Run application at the startup

but its not local profile. It is network profile so when i click network account I do not get login items tab.
Is there other way where I can start programs even if I dont login as an administrator?

Also we do have Mac X serve.. is it possible to push that application to startup @ every login... its AD profile...

To run an application automatically at startup use Login Items of Accounts preferences. StartupItems folders are for special types of items. Not used for what you want.
Open Accounts preferences, click on the Login Items tab. Click the [+] button to add an item. A file Open dialog will appear. Locate the app you wish to add and click on the Open button.

Running application behind the proxy

I have developed one test SAPUI5 application and using Northwind OData service.
Application is working fine but when I try to run in my office network which is behind the proxy, application is giving "407,Proxy Authentication Required". Following is the web console log.
Yes this is the obvious behavior as I have to give my user name and password for accessing internet from my office network.
My question is how should I specify proxy user name and password in SAPUI5 application while accessing OData so that I can run it behind the proxy also.

Have you configured the proxy settings in Eclipse? I believe the SimpleProxyServlet uses the Eclipse Authenticator, and you can configure the proxy username and password in Eclipse.

Trying to run application in the background

Hello there,
I have written a small app using Apple Script. From the editor I have saved it as application and would like to run it as a background process. That is, I don't want it to show in the list of active applications I can switch to when I press command-tab. It does not matter if it is displayed in the dock or not. What I want to avoid is that every time that I switch to a different application that windowless application is also listed. By the way, I'm launching the application as a start up application and I have selected to hide the application, but it does not help, so I'm not sure if I'm missing anything. Any advise will be appreciated.

01. Save the AppleScript code as an 'Application Bundle', via 'Script Editor's 'File, Save As...' menu items' 'File Format:' popup buttons' 'Application Bundle' menu item.
02. In 'Finder' - '<control>' click (or right click, if using a multiple button mouse) on your just saved 'Application Bundle' application, and select the 'Show Package Contents' menu item. A window containing a folder 'Contents' will appear.

Minimizing and running applications in the background

I'm writing an app that I want to run in the background, executing a job every time period. My question is how do I minimize the JFrame so that is goes into the System tray(Y'know where you find the Volume control, PPP modem connection icon, etc...)
I know it can be done because LimeWire does it, but I don't see anything obvious in the docs how it was done. Help is much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

display of AWT and Swing Components as pop-ups. I always find it rather annoying when people scour past posts to promote a product that they have a vested interest in.

Is it allowed and possible to sell your running application in the Apple Appstore to another company, who wants to buy (take-over) the app?

If you build a very succesful app in the Appstore and now you get a lot of interest from other companies to buy the application(s), is this allowed from Apple and how is this possible if you want to sell your app to the interested company?
Does this include that all the current users will move to the new owner and would it be possible to rebrand and rename the app?

Unless something has changed lately, no.
You have to remove the app from sale and then add it back into the new account. Apple won't transfer apps to another account and unfortunately it will lose all current users.

Running Local Applications accross the Internet

Am working on a topic in which am required to run applications accross the internet. the basic elements of this are:
Connecting to a database and a client sending and receiving data.
Sending execute request to execute .exe or batch files on the server.
Enabling some components of a legacy software GUI to appear to a client through an applet and the client can input data and it is sent to the server.
Create folders and files on server and send data to that server.
View Maps on the internet in a webpage by client
For these am just new to Java, am asking for advice how best to do it and what books, internet sites and materials are good. I dont want to take too much time on it.

The better solution, from my point of view is to build a Swing application that is adapted to an applet. Books: Search for swing books. See the tutorial on the sun site. Also search the web. Another thing go to the Swing forum and see what they say there.

How to automatically activate a third party application upon MAC startup on OSX 10.9.5?

Can a "Bootable" OS 10.4.11 from a PowerPC be the startup on an Intel?

My PowerBook G4 running 10.4.11 is no longer with me, but luckily I have all my data backed up on a Lacie backup hard drive. I used Carbon Copy Cloner for the backup process and it was made "bootable."
Is it possible to make the Lacie HD the "Start up" disk when connected via FireWire to an Intel Mac, a MacBook, for example?
Or, can I only access the data via a "target" disk mode?
If the Lacie backup drive is connected, either as the "start up" disc, or in "target disk mode," is it possible for me to run programs which are on the backup drive for 10.4.11 which ran on a Power PC with the Intel mac it will be connected to? For example, I need to access and run my Quicken 2005 (or 2006?) program to work on the data, not just see the data, but use the program. As the program was installed on a PowerPC computer, will I still be able to use it while connected through the MacBook?

