RTF Template formatting problem

Hi,
I am designing a report layout using MS Word.
The report format is like this
Employee: EmpID                           Date of Joining: DOJ
Employee Name: Ename                      Department     : DeptThe problem is that when i generate pdf preview, when the size of EmpId or Ename increases DOj and Dept shifts to further right
eg
Employee: 1                           Date of Joining: 12-Oct-2000
Employee Name: Scott                  Department    : Accounting
Employee: 123                                     Date of Joining: 12-Oct-2000
Employee Name: John Smith                             Department    : SalesIs there any way that i can fix the prompts/labels from shifting depending upon the size of the data?
I am using fields option to insert fields insert --> Fields
Thanks and Regards

Exactly,
Your understanding of Free format report is different,
to align to the output you need, you have to use the microsoft word options available,
if you dont want that,
you got to create xsl template , which is going to some declarative syntax, where you got to give the exact positions and coordinates of each field, which will be difficlut
so by putting this table from word ,your work of giving the declarative co-ordinates is highly reduced for each field.

    Hi
    I have a template (index.dwt.asp). In the body tag is
    <body id="<% =xid %>" class="<% =bodyclass %>" onload="SwitchMenu('<% =loadm %>')">
    when I create a new from template it writes the code with a capital L in the onload function which will not validate as xhtml strict.
    <body id="<% =xid %>" class="<% =bodyclass %>" onLoad="SwitchMenu('<% =loadm %>')">
    Is there any thing that can be done to stop this.
    Thanks

    Also, just so you'll know, I cannot reproduce this in CS4.  If I create a template -

  • Format problem when export to RTF

    Hi,
    Iam creating a RTF template, when export to pdf everything working fine. However, when i export to RTF(word) alot of document properties got lost such as :
    font size default to 12 when it's blank line; page number are not re-start for multi sections; table properties not holding, header, footer and edge margin are not holding, etc...... Is there any way to fix these. I tried to create a word macro to fix some of the format problems, but the macro have to run manually instead of initialized form a text field option on exit. Any idea on how to fix or work around would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Do you know if and when Pages will provide support for tables in rtf format? (My school requires that I send all assignments rtf format.)
    As Yvan points out, no one here can write what they know about it, and the vast majority of us know nothing about it.
    You cannot take any decision based on the assumption that Pages will one day support tables in RTFs, because it may never happen. If you need both RTF and tables, the only option is another tool (like NeoOffice, TextEdit, MS Office and so on).

  • Problem in .rtf template with 2 dimensions in rows section

    There is a problem with standard .rtf template: if we select two dimensions in rows, table header (with months) moves left to the position of the second column of row dimension like there is only one dimension in rows (i tested even with 4 dimension in rows, header still starts from the position of the second column of row dimension), in any case default template acts like there is only one dimension in a rows section when a report is being formed, if anybody has already faced that problem maybe you could share an advice to fix it?
    p.s. We usually use 1 and 2 dimension in rows

    i have a suggestion that there is a problem with colspan parameter in xml file that is built when HP starts creating pdf report, could anybody advise where i can find this xml that is used for creating report?

  • PDF formating issue in RTF Template

    Hi,
    I have an XML for which i have data for both subavisor level and fund level and the data at each fund level are derived/aggregated from Subadvisor level(using complex formula which is taken care at the database level not at the RTF level).
    I need to show both Fund level data and SubAdvisor level data in the report, so i have designed the required RTF Template to show the Sub Advisor level data for each fund Level Data.
    The Sample XML is(i have only included one SubAdvisorLevel data(XYZ) for the Fund(ABC) :
    <DATA_DS>
    - <G_1>
    <FUND_NAME>ABC</FUND_NAME>
    <SUB_ADV_ANA_MIL>1234</SUB_ADV_ANA_MIL>
    <MGMT_FEE_PAID>1234</MGMT_FEE_PAID>
    <MGMT_FEE_PAID_O>NA</MGMT_FEE_PAID_O>
    <MGMT_FEE_BP>1234</MGMT_FEE_BP>
    <MGMT_FEE_BP_O>NA</MGMT_FEE_BP_O>
    <TA_BILLABLE_ASSET>NA</TA_BILLABLE_ASSET>
    <TA_FEES_PAID>NA</TA_FEES_PAID>
    <TA_FEES_PAID_O>NA</TA_FEES_PAID_O>
    <TA_EFF_BP>NA</TA_EFF_BP>
    <TA_EFF_BP_O>NA</TA_EFF_BP_O>
    </G_1>
    - <G_1>
    <FUND_NAME>ABC</FUND_NAME>
    <SUB_ADV_NAME>XYZ</SUB_ADV_NAME>
    <SUB_ADV_ANA_MIL>123</SUB_ADV_ANA_MIL>
    <MGMT_FEE_PAID>123</MGMT_FEE_PAID>
    <MGMT_FEE_PAID_O>NA</MGMT_FEE_PAID_O>
    <MGMT_FEE_BP>123</MGMT_FEE_BP>
    <MGMT_FEE_BP_O>NA</MGMT_FEE_BP_O>
    <TA_BILLABLE_ASSET>NA</TA_BILLABLE_ASSET>
    <TA_FEES_PAID>NA</TA_FEES_PAID>
    <TA_FEES_PAID_O>NA</TA_FEES_PAID_O>
    <TA_EFF_BP>NA</TA_EFF_BP>
    <TA_EFF_BP_O>NA</TA_EFF_BP_O>
    </G_1>
    - <G_1>
    Because of this structure the XML, i have designed the RTF template by putting the following code:-
    <?for-each-group:G_1;./FUND_NAME?><?sort:current-group()/FUND_NAME;'ascending';data-type='text'?>
    <?FUND_NAME?> <?SUB_ADV_ANA_MIL?> ............................................(other Attributes are also present)
    <?for-each-group:current-group();./SUB_ADV_NAME?> <?if:SUB_ADV_NAME!=''?> <?SUB_ADV_ANA_MIL?>............(other Attributes are also present)
    <?end if?><?end for-each-group?>
    The only issue i am facing while exporting this RTF Template to PDF is that i am getting a blank row in the PDF(because of the condition <?if:SUB_ADV_NAME!=''?> ) for the 1st level of Sub Advisor level Grouping and there after all the Sub Advisor level data are coming up fine.
    Can you please help me out in resolving this issue

