Run and Deploy JavaFX applets on Linux Fedora
Hi all,
This is a step by step, how to run and deploy JavaFX applets on Linux/Fedora
http://java-javafx-iipt.blogspot.com/2009/04/run-and-deploy-javafx-applets-on-linux.html
Hope you find it useful.
Kaesar ALNIJRES
Something like this should workjava -cp /path-to-external-jar:SMSClient.jar TheMainClassWhen you use the -jar option, the -cp option is ignored. If you want to use -jar, you can add a Class-Path entry into theSMSClient jar's manifest with the relative path to the external jar.

SDM password when running and deploying webdynpro application
Hi
I developed a simple webdynpro application, no eventing just displays text. I rebuild it and then 'run and deploy' application. While doing this it pops up with a dialog box asking for a SDM password.
Is this deploying correctly?
Any assistance is much appreciatedHi Dajee,
Yes it is deploying correctly. Give sdm as password it sould work if you don't have changed the default password of SDM.

Help with Deploy javaFx applet to the web, please
I am new to JavaFx. I have a difficult time to deploy it to the web as an applet. Java console indicates that my jnlp file is not available. Here is what I have done:
1. In the javaFx project (netbeans project), I put together a small application following the tutorial (app). Run as standard desktop app, it works fine. Run as applet, everything is ok except no images.
2. In another web project (also netbeans project), I add the javaFx project generated app.jar to the web-inf/lib folder, modify the index.jsp to include a javaFx project generated app.html file and put it at the root of the web application. I also put the favaFx project generated app_browser.jnlp file in the same folder as index.jsp and app.html. Later on also in the web-inf/lib with app.jar. No matter where i put this app.jnlp file, I only see the spinning java logo. Java console states that jnlp is not available.
this is in my index.jsp: <jsp:include page="app.html" />
this is in my app.html:

qdingWelcome to the Sun forums.
It would be worth checking the deployment launch file (JNLP) using JaNeLA *(<- link).* As the other poster mentioned, the file is invalid (OK - not well-formed, but possibly also invalid after that is fixed). Also, JaNeLA should warn you that the resources in WEB-INF are not accessible.
Please do not repost(1) questions in future.

How to build and deploy JavaFX app
OpenJfx forum is clumsy, awkward and practically unusable so please excuse posting it here.
Say, I have written a, hopefully, correct .fx script source file or files.
Then, next, what should I do to run it/them as a standalone Java program, and, an applet-like executable on the browser?
The current tutorial on OpenJfx site has no mention on this most basic issue.
Without any IDE, please.Got an half-answer on the openjfx:

I can run the server and everything works fine but as soon as
I loggout, the server stops running.
I believe I need to run as a "background" service or
something like that.
Any hint would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.To run in the background, use the nohup command and redirect

How to compile and run windows built .fmb file in linux
Hi,
I have developer suite 10g installed in windows OS.
i built a .fmb forms binary file in windows. now i want to compile and deploy this .fmb file into .fmx file in linux and run it.
I have Oracle Application Server Enterprise version along with Forms/Reports services installed on my linux box.
Can someone guide how to use my AS Form services in linux to complie and run my .fmb file.
Thanks in advance,
Philip.is there a easier way or is this the only way to
compile a .fmb file in a linux machine.Yes, there also a way interactive(not in batch), but you have to need use X-session (GUI) variables DISPLAY
You can compile module after module if you change $i with you form(FMB) userid
frmcmp_batch.sh userid=scott/tiger@bs817 batch=no module=$i module_type=form
compile_all=yes window_state=minimize
Remember you must set FORMS PATH and ORACLE_HOME/bin where frmcmp_batch is
Then, run file where you insert frmcmp_batch.sh
How do i invoke forms builder, forms compiler in a
linux machine where i have installed Application
Server Enterprise edition?You don't invoke FORM BUILDER
(assumption is that the "development" machine is a MS Windows platform and the "deployment" machine is a Unix platform)
FMX, MMX, and PLX files are NOT portable between platforms. Source code (FMB, MMB, PLL) must be recompiled when moving from one platform to another. This includes moving from one Unix platform to another (i.e. Sun Solaris to Linux) or one Windows platform version to another.
frmcmp_batch.sh is script that run executable (compiler) for Linux OS
In Forms 10.1.2.0.2 and newer, the executable and script names are. frmcmp , frmcmp_batch..
Once all of the executables have been generated the path to these files will need to be included in the Forms deployment environment. In most cases this will be the FORMS90_PATH value in the Forms env file, "default.env"
I hope to have been clear

