am getting the same 100% CPU load.
Does anyone know what might be causing this behavior?
We have other identical servers which show usually zero to low CPU load, performing the same functions.
Is this a known problem with server 2012 std.?

This server is now in service on a network. So I cannot shut it down during business day.
What is really strange is when I open task manager it shows almost all the CPU useage in APPS, which consist of task manager and resource monitor, with task manager sometimes even going to 100% CPU useage.
While memory, harddisk and ethernet are showing like low useage.
Do you all think it could be memory or a bad CPU? This is a 1 week old Dell server.
Does anyone know if there is a good memory checker that can be run from windows while server is in service?
    Thank you for your assistance.
