"rtmsg: error writing to routing socket"

Anyone know what this means? I get this message whenever I unplug my LAN cable from my computer. In case it helps, my network is a bit weird. Every time I plug in my computer, my hostname is reset. It gets set back when I remove the cable, but it looks like this message is being generated when the hostname is reverted. It only started happening recently, and I don't think I changed anything. Anyone know anything that could help? I'm a bit worried since it's an error message, but my computer seems to work fine, so I'm not so worried. Thanks.

Some more information (can someone please help me?):
1) After rebooting, I was back to one message per event.
2) Connecting to wireless appears to compound the issue. When I connect to wireless and then disconnect, I get 2 entries. When I reconnect and then re-disconnect, I get 4. I can't seem to replicate 6 again though.
I'd like to call Apple on this one, but I don't have a landline, and my cell phone doesn't have enough minutes on it to spend half an hour on hold with them.

  • Error writing strings to Socket

    i'm having trouble writing strings to a socket
    i can out OutputStream to write to the socket
    but i cant use BufferedWriter or OutputStreamWriter
    to write string to my socket...
    Hmm... is there a special way to write strings to a socket??
    here is some of my codes
    ServerSocket ss = new ServerSocket(1500);
    Socket sock = ss.accept();
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(sock.getInputStream()));
    //BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(sock.getOutputStream())); //<--- doesnt work
    OutputStream out = new sock.getOutputStream(); //<--- works but can only write char
    char ch = (char)in.read();
    while(ch != 'x' && ch > 0){
         System.out.println(ch);
         ch = (char)in.read();
    /* doesnt work when using BufferedWriter
    String str = "<bye>88</bye>";
    out.write(str);
    for(int i=0; i<10; i++)
         out.write((int)'h');
    out.write(0);
    So any suggestions??

    To write a String to an output stream, first convert it into a byte array.
    myString.getBytes()

    I might as well just post my classes. What I really need is a comprehensive guide to reading and writing to a socket. The sockets aren't being printed, and I know it's because they hang on the "readline()" statements in the netcheck functions. Why do they hang?

    Oh yea, I just forgot to flush :)
    Everything's fine now - works great. BTW, do you guys
    reccomend keeping a socket, or just creating a new
    one every time you want to send information?Now why would you want to create a new Socket everytime.From the server once a Sockets bounds to the port you stick by it receive the desired clients.From the client side once a socket establishes a connection with the other host you can keep that socket alive till you carry out the task that you want to and then once you are through close the connection.

    Hi

    Hi,
    I am not quite sure where exactly you get an error. Are you trying to prepare an agent that connects to your newly installed LD?
    You did mention the following:
    I was able to ssh from master to LD with promptDo you mean you could login from the MS to the LD without password and got the OS prompt? What you have to make sure is that your ssh authentication works for the n1sps user (or whatever you have chosen during installation) from MS to LD and from LD to RA. That involves copying the public key from the MS n1sps user to the .ssh/authorized_keys files on the LD and RA. And after that, you should check the connections manually:
    1. From the MS: ssh <LD> ls -al
    2. From the MS: ssh <LD> ssh <RA> ls -al
    These both commands should work without any prompts and after that, you shouldn't get any error messages in SPS anymore.
    HTH,
    Michael

  • Firewall: Error sending to the socket, server is not responding.

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to connect AIX machine to NT DB2 Database through JDBC with a firewall. I'm using the standard port 6789 in JDBC Applet Server in NT DB2. But I've gotten the following message:
    COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2Exception: [IBM][JDBC Driver] CLI0614E Error sending to the socket, server is not responding. SQLSTATE=08S01
    The connection chain I'm using for AIX side is:
    jdbc:db2://192.168.3.4:6789/DATABASE
    I've configured the firewal to allow the port 6789 to be used, and also the other port 51544 (it's for remote administration, I think). I've also checked that wires and other stuff is working fine, but stil I cannot connect to the Database.
    I don't know if there's something missing on the firewall configuration. Before, everything was working without the firewall.
    Any help will be apreciated, THanks.
    Rodrigo, SPAIN

    It looks like no port problem is happening, because we freed all the ports just to see if client tried to use some of them without our knowing. But it was still the same.
    We were thinking about routing issues, but we were able to ping from client to server, and ports 6789 and 51544 were open as well. Maybe JDBC Client Driver is looking for an different IP address than 192.168.3.4. We know the firewall doesn't receive any query from JDBC Client, and that's very strange because if you see the routing tables in AIX machine, the default route is the firewall. Of course, there's not any other static defined route for the server (192.168.3.4), so it's supposed that default route is going to be used. But it's not.
    We also restarted client machine from scratch but nothing. Maybe this problem happens because there's something wrong in AIX networking settings.

  • When downloading iTunes, I got a message about error writing to file and it told the file. Then it said to verify that you have access to that directory. I have no idea how to fix it. I could really use some help, please.

    I was trying to download iTunes on my computer, and while doing so, I got this message: Error writing to file: C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Apple/Apple Application Support/Apple Versions.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory. I have downloaded iTunes numerous times and I have never had this problem. If anyone knows what's going on, I would really appreciate the help.

    Well, there's definitely a mac and a Windows version. And you're at the right page. I think the problem is that someone forgot (or decided not to) to update the text at teh bottom of the page to have Mac and Windows.
    Just push the button, you'll get the Mac update no problem.

    Hi Rangnath,
    For running SharePoint Designer 2013, you need to install Microsoft .NET 4.0 Framework or higher.
    Please uninstall the Microsoft .NET 4.0 Framework, and install it again. After that, reboot your machine.

    That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
    XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
    Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
    Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
    The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Error writing to install cache

    For testing (of a product using the web server) purposes, I've had occassion to deinstall and reinstall the iPlanet Web Server v6.0 SP 5. I'm also using the iPlanet Directory Server v5.1 and am careful to install it before the web server.
    The first time I in stall all is well. But after I deinstall and attempt to reinstall I am getting error msgs:

    So far, I've been unable to find any documentation about the install cache or why the install is having problems writing to it.
    Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

    Beat:  I ran as Administrator and tried downloading a second program  Same thing.  Then I check I I saw the file was Hidden so I inchecke

    .  So apparently LR3 couldn't get in there.  SO I tried to delete that file.  No good.
    So now what?  What created that file in the first place?  Maybe I have to re-install that program.  Ignoring it as an option doesn't work.  It just ends the installatiopn of LR3.
    Any suggestions?