    Thanks Bipuser,
    But the inlines function in not giving the desired result, it is working in the same way even if i haven't put any condition.
    The problem with the existing condition <?if:SUB_ADV_NAME!=''?> is that only PDF is generated with the extra space and Excel does not comes up any space.
    Please let me know if you need any further information from my end.
    Thanks again,
    Regards

  • Conditional Formatting in RTF templates

    HI
    I am just going around with designing of rtf templates. I have a question regarding the conditional formatting feature. The question is
    IF i am having different type of customers(corporate,individual,etc..) passed as parameters, Can an particular cell be formatted with different colors for different customers. for example, if the parameter is corporate customer the the color of particular cell should be RED in color, and if parameter is Individual the color of cell Must be GREEN in color.
    Please help me out with this.
    Thanks in advance

    Yes you can conditionally format the individual cells.
    Take a look at the guide (link provided) and search for "Cell Highlighting":
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/e12187/T421739T481157.htm
    Example code: <?if:debit>1000?><xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="background-color">red</xsl:attribute><?end if?> <?debit?>

  • Problem with extended SQL functions in RTF Template

    Hello,
    I'm new to BI Publisher and I'm trying to create a new rtf template. I've created my layout and added fields without any problems, but I'm having trouble trying to insert calculations such as add,substract,multiply,divide, etc.
    Here is an example of what I'm trying to do:
    <?xdofx:STAFF_ASMT+100?>
    Where STAFF_ASMT is one of my fields. When I add this function all I get is the actual value from that field returned on the first page, and then on other pages I get the value plus an extra zero.
    So with my example data below I get: 6600 on page 1 and 51830 on page 2. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or if it is possible to do what I'm doing? Also, is it possible to add/substract/multiple two or more fields together?
    Something like this: <?xdofx:STAFF_ASMT+GROSS_INV?>
    I was going to add all of these functions to my SQL statement, but I have 30 or so calculations I want to perform in the layout and I don't want to have to write that all out in SQL.
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
    <STAFF_ASMT>6600</STAFF_ASMT>
    <GROSS_INV>0</GROSS_INV>
    </ROW>
    <ROW>
    <STAFF_ASMT>5183</STAFF_ASMT>
    <GROSS_INV>0</GROSS_INV>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    Thanks for your help

  • RTF template does not format properly when run from Concurent Manager

    Hi
    I have complex RTF template; many stuff in are in header in word table format,body section again fields are in table format and Footer again in word table format.
    When I run BI Publisher report as concurrent request half the content like header and footer are not displayed. I can see copmlete report when I preview using XML data in word. Is there any limitaions that certan fonts, word format features not supported in RTP template. What is the best way to put header, body and footen in main body area rather using Header and Footer features of word?
    Thanks and regards

    You can use the start:body etc syntax to move your header/footer into the main part of the document. This way you can use form fields.

  • Problems with check printing RTF template

    To BI Publisher Gurus,
    I am working on the check printing RTF template and facing a few issues with page breaks, filling the insufficient invoice lines with template and positioning of the table(s) itself inside the RTF template.
    For page break, am using the following piece of code just before the end of all of my FE loops.
    <xsl:if xdofo:ctx="inblock" test="position()-1<count($inner_group)"><xsl:attribute name="break-before">page</xsl:att:attribute></xsl:if>
    the $inner_group is my group for G_INVOICES to loop through all the invoices of a check in G_CHECKS group.
    The problem I'm facing is, everytime a check is printed its printing a blank page in between. Searched all the earlier forum posts but none of the solutions worked in my case.
    Second issue, for filling the insufficient invoice lines (in my case, am printing 26 invoices per page per check), the call to the blank lines template is repeating twice and found no way to get rid of it.
    Third issue, if the check is running into a second page, the call to the blank lines template does not work and the position of the bottom part of check is getting misaligned.
    I am ready to send my template and the sample XML file to look at. Thanks for your time and effort.

    Hi Tim,
    Hi Tim,
    Could you please send me the sample rtf. We are also using APXPBFEG program for check printing..
    Also I have problem in generating dots(....) in the check where if total invoices lines are 37 and we have only one line of invoice then I have to generate 36 dots (.) in the invoice porition of the check..
    I appreciate your help..