Hi Guys
Successfully installed Oracle Linux 6.4 operating system , which subsequently runs as expected.
When Oracle Linux 6.4 is shutdown using standard GUI system/shutdown ,
it does a clean shutdown and power-off as expected ....
UNTIL some 10 minutes or so later , when Oracle Linux 6.4 reboots all by itself from a fully powered-down state.
Likewise when Oracle Linux 6.4 is shutdown using standard command line " shutdown -h now" ,
it does a clean shutdown and power-off as expected ....
UNTIL some 10 minutes or so later , when Oracle Linux 6.4 reboots all by itself from a fully powered-down state.
Clearly it is NOT desirable to have the operating system able restart of it's own accord.
A manual shutdown is typically done for good reason , and the server should remain shutdown.
The previous version, ie Oracle Linux 6.3 did not exhibit this behavior.
When Oracle Linux 6.3 was shutdown, it stayed shutdown
Question
======
Does anyone know how to STOP Oracle Linux 6.4 from restarting itself after a successful shutdown ?
Thanks

BUG after deploying/running ADF on 10.1.3(Linux) gives JBO-25002 error
We have found out that there could be a bug in the Linux version of Application Server 10.1.3.0.0 or the Windows version of Jdeveloper.
We are using:
* Application Server 10.1.3.0.0 (Integrated Web Server, J2EE Server and Proces Management) on both a Windows XP machine and a Linux (Red Hat) machine.
* Jdeveloper Version 10.1.3.1.0.3984 (Build JDEVADF_10.1.3.1.0_NT_061009.1404.3984)
We are developing an ADF application using business/ADF components with several jspx pages in the latest version of JDeveloper.
* Testing it on the embedded server of JDeveloper everything works perfectly fine. We can click through all the screens without getting errors;
* After deploying the ADF application to the home instance on the Windows version of 10.1.3 Appplication server everything still works as expected.
* Finally when we deploy the same application to the home instance of the Linux version of the 10.1.3 we are getting the following error after loading the first jspx form page:
500 Internal Server Error
JBO-30003: The application pool (nl.ech.tm.model.service.ECHTMServiceLocal) failed to checkout an application module due to the following exception:oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.JboException, msg=JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.NoDefException, msg=JBO-25002: Definition nl.ech.tm.model.dataaccess.TmMarktPartijenRO of type View Definition not found at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.ApplicationPoolImpl.doCheckout(ApplicationPoolImpl.java:1954) at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.ApplicationPoolImpl.useApplicationModule(ApplicationPoolImpl.java:2756) at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.SessionCookieImpl.useApplicationModule(SessionCookieImpl.java:426) at oracle.jbo.http.HttpSessionCookieImpl.useApplicationModule(HttpSessionCookieImpl.java:258) at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.SessionCookieImpl.useApplicationModule(SessionCookieImpl.java:397) at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.SessionCookieImpl.useApplicationModule(SessionCookieImpl.java:392) at oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DCJboDataControl.rebuildApplicationModule(DCJboDataControl.java:1550) at oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DCJboDataControl.beginRequest(DCJboDataControl.java:1408) at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCDataControlReference.getDataControl(DCDataControlReference.java:99) at oracle.adf.model.BindingContext.get(BindingContext.java:465) at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCUtil.findSpelObject(DCUtil.java:280) at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCUtil.findSpelObject(DCUtil.java:248) at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCUtil.findContextObject(DCUtil.java:383) at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCIteratorBinding.<init>(DCIteratorBinding.java:127) at oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUIteratorBinding.<init>(JUIteratorBinding.java:60) at oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUIteratorDef.createIterBinding(JUIteratorDef.java:87) at oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUIteratorDef.createIterBinding(JUIteratorDef.java:51) at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCIteratorBindingDef.createExecutableBinding(DCIteratorBindingDef.java:277) at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCBindingContainerDef.createExecutables(DCBindingContainerDef.java:296) at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCBindingContainerDef.createBindingContainer(DCBindingContainerDef.java:425) at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCBindingContainerReference.createBindingContainer(DCBindingContainerReference.java:54) at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCBindingContainerReference.getBindingContainer(DCBindingContainerReference.java:44)
We have tried many things:
* Checking the databindings in the model layer of the ADF application
* Checking and testing the datasources on the Linux Application Server
* Using Jdeveloper 10.1.3 and later 10.1.3.1
* Deploy remotely from Jdeveloper
* Deploy the EAR file from the EM consol
* Adding extra ADF/BC4J libraries with the Linux deployment
* Creating another OC4J instance, deploying the BC4J components and redeploying the ADF application
* Reinstalling the Application Server software on Linux (clean install)
Does anyone have a clue why it works on only on Windows and not on Linux?
We have not tried yet :
* To deploy another ADF business components application on the Linux application Server (when I have done this I'll get back to you)
* Compare the versions of the ADF components used on the application server with the versions of the ADF components in the Jdeveloper installation (could there be a difference? Is there a newer version of Application Server 10.1.3 available?).
Cheers,
ThomasThank you guys. We have found the solution for the deployment problem on Linux. Oracle technical support has pointed us into the right direction.
During the development process two databindings (XML files) were renamed in the model layer (\Model\classes\model\dataaccess\). Like for example we had a data binding called DTBinding.xml that was renamed to DtBinding.xml. The changes were applied in the source code of the project. After depoyment to the application server it seems that the old databinding file was still there (DTBinding.xml). This was the cause of the JBO-25002 error on Linux. After renaming DTBinding.xml to correct file name DtBinding.xml (in the folder /opt/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/j2ee/OC4J_TMFB/applications/APPNAME/APPNAME/WEB-INF/classes/model/dataaccess) and restarting the OC4J instance on the application server the application was finally working on Linux.
A few things to keep in mind when you are developing on Windows and deploying to Linux:
* The Windows OS is not looking at uppercase characters in XML file names. As long as the file name of the XML is correct it will be found.
* It seems that changes in the databinding filenames in the JDeveloper (10.1.3.1) source code are not correctly submitted after building and deploying the project. So be carefull with changing names.
Cheers,