Thank you for all of these replies - I am grateful and had a bad feeling that would be the answer - can't boot from older OS.
But, if I'm in target disc mode, is it still possible for me to launch and run on the Intel Mac a program, i.e., "Quicken," that is loaded/stored in the back up hard drive?
I'm aware of Migration Assistant, etc., the problem is I'm not planning on buying another computer at the moment, I just need to get some of the data off my back up hard drive while using someone else's Mac.
Please let me know about running applications from the backup.

I assume two things from your questions -
1.you have development install on iasv1 (1.0.2.1 or 1.0.2.2).
2. By "whole system", you mean portal system.
Portal works with Apache/Jserv combination only. However, if you are using web providers, web-providers can be deployed on Tomcat also.

Running ext. drive as startup disk

on my WD mybook, which i am running as the startup disk, i notice that i when i turn my computer off, the light on the ext. drive stays on. which means that i don't think it is powering off. The WD website says to properly power it down, just drag it into the trash. But since i'm running it as the startup disk, won't dragging it into the trash shut down my whole system, since the OS is running from this drive? Any ideas on this and/or how to get it to shut down when i power my computer off?

I too have a mybook WD external drive.
Are you using the USB or FW interface?
although I`m not using the drive as my startup disk (that is another FW device on my chain), I can confirm that the disk does "spin down" when its not being used.
This is either after a long gap is disk access or by putting my mini to sleep. I know its "spun down" because I can hear a LONG delay in disk access if I try to access file from that drive. (you can also hear it physically spin down when it happens).
However the "power light" on the front stays illuminated. (It "beats"..... flashing on and off rather than "spins" like it normally does when accessing).
You might find that your drive is spinning down, and simply that the whole enclosure isn't "powersaving". The only way I can get the enclosure to poweroff is by pressing and holding the button on the front.

Why not get a list by tapping on the Apple in the upper left corner of screen and selecting Force Quite?

HT3680 My 3 year old iMac is freezing and I get a message "startup disk almost full for running applications. delete files..." Where do I find the startup disk and what should I delete?

My 3 year old Mac is having trouble and freezes up from time to time lately. I get a message saying "startup disk almost full, delete files ..." something about having enough room for applications to function. I know my startup disk is the Macintosh HD, but what kind of files do I need to delete and how much space do I need to free up? In my "about this mac" area, it says I have 4.89gb free out of 319.21 So I am confused why I need to do this.

You're less than 2% free and should always have at least 15% (my SWAG). Best is to get an ext FWHD and move stuff from the startup disk to it and delete it from that. Best things to move are movies, music, and photos, using the apps that manage those things.

Open a different vi than the startup vi from a build application in LV2009

When building an application (exe file), I have to select a vi as "statup vi" in the build specification. This vi opens its front panel and executes when I execute the application.
But I can still open the front panel of other vis by using a command line argument:
myapp.exe "myvi.vi
The startup vi still opens and runs, and the vi "myvi.vi" opens its front panel as well. That was before LV2009.
Since I upgraded from LV8.5 to LV2009, my shortcuts do not seem to work anymore. I also tried using a longer path with the new LV2009 exe structure:
myapp.exe "subdirectory\myvi.vi" since the vi is in a subdirectory. It does not work either.
1-How can I open a vi when launching a build application, like it was possible before LV2009
2-How can I (Why can I not) use the File/Open... menu item of a front panel window to open a vi that resides in side the build executable?

Well: in the advanced page of the build specification, we still see
the option "pass all command line arguments to application". If
disabled, only the arguments after "--" (two hyphen) are passed to the application
itself (according to the help for this dialog window). So I assume that the arguments before the two hyphens are interpreted by the runtime engine. In previous versions of LV putting a vi path (inside or outside of the exe) would open its front panel - even though doing a quick search I could not find documentation about this feature...
Is there any documentation about which arguments are
accepted by the runtime engine when the mentioned option is disabled?
Can we not give a vi that should open (anymore)?
