Running a Batch File using Auto Scheduler in HFM?

Hi,
Can we execute a batch file or run a macro or execute a VB script using the auto scheduler in Task Automation in HFM??

I'm having difficulty running a batch script the way you describe.
One line of code in c:\test.bat:
echo Hello >c:\test.log
This works just fine.
However, for the life of me I cannot get this to work through Task Automation.
I have the Application as Hub.
The Action as Execute.
The Command as c:\test.bat.
When I select the task and click on Run Now, I get a message that the taskflow has initiated successfully. However, nothing fires on the server. I cannot see this process in Running Tasks (it would run quickly).
Any hints?
I have not found this subject to be...overdocumented.

    any suggestion? plz give me the solutions

    yes you can run html file
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT is a built-in that is used in Forms to call URL from a Web Form. It works much like the similar way that a link on an HTML page works and it takes two arguments, one is URL and second one is TARGET, in your case use following.
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://channas.iil.informatics.lk:8890/forms/frmservlet?config=abc.html', '_blank');
    Hope this will work for you

  • Running a Batch file Using Java

    hi All ,
    I am executing a DOS batch file using the Java .
    I am using it as
    Process P;
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    P = rt.exec("C:\\X12TST\\BATCH1.BAT ");
    But in case BATCH1.bat have call to some other Batch File Say Bactch2.bat , i am not getting the output of BATCH2.BAT .
    My Java Program exits as soon as it enters to the point where BATCH1 is calling BATCH2 using (call BATCH2.bat).
    Any help is resolving the problem is highlt appreciated .
    Please advise me if you have any alternative to solve the problem .
    Thanx in advace

    The Runtime.exec() should'nt be used with a .bat or .cmd file since .bat and .cmd are not really executable. I think the expected behaviour you experimentred is a process hang at the last command line of the .bat file.
    Insert "echo XXX" or "net send mycomputer XXX" debug messages in your .bat, you'll see the .bat executes until last line. But the last one NEVER terminates, resulting in a hang in the Java thread doing a process.waitFor().
    The only workaround (or right use of exec) is to call the cmd.exe (with FULL PATH OF cmd.exe SPECIFIED in the exec() call). An exec() calling C:\WINNT\System32\cmd.exe /C mybatch.bat should return properly, cause cmd.exe is a standard Win32 program that will be launched to interpret mybatch.bat then terminate.
    PLEASE UNIX/LINUX USERS : report if the behaviour you get is the same on your plat-form, or if it is -one more- bug in win32 OS. Can you exec() a shell script direcly or do you have to exec() a "bash" or "ksh" or "csh" with you shell script as command line argument ?

    Gurus,
    Please suggest if there is a way to run .bat files using DAC ? I suppose it can be done by configuring Execution Type as External Program. Please suggest how can this be achieved.
    Thanks

    I performed the same steps given in the link and ran the ex plan, but the task shows running and never completes. In my case i have created bat file for a different purpose (not for purging cache).
    Is the path shown in Step 5 the default path or it can be any path ? Please suggest.

    the script will be started around 60-70 times a day
    >
    No - as marwim said the script will be executed every time the trigger is fired. And that trigger, depending on how it is written, might be fired several times for the same transaction.
    And if the trigger is fired the script will be executed even if the transaction that caused the trigger to fire issues a ROLLBACK.
    Triggers are non-transactional. You need to clearly define the business rules for when the script should run. Should it run only when the transaction is COMMITTED? Or should it run if the transaction executes even if the transaction performs a ROLLBACK?
    A trigger is the wrong solution for your problem.
    Please clarify what the business rules are that should control the execution of the script.

  • LabView equivalent to running batch files using the "shell" command (VisualBasic)

  • Running a batch file to invoke reports runtime

    Hi,
    I'd like to run a batch file at the end of every month automatically, which runs a report and sends the output in a mail. Is there a way to run this batch file without using cron job? We do not have unix environment at our place.
    ThanX.

    hello,
    on windows NT you have the AT functionality which is basic scheduling. however if you are using the oracle reports server you can schedule the report inside the server itself.