JavaFX applet and embedded font. Browser compatibility?
I'm trying to embed font to the JavaFX applet. I'm following instructions from [JavaFX Tutorial|http://download.oracle.com/javafx/1.3/tutorials/custom_fonts/index.html]
It works fine on Mac OS X using Safari and Firefox browsers, but doesn't work in Chrome and Opera. As well it doesn't work in window's browsers!
How to get it to work?
Edited by: 842622 on Mar 8, 2011 4:29 AMOnly workable solution yet is:
def awtFont = java.awt.Font.createFont(java.awt.Font.TRUETYPE_FONT, Main.class.getResourceAsStream("custom font.ttf"));
def m = java.awt.GraphicsEnvironment.class.getMethod("registerFont", java.awt.Font.class);
m.invoke(java.awt.GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment(), awtFont);
def fxFont = Font {name: awtFont.getName() size: 18}seems ugly, but works

JMF RTP and Linux/Fedora Core3
Hello,
I am attempting to use JMF 2.1.1e with Linux/Fedora Core3, and see an exception as:
java.io.IOException: Can't open local data port: 51450
at com.sun.media.datasink.rtp.Handler.open(Handler.java:141)
Debugging more, I can see the Handler.open fails when it is trying to
rtpmanager.initialize(localaddr);
where localaddr is "SessionAddress()" (no args to the constructor).
I am unable to debug beyond this. Any help?
Best regards,
-Arun.More debugging, but still at a block:
It seems: com.sun.media.rtp.RTPSessionMgr is instantiated as the rtpmanager.
There is no source for this and so cannot figure out why this fails.
Best regards,
-Arun. -

BigIP F5 : changing IP leads to cache invalidated and redownload of applet jars
Hello all,
In short, I'm trying to figure out how to have the java 7 plugin not considering the server IP to decide whether to use cached version of our applet's signed jars.
As suggested in the title, we use BigIP's F5 boxes to dispatch requests among actual servers, which are located in 2 different sites (disaster recovery purposes).
Each site has an F5 box ; and our DNS resolve the application's host name by alternating between 2 different IPs : one for site 1, the other for site 2.
Each time a user visits http://theapp.mycompany.com, the host is resolved as 9.9.9.1 or 9.9.9.2, more or less randomly.
This works very nicely as long as the applet is not concerned, or bandwith and latency is good enough to absorb 1.5Mb in a snap.
For remote subsidiaries (10.000km away from servers), downloading 1.5Mb takes 35s -- too much for the normal user to wait.
And the problem is : the plugin insists on looking up the server IP each time it starts up, and ignores cache entries that have been downloaded from a different IP.
Here is the use case :
- user connects to http://theapp.mycompany.com ; the browser get an IP, doesn't matter which ; user logs on, navigates in the app's html pages -- no problem
- user gets to the applet :
- the html page says
<applet id="myApplet">
<param name="archive" value="a.jar,b.jar,c.jar,d.jar,e.jar"/>
<param name="codebase_lookup" value="false"/>
<param name="archive_1" value="a.jar, preload, version=7.5.7" />
<param name="archive_2" value="b.jar, preload, version=7.5.7" />
<param name="archive_3" value="c.jar, preload, version=7.5.7" />
<param name="archive_4" value="d.jar, preload, version=7.5.7" />
<param name="archive_5" value="e.jar, preload, version=7.5.7" />
<param name="baseUrl" value="/"/>
<param name="code" value="a/package/for/Applet.class"/>
<param name="mayscript" value="mayscript"/>
<param name="codebase" value="/applet/"/>
<param name="name" value="MyApplet" />"
<param name="locale" value="fr"/>
</applet>
The archive_n parameters are here in an attempt to tell the plugin to not even ask for jars if its cache contains entries with same host/same name/same version.
The version is assigned at build time at an application level ; it has nothing to do with the Implementation-Version attribute found in MANIFEST.MF files.
- Java and the plugin sarts up : let's assume this is the first time : cache is empty : all jars are downloaded ; as they are signed and the CA certificate chain was set in the browser config, and the java.policy is also configured to allow smooth exec, the applet runs smoothly -- after a long startup delay
- user leaves the applet, do some stuff in other applet-less pages for some minutes (the java/plugin processes are shut down after a minute or so)
- user reenters the page that contains the applet
- Java and the plugin start up again :
- the cache has entries for each jar : host, name, version are all ok.
- But : the jars are not seen as "prevalidated" ; heres' the applet log ( in French, translation provided after "//") :
network: Vérification de version pour a.jar. La version spécifiée est 7.5.7 //Checking version for a.jar. Specified version is 7.5.7
security: La vérification de révocation de la liste noire est activée // Check of blacklist revocation is activated
security: blacklist: created: NEED_LOAD, lastModified: 1378474147992
security: blacklist: hasBeenModifiedSince 1380806409906 (we have 1378474147992)
security: La vérification de liste de bibliothèques sécurisées est activée // Check of trusted libraries is activated
..... same for the other jars ....
network: Created version ID: 7.5.7
network: Created version ID: 7.5.7
network: Entrée de cache trouvée [URL : http://theapp.mycompany.com/applet/a.jar, version : 7.5.7] prevalidated=false/0 //Cache entry found
cache: Adding MemoryCache entry: http://sandbox-mosaic.jcdecaux.com/applet/plannerApplet_7.5.7.jar
network: Created version ID: 7.5.7
- The plugin then tries to lookup the host IP to check whether it matches that seen when creating the entry
- 2 possibilities here :
- the IP returned is the same : the plugin is happy, uses the cached jar, no question/download to/from the server, and the applet starts up quick and runs ok
- the IP returned is not the same ; the plugin says :
network: Vérification de version pour a.jar. La version spécifiée est 7.5.7 //Checking version for a.jar. Specified version is 7.5.
security: blacklist: created: NEED_LOAD, lastModified: 1378474147992
security: blacklist: hasBeenModifiedSince 1380806409906 (we have 1378474147992)
security: La vérification de liste de bibliothèques sécurisées est activée // Check of trusted libraries is activated
cache: CacheEntry IP mismatch: 9.9.9.1 != 9.9.9.2
and then it downloads again the jar.
Of course, all the jars are treated the same way.
Note that the applet eventually runs normally ; the only problem is that the cache essentially doesn't work, causing terribly annoying 35s delays at applet startup.
Interestingly enough, examining the jdk 6 code shows that the "prevalidated=false" fragment (in bold/pink above) means that the method CacheEntry.isKnownToBeSigned() returns false.
I tried with a self-signed certificate which I added first in IE as "Trusted publisher" ; I also tried with a certificate signed by a CA that is known by IE -- no help.
So I really wonder : what does it take to have the plugin consider that each jar "isKnownToBeSigned" ?
Any thoughts ?
Note : we of course are considering packing jars, cleaning dead code, etc. to decrease applet size. But it doesn't help with the fact that the plugin considers the IP, which it shouldn't do in our case. And even with pack200 we're left with +350Kb of unnecessary downloads, not counting with future code to be developped ...
Thanks for any feedback
David