  • Use Auto Schedule dynamic lock

    Hello
    The setup is as follows:
    My customer wants to run 4 individual test fixtures off the same PC. Each test fixture will run at least 4 parallel tests at the same time using the parallel model. For now we can assume that it is the same sequence that is executed across all sockets and fixtures. This may change but the same lock conditions will persist over different sequences.
    What i need to do is to lock steps and resources, both internaly in a fixture and across all fixtures. Here is where my problem lies.
    If i use a regular lock then i can acomplish this, all i need to do is keep track of what fixture is actually executing the steps. I can lock on a parameter, say Parameter.Fixture. Or just lock globaly ignoring what fixture is actually executing.
    But if i try to Use Auto scheduling then this will not work. Im not all that familiar with the auto schedule functionality but it looks like if i use the same parameter, it locks on the actual parameter rather than the value the parameter holds. What i then tried was to use an array as the lock, the expression would then typically be Locals.Locks[Parameter.Fixture]. But this didnt sit well with the execution that threw me a -17502 Error. I cant use double lock expressions as that may allow a single fixture to aquire them both.
    The customer would like to use auto scheduling to lower test times. Typically there would be a unique instrument used over all fixtures that would be treated as a single resource, while some test steps cant be executed at the same time within a fixture (radio tests which intereferes across sockets).
    Anyone have an idea on how to create a dynamic lock expression that the step will accept, or have i missed something fundamental with the Auto Scheduling step?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks for the input.
    @James: Ok, then i think i got it right. I will probably post in the suggestion as i think it would be better to support lock on what the expression evaluates to rather than the component of the expression itself. I can however see why it works as it does because if you got an instrument handle then its easy to just use that handle as the lock. And when you look at the examples, it looks like actual hardware on a single test environment is what was in mind.
    @dowNow: I cant do that because each fixture has its own hardware. If i put a global lock they will wait for each other which will create unnecessary long test times, and if i put one lock/hardware then any fixture can access hardware it doesnt have physical access to. At the same time, the customer wants to run it all in one application on one computer, the idea is to be able to have an operator load the different fixtures and run the tests without having to run between stations/computers. I checked the example and placing the steps is easy enough. I also have it running correctly with regular locks but that will also increase the test times as the internal resources in the test equipment will have to wait in sequence instead of using the first available resource.
    Another question:
    The issue is obviously tied to the OI as they want to run it on one computer, if they didnt want that then it wouldnt be a problem really. As far as i can tell, all executions are shared within the same AppManager. Would it be right to think that sequences that run on different AppManagers wont share locks, and if so, is it possible to have more than one AppManager in a single application?
    Another way to solve it that comes to mind is to have each fixture access a slightly modified copy of the master file with different names on the locks. Obviously not ideal to handle code like that though.

  • Running a batch file - VERY URGENT .. help

    Hi people
    I am attempting to run a batch file from with a JSP page.
    the code i am using is:
    Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process process = runtime.exec("cmd.exe /c d:\\uploadfiles.bat");
    This jsp file is located on the c: of a webserver.
    the uploadfiles.bat is located on the d: of the webserver and the code is:
    copy d:\videos\008214?.rm d:\blah
    copy d:\images\008214.* d:\blah
    copy d:\xml\008214.* d:\blah
    cd \blah
    pkzip -es -m 008214.zip *.*
    copy 008214.zip d:\upload\008214.zip
    del 008214.zip
    If I run this batch file from a command line, it works fine, though when I try and call it through my JSP page, it doesnt do anything .. a command window just pops up for a while, and then closes.
    How can I fix this ... I need this quite quickly
    Thanks people

    1) It is O.K. that you see nothing in that console. Its output is captured by Java and is not displayed on the screen.
    In general, that console should not be visible, but actually it behaves differently according to JDK and OS versions (treat that as a feature).
    2). Look at this article:
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html
    It it does not answer your problem, try to search the forums:
    http://search.java.sun.com/search/java/index.jsp?qp=%2Bforum%3A31&nh=10&qt=%2B%22exec%22+-%22Replies%3A+0%22&col=javaforums
    Questions about Runtime.exec() has been asked hundreds of times.
    3) runtime.exec() can execute BAT files. It is not necessary to specify that "cmd /C".

  • Problems Force Running a batch file

    Hi There,
    I am trying to force-run a batch file to copy files from a local NBO Appliance to the C:\tmp directory on the user's workstation. The batch file lives at c:\tmp\branding.bat.
    I cant get the batch file to force run. Zen reporting advises that the batch file has distributed and launched successfully, however the files do not copy.
    However, if i click on the icon for the batch file app - the files copy no problem. I have tried running Workstation Associated and (Unrestricted) User Associated as well as Workstation - Force Run as User.
    Path to executable file:
    %*WinSysDir%\cmd.exe
    Parameters:
    /c "c:\tmp\branding.bat"
    Any ideas? The batch file has to refer to the P: drive as the application covers 40 different sites each with their own appliance containing source files.

    Have the app object copy the batch file to the hard drive from the

    how should i call this batch file from file adapter..
    i tried putting batch file name in the command line section. I had copied the batch file on ftp server at location of Target Directory..but in audit log of adapter i am getting error as OS command cannot be executed..

    Ranjeet,
    >>ok..but what will command to be run of ftp run..
    How do you expect any one of us to know what your ftp server is based on.
    The previous reply by Carme has answered your XI query and to the point. You acknowledge it with a <b>ok</b>!! I guess it is too rude on your part.
    Anway answering your question, that depends on your FTP server. Log in to your FTP server manally and try executing these commands and check.

  • Running a batch file inside a jar

    HI all
    I created a jar file , in which i need to run a batch file , so i wrote a main class to execute the run the batch file , but when iam running the jar it is searching for the given batch file out side the jar.
    my code is some thing like below
         public static void main(String args[])
              try
                   Runtime rt=Runtime.getRuntime();
                   Process process=rt.exec("%DIRNAME%/start.bat");
       InputStreamReader reader =
                      new InputStreamReader ( process.getInputStream () );
                   BufferedReader buf_reader =
                       new BufferedReader (  reader );
                    String line;
                    while ((line = buf_reader.readLine ()) != null)
                                 System.out.println (line);
              catch (IOException e) {
                    System.out.println (e);
         }so please help me.. is it the problem in specifing the path...?
    are does it have any other method to read the stream functions ..
    thanks in advance
    sam

    I don't think this will work. You could not go to a command line and enter, "%DIRNAME%/start.bat" if start.bat was inside a jar - the CLI doesn't know how to read a batch file inside a jar.
    I think it would work to programmatically read the lines of start.bat (when it is inside the jar) into an array of Strings and use Runtime.exec with the array as the argument.
    It would also work to extract the start.bat file, then execute it using Runtime.exec.