java.quick.starter = falseThis behavior was introduced by a security "fix" intended to prevent a DNS re-binding attack which permits unsigned applets to escape the applet sandbox. The "fix" was, imo, very poorly thought out. You think you have a problem with 1.5 megabits of applet jars, but I have 8 megabytes, hundreds of thousands of users, with lousy networks. So now I'm stuck with a colocation vendor. Imagine my chagrin when they changed *their* ISP and thus their IP addresses.
As far as I can see, signed applets are already permitted (if the user allows) to communicate outside the sandbox, so this "fix" should not have been applied to signed jars, only to unsigned ones. There are a couple of other techniques that Oracle might have used to prevent this attack, but they chose the simplest one, effectively preventing anyone from using the most common, inexpensive strategies for improving the availability of their web-based Java applications. -

at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619)Sorry to revive this thread, but i had this problem a few moments ago and found the solution...
the problem is the DNS/rDNS for the client is missing in the server.
AFAIK, when the webutil is called, somehow the server is trying to to resolve the client IP or hostname and fails to do it, throwing the connection down.
After i confirmed that the client could resolve its own IP (via /etc/hosts), i created the DNS and rDNS for the client. After that the client could connect without any problem.
hope this helps someone in the future. -
JavaFX applets hang on Vista 64
I'm unable to run any applet that uses JavaFX on my 64-bit Vista machine (Vista Business 64-bit, SP2). The applet hangs during the Java loading animation. It consumes no CPU. For example, the Vancouver Olympics medal viewer (http://www.vancouver2010.com/olympic-medals/geo-view/). This happens on both Firefox (v3.6) and IE 8. On Firefox, it hangs the whole browser until I use Process Explorer to kill the Java subprocess. On IE, it does not hang the browser; the loading animation just spins forever. On Firefox, I turned on logging in the Java console (which also hangs) but saw nothing obvious. The last four lines are
Load Geographic View
reset view 2010
getEligibleCountriesForCurrentYear
network: Cache entry found [url: http://www.vancouver2010.com//api/country/list.json, version: null] prevalidated=false/0
I'm using Sun JDK 1.6.0_18, and it happens with both the 32- and the 64-bit versions. (Also, I have the JavaFX 1.2 SDK installed). Note that non-JavaFX applets work fine, for example the demo applets that ship with the JDK. One more data point: the Java EE 6 installer hangs also. The splash screen appears, then it opens a new window, then it hangs. The new window never fully paints. I don't know if this is related to my JavaFX troubles.
I'm a developer evaluating Java EE 6 and JavaFX for a possible RIA, but this has me completely stuck. Any help much appreciated.Okay, here's the stack traces, split across multiple replies to handle the 7,500 character limit:
